The aftermath of the sudden crash was felt far and wide, with major exchanges and trading platforms struggling to cope with the overwhelming volume of liquidations taking place simultaneously. Reports of system crashes and delays in executing orders further exacerbated the situation, adding to the chaos and confusion that gripped the market.
A New Jersey school board agreed last week to refund the state more than $33,000 after a “Staff Fun Day” was determined to violate state laws on the use of taxpayer funds. The Newark Board of Education unanimously voted to pass a resolution requiring the return of the funds. The move follows an Oct. 25 letter to Newark Public School Superintendent Roger León from the New Jersey Department of Education’s Office of Accountability and Compliance, which raised concerns over the event. The “Central Office Staff Fun Day” was hosted on June 1 at a local catering facility, according to the letter. The event boasted a price tag of $43,813.90 and Newark Public Schools allocated $33,649.07 in state aid, or 76.8% of the bill. The “Staff Fun Day” was intended to “promote team building” and “enhance a positive organizational culture,” according to the New Jersey Department of Education. Activities featured during the event included, among others, a hula hoop contest, trivia games, a “social media photo booth” and an inflatable axe-throwing tournament. However, a review conducted by the department found the activities lacked educational and professional content, were not facilitated by district staff and did not meet required goals for use of public funds. These findings placed Newark Public Schools in violation of multiple state statutes regarding use of public funds, according to the letter. “The event lacked an educational or professional development component and did not demonstrate a clear connection to the district’s strategic objectives or organizational development,” the letter read. “As a result, the costs associated with this event are not eligible for State aid.” The education department in the letter ordered Newark Public Schools to direct the $33,649.07 back to the state. The resolution passed by the Newark Board of Education last Tuesday approved the refund, but the district’s lawyer said the board is not being asked to “admit any wrongdoing.” Board member Crystal Williams expressed frustration with the situation, demanding to know who was “responsible” for planning the “Staff Fun Day.” “Why was there no professional development?” Williams asked. “Where specifically can we expect to take this $30,000 from and how can we ensure that this does not happen again?” Board secretary Valerie Wilson said the repayment will not come from a “specific account,” suggesting it may instead be subtracted from future disbursements to the district. She also noted that the district will ensure that any “professional development” planned for the event in the future is “clear, defined and understandable.” Newark Public Schools did not immediately respond to a request for comment from FOX45 News. The Pathogenesis of Stomach Cancer:

(AP) — The Rose Bowl is the next stop on No. 1 Oregon's national championship quest. And Ohio State or Tennessee will be the Ducks' opponent in the 111th edition of the Granddaddy of Them All. Oregon (13-0) received the top seed in the first 12-team College Football Playoff on Sunday, sending the Ducks to celebrate the new year in Pasadena for the ninth time in school history as they continue to fight for their school's first national title. “Being on this side of the country, this is a game you dream of the opportunity to coach in,” said Oregon coach Dan Lanning, who will be in his first Rose Bowl. “It’s certainly a thrill for me. Obviously, a big fan of our program and influence in our program is Phil Knight, and Phil always told me his No. 1 goal is, ‘Can we get to the Rose Bowl?’ So I’m extremely ecstatic that our team gets to be a part of such a historic game.” But first, the eighth-seeded Buckeyes (10-2) and the ninth-seeded Volunteers (10-2) will meet in Columbus on Saturday, Dec. 21, to determine Oregon's opponent in the Rose Bowl Game, which is also a playoff quarterfinal. Tennessee is in the playoff for the first time, and coach Josh Heupel believes the Vols are ready. “It’s the next step for our program,” Heupel said. “This is something that our players have worked towards since last January, and you earn the right to be in a game like this. Proud of what we’ve done through the course of the regular season. The new season starts here. There was an expectation inside of our program to earn the right to play in a game like this.” As for the idea of an SEC team traveling north to frigid central Ohio, Heupel points out that Knoxville isn't exactly Southern California. “Not sure what the temperature will be up there, and I know it won’t be sunny and 85,” Heupel said. “We played in 30-degree weather a week ago (against Vanderbilt). For us, a lot of our practices are in the morning. (When) we’re outside, it’ll be similar temperatures to what you get up there. Our guys will be able to handle anything that comes at them.” The first-round matchup pits a pair of college football powerhouses with little history together. The Volunteers beat the Buckeyes 20-14 in the Citrus Bowl on Jan. 1, 1996, in the schools' only previous meeting. Ohio State got home-field advantage despite missing out on a Big Ten title game date with Oregon after a humiliating 13-10 loss at home to Michigan last month. The Buckeyes also lost a 32-31 thriller to the Ducks in Eugene in October, but they might still get that rematch in California. Oregon is clearly the class of this jumbled college football season, finishing as the only undefeated team in the FBS and the No. 1 team in the AP Top 25 after holding off Penn State 45-37 to win its first Big Ten championship. The Ducks' road to a title looks fairly daunting with two elite opponents vying for their quarterfinal shot, and social media filled up Sunday with fans and commentators bemoaning the relative difficulty of Oregon's path. The rough road doesn't bother Lanning, however. “What an opportunity, right?” Lanning said on ESPN. “We focus on the things that you can control, and winning a national championship isn’t supposed to be easy. If our path is a little bit tougher, kudos to us if we go through it and take care of business.” For decades, the Rose Bowl cherished its position as a near-annual meeting of teams from the Big Ten and the West Coast conference most recently known as the Pac-12. The breakup of the Pac-12 and the permanent change in the Rose Bowl's postseason position happened simultaneously over the past year, throwing the bowl's future into flux. But Oregon's familiar presence in Pasadena next month will smooth that change significantly — and if the Ducks' opponent is Ohio State, the traditionalists will still get exactly what they crave out of this game anyway. Oregon and Ohio State met in the Rose Bowl in 1958 and again on Jan. 1, 2010, with Terrelle Pryor leading the Buckeyes to a 26-17 victory. Oregon is 4-4 in its previous trips to the Rose Bowl, and the modern Ducks have spent their holiday in Pasadena four times since 2010. They’ve won in their past three appearances in the Granddaddy, most recently beating Wisconsin 28-27 in Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert’s final game for his hometown school in 2020. Ohio State has made 16 previous appearances in the Rose Bowl, third-most in the game's history behind USC (34) and Michigan (21). The Buckeyes have won their last four games in Pasadena, most recently beating Washington in 2019 and Utah in 2022 . A trip to Pasadena would be a treat for Tennessee's vast fan base. The Vols made two trips to the Rose Bowl during the 1940s, but they haven't been back there since 1945. Oregon and Tennessee have faced each other twice, with the Ducks winning both matchups in 2010 and in 2013. Get poll alerts and updates on the AP Top 25 throughout the season. Sign up here . Saints say Taysom Hill 'likely' has a season-ending knee injury NEW ORLEANS (AP) — New Orleans tight end Taysom Hill is likely to miss the rest of the season after injuring his knee in the Saints' loss to the Los Angeles Rams. “It looks like an ACL tear,” interim coach Darren Rizzi said Monday. Guerry Smith, The Associated Press Dec 2, 2024 2:34 PM Dec 2, 2024 2:35 PM Share by Email Share on Facebook Share on X Share on LinkedIn Print Share via Text Message New Orleans Saints interim head coach Darren Rizzi watches from the sideline during the first half of an NFL football game against the Los Angeles Rams, Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024, in New Orleans. (AP Photo/Gerald Herbert) NEW ORLEANS (AP) — New Orleans tight end Taysom Hill is likely to miss the rest of the season after injuring his knee in the Saints' loss to the Los Angeles Rams. “It looks like an ACL tear,” interim coach Darren Rizzi said Monday. “He’ll probably get a second opinion, but it looks like it will be season-ending.” Hill, who is listed at tight end but plays a variety of roles, was carted off the field after taking a hard hit to his left knee while converting a fourth down on a direct snap in the Saints’ 21-14 loss Sunday to the Rams. The injury came one game after he'd posted a career-best 138 yards rushing and scored three touchdowns in a victory over Cleveland. He also has lined up at quarterback and running back, as well as playing special teams. “It means everybody else has to step up,” Rizzi said. “He fills so many roles, so there are going to be a lot of different guys that have to be a part of the solution there. It’s hard to sit here and tell you we are going to replace Taysom. You can’t. He’s a phenomenal person, player, leader and captain. It’s a big loss." Hill is the third key offensive player the Saints have lost. He joins leading wide receivers Chris Olave, who suffered a concussion in Week 9 and has not played since, and Rashid Shaheed, who is out for the year after tearing a meniscus in Week 7. Rizzi said guard Nick Saldiveri also might miss the remaining five games after injuring his left knee in the fourth quarter one series before Hill. Without Hill, though, the Saints’ quest to get back in the NFC South race became even tougher. At 4-8, they trail Atlanta and Tampa Bay by two games. Hill has 99 catches, 437 carries, 302 passes, 44 touchdowns, 19 tackles and one blocked kick in seven years with the Saints. “I don’t know if I can compare Taysom to anybody else that I’ve ever coached,” Rizzi said. “There’s not a guy that comes to mind that has been able to do all the different things he’s been able to do just in one game, forget about his career." What's working Alvin Kamara had his third 100-yard rushing game of the year and is 106 yards away from the first 1,000-yard season of his eight-year career. He needs only 39 more yards to set a career high. His 206 carries are the third most in his career. What needs help Los Angeles averaged 5.4 yards per carry, finishing with 156 yards. Rams running back Kyren Williams said they knew at halftime they would win if they stuck to the ground game, and he carried seven times on the opening series of the third quarter as they took the lead. The Saints have allowed 5.1 yards per carry for the season — tied for last with the New York Giants. Stock up Signed in late October after Shaheed’s season-ending surgery, Marquez Valdes-Scantling has become Derek Carr’s go-to receiver for big plays. His 28-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter was the Saints’ longest gain of the day and his fourth score in the past three games. Stock down Tight end Foster Moreau, a reliable performer all year, could not handle Rams outside linebacker Jared Verse on the Saints’ final offensive snap, allowing him to hit Carr as he released a pass on fourth-and-3 from the Los Angeles 9 with New Orleans trailing by 7. Injuries Although the news was bad for Hill and Saldiveri, Rizzi said he expected starting center Erik McCoy to play Sunday against the Giants. McCoy was scratched against the Rams after aggravating a groin injury two weeks earlier versus Cleveland in his first game back since missing seven in a row. Rizzi said oft-injured running back Kendre Miller, who has played in two games this year, might return from a hamstring injury Sunday. Key number 2 — The number of sacks for the Saints, not enough to keep Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford from finding his rhythm in the second half. In the Rams’ last five losses, he has been sacked 20 times. In their last five wins, he has been sacked three times. Next steps With their NFC South hopes on life support, the Saints travel to face the reeling Giants, who have lost seven in a row. ___ AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/nfl Guerry Smith, The Associated Press See a typo/mistake? The Jets have lost 10 of their first 13 games this season, including Sunday’s 32-26 overtime loss to the Dolphins, which is why they’ve been eliminated from playoff contention for the 14th straight season and still have four more games to play. But the bigger problem is the way the Jets are losing, because when you keep finding a way to come out on the wrong end of games you should win -- like the Jets did, once again, after taking the lead over the Dolphins, who had no timeouts, in the final minute of regulation, it’s not just the people outside the locker room who start questioning everything. The guys inside the locker room do too, just like receiver Garrett Wilson did late Sunday afternoon as he stood in the back of the Jets' hushed locker room. “Losing, period, sucks,” Wilson said. “And [losing] when you’re up in the fourth quarter? All the sudden it starts to feel like you have a losing problem – it’s like you have like a gene, or some shit." This has been a problem for the Jets for much of the last decade -- there’s a reason they have the longest playoff drought in NFL (and NBA, MLB, and NHL). But it’s a particularly acute problem for guys like Wilson, who were on this team in 2022 when the Jets lost six straight to end the season after putting themselves in prime position for a playoff spot. And then lived through Aaron Rodgers getting hurt four snaps into 2023, sending the season spiraling down the tubes before it could get started. And then, with Rodgers finally on the field for the first 13 games of this season, the Jets on Sunday became the first team in franchise history to lose five games after holding a lead in the fourth quarter. “It’s not like we’re just going out there and getting our butt beat from start to finish,” Wilson said. “No, no, no. We have a chance to go win the game, we’re supposed to win the game. Odds are in our favor, and we’re finding a way to lose the game. So it’s just frustrating for sure.” That’s enough for a guy like Wilson or the rest of the Jets' young core of Sauce Gardner and Breece Hall, who were all drafted in 2022, to start openly admitting they don’t know what’s wrong or how to fix it. “I don’t think it’s a mindset,” Wilson said. “The mindset is the opposite, but whether or not you can make right on your mindset is different. If you can match your actions up with your mindset, is two different things. So no, the mindset is right, the process is right, but at the end of the day, we’ve got to stop being losers. Period.” Losing this way – the Jets have now blown three consecutive fourth-quarter leads, falling to the Colts, Seahawks, and Dolphins – is enough to make anyone uncomfortable, including two guys who know what success looks and feels like: Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams. Rodgers bristled when the Jets' 14-season streak of missing the postseason was mentioned after the game, and that it’s almost hard to do that. “What’s the question?” he said. And then wasn’t much more thoughtful when posed the clarification, asking why it has happened to the Jets. “I mean, I’ve been here -- I’ve started one year, so,” Rodgers said. “I’m part of it for one year. It’s disappointing.” Adams seemed just as frustrated and at a loss for an explanation after a game where Rodgers threw for 300 yards for the first time in almost exactly three years and he and Wilson both went over 100 yards receiving for the first time as teammates. “[Sunday] was a fun day,” Adams said. “It’s just one of those years, man. It’s weird. And it sucks. ... Typically you work as hard as we do it’s supposed to lead to wins, and it can kind of be demoralizing a little bit.” It’s clearly demoralizing for Wilson, who will be in line for a contract extension after this season and is off to the best three-year start of any receiver in Jets history. And yet finds himself at a loss for why the Jets are 17-30 since his name was called in the draft. “I don’t know, man,” Wilson said. " I really don’t know. I’m trying to figure it out. I’m trying to play my part to make it switch, make it change, but I don’t know. I’m trying to figure it out." But as the losing seeps into the psyche and soul of the Jets' key players, and they start to make decisions about their respective futures, there’s a risk that they’ll see changing organizations as a better bet than changing this organization from the inside. Considerations for a potential transfer fee for Rashford would have to take into account the inflation of the market, the financial strength of the buying club, and the player's desire to move. Given his contract situation and the demand for top-quality forwards, it is not unreasonable to suggest that Rashford could command a transfer fee well above his current market value.
Pune, Dec. 08, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cyber Insurance Market Size Analysis: “ The SNS Insider report indicates that the Cyber Insurance Market size was valued at USD 15.3 billion in 2023 and is expected to grow to USD 97.3 billion by 2032, expanding at a CAGR of 22.8% over the forecast period of 2024-2032. ” The Cyber Insurance Market is growing significantly, owing to the complexity and numbers of cyberattacks taking place and the need for local businesses to protect themselves from financial harm in this digital age. With the ongoing digital transformation of organizations, they become more susceptible to threats like ransomware, phishing, and data breaches, thus increasing the need for end-to-end cybersecurity solutions. One of the stronger drivers behind this growth is the more restricting regulatory environment, like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe which is forcing businesses to implement increased levels of cyber protection, and cyber insurance. The International Risk Management Institute (IRMI) reported that more than 60% of organizations with 500 or more employees have cyber insurance policies, an industry-wide growth trend in the adoption of such products. Secondly, the spike in targeted cyberattacks on essential infrastructure sectors ranging from healthcare and finance to energy has prompted insurers to develop sector-specific coverages for these sectors are considered high-risk. According to Aon's State of Cyber Security 2024 survey, 40% of healthcare organizations experienced an increase in cyber insurance claims during 2021, driven by ransomware attacks that both disrupted operations and threatened patient data. The market is also driven by advancing technology. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning will give insurers the ability to better evaluate risks and support dynamic pricing models. It has allowed companies to track live cybersecurity risks which, in turn, has provided them intelligence to make more informed coverage decision-making. 80%+ cyber insurance has adopted AI in 2024 according to Cyber Insurance Insights — automating risk and claims handling by cyber insurance providers Additionally, the increasing adoption of cloud computing and the Internet of Things (IoT) is also propelling the market. The need to secure interconnected systems is becoming more urgent, while demand for cyber insurance products is rapidly growing as businesses increasingly depend on them. According to a report from the Global Data Protection Regulation Survey, 70% of those small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) who experienced data breaches in 2023 would have not fully recovered without additional coverage provided by cyber insurance policies. This enables businesses to get covered in financial assistance and, consequently, lessen the impact of data breaches or cyber warfare. First-Party–This segment is also anticipated to grow having a surge in online thievery, hacking occurrences, extortion, and data obliteration. The liability/third-party coverage segment is expected to be the fastest-growing segment during the forecast period. Liability insurance is being increasingly popular as it is now the key part of Enterprise risk management programs designed to shelter enterprises from a network protection failure. This liability coverage is customized for the needs of commercial clients. Additional coverages include: losses due to business interruption; costs associated with data breach and restoration; forensic assistance defending claims from third parties; and coverages not found in typical general liability policies.
