SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Getting blown out at Green Bay following another squandered late lead the previous week against Seattle has quickly turned the San Francisco 49ers from a Super Bowl contender into a team just fighting to get back to the playoffs. If San Francisco doesn't get healthy and eliminate the errors that led to Sunday's 38-10 loss to the Packers, the focus will turn from playoff permutations to what offseason changes are necessary. “I think everyone understands completely outside and inside what the situation is,” coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday. “That’s why the Seattle game was so tough of a loss and that’s why last night was even worse. We know what we got ahead of us. We know exactly what the playoff situation is. That is what it is. But really, all that matters is this week when you do need to go on a run and put a lot of wins to even think of that.” The task doesn't get any easier as the Niners (5-6) get set to play at Buffalo on Sunday night. The 49ers are hoping to get injured stars Brock Purdy , Nick Bosa and Trent Williams back for that game, but their presence alone won't fix everything that went wrong on Sunday . The defense got repeatedly gashed early and put San Francisco in a 17-0 hole before the offense even generated a first down. The running game never got going as Christian McCaffrey has looked nothing like the 2023 Offensive Player of the Year in his three games back from Achilles tendinitis. And whenever the Niners appeared to do something right, a penalty came back to haunt them. It added up to the most lopsided loss for San Francisco since the 2018 season, before Shanahan had turned the Niners into perennial contenders. “It’s probably one of the worst ones I’ve been a part of,” linebacker Fred Warner said. “It is embarrassing. You’ve got to take it on the chin, take it like a man and move on.” Despite the doom and gloom, the 49ers are only one game behind Seattle and Arizona in the NFC West standings with six games to go. But San Francisco already has three division losses and a difficult schedule featuring games against the Bills this week and Detroit in Week 17. “My optimism is not broken by any means,” tight end George Kittle said. “We still have a lot of very talented players. We will get some guys back and I still have full trust in the coaching staff to put our guys in position to make plays. I have no worry about that. But definitely an uphill grind. We'll see what we’re made of, which I’m looking forward to.” Red-zone passes to Kittle. Backup QB Brandon Allen connected on a 3-yard TD pass to Kittle late in the second quarter for San Francisco's only TD. Kittle leads the NFL with eight touchdown catches in the red zone, which is tied with Vernon Davis (2013) for the most in a season for a Niners player since 2000. Kittle was the only consistent part of the San Francisco offense with six catches for 82 yards. Avoiding penalties. San Francisco had nine penalties for 77 yards and they were costly and sloppy. The Niners had 12 men on the field on defense on back-to-back plays, three false starts, a pass interference in the end zone and three penalties on special teams, including a holding on Eric Saubert that negated an 87-yard kickoff return by Deebo Samuel to open the second half. Rookie Dominick Puni had three penalties after being penalized just once in the first 10 games. DE Leonard Floyd. There were few positive performances on defense, but Floyd had both of the team's sacks. Run defense. San Francisco allowed 169 yards rushing, including 87 in the first quarter for the team's second-worst performance in the opening quarter since 1991. The Niners missed 19 tackles, according to Pro Football Focus, as Josh Jacobs gained 83 of his 106 yards rushing after contact. Purdy took part in a light throwing session without pain on Monday and Shanahan is hopeful he can return to practice Wednesday after missing the Green Bay game with a shoulder injury. ... Anantnag, Nov 24: The Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department took over the Rehmat-e-Alam Hospital from a local trust in 2017, along with its assets and liabilities. This process, initiated in 2015, aimed to address critical healthcare needs in the region by relocating the Maternity and Child Care Hospital (MCCH) from its unsafe and congested Sherbagh premises to the hospital’s facility on K P Road. However, eight years later, the project remains incomplete, with work halted for over five years. The original structure, comprising two floors built by the trust two decades ago, was approved for expansion with two additional floors. The Jammu and Kashmir Housing Department initially began construction before the project was handed over to the Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Corporation Limited (JKPCC). Despite delays and setbacks, JKPCC nearly completed the structure, incurring a cost of Rs 6 crore of the sanctioned Rs 13 crore. However, only minor portions, including parts of the truss, remained unfinished when the work was stopped. Soon, the safety concerns were raised. In response to this, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Jammu, conducted an audit of the building, funded with Rs 20 lakh, and after a year found it failed to meet safety criteria. The institute recommended retrofitting and jacketing of vital beams and columns on the first two floors. A subsequent audit by the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, allocated Rs 23 lakh, echoed similar recommendations. The initial cost of strengthening the structure was estimated at Rs 6.5 crore. It was later revised to Rs 8.5 crore by the Design Inspection Quality Control (DIQC) Department, which also suggested strengthening underground work. Including retrofitting, electrical, mechanical, and interior finishing work, JKPCC projected the total cost to complete the project at Rs 20 crore. In May 2023, the Health and Medical Education Department granted administrative approval to strengthen the building and complete pending work. An order at outlined costs for pending work at Rs 18.57 crore and shear walls, jacketing, and VFDs at Rs 6.51 crore. However, no progress followed. With JKPCC defunct, the Public Works Department (PWD) took over the project and re-estimated the cost, adding Rs 32 crore for retrofitting, central heating installation, and finishing work. An official said that restarting work now requires revised administrative approval. “Although not officially declared unsafe, the building does not meet post-2005 earthquake safety standards for hospital use,” the official said. He expressed concern over the apparent waste of Rs 13 crore spent so far. “The hospital has around 30-kanal of land and is ideal for future expansion,” an official said. Stir in tomato puree, then reintroduce the pre-cooked vegetable mix, along with good quality tinned tomatoes and chicken stock. "It's going to be quite wet so you want to cook this gently for about three hours to reduce it and concentrate it so it becomes thick and glossy," Paul advised. Sam Konstas is about to join two cult heroes, a one-Test wonder, Italy’s national captain and a fellow Cranbrook alumni in cricket’s quirkiest groups. And on Thursday, Konstas will add his own twist to the list of Australian Boxing Day debutants, when the 19-year-old becomes the nation’s youngest ever male Test opener. Konstas will become Australian men’s Text cricketer No.468 when he debuts against India at the MCG and the 14th to do so on Boxing Day. In a list as unique as it is diverse, Australia’s Boxing Day debutants range from the nation’s equal-most capped player in Steve Waugh to a one-Test quick in Matthew Nicholson. Current national selector Tony Dodemaide also features, as does the larger-than-life Greg Mathews. Scott Boland is the other cult hero after his spell of 6-7 in 2021, which doubled as the best debut at the MCG from a bowler since Brett Lee’s stunning start in 1999. Scott Boland. State human resources and poverty eradication committee chairman V.Papparaidu said the salary range for those securing employment through the programme was between RM1,700 and RM6,000. “A total of 3,647 people pre-registered for the job carnival, but only 1,859 attended the event held in seven districts this year,” he said. “Of the attendees, 1,526 applicants were invited for a second interview.” Papparaidu advised jobseekers to grab any opportunity while waiting for better offers. In reply to a supplementary question by Rajiv Rishyakaran (PH-Bukit Gasing) on jobs available for the elderly who were seeking employment, Papparaidu said they too were selective. Employers participating in the job carnival, he said, offered many opportunities for fresh graduates. There were opportunities for older adults too as some employers wanted to hire experienced people, added Papparaidu. “However, the jobs offered may not match their experience, qualifications or salary expectations.” In reply to supplementary questions by Mariam Abdul Rashid (PH-Meru) regarding job opportunities for people with disabilities, Papparaidu said there were such openings too. He said the job carnival was a state government initiative, since 2021, with the Social Security Organisation (Socso) aimed at providing access to more job opportunities at specific locations. “The programme is carried out in stages across nine districts every year. “It involves the participation of 25 to 30 employers in each district, offering 35,000 job opportunities across various sectors and industries, with salaries ranging from RM1,700 to RM12,000.”
