Lopez cited problems - but no wrongdoing - with the auction process. He said he said he did not think that those involved in the auction acted in bad faith and that everyone "put their best foot forward and tried to play within the rules." Still, Lopez said he said he did not want another auction and left it up to the trustee who oversaw the auction to determine the next steps. The Onion offered $1.75 million in cash and other incentives for Infowars' assets in the auction. First United American Companies, which runs a website in Jones' name that sells nutritional supplements, bid $3.5 million. The bids were a fraction of the money that Jones has been ordered to pay in defamation lawsuits in Connecticut and Texas filed by relatives of victims of the Sandy Hook shooting. Lopez said the auction outcome "left a lot of money on the table" for families. "You got to scratch and claw and get everything you can for them," Lopez said. Christopher Mattei, a lawyer for the Sandy Hook families who sued Jones in Connecticut, said they were disappointed in the judge's ruling. "These families, who have already persevered through countless delays and roadblocks, remain resilient and determined as ever to hold Alex Jones and his corrupt businesses accountable for the harm he has caused," Mattei said in a statement. "This decision doesn't change the fact that, soon, Alex Jones will begin to pay his debt to these families and he will continue doing so for as long as it takes." Jones, who did not attend the proceedings, went back on his program late Tuesday to celebrate the judge's ruling, calling the auction "ridiculous" and "fraudulent." Although The Onion's cash offer was lower than that of First United American, it also included a pledge by many of the Sandy Hook families to forgo $750,000 of the auction proceeds due to them and give it to other creditors, providing the other creditors more money than they would receive under First United American's bid. The sale of Infowars is part of Jones' personal bankruptcy case, which he filed in late 2022 after he was ordered to pay nearly $1.5 billion in defamation lawsuits in Connecticut and Texas filed by relatives of victims of the Sandy Hook shooting. Jones repeatedly called the shooting that killed 20 children and six educators a hoax staged by actors and aimed at increasing gun control. Parents and children of many of the victims testified in court that they were traumatized by Jones' conspiracies and threats from his followers. Jones has since acknowledged that the Connecticut school shooting happened. Most of the proceeds from the sale of Infowars, as well as many of Jones' personal assets, will go to the Sandy Hook families. Some proceeds will go to Jones' other creditors. Trustee Christopher Murray had defended The Onion's bid in court this week, testifying that he did not favor either bidder over the other and was not biased. He also revealed that First United American submitted a revised bid in recent days, but he said he could not accept it because the Sandy Hook families in the Connecticut lawsuit objected. The Onion valued its bid, with the Sandy Hook families' offer, at $7 million because that amount was equal to a purchase price that would provide the same amount of money to the other creditors. In a court filing last month, Murray's lawyers called First United American's request to disqualify The Onion's bid a "disappointed bidder's improper attempt to influence an otherwise fair and open election process." Jones' attorney, Ben Broocks, noted that the Sandy Hook lawsuit judgments could be overturned in pending appeals and got Murray to acknowledge that the Sandy Hook families' offer in The Onion bid could fall apart if that happens. That's because the percentage of the auction proceeds they would be entitled to could drop sharply and they wouldn't get the $750,000 from the sale to give to other creditors. Up for sale were all the equipment and other assets in the Infowars studio in Austin, as well as the rights to its social media accounts, websites, video archive and product trademarks. Glenn Youngkin proposed sweeping investments to overhaul the state’s behavioral health system. The initiative, called Right Help, Right Now, promised funding for crisis response solutions like mobile crisis teams and a new crisis hotline. On Wednesday, Youngkin said the commonwealth had made good on that promise. “We are finding a way to get people the help they need when they need it, and that does not mean tomorrow or next month,” he said during a news conference at the Patrick Henry Building. “It means today.” At the outset, the program’s goals included boosting the number of mobile crisis response units from 36 to 70. Today, there are 102 active teams operating 24/7 year round. Those teams average a 50-minute response time across the state. Likewise, Youngkin said that between crisis receiving centers, stabilization units and therapeutic homes, there are now 663 available crisis units, up from 213. Other highlights included the 988 hotline , which acts as an alternative to 911 for mental health crises. In September, the hotline received more than 14,000 calls. Youngkin said the wider availability of dedicated mental health supports also reduced the amount of time police officers spent monitoring people in crisis at hospitals. To continue the progress, Youngkin pledged an additional $70 million to further the efforts of Right Help, Right Now in a budget proposal he will present next week. Still, there’s work to be done. The bulk of last year’s funding went to developmental disability waivers , distributed quarterly over two years and designed to help children and adults with disabilities receive support at home. Historically, the waitlist to receive these waivers has been thousands of people long. The mental health investment has funded 3,440 slots for top applicants — effectively enough to clear the backlog of people who urgently need support services. But that doesn’t mean there’s enough support to get people help right away. There is a rollout process, and advocates have warned there remains a shortage of service providers who act as an alternative to group homes. “We hear from people when they get (the waiver), and they call excited,” said Tonya Milling, executive director of the Arc of Virginia, an organization that advocates for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. “And then it’s, ‘Oh my God, what do I do?” To that end, the Arc is lobbying for resources to help waiver recipients navigate the process. Milling said there’s also a difference in how crisis intervention systems work for people with developmental disabilities compared to people accessing the mental health system without one, at least right now. “It’s taken longer to get crisis receiving centers trained, ready and prepared so that they know how to support someone with (intellectual and developmental disabilities) when they come in,” she said. “We have a lot of people with significant support needs that have autism that can manifest as a behavioral health crisis. Calling the cops is still pretty scary, so there needs to be so much more education on 988 and for people to know to call that.” Of the $70 million in spending included in Youngkin’s budget amendments, $35 million would go toward Special Conservators of the Peace, badged officers in hospitals and emergency departments that would take custody of people experiencing a behavioral health crisis. Youngkin said the goal is to reduce the time police officers spend in hospitals. The governor will present his amended budget proposal to state lawmakers next Wednesday. The General Assembly convenes Jan. 8 and will adjourn Feb. 22. During the session, lawmakers will consider this and other amendments Youngkin proposes for the state’s two-year budget plan. A man is sharing his frustrations with his roommate's technological inabilities after repeatedly helping him with basic computer issues that the roommate refuses to learn to fix on his own. In a post to , the man, 27, writes that he and his roommate, 31, are "good friends," attending college together and playing card games in their spare time. The man writes that he considers himself to be "pretty good with technology" — "nothing crazy but comfortable enough to do some pretty neat stuff with it." His boyfriend, 33, is also pretty "sharp" with computers and has an IT job. The couple loves playing video games together, especially "massively multiplayer online role-playing games" where thousands of people can join and play together online. The man ran into trouble recently when his roommate wanted to be included in the video game fun. The poster writes that his roommate is "terrible with technology to an inexcusable level. And to make matters worse, despite knowing how to google things or use trial and error, every time he runs into something challenging with technology, he’ll just say he doesn’t know what to do and sit there waiting for someone to fix it for him." I’ve tried telling him to just follow a tutorial, or google it but even then he’ll whine that he doesn’t get it. I’ve gotten fed up because no matter how many times I show him how to do something, the minute he comes across it again he again just sits there and waits for someone else to fix it." The man gave his roommate an ultimatum of three options for when he and his boyfriend are playing video games: "1. Don’t join. 2. Join and google stuff and stop being a chore for others to deal with because he’s too lazy to figure it out on his own. 3. Pay $10 per occupancy of incompetence and asking for help until he gets tired of wasting money and figured it out himself." The original poster replied with some context, saying he only came up with the idea of charging money because his boyfriend mentioned that that thanks to his own IT job, he doesn't have a problem helping people with their tech issues. This prompted the poster to realize that his boyfriend "makes a living wage doing it" and "that it was work and a job that I was essentially providing for free, so he suggested I should probably just start charging for it." While an Adani Group entity holds 80% stake in the company, the government of Maharashtra controls the balance 20% stake. The change in name does not alter the government’s role in the project. The role of the government of Maharashtra remains unchanged and DRP continues to be the supervising authority for the ambitious project.
