The Cupertino City Council contest is headed for a recount following a two-week long stand off between Ray Wang and Rod Sinks to fill the second open seat. A recount by the Santa Clara County Register of Voters is triggered when the margin of victory between two candidates is less than 0.25% of all ballots cast, or less than 25 votes. A candidate only needs to win by one vote after the recount is finished. So far the two candidates are separated by 65 votes of all ballots casted, which the county recognizes as meeting the 0.25% requirement. Wang has a small lead as of Friday. Cupertino’s recount will begin Monday and continue daily until all the ballots are counted, including the 7,000 unprocessed ballots left in the county as of Friday. The Register of Voters doesn’t know how long Cupertino’s will take, but volunteers are required to finish prior to certification on Dec 5, according to Associate Community Officer Michael Borja. Seven candidates were vying to fill Cupertino’s two open council seats this election season, including incumbents Hung Wei and Kitty Moore, former mayors Sinks, Gilbert Wong and Barry Chang, former planning commissioner Wang and political newcomer Claudio Bono. Moore has secured her spot on the council so far, leading with 25% of the votes as of Friday. Moore and Wang were running on a joint platform of promoting more fiscal accountability and transparency on the council and encouraging the city to consider the environmental and public safety concerns of large development projects. Based on this simple premise, the author weaves a marvellous work of social satire set in a tiny village in Maharashtra where life is simpler but not a stranger to complexities. Naru Pingtya owns the local bar where Ajabrao drinks every evening. Later he climbs the roof of his house and sometimes sings abhangs in praise of Lord Vitthala. Gengane, the local schoolteacher, is also a regular; while his wife is set on seducing Langdya. There’s a crisis that calls for great improvisation because Langdya has tampered with his failed marksheet and fears his father’s wrath. When he spots the music teacher Mrs Deshpande going towards the deserted fort at the edge of the village, he tells Habib Sir and Gengane about it. To Langdya’s great fortune, it is Dhamale the headmaster that she goes to meet. Langdya accidently falls into his role of a fixer because fear of exposure makes Dhamale sign his matriculation form. Not only does he clear that, he also clears his Class XII. He discovers he has a natural talent for being a dalal. As a fixer, he is as masterful as he is without a moral compass. THE SOURCES WHAT WE FOUND On Dec. 2, a company calling itself Enron Corporation published a promotional video on social media, introduced a new website and issued a press release announcing a relaunch of the company. But the relaunched website calls itself a parody. The new company with the infamous name is owned by Connor Gaydos, the co-founder of satirical conspiracy group “Birds Aren’t Real.” A disclaimer on the website’s terms of service page reads, “THE INFORMATION ON THE WEBSITE IS FIRST AMENDMENT PROTECTED PARODY, REPRESENTS PERFORMANCE ART, AND IS FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY.” VERIFY reached out to the media contact listed on Enron’s website and in the press release about the site’s relaunch. Will Chabot , spokesperson for the current Enron brand and managing director of media strategy for Stu Loeser & Co., would not confirm or deny if the company was real or parody, but did direct VERIFY to the company’s articles of incorporation and press release about the relaunch. “I understand you had some questions about Enron's launch.
