NoneJPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM) Shares Down 0.7% – Should You Sell?1 2 3 Kolkata: The Mamata Banerjee govt's focus on human capital formation through a bottom-up approach is leading to an information technology boom in the state, attracting top companies like Infosys, according to principal chief adviser to the CM, Amit Mitra. He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Rising Asia-BCC&I summit on Friday. According to Mitra, 905 new primary schools, 6,095 upper primary schools, 747 secondary schools and 2,096 higher secondary schools had been set up during Banerjee's time in office. Besides, 52 new govt colleges, 543 private colleges and 19 state-aided universities came up during this period. The CM, during the inauguration of the Infosys campus on Wednesday, had said that 45,000 engineers would graduate every year, with a large chunk of them being computer engineers and this would create the backbone of human capital for the IT industry. Mitra pointed out that every dollar spent on human resources result in an addition to GDP of $11. "In the US, 40% of growth is based on human capital," he said According to him, the east constitutes 12.8% of the GDP of the country and this will only increase. "Bengal constitutes 44.3% of the GDP of the east, so once the state grows, the region would grow as well," Mitra added. The summit was also attended by BCC&I president Arnab Basu, Rising Asia president Aniruddha Lahiri, Patton MD Sanjay Budhia and Luxmi Group MD Rudra Chatterjee.
Last night Hunter Biden's lawyers filed a motion to dismiss his California tax fraud case after Joe Biden issued a blanket pardon absolving him of all crimes committed over a 10 year period. "The President’s pardon moots Mr. Biden’s pending and yet to occur sentencing and entry of judgment in this case and requires an automatic dismissal of the Indictment with prejudice," wrote Hunter's lawyer Abbe Lowell in the filing, adding that "this Court must dismiss the Indictment against Mr. Biden with prejudice and adjourn all future proceedings in this matter." Special Counsel David Weiss isn't having it . In a Monday response in opposition, Weiss argued that "The defendant’s motion should be denied since there is no binding authority on this Court which requires dismissal." " As a matter of past-practice in this district, courts do not dismiss indictments when pardons are granted ," Weiss wrote - citing cases involving Steve Bannon, Michael Flynn, Joe Arpaio and Ollie North, Above the Law reports. "Instead, it has been the practice of this court that once an Executive Grant of Clemency has been filed on the docket, the docket is marked closed, the disposition entry is updated to reflect the executive grant of clemency, and no further action is taken by the Court." Although Weiss purported not to have seen the pardon itself (which Lowell inexplicably failed to docket), he took particular umbrage at the suggestion that the prosecution was politically motivated, huffing that “The court similarly found [Biden’s] vindictive prosecution claims unmoored from any evidence or even a coherent theory as to vindictiveness.” Judge Mark Scarsi of the Central District of California has taken no action, thus far. But in Delaware, Judge Maryellen Noreika said in a minute order that she intends to terminate the proceedings, and instructing the government to say by tomorrow if it objects to termination by dismissal. Presumably it does, although no objection has hit the docket as of this writing. -Above the Law Hunter pleaded guilty to the tax charges earlier this year, after a Delaware jury found him guilty of lying about his drug use on a background check form used to purchase a firearm. In Weiss' new filing, he writes: "The defendant did not docket the pardon nor has the government seen it. If media reports are accurate, the Government does not challenge that the defendant has been the recipient of an act of mercy. But that does not mean the grand jury’s decision to charge him, based on a finding of probable cause, should be wiped away as if it never occurred. It also does not mean that his charges should be wiped away because the defendant falsely claimed that the charges were the result of some improper motive. No court has agreed with the defendant on these baseless claims, and his request to dismiss the indictment finds no support in the law or the practice of this district."

More than half a million jobless young people are not looking for work, a leading think tank has warned. The Centre for Social Justice has sounded the alarm about nearly 946,000 people aged 16-24 who are not in education, employment or training – 552,000 of whom are not on the search for a job. It warns the size of this “inactive” age group has increased by more than half in just three years. Many of those not looking for work will suffer from ill-health or a disability. The CSJ wants specialist employment support and training opportunities for people with such challenges, as well as better help from employers. Labour went into the last election with a plan to “get two million people into work and deliver the highest employment levels in the G7”. James Heywood, an expert with the think tank, said: “The Government must commit to tackling economic inactivity, especially among young people. Without supporting people back into the labour market, its ambitious employment targets are simply unachievable. “The rising tide of long-term inactivity will cost the country billions of pounds if left unstemmed.” The CSJ warns that unless action is taken to “reverse the tide” of people stopping working for health reasons, taxpayers will face a “colossal £12billion hole in the public finances in five years time”. Up to £1.5billion of this will be made up of lost tax receipts, it claims. Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall has pledged the Government “will not allow young people not to be in education, employment or training”. But the think tank cautions that the majority of these youngsters are not on the dole so expected “tougher benefit rules” may have limited impact. The CSJ warns there is no room for complacency in efforts to close the “employment gap” between disabled and non-disabled people. It states that between July and September of this year it stood at 27.5 per cent, with just 54.4 per cent of disabled adults in work. Employment minister Alison McGovern said: “These latest figures are yet more evidence of the significant challenges facing our young people, particularly the pandemic generation who have not received the support they need to reach their full potential. “Bold measures in our Get Britain Working white paper will turn this around. We will introduce a Youth Guarantee so every 18-21-year-old in England is earning or learning while we transform Jobcentres and introduce new health, work and skill plans to give everyone – including our young people – the support they need to build a better life.”Viewpoints that differNone

Former Rockstar Games developer Mike York has chimed in on all the fan theories about GTA 6’s second trailer and what the studio really thinks about the rampant speculation. For over one year , GTA fans have anxiously waited for Rockstar to reveal more information about GTA VI ever since the first trailer made its record-breaking debut . In the time since, fans have poured over every social media post , screenshot, in-game update, and just about anything GTA-related for hints at when the next trailer will be unveiled. Time and time again, these theories have failed to come to fruition – but now, a former dev at Rockstar who worked on GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 has revealed the truth about these teases. Former GTA dev says Rockstar “trolls” fans with teases In a new YouTube video, York explained that Rockstar is extremely secretive and said that this actually helps them out, because it creates more “allure” towards what is being worked on. “It creates allure and it creates mystery and it creates people talking about [GTA 6] without them having to do anything,” he said. “The more they’re silent, the better it is, because the more people will be antsy and want to talk about it and have this feeling of not knowing what’s going to happen.” According to York , Rockstar is specifically keeping the trailer date vague, because it’s all a marketing tactic that creates wild fan theories. The ex-dev pointed to the GTA Online moon phase theory . Basically, in 2023, the Moon Festival event ended up aligning with the actual moon on December 5, 2023. This was the date that the first GTA 6 trailer released, so players instantly took that as a sign that history could repeat itself. “What’s cool about this stuff is Rockstar can capitalize on it, and if someone has some big theory, even if they didn’t do it on purpose, they can come in and make it look like they did this thing on purpose a long time ago,” he said. “It’s really neat. In a way, this brings the fans together.” Related: York further added how people always dive into these theories and the devs “geek out” about it behind the scenes, noting how a lot of these things are “trolls.” “It’s a mystery to nowhere. It’s just to have you dig and search for stuff and find it, but even though it won’t lead to something, it’ll bring a chase and a journey for players for years to come and it’s really cool.” The dev ended his video by saying he hopes that players will continue to look for signs, because when he used to work for Rockstar, he found it cool to see all the theories people would come up with. It’s not clear if York’s comments will affect the amount of GTA 6 theories on the net, but with the game still slated to release in Fall 2025 , we’ll have to see what the future holds and if any of these conspiracies end up having a shred of truth to them.Qubetics Set for $0.25, Chainlink Powers DeFi, Ripple’s RLUSD Breakthrough—Buy These Cryptos Now!A record 38,189 permits for foreign, non-European workers, to come to Ireland were issued this year, a 24% increase on 2023. With the Irish economy experiencing full employment against a backdrop of increased economic activity firms have sought increased levels of work permits from the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment (DETE) across various sectors and industries. New data shows the department received almost 45,000 applications this year and granted more than 38,000, made up of 32,480 new permits and 5,709 renewals. The increase came despite a rise last January in the income thresholds for various positions. January also saw a major expansion of the programme with 43 new occupations added to the list including mechanics, electricians, meteorologists, butchers and bakers. More than 12,000 were issued for workers in the healthcare sector mainly for roles in nursing and healthcare assistants. More than 6,500 work permits were granted for professionals working in the tech sector and in excess of 3,500 permits were granted for the Agri sector, mainly for workers in meat processing plants. In terms of nationalities, the Department's figures show India topped the list with 13,147 permits issued followed by Brazil (4,458), Philippines (3,944), China (1,903) and Pakistan (1,690). Over half of all new permits issued were Critical Skills Employment Permits for workers who are qualified in professions where there is a shortage of skills in Ireland such as doctors, nurses, engineers and ICT professionals. The Department said the average salary for these roles was €58,746. "With 2.7m people in Ireland now at work, many industries are finding it difficult to recruit and retain staff in a tight labour market," Minister of State with responsibility for Employment, Emer Higgins said. "Hiring from outside of the European Economic Activity helps supplement our workforce in areas of critical skills." Based on data up until November, meat processing firm Dawn Meats Ireland was the largest single company to be issued permits with 662 workers followed by healthcare facility firms Redwood Extended Care (457), Mowlam Healthcare Services (390), and Nua Healthcare (371). Within the technology sector, Google Ireland was issued 368 permits Amazon Development Centre was issued 341 permits and Amazon Web Services was issued 218. The data shows that 2024 was the first year that Dublin accounted for less than half of the permits issued.
