Soup season is here!

TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu underwent successful surgery Sunday to have his prostate removed, hospital officials said, a procedure that came as he manages multiple crises including the war in Gaza and his trial for alleged corruption . Netanyahu, who has had a series of health issues in recent years, has gone to great lengths to bolster a public image of himself as a healthy, energetic leader. During his trial this month, he boasted about working 18-hour days, accompanied by a cigar. But as Israel's longest-serving leader, such a grueling workload over a total of 17 years in power could take a toll on his well-being. Netanyahu, 75, is among older world leaders including U.S. President Joe Biden, 82 , President-elect Donald Trump, 78 , Brazil's President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva , 79, and Pope Francis , 88, who have come under scrutiny for their age and health issues. Netanyahu's latest condition is common in older men, but the procedure has had some fallout. The judges overseeing his trial accepted a request from his lawyer on Sunday to call off three days of testimony scheduled this week. The lawyer, Amit Hadad, had argued that Netanyahu would be fully sedated for the procedure and hospitalized for “a number of days.” Jerusalem's Hadassah Medical Center announced late Sunday that the procedure had been “completed successfully.” Justice Minister Yariv Levin, a close ally, served as acting prime minister during the operation. Netanyahu is expected to remain hospitalized for several days. With so much at stake, Netanyahu’s health in wartime is a concern for both Israelis and the wider world. As Israel’s leader, Netanyahu is at the center of major global events that are shifting the Middle East . With the dizzying pace of the past 14 months, being incapacitated for even a few hours can be risky. Netanyahu will be in the hospital at a time when international mediators are pushing Israel and Hamas to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and as fighting between Israel and Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels intensifies . Prostate issues are common and in many cases easily treatable. Still, the procedure puts a dent in Netanyahu’s image of vigor at a time when he would want to project strength more than ever, both to an Israeli audience navigating constant threats as well as to Israel’s enemies looking to expose its weaknesses. Netanyahu insists he is in excellent health. His office releases footage of him touring war zones in full protective gear flanked by military officers, or meeting with defense officials on windswept hilltops in youthful dark shades and puffer jackets. But that image was shattered last year when Netanyahu’s doctors revealed that he had a heart condition , a problem that he had apparently long known about but concealed from the public. A week after a fainting spell, Netanyahu was fitted with a pacemaker to control his heartbeat. Only then did staff at the Sheba Medical Center reveal that Netanyahu has for years experienced a condition that can cause irregular heartbeats. The revelation came as Netanyahu was dealing with massive anti-government protests. The news about a chronic heart problem stoked further anger and distrust during extreme political polarization in Israel. Last year, Netanyahu was rushed to the hospital for what doctors said likely was dehydration . He stayed overnight, prompting his weekly Cabinet meeting to be delayed. Earlier this year, Netanyahu underwent hernia surgery , during which he was under full anesthesia and unconscious. Levin served as acting prime minister during the operation. According to Netanyahu’s office, the Israeli leader was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection on Wednesday stemming from a benign enlargement of his prostate. The infection was treated successfully with antibiotics, but doctors said the surgery was needed in any case. Complications from prostate enlargement are common in men in their 70s and 80s, Dr. Shay Golan, head of the oncology urology service at Israel’s Rabin Medical Center, told Israeli Army Radio. Golan spoke in general terms and was not involved in Netanyahu’s care or treatment. He said an enlarged prostate can block proper emptying of the bladder, leading to a build-up of urine that can lead to an infection or other complications. After medicinal treatment, doctors can recommend a procedure to remove the prostate to prevent future blockages, Golan said. In Netanyahu’s case, because the prostate is not cancerous, Golan said doctors were likely performing an endoscopic surgery, carried out by inserting small instruments into a body cavity, rather than making surgical cuts in the abdomen to reach the prostate. The procedure lasts about an hour, Golan said, and recovery is quick. He said that aside from catheter use for one to three days after the procedure, patients can return to normal activity without significant limitations. Home inspections can be nerve-wracking for both buyers and sellers. But they’re also a critical part of the process that can protect you in the long run. A good inspection can save you money by asking the sellers to pay for whatever repairs come up in the process, and it gives the peace of mind that your new home will be hazard-free when you move in. Bringing the right questions to your home inspection can set you up for success. Here are some questions you should always ask your home inspector. Your first question should always be “What does the inspection include?” Make sure you have a good understanding of what it includes and what it leaves out so you’re as informed as possible. Ask them for proof of general liability insurance as well as errors and omissions insurance. This insurance protects both you and the inspector in the event they make a mistake (and even the most experienced professionals sometimes make mistakes). People are also reading... A home inspector’s most vital tools are always their eyes and experience, but some tools help conduct a more comprehensive inspection in a shorter period of time. Common home-inspection tools include thermal imaging, video scopes, drones for an aerial view of the roof, leak detectors, electrical circuit monitors and moisture meters. Keep in mind that while home inspectors are experienced with plumbing and electricity, they’re not usually licensed professionals in those fields. A home inspector can only note visible problems and point you to the right pro to handle them. They’re not likely to detect problems behind the walls without some kind of visible clue, such as stains that indicate leaks. Ask your inspector to identify which issues are the most important ones to fix and which ones are just minor imperfections. Not only is it no problem for you to accompany them on the inspection, it’s often encouraged so you can ask questions and learn about your home and how it works. Pay extra attention to the condition of costly components like the foundation, roof and HVAC system. These components are often difficult and expensive to fix, so you should have a clear understanding of any flaws. Once the inspection is over, ask the inspector what the biggest issues are. They’ll sort through everything they found during the inspection and tell you which problems actually pose a threat. They can also give you an estimated cost of repairs to help you make an informed decision. Afterward, you’ll receive a detailed written report that details their findings and recommendations. Hiring a home inspector usually costs about $450, though the price can change based on specific purposes, home size and where you live. Not all states, cities or municipalities license home inspectors. If your area requires it, verify that your inspector holds the proper licensing. Look for certification from a reputable professional organization such as the American Society of Home Inspectors.Gund ( Kangan), Dec 28: Assistance rendered to stranded tourists by locals in Gund has won the praise of people. Over the years Kashmiri people are known for hospitality and brotherhood and the same was showcased on Friday when the heavy snowfall closed the roads for hundreds of tourists who were on a visit to famous tourist destination of Sonamarg in Ganderbal district. The help and assistance to the tourists stranded amid the snowfall by local Muslims painted a portrait of communal peace and Kashmir’s old syncretic ethos. These qualities, with which Kashmiri people have always been identified, have created a special place for them, in the hearts of tourists visiting Jammu and Kashmir. Heavy snowfall on Friday evening brought normal life to a standstill in Kashmir, and left hundreds of tourists stranded in between the Kangan and Sonamarg tourist destinations due to the slippery roads. With road conditions worsening and vehicles slipping on the snow, the visitors found themselves with no way to continue their journey leaving hundreds of tourists trapped in the area. The local residents of tehsil Gund in the Ganderbal district, particularly areas like Gund, Kullan, Rayil, Gagangir, Sonamarg, Haknar and HariGaniwan , stepped forward to offer crucial help to stranded tourists. With the Jammu and Kashmir policemen seen extending a helping hand to the stranded tourists in the face of these challenges, local communities including Civil Society Tehsil Gund members , Jamia Auqaf committees, volunteers demonstrated extraordinary hospitality, with many opening their homes to the stranded tourists, providing them with warmth, shelter, and food. The stranded tourists were also provided accommodation in Jamia Masjid Gund by the local committee. Apart from providing accommodation, the local residents came on roads serving stranded tourists with warm water, tea and rice. Many Kashmiri families were seen serving tea and water along the road from Gagengar to Hariganiwan. “They are our guests and it is our responsibility to make sure they don’t face any inconvenience, “ Mehraj ud din Khan, a local resident told Greater Kashmir . The gesture shown by the local Kashmiri people to the tourists has won praise from people across the country. The tourists, while praising the hospitality and warmth shown by the people here said that they were touched by the hospitality and help from the people during their tough times while being stuck amid the snow . “The kindness of the locals was heartwarming, we won’t ever forget this in our life, “said a tourist from Maharashtra. “When our vehicle got stuck, we had nowhere to go, but the local people at Gund invited us to their homes. Their generosity in such difficult conditions will stay with us forever,”a tourist from Malaysia told Greater Kashmir . “The people of Kashmir are incredibly kind and this has been an unforgettable experience and memory for us,” said another tourist family. In addition to the local residents’ efforts, police , SDRF, civil administration and army teams also played a crucial role in assisting stranded tourists and residents. They provided food and facilitated medical assistance for those in need, showcasing a united front in the face of adversity. Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq praised the gesture and said it was heartwarming to see Kashmiris open their mosques and homes to stranded tourists amidst heavy snowfall. “This gesture of warmth and humanity reflects our longstanding tradition of hospitality and helping others in times of need,” he said on X. Various social, religious, political organizations and people from different sections of society have hailed the efforts of the local civil society members and youth .

Travis Kelce's ex Kayla Nicole bursts into tears over their breakup as she name-drops Chiefs star in new reality TV showBayern Munich striker Harry Kane has become the fastest man to reach 50 Bundesliga goals, surpassing Erling Haaland. Nevertheless, the England captain's stock at home seems to be falling. Another day, another hat-trick. As Harry Kane completed a seventh Bundesliga treble since joining Bayern Munich at the start of last season, he broke another record in Germany's top flight. The English striker has taken just 43 matches to score 50 goals, seven games quicker than Erling Haaland, who left Borussia Dortmund for Manchester City in 2022. "Harry Kane needs his own ball bag by now," said Bayern sporting director Max Eberl after the 3-0 win over Augsburg in late November, referring to the tradition of hat-trick scorers keeping the match ball. "He always scores so many goals, he always gets to take balls home with him. We'll soon run out of them for training." The match ball budget is of no consequence to the Bavarian giants, whose sights are set firmly on reclaiming the title that slipped from their grasp for the first time in 12 years last season. That surprising loss to an inspired, and unbeaten, Bayer Leverkusen side kept Kane from breaking his trophy drought. Despite a stellar record in Germany on top of more than 200 Premier League goals for his boyhood club Tottenham Hotspur and two major final appearances for England, silverware has eluded the 31-year-old. But with Bayern sitting clear at the top at the Bundesliga and looking strong in the Champions League, there is a growing sense this season could change all that. Praise from Bayern big names "It was somehow typical Harry Kane," said Bayern coach Vincent Kompany after Kane broke the record in a game that was 0-0 for the first hour. "It was close in the first half, close, close, close, and then it happens, I think three goals in 15 minutes. Of course, he can do that." His teammate Joshua Kimmich was also quick to praise the man signed for €95 million, another Bundesliga record. "World class," concluded the Germany captain, who went on to say that the Bayern players "trust him blindly" from the penalty spot, after he tucked away a 24th and 25th consecutive penalty in the Augsburg game. His last miss was for England against France in the 2022 World Cup quarterfinal. That miss, and a series of lethargic displays at Euro 2024, have led fans and pundits in Kane's home country to call for the England captain to be dropped. He missed out for England's recent 3-0 Nations League victory over Greece, where replacement Ollie Watkins scored. Kane said at the time he was a "little bit shocked" at being dropped by interim coach Lee Carsley, who will make way for German coach Thomas Tuchel in January. "I've made it clear that I want to start every game," Kane told the BBC at the time. "Sometimes I feel like there's a perception that maybe I'm just here because I'm the captain, but it's not the case. I'm in the best form I've been in in my career." Still as good as ever Kane re-iterated that he felt as good as ever after the Augsburg hat-trick, adding that he'd do his "talking on the pitch". He also said he was "experienced enough to know that comes with being one of the top players, one of the top strikers." There's little doubt in the minds of anyone at Bayern that he remains at the top of his game, regardless of the misgivings in England. With Tuchel, who coached Kane during his first season at Bayern, set to take the reigns until the 2026 World Cup, he looks well set to continue for England. "I feel very privileged to be his coach. The guy is super humble, he's the first out there on the pitch every single day and anything you ask of him, he will do it," said Tuchel of Kane while the pair were at Bayern. "He's a huge personality who becomes a shark on the field, because he wants to score, he wants to win, and he does it on a daily basis." The combination of killer instinct on the pitch and consistent professionalism off it have helped Kane to a string of records and personal achievements. Will this be the season, he finally gets the trophy he craves? Edited by: Louis OelofseLearn About the Importance of Commercial Pressure Washing With Todd's Pressure Washing 12-10-2024 11:04 PM CET | Politics, Law & Society Press release from: ABNewswire Madisonville, LA - The Madisonville, LA area is home to many different kinds of businesses. From cozy cafes and shops to hotels, offices, and boutiques, tourists and local residents have no shortage of places to visit and spend a little money. However, if commercial property owners wish to receive their patronage, they will need to ensure that their business spaces are visually attractive enough to draw customers in to begin with. To help them achieve this goal, Todd's Pressure Washing [ https://www.toddspressurewashing.com/ ] shares knowledge and tips about the commercial pressure washing [ https://www.toddspressurewashing.com/pressure-washing-company-in-st-tammany-parish-la/ ] process below. The Consequences of Losing Business Curb Appeal Over time, the exterior surfaces of a property will accumulate debris such as dirt, mud, moss, mold, dead bugs, and bird droppings. It does not take a big imagination to realize that these substances drastically reduce the curb appeal of a commercial property. If these surfaces are not cleaned, and these unwanted blemishes are left alone, it will not take long before customers notice. It is likely that they will consciously notice the mess, which may cause them to leave negative reviews. On the other hand, it is equally likely that they will subconsciously make note of the mess instead. In other words, they may not even think about the condition of the business-instead, they will simply drive past without ever considering stopping in. How to Pressure Wash a Business's Exterior Surfaces To pressure wash a commercial property's outside surfaces, the correct set of equipment needs to be collected. This equipment mainly consists of pressure washing pumps and hoses. The way these tools work is simple. Pumps pressurize the water, and hoses channel the water onto the structure's dirty surfaces. This water will proceed to strip away debris and leave the commercial property looking brighter, cleaner, and more beautiful. In some cases, debris will not wash away so easily. When this occurs, the use of treatment chemicals, such as sodium hypochlorite, may be appropriate depending on the surface and debris in question. Todd's Pressure Washing uses biodegradable chemicals to wear down tough stains as needed, ensuring a perfect cleaning that leaves businesses in stunning condition. Why Professional Pressure Washing? While pressure washing can considerably improve the appearance of a commercial property, it is also true that business owners have many responsibilities to attend to already. There has been no shortage of speculation about Deion Sanders coaching this NFL team or that NFL team. Speculation, mind you, not even rumors or anonymously sourced reports. In a media landscape desperate for engagement, you aren’t going to miss when putting, say, Coach Prime and the Dallas Cowboys in the same sentence. And so it snowballs. Up in Colorado, where he coaches an 8-2 team that controls its destiny, Sanders just sort of smiles and waves it off. “I’m happy where I am,” Prime said this week. "I’m good. I’ve got a kickstand down. You know what a kickstand is? ... That means I’m resting. I’m good. I’m happy. I’m excited. I’m enthusiastic about where I am. I love it here. I truly do.” The lengthy list of college coaches who say they aren’t going anywhere that wind up going somewhere — often with head-spinning speed — prevents anyone from taking Sanders’ pronouncement at full value, no offense to him. Tommy Tuberville, after all, once said he would only leave Ole Miss in a “pine box.” He wound up taking a private jet to the Auburn job. Still, the visual of Prime content on his bike, his kickstand down, surveying all the good things happening around him presently, and seemingly into the future, is pretty compelling. Consider that on Thursday, during an appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show,” of Carrollton, Georgia, . The former USC commit, who fielded a late Georgia recruiting push, seemed eager to take over for Sanders’ son, Shedeur, who will head to the NFL Draft. “I don’t think there is a better person to learn how to read coverages from than Coach Prime,” Lewis said. Welcome to Prime 2.0 — at least in terms of his Colorado era. It started as a seemingly chaotic, and perhaps cutthroat, flip of the Buffaloes roster that turned a 1-11 team into a sensation last season that led to sold-out stadiums, massive television ratings and endless media coverage. Could it work? Would it work? Should it work? Now cruising along with on-field success, there is a proof of concept. Sanders is still going to go heavy on the transfer portal — but there is a Moneyball-esque strategy behind it. He is also going, it would seem, to be surgically striking the high school ranks. Lewis is expected to be the start of a train of commits and flips over the next few weeks from highly touted prospects. The next might be , a massive four-star offensive lineman from Alabama, who decommitted from USC earlier this week. Then all recruiting eyes are on the half-dozen prospects — including Ohio State and Alabama verbals — who visited Boulder last weekend from Florida’s IMG Academy. The talent that Colorado can get is particularly notable in the context of the Big 12, which doesn’t have big, traditional recruiting brands ... but does have an automatic bid to the playoff. It’s a pretty good situation. There is no more charismatic coach in college football than Deion Sanders. Now that he can point to victories and fun and NFL development, this is no longer about taking a flier on him. That’s what Travis Hunter did when, as the No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2021, he signed with Coach Prime at Jackson State. Three years later — and having followed Deion to Colorado — and go top five in the draft. Sanders has been patient with high school recruiting. He knew he wasn’t getting much right away at CU, so he barely bothered. Even now, he isn’t flying around to visit prospects — they need to come to him — and he isn’t offering scores of kids. He only wants players he believes can contribute as a freshman. Otherwise, Prime argues, why not just get an older, more experienced player from the portal? “Let's just say we get 25 high school players,” he explained last week. “How many are going to play their freshman year? At the most, let's say four or five. "Now you've got 20 guys redshirting. So when you go through that spring with 20 guys redshirting, how many are you going to retain after that spring? How many are going to jump in the portal on you?” Sanders said his research suggests half will leave. “Well why don't I just focus on 10 [high school recruits] then?” he said. “See, when we grab a freshman, we expect that guy to play. We're not looking to just redshirt you and develop you. No, no, no. We're looking for you to come in and play some football. "So our approach is somewhat different and heavily scrutinized, heavily criticized, but we know what we're doing." The Buffaloes are now winning on the field in ways few envisioned. They are acquiring talent the same way. There was no limit to the number of critics or skeptics who said this would bomb out, or if it somehow succeeded, Prime would bail as soon as Shedeur and Travis were done. Anything can happen. This is college football. But Deion Sanders looks like he’s settling in, not shipping out. Kickstand down, the plan is coming together.
