It is also consistent with the findings of the International Court of Justice and a number of Holocaust and genocide scholars that Israel is actively engaging in acts of genocide in Gaza. Jews have lived in Palestine for millennia, alongside other communities. The state of Israel did not exist until 1948. In fact, at the beginning of the 20th century, 84 percent of Palestine’s population was Arab Muslim, and 11 percent was Arab Christian. Hale was performing his professional duties as Chair of the Senate Executive Committee to the highest scholarly and ethical standards. Claiming that a scholar’s recognition of the erasure of Palestinian life, culture and history displays anti-Jewish bias is not only utterly absurd — it constitutes a slanderous attack.
