LSU outlasts UCF 109-102 in triple-OT affairAlex Berenguer prodded the hosts ahead after 53 minutes before Mbappe – who failed to convert a Champions League penalty against Liverpool last week – sent his kick too close to Bilbao goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala. Jude Bellingham appeared to have rescued a point for Real after scoring for the fourth successive league game 12 minutes from time. But Federico Valverde’s mistake two minutes later gifted Gorka Guruzeta the winner in front of a delirious San Mames crowd. On a busy night of second-round Copa del Rey action, Villarreal suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at Pontevedra while there were wins for Real Betis, Rayo Vallecano and Valencia. Market Hits New Highs; AI Leader Nvidia Ready For New Run? - Investor's Business Daily

Police hunt for UnitedHealthcare CEO's masked killer after 'brazen, targeted' attack on NYC streetYou cannot make this up : “ OpenAI’s Board of Directors is evaluating our corporate structure in order to best support the mission of ensuring artificial general intelligence (AGI) 1 benefits all of humanity, with three objectives”. Yes, a $157 billion company board is still “evaluating” its corporate structure! OpenAI is in a mess because most of the founding partners are those who believe in the unalloyed supremacy of technology above all things. Yes, provided they can extend the Pythagorean postulation that the universe is numbers, and can pursue its practicalization in fixing market frictions, everything will fall into place. Unfortunately, that is an illusion, and OpenAI is learning the hard way. If they had incorporated this company as a for-profit company, the generative AI pioneer will not be going through this paralysis. But that was not the case as they went non-profit, and now want to evolve, and morph, into another species of companies. Unfortunately, that is not an easy thing, because the law is clear: if you are to dissolve that non-profit, the assets move to another non-profit or to the state for public good. That is why the Board is still “evaluating” because they have no clear answers. When they are done, a simple suit will bring them to order. Many years ago, to fund my personal non-profit on electronics in Africa (via African Institution of Technology , a 501c3 charity, which has supported electronics education in 112 universities, click afrit.org for photos), I read the ordinance with the US Internal Revenue Service. Quickly, it became clear that it is better to go and make money, and use the profit to support any charity of interest, than setting up a non-profit directly for its purpose. That is what lawyers will tell you because you never know tomorrow. So, you will have Mastercard Foundation, Intel Foundation, etc funded by Mastercard, Intel, etc. The creator of ChatGPT cannot use ChatGPT to discover the right corporate structure because that is above the pay-compute-grade of ChatGPT. But if they had asked a recent law graduate, they possibly might have been saved from this. And that takes me to the message: use those lawyers, pay them, because they will save you from troubles. Today, I sent two documents to two different lawyers (yes, I use two ), and was happy when they independently returned: “Prof, it’s ready to go”, “Sir, everything looks nice”. Good People, respect lawyers because they serve as high priests on the altars of governments even if you are a tech prodigy. Parts of Australia will be hit by a dreaded heatwave as temperatures exceed 47C - breaking December records. It will be an “extremely hot” and windy start to the week for the majority of the country, as residents prepare for the sweltering tempertures. Melbourne will likely hit 40C on Monday, marking its hottest day since January 2023 and the hottest December day in five years. Meanwhile, in Penrith and Richmond, in Sydney, temperatures are anticipated to reach 35C on Monday and up to 41C on Tuesday. A heatwave has arrived at the doorstep of several states across the country, with some areas set to become severely impacted by the heat. Picture: Weatherzone The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe-to-extreme heatwave warning for those in the northern parts of the country, including Alice Springs in the Northern Territory and northern and western Queensland, where temperatures are anticipated to climb well into the mid-to-high 40s. The low-intensity heatwave is expected to stretch down to northern and western NSW, and northern Victoria, where temperatures are expected to reach the mid-to-high 40s. “Some areas in western NSW could approach December records, with temperatures at 46C or 47C,” Bureau of Meteorology senior meteorologist Dean Narramore said. The sweltering conditions are likely to affect Bourke, Ivanhoe, Jindabyne, Narrandera, Tibooburra, Tumbarumba and Wilcannia. The Country Fire Authority has issued extreme fire danger warnings for the majority of Victoria, with a total fire ban in the Mallee, Wimmera, South West, Northern Country, North Central, Central and West and South Gippsland districts – including Melbourne and the Greater Melbourne regions – until midnight Monday. “Those extreme fire dangers ... are at the upper end of extreme – in the 90s – and it is not beyond the realms of possibility that tomorrow we will see areas tip into perhaps some of those catastrophic fire dangers,” CFA chief officer Jason Hefferman said per Sky News. A moderate fire ban has been issued for the majority of NSW, with a high fire warning issued for the North West Slopes, Greater Hunter, North Western, Upper and Lower Central West Plains, the Northern and Southern Riverina regions. However, there won’t be much relief for those living in the northern parts of Australia, including much of the NT and Queensland until later in the week. Following the cool change in the south, the heatwave will trap itself in the northern areas and will continue its grip. Temperatures in some areas of Australia will hit the mid-to-high 40s.
