The home of the Sounders may now officially become the home for a country during the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup. FIFA announced an updated list of potential base camps for countries participating in the World Cup on Thursday that included the Sounders new training center at the former Longacres site in Renton. Adding the Sounders training center is an announcement that’s long been expected and was probably amplified by the visit last month from FIFA President Gianni Infantino to the area that also included a reception and tour of the facility. Seattle is set to host six matches during the tournament beginning in June 2026 – four in the group stage, one in the round of 32 and one in the round of 16. But cities can often serve as both host venues and base camps for various countries. For example, during the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the city of Sochi hosted matches while also being the base camp for Brazil and Poland at a couple of venues around the area. The Sounders facility was one of 26 new options added by FIFA that also included a couple of other potential sites in the Pacific Northwest. Across the state, Gonzaga University in Spokane is listed as a possible base camp. The Bulldogs’ Luger Field is a grass soccer stadium on the bank of the Spokane River. Another site in the region listed was Boise State University where the Broncos play at the Boas Soccer Complex. Any of the three Pacific Northwest locations would seem likely options for a country that ends up with the majority of its group stage games on the West Coast. Other cities are expected to be added as potential base camps for the 48 participating countries throughout 2025. Portland is not currently listed as a possible base camp but would seem a likely candidate with a few options in the area. The final decisions on what cities each country will call home for the tournament are expected a little over a year from now, shortly after the draw. Tyler Huntley completed 22 of 26 passes for 225 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions, and ran for another score to lead the Miami Dolphins to a 20-3 victory over the host Cleveland Browns on Sunday in Cleveland, Ohio. Huntley made his fourth start of the season, and did so in place of Dolphins' injured starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who sat out with a hip injury. With the win, the Dolphins (8-8) kept their playoff hopes alive heading into week 18. But Tyreek Hill gave Huntley a reliable target in Miami's passing game as he caught all nine passes thrown his way for 105 yards as the Dolphins won for the sixth time in eight games. Leading 13-3 in the fourth quarter, the Dolphins sealed the outcome when Huntley connected with Jonnu Smith on a 7-yard touchdown pass with 3:38 to go. Wonder was born with two deformed hooves leaving her unable to stand or walk. But since being fitted with a specialist prosthesis, the young mule is now able to walk "better than ever before". At a young age, she was admitted to Donkey Sanctuary Bonaire in the Netherlands - a center for neglected, abused, confiscated, sick or old donkeys . Wonder the donkey with its new leg. ( When veterinarians at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Ghent University heard about Wonder's condition, they got in touch with Wesley Michiels from Pet Orthopedics - a company that makes prostheses and braces for animals. Wesley Michiels, head of Pet Orthopedics , said: "The vets contacted us and explained that they wanted to amputate the leg - asking us how they could best go about it to ensure that the donkey would be able to walk again with a view to a prosthesis. "We were on site for about three weeks to carry out the measurements on Wonder." As the vets amputated her little hooves - the orthopedics were able to fit a prosthetic leg that grows as Wonder does. "Wonder is still a little donkey who still has to grow in the future, so the prosthesis is adaptive so we can adjust it when she grows. "In the beginning, she has to learn how to use the leg more - but with the prosthetic device she is now already walking better than before." He added the new technology has helped many species - from alpacas to dogs and now donkeys . Wesley said: "In the past, the legs of animals were completely amputated up to the shoulder or up to the hip for a problem with toes for example - then sometimes you couldn't do anything with one leg. "But now many vets first call us to ask for advice about the amputation, so that we can put a prosthesis afterwards."
