PATRICK Kielty has said he's "still buzzing" after hosting his second-ever Late Late Toy Show. The festive extravaganza beamed into homes across Ireland and the world on Friday night, drawing record-breaking audiences. This year's Toy Show, featuring a Home Alone-inspired theme, attracted an average TV viewing of over 1.6 million, including catch-up viewing on Saturday and Sunday and the repeat broadcast. Some 250 children invaded the McCallister home by getting involved in toy demonstrations, Wicked performances and the inaugural Toy Show County Parade. Across the weekend, the RTE Player broke their Toy Show record with 622,000 streams in Ireland and abroad, including Irish Sign Language streams. Audiences from 139 countries including streams from all 50 states in America and all eight Australian territories tuned in to see Brian Óg’s karaoke moment, Kevin and his Leitrim half dozen and Zara sharing her space facts - 21 per cent of live views came from outside of Ireland. RTE social platforms celebrated demo kids and performers from little Kevins to Wet Bandits, and also showed behind the scenes clips with Paddy after the show. Footage of Brian Óg, Dory, and a rocking performance of Thunderstruck also delighted audiences across the RTE social platforms. There were a whopping 18.4 million video views across all and 1.4m engagements on that content across TikTok , Instagram , Facebook , X and BlueSky. With Patrick Kielty emulating Kevin McCallister, a Christmas tree, and a wrestler to name just some of the extravagant costume changes, the biggest kid of them all, Kielty said: “I can’t believe it’s over for another year but I’m still buzzing from a magical Toy Show last Friday night. "As always that’s down to the amazing kids who knocked it out of the park with their performances, their toy demos and bringing their unique personalities, and to you at home for watching and sharing the love on the night. "The incredible amount our audience watching at home gave to the Toy Show Appeal this year is mind blowing and the difference it will make to kids and their families up, down and across Ireland is truly humbling. "Thank you so much for making it a night to remember." Audiences showed their generosity in enormous numbers through their donations to the Toy Show Appeal, raising €4.9 million this year. Children’s charities across Ireland will see the benefit of these funds in the year ahead with the total figure raised since its inception in 2020 now reaching beyond €26 million. Denise Charlton, Chief Executive of Community Foundation Ireland said: “The huge generosity of The Late Late Toy Show viewers will transform young lives in every county. "On behalf of the Community Foundation and our voluntary, community and charitable partners, I want to sincerely thank everyone who took part in this truly magical television moment. "As the money continues to flow in, we will now begin the work of turning it into positive action to meet essential needs, address health and wellbeing, as well as, promoting play and creativity. "An application process for groups will open in January and full details will be placed on our website www.communityfoundation.ie ” The Late Late Toy Show with Irish Sign Language (ISL) was also available live on Friday night on the RTE News Channel and RTE Player. Pune: A 55-year-old farmer, who also owned a hotel, was found murdered on Monday evening at Shindawane village in Yavat, about 45km from the city, barely 12 hours after he was abducted by five men in an SUV from Phursungi Phata in Hadapsar. The deceased, Satish Sadba Wagh , was the relative of a sitting member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) from the city. He lived in an independent house close to Blueberry hotel at Manjari Farms near Phursungi Phata. "He owned a hotel and a shop, which he had given on rent to third parties," DCP (Zone IV) R Raja told TOI. "We have questioned the victim's family over the possible motive behind the murder. However, so far we haven't received any leads. Our teams are working on certain clues to identify and arrest the suspects. For now, we are questioning four local residents but haven't got any specific information," he added. Senior inspector from the Hadapsar police Santosh Pandhare said, "Wagh went on a morning walk every day. On Monday too, he was out for a walk around 6.30am, and even greeted one of his neighbours when they crossed each other. Moments later, an SUV came and stopped next to him. Three men stepped out and dragged Wagh into the four-wheeler, prompting him to raise an alarm." Stay updated with the latest news on Times of India . US stocks rose Monday, with the Dow finishing at a fresh record as markets greeted Donald Trump's pick for treasury secretary, while oil prices retreated on hopes for a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah. The Dow climbed one percent to a second straight all-time closing high on news of the selection of hedge fund manager Scott Bessent to lead the critical economic policy position. A widely respected figure on Wall Street, Bessent is seen as being in favor of growth and deficit reduction policies and not known overly fond of trade tariffs. The market "breathed a sigh of relief" at Bessent's selection, said Art Hogan from B. Riley Wealth Management. But after an initial surge Monday, the gains in US equities moderated somewhat. While investors are enthusiastic about the possibility of tax cuts and regulatory relief under Trump, "we do have to face the potential for tariffs being a negative as well as a very tight market around immigration, which is not positive for the economy," Hogan said. Earlier, equity gains were limited in Europe as growth concerns returned to the fore with Germany's Thyssenkrupp announcing plans to cut or outsource 11,000 jobs in its languishing steel division. Currently around 27,000 people are employed in the steel division, which has been battered by high production costs and fierce competition from Asian rivals. Elsewhere, crude oil prices fell decisively as Israel's security cabinet prepared to decide whether to accept a ceasefire in its war with Hezbollah, an official said Monday. The United States, the European Union and the United Nations have all pushed in recent days for a truce in the long-running hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, which flared into all-out war in late September. Speaking on condition of anonymity, an Israeli official told AFP the security cabinet "will decide on Tuesday evening on the ceasefire deal." Bitcoin was recently trading under $96,000, having set a record high of $99,728.34 Friday -- the digital currency has soared about 50 percent in value since Trump's election. DIAMONDROCK HOSPITALITY DECLARES FOURTH QUARTER DIVIDENDSHip-hop megastar Jay-Z has emphatically denied accusations in a lawsuit that he and fellow entertainer Sean “Diddy” Combs raped a 13-year-old girl more than two decades ago. The complaint was amended Sunday in U.S. District Court in New York to add Jay-Z as a defendant after originally being filed against Combs in October. It alleges they “took turns assaulting the minor” at a party after the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000. In a statement issued Sunday by Roc Nation, Jay-Z’s entertainment company, he assailed Tony Buzbee, the attorney for the anonymous accuser. “These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!” the statement said. “Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?” The statement called the lawsuit’s claims “idiotic” and something that would be laughable “if not for the seriousness surrounding harm to kids.” “You have made a terrible error in judgment in thinking that all ‘celebrities are the same,’” the statement said. “I’m not from your world. I’m a young man who made it out of the project of Brooklyn. We don’t play these types of games. We have very strict codes and honor. We protect children. ...” Federal prosecutors charged Combs in September with crimes including sex trafficking and racketeering. He has pleaded not guilty. Buzbee, a Texas-based attorney, has filed several lawsuits against Combs since his arrest. The attorney didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. An anonymous celebrity sued Buzbee in Los Angeles County Superior Court in November, accusing the attorney of threatening to “unleash entirely fabricated and malicious allegations of sexual assault” if the celebrity didn’t participate in a “confidential mediation.” The lawsuit said Buzbee alleged the celebrity raped “multiple minors, both male and female, who had been drugged at parties hosted by Combs.” On Sunday, Buzbee pushed back against Jay-Z on social media: “Mr. Carter previously denied being the one who sued me and my firm. He filed his frivolous case under a pseudonym. ... Since I sent the letter on her behalf, Mr. Carter has not only sued me, but he has tried to bully and harass me and this plaintiff. His conduct has had the opposite impact” She is emboldened. I’m very proud of her resolve.”
