I urge all citizens to email Sean Mahar, interim commissioner of the state Department of Environmental Conservation, and demand he not grant State Environmental Quality Review lead agency status to the Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC) and revoke the Freshwater Wetlands and State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permits. Also demand that state repurpose a vacant former industrial site with adequate water service for Science Technology and Advanced Manufacturing Park (STAMP). STAMP, which needs 6 million gallons of water daily, could not have been placed in a worse location. GCEDC is deforesting the Town of Alabama in the palm of the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge, the Oak Orchard, John White and Tonawanda wildlife management areas, and adjacent to the sovereign Tonawanda Seneca Nation (TSN). Forced assimilation of my grandmother into orphanages left her unable to flourish at TSN. Our obligation today is to deliver the same medicines, crops, and game seven generations from now. STAMP threatens all children of the Six Nations of the Haudenosaunee being catastrophic for the ancient vegetation and wildlife there. GCEDC’s website states that STAMP 1,250-acre campus “is a green manufacturing mega-site developed to deliver hydropower, utilities, and talent from a strategic location in New York” and has $1 billion of announced investments. The site notes that STAMP “is located centrally to 1 million people in the Buffalo-Rochester Tech Corridor,” with quick access to Intertstate 90 and 140 million people living within 500 miles. So, why do they propose to backfill 43 acres of wetlands to build 1.8 million square feet of building space for AI computer servers and just 50 jobs? Their plan is to drill through and build over federally protected wetlands for one so-called green job for every 36,000 square feet of planned space. STAMP is in the hands of the agency meant to protect and defend the environment. The DEC’s mission is to conserve, improve and protect New York’s natural resources and environment and to prevent, abate and control water, land and air pollution, in order to enhance the health, safety and welfare of the people of the state and their overall economic and social well-being. Yet, this agency has done nothing to fulfill its obligations. STAMP has used $400 million in tax dollars to subsidize development. GCEDC claims it will produce green manufacturing job opportunities. Tax dollars should not be spent to lure private companies who will receive per GCEDC’s website “0% corporate income tax for manufacturing” and “0% tax on personal property, equipment and inventory.” If finished, STAMP would achieve a hat trick of social, ecological, and humanitarian violations committed in recent history to the Indigenous people of WNY. In 1958, Robert Moses flooded Tuscarora to build a power plant. In 1960, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers entered Allegheny, burning down over 200 Seneca homes for the Kinzua Dam project. Albany is shooting for STAMP to be their trifecta of damaged relations, land destruction, and degradation of the sovereign Seneca people. Stop the Big Water, Rampart, and Hydroscale projects. Police said their findings were being delivered Thursday to Brazil’s Supreme Court, which must decide whether to refer them to Prosecutor-General Paulo Gonet, who will either formally charge Bolsonaro and put him on trial, or toss the investigation. The former right-wing president has denied all claims he tried to stay in office after his narrow electoral defeat in 2022 to his rival, leftist President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Bolsonaro has faced a series of legal threats since then. Police said in a brief statement that the Supreme Court had agreed to reveal the names of all 37 people who were indicted “to avoid the dissemination of incorrect news.” The 700-page police document likely will take several days for the court to review, Supreme Court justice Alexandre de Moraes said. Dozens of former and current Bolsonaro aides also were indicted, including Gen. Walter Braga Netto, who was his running mate in the 2022 campaign; former Army commander Gen. Paulo Sérgio Nogueira de Oliveira; Valdemar Costa Neto, the chairman of Bolsonaro’s Liberal Party; and his veteran former adviser, Gen. Augusto Heleno. The investigation started last year. In a stark contrast to Schneller and Schweinfurt, Popović and Türkgücü sit in dead last place with only ten points and a -22 goal differential. They have one more game on Saturday, against Greuther Fürth II. Luka Parkadze – Altglienicke The match between Altglienicke and FSV 63 Luckenwalde was postponed this weekend.
