The Detroit Lions are set to take on the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, and as a result, they have released their first injury report of the week on Monday. A total of four Lions players sat out at practice, including left tackle Taylor Decker (knee) and defensive linemen D.J. Reader (shoulder), Josh Paschal (knee) and Levi Onwuzurike (hamstring). Two other players were listed on the injury report in cornerbacks Carlton Davis (knee) and Emmanuel Moseley (hamstring). Davis was a limited participant in practice, while Moseley turned in a full session. Davis sat out last week's game with knee and thumb issues, but his limited session suggests he's got a chance to return this week. Moseley was a surprise inactive in Week 13 after he wasn't listed on the injury report. Head coach Dan Campbell touched on both players on Saturday and called Davis questionable for the Green Bay game, but said Moseley will be good to go. Moseley, who was activated off injured reserve on Nov. 23, gave an update on his status on Sunday, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press . “I just felt a little something, like a little sore," Moseley revealed. "Something that was a little off and we just wanted to be cautious, especially with my history. Everything is good now." Campbell revealed that Decker is still considered day-to-day and is feeling better, but a decision on whether or not he'll play against the Packers will "come down to the wire." “Better and better,” Campbell said, per Jeff Risdon of Lions Wire . “I still think he’s day-to-day. I think it will come down to the wire with him whether he can go this week. He’s certainly better (than he was before Thanksgiving).” Onwuzurike, Paschal and Reader all got hurt in the Thanksgiving Day win over the Chicago Bears. Campbell revealed on Saturday that Onwuzurike and Paschal are considered day-to-day but he isn't optimistic about them playing in Week 14. Reader's status remains up in the air. Now, a look at the injury reports for both teams from Monday. Rocket Lab Sets Launch Window to Deploy Synspective SatelliteNFL will consider replay assist for facemask penalties and other playsIt was back in May that a report came out regarding another to rival the likes of the Steam Deck and ROG Ally. It said the company was working on a new addition to the Legion Go lineup, this time aiming to offer a more budget-friendly option for portable gaming fans. added some details to the leaked hardware, which attached the Lenovo Legion Go S name to the product and a smaller screen over the original. Today, came through with a first look at the upcoming device via some leaked renders. As seen below, the renders show that the S hardware will be sporting a white shell, leaving the original Legion Go's black offering intact. Lenovo looks like it's going for a more rounded-out ASUS ROG Ally-style look for the new handheld, too, smoothing out the straight edges seen on the regular Go. As anyone familiar with the Legion Go will point out, though, the glaring difference seen in the renders is the lack of detachable controllers. The original version lets players slide out the side controllers, similar to a Nintendo Switch, and use it separately from the screen — which has its own built-in kickstand. The right controller could even be used as a vertical mouse once detached. If the renders are accurate, having built-in controls would make the Legion Go S similar to almost all other high-end gaming handhelds in the market. As for Internals, the S is rumored to ship with a chip from AMD's Ryzen Z2 Rembrandt (Zen 3+ and RDNA2) platform. Retail pricing information for the S version has not leaked just yet, but it's expected to debut at a much lower price than the standard Legion Go, which goes . regarding Lenovo's future handheld plans also revealed that the company is working on a next-generation Legion Go model as well. Not much has leaked about this version, but it could feature much higher-end , bumping up the performance and efficiency over the original. As with all reports, take this with a grain of salt. We will have to wait for an official announcement to see what exactly Lenovo has planned for its future in the handheld gaming hardware space.

EUREKA, California, EE.UU. Algunos niños preguntaron: “¿Puedo llamar a mi madre?”. Desplácese a terreno elevado o tierra adentro ahora. Manténgase alejado de la costa hasta que los funcionarios locales digan que es seguro regresar”. That cliche means something a little different for NC State and East Carolina. The Wolfpack and Pirates face each other in the Military Bowl on Saturday in Annapolis, Maryland. Then they'll see each other again in about eight months. NC State opens the 2025 season at home against ECU on Aug. 30. There is certainly plenty of familiarity between these two programs, even though NC State (6-6) is in the ACC and East Carolina (7-5) is in the AAC. The teams — located about 80 miles apart — have met 32 times, most recently in 2022 when the Wolfpack won 21-20. From 1970-87, these teams played each other every year. Since 2004, they haven't gone more than two consecutive seasons without meeting. “Hour and a half down the road and you're playing — whether you play every year or don't play every year — I think it's still a rivalry," East Carolina coach Blake Harrell said. "Our fans still get excited. They still think that's a rivalry. Our players still think that's a rivalry.” NC State leads the series 19-13 and has won three straight — but East Carolina won three in a row before that. “It's weird playing a team that we open with next year,” Wolfpack coach Dave Doeren said. “We don't play them that much. We play them every three years, so it's really a roster turnover. Every time we see them, it's a different ballclub for the most part. But yeah, finishing with who you open with is unique.” NC State and East Carolina met in the Peach Bowl in 1992 — during an eight-year hiatus in their regular-season series. ECU scored three touchdowns in the final 7:26 to win 37-34. “We had that time during COVID, we obviously all had some down time. I remember searching through YouTube, just past games to check out. That game did pop up," Harrell said. "That was a special moment for that team and that program at the time, and this could be a special moment for this team and this program.” NC State is playing in the Military Bowl for the first time. East Carolina was supposed to participate in 2021, but the game was canceled. The Pirates lost to Maryland in the 2010 edition. Harrell took over on an interim basis in the middle of the season when Mike Houston was fired. After leading the Pirates to four straight wins, Harrell had the interim tag removed . Freshman CJ Bailey took over at quarterback for NC State this season after concussion problems ended Grayson McCall's career. Bailey has completed 64.1% of his passes. Only Philip Rivers and Russell Wilson threw for more touchdowns as a freshman for the Wolfpack than Bailey, who has 14 TD tosses. “He's a really good player. Doesn't play like a freshman to me,” Harrell said. "Makes really good throws down the field, has a really good arm, and then if he takes off scrambling or if the quarterback-designed run game, he's a long strider. He can eat up some ground. Nobody ever catches him." Get poll alerts and updates on the AP Top 25 throughout the season. Sign up here . The vent fan for the fumes is so loud my ears would ring for hours after. I bought these AirPods Pro 2 and WOW! The ANC (active noise cancellation) completely removed the fan noise and also the sound of the air compressor. Even the hiss of the airbrush I was using! All I could hear was my music. Before this, I always found traditional neck pillows uncomfortable and would end up ditching them halfway through the flight and getting frustrated. The Trtl pillow is adjustable — you wrap the pillow around your neck and secure it with Velcro, and if you find it's too loose, just make it a bit tighter! I've truly never slept better on a plane than with this pillow. " Promising review: "Used it for a 14-hour flight to Japan last week, and it helped tremendously. This was the first time I was able to sleep on the plane so this helped tremendously. Definitely a must-have for travel. It is very light so I was able to easily pack it in my under-the-seat wheeled trolley. I want to emphasize how much the light warmth of the fleece (and I don't like being hot) was just right to help me nod off to sleep. I soaked for two days in this bath with a very painful sunburn (realizing quickly that pregnancy makes my skin more sensitive to the sun) and my sunburn was gone by day three with the itch decreased and no peeling. I highly recommend this product! FYI: The only inconvenience is the claylike residue that builds up around your bath drain. If you clean it while it is still wet, it comes off very easily." — Audrey "I first started using this product when I developed unbearably itchy, dry skin during my pregnancy. I'm going to buy more for the guest room. I'm certain our guests will enjoy them as much as we have. Also, the price was amazing for the quality. " — Kindle Customer Get them from Amazon for $36.04+ (available in nine sizes and 19 colors). 21. A plush, fast-drying bath pillow with an upper cushion that'll cradle their head, neck, and shoulders in case they're in such a blissful trance, that they happen to doze off. Now all there's left for them to do is lay back and figure out how to tell their loved ones that they've officially moved into the tub. It's also machine-washable! Promising review: "This took my bath relaxing game to a whole new level. I love how comfortable this is, and the suction cups do a great job of staying in place. It has nice hook so you can hang it up to air dry, and on top of that it comes with a little case to put it in when you throw it in the washer! I love this product and have caught even my husband using it some of the time. I would 100% buy again if I had to, but I have had it a few months and the quality looks like it will last ." — Victorya Williams Get it from Amazon for $37.99 . 22. A chic cross-back apron (with pockets!) their OOTD will be grateful for because they'll be protecting it from the murder scene they're about to turn their kitchen into. It's made of soft, breathable linen with a cross-back design to help them avoid that dreadful neck strain. It's so cute, they'll *almost* want to wear another apron over this one, but they can just toss it into the washing machine when it's time to clean. Magic Linen is a family-run small business based in Lithuania that makes the most gorgeous handmade textiles, from bedding to tablecloths. Promising reviews: "The absolute best thing I have ever treated myself to. Slip it on. No buckles, no ties, and no adjusting. Washes and wears beautifully. This is my second one. I also ordered my daughter one. She loves it as much as I do." — kathdona " High quality fabric, beautifully made. The apron is even better looking in person than in the photos. Fits comfortably and is easy to move about in. This has exceeded my expectations and I’m planning on baking all weekend wearing this beautiful apron!" — Nancy McLaughlin Get it from Magic Linen on Etsy for $54.60 ($78; available in sizes S–XXL and 14 colors). 23. A cooling, memory foam contoured sleep mask that'll help improve their sleep quality because it puts zero pressure on their eyes and blocks out light while still allowing them to freely blink. Cons: It might make it a little harder for them not to hit that snooze button...oh well. Promising review : " The BEST BEST BEST and most comfortable sleep mask I’ve found. Night shifter for years, and have tried everything. Many other sleep masks have some qualities but not all. Some are high quality material but let light in, others are comfortable but material frays or cones apart after a few months, some are good for blackout but have a hard metal adjustment clasps on the band hurts when you sleep on it. This one has an adjustable coast on the band but I don’t feel it when I’m sleeping like others. This one is AMAZINGLY SOFT, VERY THICK, plush, high-quality material, quality stitching that won’t come apart like so many others that are cheaply made, and it’s EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE even though it’s a good price. Very impressed and pleasantly surprised." — . Get it from Amazon for $22.99+ (available in seven colors). 24. A pair of chunky Circus lug sole boots — many reviewers are comparing them to the pricey Prada ones! Who says long walking days should be limited to sneakers? These have a thick platform design with heel padding that'll give your bestie some extra height while remaining super comfy. Prime members: You can try before you buy ! Promising reviews: "I'm so happy I bought these! They are an excellent alternative to spending $1,200 on the Prada Chelsea boots. They look basically identical and are ridiculously comfy. Sure you can get other Chelsea style boots for like $35 to $45, but they are usually super uncomfortable. These just feel so nice...They don't pinch and my foot doesn't slip around inside them. I sized up by a half a size like I like to do for boots but I probably didn't have to because these maybe run just a tiny bit roomy. This is my best shoe purchase on Amazon, I'm just so impressed. I was hoping for a comfy boot I could wear with tights or fishnets and skirts/dresses that would be ideal for walking around and doing touristy things on an upcoming vacation to Nola, and these ended up being exactly what I wanted. Beautiful and well made. Buy them!" — AL Get them from Amazon for $25.74+ (available in women's sizes 5–13 and 17 styles). 25. And a gorgeous pair of Huarache slip-ons if they'd rather skip out on the heels for any events coming up that require something more formal than sneakers. These have a miraculous way of perfectly molding to your feet, meaning they'll spend little to no time breaking them in! Macarena Collection is a small biz based in Buena Park, California, and specializes in gorgeous handmade Mexican shoes, clothing, and accessories. Promising reviews: "Beautiful shoes. I expected them to be stiffer than they were when they arrived, but they arrived already pretty soft and pliable. They'll only get comfier as they're stretched out through use . True to size. Would highly recommend." — Lauren Boyer "Love, love, love these shoes! They were so comfortable right from the get-go. The color is beautiful, they arrived quickly, and they are my new favorite summer shoe." — Sharon Get them from Macarena Collection on Etsy for $46.49 (originally $61.99; available in women's sizes 5–10). 26. A set of memory foam keyboard and mouse pads to help improve the alignment of their hard-working hands by keeping them level with their keyboard. Plus, spending the morning answering emails while resting their wrists on the soft padding is something they'll need to experience to truly appreciate. Promising review : "I work a lot on the computer and started noticing my wrists had been feeling really achy while typing, even driving. I kind of got nervous that it was a first sign of early arthritis or something. But I ordered this hoping it was just how I was positioning my hands while typing. THANKFULLY that was indeed the case, because this really helped give my wrists a break while on the computer, and the soreness I was feeling went away. Its very comfortable and nicely made. I would definitely recommend." — SJ Get it from Amazon for $9.97 (available in 18 colors/prints). 27. A rechargeable hand warmer that you may think is a little *extra*, but might actually be a total lifesaver as the days get chillier, and their precious little fingies could use a warm hug. It also doubles as a power bank for their phone, which is definitely a bonus for when they're out and about all day! It has three heat levels, only takes seconds to heat up, and is USB rechargeable. Promising review: "This hand warmer is amazing! My hands are constantly cold and I've tried all sorts of products to help keep them warm but nothing has worked until now. I charge the hand warmer every night with a standard USB charger and the next day, I have hours of warmth. The three temperature settings are very helpful — I use the highest setting when I'm outdoors for long periods of time and the lower settings when I'm indoors (e.g., sitting at my desk or in a cold movie theater ). I've already given hand warmers as gifts to several cold-handed friends and family members and they're loving it as well. I hope Ocoopa comes out with a foot warmer next!" — RK Get it from Amazon for $14.99+ (available in eight colors and in multipacks). 28. And a small yet mighty personal space heater , because while heels are what their office 'fit is begging for, the cold weather has other ideas. This'll keep them (and only them!) nice and toasty warm. Promising review : "I bought this to use under my desk to keep my feet warm. It's perfect and it's little (about the size of a medium coffee), so it's not in the way of me hitting it with my feet. There's a safety button on the bottom so the heater stops working when it's tipped over, picked up, or not on a leveled surface. I like that feature a lot. Definitely recommend purchasing if you need a little heater at a decent price!" — Ta2dmom Get it from Amazon for $19.99 (available in four colors). 29. I have never used a bed desk tray for my laptop... just my always moving lap and constant adjustment of my body. NO MORE! These tables are FANTASTIC! The two lucky recipients of the gifts are already planning to order them for friend's birthdays and holiday gifts. Me too!" — j.r.m. Get it from Amazon for $48.88 (available in two sizes). 31. A cooling full body pillow — it'll work *wonders* for anyone, whether they're pregnant or not! Designed for anyone who could use some extra support, this'll let them finally kiss those nights of tossing and turning goodbye. As soon as they snuggle up with it, they'll be out like a light. Promising reviews: "I'm a side sleeper and have a lot of neck problems. I couldn't find the right pillow but read somewhere that this kind of pillow could help. It's perfect! I haven't had ANY neck problems and I found I can now sleep in a number of positions comfortably. Best of all I wake up feeling rested! " — Sexy Shoes "I’m going to be honest — I was weary of buying another pregnancy pillow. This is my fourth pregnancy, and I have tried a few different ones throughout the years. They typically make me feel claustrophobic and as if I can’t move in my sleep. So, I did a lot of research and picked this based on reviews. This pillow is much more comfortable and not as large/cumbersome or stiff as others. Material is soft too. I definitely recommend! " — Anna Get it from Amazon for $49.94+ (available in three colors). An online debate over foreign workers in tech shows tensions in Trump’s political coalition

Steelers QB Russell Wilson is spreading the wealth on offenseNEW YORK (AP) — Shortly before he was to be flogged and imprisoned for eight years, Mohammad Rasoulof fled Iran. His weekslong journey would take him from Tehran, through rural Iranian villages, on foot across a mountainous borderland and ultimately to Hamburg, Germany. As arduous and dangerous as the trip was, Rasoulof’s travels had an added wrinkle: He was trying to finish a movie at the same time. A week after arriving in Germany, Rasoulof would premiere his film, “The Seed of the Sacred Fig” at the Cannes Film Festival in France. As he fled, Rasoulof was preoccupied with the movie’s edit, which was being carried out in Germany. “I remember when I was sitting in the car that was driving me to the border,” Rasoulof says. “I had my laptop and I was taking notes and sending them to my editor. The two friends who were taking me kept saying, ‘Put that thing away for a second.’” In Cannes, “The Seed of the Sacred Fig” won a special jury prize and Rasoulof was celebrated with a 13-minute standing ovation. The movie has since been hailed as one of the best of the year, and arguably its most daring. Rasoulof made “Sacred Fig” clandestinely in Iran, directing scenes from a separate location to avoid raising suspicions. (The opening titles read: “When there is no way, a way must be made.”) Its story — a devastating family drama set during the 2022 protests that engulfed Iran — would surely only add to Rasoulof’s prison sentence. So after all of this, how is he feeling? When he recently met with The Associated Press for an interview, Rasoulof shrugged. “Ordinary,” he says. Rasoulof, 52, has a more gentle, bemused presence than some of his films would suggest. But how could Rasoulof, after what he’s lived through this year, feel anything like ordinary? “I still haven’t grasped the meaning of exile,” he explains. “I think it will take some time. The feeling of that void has not hit me yet, and I think it may never come.” Rasoulof has been busy traveling from film festival to film festival. In September, he and his 24-year-old daughter attended the Telluride festival in Colorado. Many more such stops were to come. Since fleeing Iran, Rasoulof has effectively been immersed in the world he’s long known: cinema. “Maybe I am living in the world of cinema, and maybe that’s why things are so familiar,” he agrees. “Maybe that’s why I don’t feel I’m in exile.” “The Seed of the Sacred Fig,” currently playing in theaters, is the Oscar submission from Rasoulof’s adoptive home, Germany. He’s settled in with his family, grateful for how the country has welcomed him. Speaking through an interpreter, Rasoulof grants that he’ll probably always mentally have a bag packed, ready to return to Iran should the chance ever come. But what “home” constitutes has changed for him. “I might be able to change this concept of home for myself,” he says. “I walk on the streets here and I see people of different colors and forms from all over the place, and they all call this place home. So there’s always the chance that one can build something new.” How oppressive politics can infiltrate the home is central to “The Seed of the Sacred Fig.” It concerns a family of four: Iman (Missagh Zareh), a lawyer newly appointed to the Revolutionary Court in Tehran; his wife, Najmeh (Soheila Golestani) and their two daughters, Rezvan (Mahsa Rostami) and Sana (Setareh Maleki). Iman is proud of his high position, but, when the government crackdown on protesters following the death of Mahsa Amini accelerates, his daughters are increasingly at odds with him. After Iman's gun goes missing, his wife and daughters turn into suspects. “The Seed of the Sacred Fig,” populated with real cellphone videos from the protests, plays out as an excruciating microcosm of Iranian society. “It wasn’t like I put those videos in. They just came in,” says Rasoulof. “The reality is that it was through those videos I realized what happened. When the Woman, Life, Freedom movement occurred, I was in prison.” Rasoulof has spent several spells in Tehran’s Evin Prison. In 2010, he was arrested on set for filming without a permit. In 2022, he was jailed for seven months after pursuing the release of another of Iran’s most prominent filmmakers, Jafar Panahi. Panahi, who secretly made the film “No Bears,” was only released in 2023 after commencing a hunger strike. “My windows at home opened to the hills that have the Evin prison in them,” says Rasoulof. “I knew behind those walls many of my friends were sitting.” Rasoulof, inspired by the courage of the younger generation, resolved to pour the same spirit into “The Seed of the Sacred Fig.” Although it wasn’t until Rasoulof’s appeal of his sentence failed that he resolved to flee, he grants that deciding to make “Sacred Fig” essentially sealed his fate. “Making this film was part of that decision,” he says. “Although I had made up my mind earlier, because it was such a bitter decision, I was denying it and delaying it, waiting for a miracle to allow me to stay.” “I would open the fridge to make sure there was nothing there that would go bad,” he adds. “It was a strange circumstance.” For the film's actors and crew members, signing up for the movie meant also becoming co-conspirators. Everyone knew the risks. And, like Rasoulof, many of them have since left Iran. Rostami and Maleki also now live in Germany. Asked if his collaborators are all currently safe, Rasoulof responds: “No one is safe from the Islamic Republic.” In his new life, Rasoulof is experiencing freedoms he never had in Iran. His films, for example, are widely available outside his native country but not in Iran. His prize-winning 2020 drama “There Is No Evil,” about capital punishment in Iran, is banned — though, ironically, Rasoulof’s prison guards enjoyed watching it with him from a flash drive. “I haven’t seen many of my films on a big screen, especially my last film,” he says. “I really want to see ‘There Is No Evil’ on a big screen. A festival in Portugal has promised to take me to see my own film.” The name of Rasoulof’s film comes from his memory of an ancient fig tree he once visited on an island in the south of Iran. It’s a tree that, with apparent metaphorical meaning for the Iranian government, spreads its seeds onto other trees, killing them and growing in their place. Rasoulof pulls out his phone to share a photo of his apartment in Tehran. Outside a large window, you can see the walls of Evin running along a craggy hillside. Inside are many houseplants. “This is my home,” he says. “I have a lot of plants. I really miss my plants. I have a neighbor who takes care of them for me. I actually have a fig tree at home.” Copyright 2024 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed without permission. Yemen targets Israeli Ben Gurion AirportCOLUMBIA, Mo. — Next stop: the National Football League. Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III declared for the NFL draft on Monday, two days after playing in what was likely his final collegiate game. He's heading to the professional ranks early, where he's projected to be one of the first players taken in the upcoming draft. "As a kid from St. Louis, it has always been my dream to play in (the) NFL," Burden wrote in an announcement posted to social media. "I am blessed to have a family and community that have helped support this dream and fuel me to put in the work in pursuit of this goal." Burden has been Mizzou's most transformational player in recent years, a five-star prospect who picked his home state school, starred on a national stage and signed high-visibility name, image and likeness deals. “The legacy of Luther Burden,” Tigers coach Eli Drinkwitz said Saturday, “is going to be the monumental decision he made to come to the University of Missouri, when nobody else thought he should have. His trajectory changed the program’s." In high school, Burden starred for Cardinal Ritter and, for his senior year, East St. Louis, where he was the St. Louis Post-Dispatch co-offensive player of the year after a senior season that included 34 total touchdowns. Recruiting services made Burden one of the premier prospects in his class. When he committed to Mizzou in October 2021, Burden became just the third consensus five-star recruit to do so, following fellow wide receiver Dorial Green Beckham and defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson, who later slipped to four-star status after starting at the junior college level. "I just want to start a trend in St. Louis for the younger people," Burden said at his commitment ceremony. "Start a trend to stay home and take our talents to Missouri.” Burden contributed immediately, scoring nine total touchdowns — including one punt return — during his freshman season. Last year's overall breakout for Missouri saw Burden catch 86 passes for 1,212 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. That campaign placed Burden third in MU program history for receiving yards in a single season, trailing Danario Alexander's 2009 season and Jeremy Maclin's 2008 run. Despite entering the 2024 season as a front-runner for the Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation's top receiver, and in the conversation for the Heisman Trophy, Burden had a more subdued campaign with 61 catches, the most on the team, and 676 receiving yards. With 192 career receptions, Burden is fourth in program history. His one catch in the Tigers' Saturday win over Arkansas broke a tie in the record books with Alexander. Off the field, he made waves for Missouri in the NIL space. A line of Burden-branded potato chips steadily expanded in flavors and popularity over the course of his college career. He recently appeared in an ad for Nautica's fall clothing line alongside Louisiana State gymnast-turned-model Olivia "Livvy" Dunne. Burden, a junior, walked in Mizzou's Senior Day ceremony held before that snowy game Saturday against the Razorbacks. It seemed to be a clear sign that Burden would be answering the NFL's call sooner rather than later. "While this decision is a step toward my professional future, it is by no means the end of my relationship with Mizzou," Burden wrote. "I will always carry a piece of this university with me, and I will continue to represent Mizzou with pride as I pursue my dreams. MIZ. Just call 3." The league requires players to spend at least three seasons in college ranks, so this is the earliest Burden can enter the draft. The scouting and draft cycle will pick up steam as college and professional seasons end, but early projections show Burden going solidly in the first round — with a significant chance of being a top-10 pick. Burden's draft declaration will almost certainly lead to him opting out of Missouri's bowl game, of which the date, location and opponent will be announced on Dec. 8. The risk of injury in a game with little incentive will likely keep Burden off the field to protect his chances in the draft. Mizzou could see a couple of other players declare early for the draft during the next month. For some, it's a way to test the waters and the viability of their opportunities at the next level before ultimately withdrawing from the draft and returning to college, if nothing else ©2024 STLtoday.com . When Manmohan Singh Told His Agriculture Secretary: 'As PM, I Cannot Let Any Indian Go Without Food'

ENERGIA ALL-IRELAND LEAGUE MEN’S DIVISION 2A – ROUND 8: As the recent break ends, we are gearing up for an exciting two weeks of action in the lead up to the festive period. Division 2A coughs up some exciting fixtures this weekend, the headline event being Cashel hosting Instonians. A first meeting between Cashel and Instonians in the Energia All-Ireland League is sure to make for an exciting clash to kick off the weekend’s action at 2 pm. Just a single point separates the two in the table as the competition for the top spot in 2A reaches boiling point. Fresh off their thrilling Energia Bateman Cup semi-final win at Garryowen, Instonians will aim to keep this momentum going into the early stages of next year, but defeating Cashel on their home patch will be a test. Cashel did however lose their last home game to Navan in early November, but it will be hard to call a winner as these two heavyweights lock horns this weekend. After their bruising battle with Galway Corinthians last time out, they are ready for whatever Instonians throw at them. Leaders Corinthians did suffer defeat last time out to Cashel, and away to Banbridge this weekend, they will hope to return to winning ways and hold onto top spot by Saturday evening. Missing many of their regulars last time out, Corinthians put in an impressive performance falling just short in the end as Cashel managed to turn things around. Banbridge did look impressive also in their recent win away to Navan. Jack Hart impressed off the tee and with his try scoring, he could be a handful for Corinthians. MU Barnhall have lost considerable ground to those three teams in recent weeks, off the back of consecutive defeats they will hope this weekend is more of a positive experience away to Old Crescent. Takumi Park however has not been a happy hunting ground for the Kildare men in the past. Losing each of their last three away trips, their last win at the previously named Rosbrien came in 2019. With just four points separating the two and many more teams waiting to take that fourth spot, Barnhall certainly need a result here. Crescent have been able to grind out results so far this season and showed that again with the win over Ballymena last time out. Ronan McKenna was impressive as ever from the tee, and could swing the difference for his side this weekend. The closest threat to snatching the fourth spot from Barnhall are Greystones. The Wicklow men sit just two points behind going into this weekend’s action. Danny Kenny’s charges have had a better start to this season than what transpired when they came up as 2B champions last term. One more win on the board going into this December block of games than 12 months ago, they did not grab that fourth win until February last. A win this weekend could well see them snatch fourth spot, however away at Eaton Park is a tough task and they fell to a one point defeat back in March. The scars from that defeat certainly remain and with a recent winning streak of two games under their belts, the hopes will certainly be high to continue their recent good run of form. Ballymena are yet to pick up a win on home soil this season, and will be hoping that streak ends on Saturday. After getting their first win of the season over Buccaneers two rounds ago, they fell to a five point defeat in Limerick last time out. Hopes will be high of bouncing back and with Navan taking on Buccs this weekend, they cannot afford to drop points to a side hoping to leapfrog them at the foot of the table. Navan occupy ninth spot and with just three points separating them from Ballymena, a win away to Buccaneers is of high importance to keep them not only breathing down the necks of Ballymena, but maybe to take that eight place should they suffer a defeat. Buccs sit bottom of the table with their only point so far arriving from a try scoring bonus point away to Banbridge. Double digit defeats have been an occurrence since the opening round and with just one more to go until we hit the midway point in the season, they need a win. Navan were unable to build on the win over Cashel from Round 6 last time out, but certainly will be poised to deliver a strong showing in Dubarry Park this weekend. ENERGIA ALL-IRELAND LEAGUE MEN’S DIVISION 2B – ROUND 8: With seven games of the season done and dusted, Wanderers have been the pace setters thus far. Two games to go until we hit the midway point in the season, will they be able to further that gap will be the question. The Chaps have rarely put a foot wrong so far this season, and have a home tie with Sligo this weekend to sink their teeth into. Skerries awaits next weekend and that gap of five points can quickly shrink if they fail to get a result this weekend. Aiming for a third win in succession and an unbeaten home record so far this season, the Merrion Road faithful will have confidence on their backs this weekend. Sligo are a tricky opponent, while their form this season is mixed, losing their last three games including an Energia Bateman Cup semi-final, they cannot be underestimated. Their last two trips to Merrion Road ended in wins. Second placed Dungannon travel to face UL Bohemian, for the first time since their Division 2A promotion/relegation play-off in 2023. Bohs won that tie by four points and this meeting for the two is all about getting up to 2A. UL Bohs lost their place in those play-offs with defeat away to Malone last time out. Two points separates them from Clogher Valley and with how tight this division is currently, they cannot afford to drop further points in this race. Dungannon sealed a dramatic comeback win over Galwegians, to keep them very much in the race for the title in round 7. Now they have an equally tough task against Bohs. The pair will meet again a few short weeks later, but this opening installment promises to be exciting. A game of the weekend contender is the tie between fourth and third, with Clogher Valley hosting Skerries, the first time these two will meet in the Energia All-Ireland League. What looks to be a mouth watering matchup the Valley men will fancy to take the points. With an attack that has brought more scores and an impressive defensive effort also, Clogher Valley have delivered a strong showing thus far in their debut season in 2B. Looking for their third win in succession, The Cran faithful will look to keep the foot on the gas against Skerries. The Goats meanwhile have had a much better season this time around than last, however consecutive defeats in Round 5 and 6, derailed their early season momentum challenging for the title with an unbeaten record. Skerries are well able to fight for results and with top scorer Ronan Mulcahy pulling the strings, they will be tough to beat. A big Ulster Derby in Gibson Park will see Malone and Rainey fighting it out for important points to push either team into the promotion hunt. Score difference is all that separates the two as five points is the gap currently to fourth spot. Malone had a rocky start to the season when it came to home games but have won their last two. Form for them has been mixed since dropping down from 2A this season, however they have been a strong performer throughout the season. Rainey have managed to get a win on the road this season and have delivered some inspired performances, in comparison to last season. With aspirations to fight for top four this season, a result here will go a long way in that chase. The bottom two meet in Crowley Park this weekend, can Galwegians end their losing run and heartbreak on home soil or will Malahide jump off the bottom step of the ladder with a result, all remains to be seen. Wegians four times this season have lost games by a single point, conceding a decisive score late on. Last time out it was looking good for them in Dungannon, until they coughed up two tries after the hour mark. It would be a real monkey off the back for Galwegians to get their first win on the board. Malahide have won both of their last visits to Crowley Park and will fancy their chances of extending that record of wins this weekend. Results have not gone the Dubliners favour either this season, no win in their last four games has kept them very much at the bottom of the table. A big occasion for the two to take points this weekend. ENERGIA ALL-IRELAND LEAGUE MEN’S DIVISION 2C – ROUND 8: Division 2C of the Energia All-Ireland League has been incredibly competitive this season and any dropped points for those challenging at the top of the table could lead to some lost ground over the Christmas break. For Midleton they go into this weekend as the only team currently beaten after the opening seven games, and on home soil welcome Clonmel for a Munster Derby. The Towns Park faithful have enjoyed a great season of performances so far, and are looking to increase their lead at the summit from the chasing pack. With the best defensive record in the Division, they have been a tough nut to crack. Clonmel are staring down the barrel of a third straight defeat this weekend, unless they can turn the tide and pick up their first win in six years at Town’s Park. Second placed Belfast Harlequins make the trip to bottom placed Tullamore this weekend, hoping to keep the pressure firmly applied to Midleton at the summit. Quins had a dramatic win away to Monkstown last time out, to stretch their recent winning streak to two games and will be looking for another win on the road this weekend. Certainly the Ulster side have looked impressive with Ben Power’s recent form off the tee another tool in their arsenal. Tullamore have yet to pick up a win so far this season, their dramatic 25-25 draw with Enniscorthy the only time they have avoided defeat this season, a win here for them would be vital for confidence and to not leave them in a scrap to stay up approaching seasons end. Sitting four points off the lead and one point behind Harlequins in third, Dolphin are very much still in the fight and have to get a result against Enniscorthy on the road to keep them in the hunt. The pair met just a few short months ago back in April, contrasting seasons saw Scorthy looking to go up to 2B, while Dolphin were hoping to hang onto their place. Now the focus for both is to head straight to 2B. Tested throughout their tie with Ballyclare at home last time out, Dolphin had to dig deep to secure a narrow one point win. Karl Waterman and Darragh Buckley brought threat on the wing to score tries that day, while Jordan Soli’s boot has been impressive this term. Scorthy have the home advantage and will be looking to use that to their full advantage. Having lost their opening four games, the Wexford men have turned their season around of late, with three impressive bonus point wins putting just five points between them and the top four. A win here would be another big statement of intent. Earlier on this year Ballyclare and Monkstown delivered a barn stormer of a final to secure promotion to the All Ireland League. Joel McBride’s last gap try sealed the win for the Ulster side and now a few short months later, they meet Monkstown again for what promises to be another exciting tie between these two. The new boys against the old guard who ensured a long wait to play in the league, judging on their history and recent games, this can go right to the wire. The pair are both hoping to return to winning ways after defeats last time out, the aforementioned McBride has been in great form this season and could again prove the difference here. Having picked up their first win of the season last time out away to Tullamore, Bruff are back on home soil looking for their first home win against Omagh Academicals. Sitting just outside the drop zone, the Limerick men are hopeful of pushing on now and putting a gap in place between themselves and the two teams beneath them in the table. Winning their last three ties on home soil against Accies, they will fancy their chances this weekend. Accies have lost their last two games coming into this one, but have picked up just one win all season. That came in the first round narrowly against Clonmel, and should they drop points to another side fighting at the foot of the table it would prove a tough task to claw back the deficit. The Department Business and Economic Affairs will use a new $1.9 million travel and tourism grant under the expiring American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to market an expanded array of flights going to and from new markets to the the state’s two main airports. Without debate, the Executive Council agreed earlier this week agreed to earmark these tourism dollars to GYK Antler LLC of Manchester, the marketing firm that already had a $16 million contract to handle on a variety of marketing efforts for DBA. “The additional funding will be important in supporting the expanded airlift into New Hampshire, through Manchester-Boston Regional Airport and Pease International Airport,” said DBA Commissioner Taylor Caswell. “This year alone, there has been an addition of three major airlines — JetBlue. Breeze, and Sun Country — and the twelve new routes, including destinations such as Orlando, Fort Myers, Sarasota, Fort Lauderdale, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Charlotte, Charleston, and Greenville-Spartanburg.” The money will be used to create a “strategic marketing plan” to raise awareness about New Hampshire in all these newly served markets, Caswell said “Market research shows that nearly 30% of travelers from these regions take up to four trips per year, with half of them spending over $7,000 per trip. While advertising costs in these markets are high, a targeted and cost-efficient multimedia approach will be used to build brand awareness and encourage travel to New Hampshire.” The aim is for GYK to help ensure a “consistent and cohesive brand,” Caswell added. Repetition is the key to success in this endeavor, he explained. “Studies Indicate that people need to see a message an average of 15 times before they take action, making consistent, sustained exposure critical to the success of the campaign,” Caswell said. “With this in mind, the funding will be carefully allocated to build long-term awareness of New Hampshire’s attractions and drive sustained interest in the state.” The multimedia campaign will be followed up by continued promotion as part of BEA’s ongoing budget, he added. “This strategic approach will ensure that New Hampshire not only capitalizes on the immediate benefits of these new airline routes but also establishes a strong presence In these key travel markets for years to come,” he added. The company’s existing marketing work is split up into tourism, employment, workforce opportunity and specialty crop branding. In a related action, the council approved $38,375 to the Department of Agriculture, Markets and Food (DAMF) to study ways to create more of a brand identity for New Hampshire grown crops. “GYK will gather existing data and research on the local business and brand to develop the foundation for the brand identity including name, logo, concept and standards,” Caswell said. “At the completion of the contract, the DAMF will have a brand logo in multiple formats and a brand standards document for use by the State, farmers and producers, and other local partners exclusively for the promotion of NH specialty crops.” Agriculture Assistant Commissioner Joshua Marshall signed onto this request along with a separate item the council approved that creates a memorandum of understanding for this three-month crop branding analysis. klandrigan@unionleader.com

Precision Strategies Vice President Rich Luchette and the Daschle Group Senior Vice President Joe Hack react to Bill Maher’s aggressive message for Democrats. "Real Time" host Bill Maher said he was considering quitting his political talk show because he couldn't handle another Donald Trump presidency. "I'm s---ting my pants. I may quit," Maher told his guest, actress and activist Jane Fonda, on his " Club Random " podcast on Sunday. "Because I don't want to do another [Trump term]." Maher boasted how he had warned Trump was a "con man" before the rest of the left started calling the President-elect a " threat to democracy ." "I did all the Trump stuff before anybody," he continued. "I've done it...I'm bored with it." HARRIS BACKER JANE FONDA RECALLS DOORS ‘SLAMMED IN HER FACE’ AS SHE BATTLES ‘PATRIARCHY’ "Real Time" host Bill Maher said the Democratic Party needs to look in the mirror following its Election Day defeat this week. (Screenshot/HBO) Fonda asked Maher if he could pivot to something else and not cover Trump instead. "The show is the politics. There is no other thing!" Maher replied. "And he’s going to dominate the news like he always does." Maher and Fonda went on to clash several times in the podcast over their disagreements about the prominence and problems the far-left posed to the Democratic Party. Maher, who has characterized himself as an "old school" liberal, argued with the far-left Fonda about regulations in California , gender ideology in schools, racism in America and how to address climate change. ((Photo by Kevin Winter/Getty Images)) Fonda, who has been arrested for her climate activism , insisted that strong environmental regulations were needed because "we live in a soup of toxic chemicals" and "if we don't regulate it, we're all going to die of cancer." "That's true," Maher said, before arguing that many regulations were also not necessary. "You really don't believe the state we live in California is lacking regulations. There's over 300,000 regulations," he said. "Well, maybe they're needed," Fonda replied. NEWSOM PROPOSES $25M FROM STATE LEGISLATURE TO ‘TRUMP-PROOF’ CALIFORNIA Los Angeles, - September 25: Governor Gavin Newsom speaks at a press conference where he signs legislation related to oversight of oil and gas wells, and community protections on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024 in Los Angeles, . (Jason Armond / Los Angeles Times via Getty Images) (Jason Armond / Los Angeles Times via Getty Images) After sharing how he had to have three inspections in order to install a new garage door in his house, Maher complained California was over-regulated and over-taxed with "no checks on that sort of extreme leftism." Fonda disagreed, saying she didn't know California had this reputation. "I don't for a minute consider California a state that is extreme leftist. Not at all. Not any way," she said. The pair continued to spar after Maher called the NAACP "far left" for issuing a travel advisory to Florida for Black Americans last year, after Gov. Ron DeSantis banned funding for diversity, equity and inclusion programs at Florida's public universities. "There's stories like that, that just makes people roll their eyes and go, ‘Are you people nuts?’" he said before giving another example of progressives claiming men can "get pregnant." CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURE Actress and activist Jane Fonda denied knowing about the "crazy things" the far-left said and did after being confronted by HBO host Bill Maher. (Adobe Stock) "I understand that a trans woman can get pregnant. That's different than a man getting pregnant. And the way they sort of like insist on blurring that line is if that's some sort of reasonable social cause as opposed to just being for having full rights, respect and protection for trans people?" he said. "I've never heard about men getting pregnant," Fonda shot back, saying Maher's was blowing out of proportion the "miniscule" amount of influence the far left had on the culture. They also clashed over their ideas on how to address climate change, with Fonda warning that Americans needed to cut all our emissions in half immediately to avoid an impending climate crisis. She argued that solar and wind, not "digging, fracking and mining," were the real solutions to solving this crisis. But Maher was critical of Fonda's suggestions, saying that radical clean energy measures were unlikely to get passed by lawmakers and that doomsday predictions about the end of the earth being near had come and passed several times before. Watson has been limited to just 19 games in three seasons because of an NFL suspension and injuries with the Browns, who signed him to a five-year, $230 million fully guaranteed contract in 2022. The restructuring allows the team to spread out the salary-cap hit after the 2026 season. The 29-year-old Watson has two years remaining on his contract with an average of $46 million a year. The move to restructure his deal will not preclude the Browns from adding talent at the quarterback position in 2025, the person said. Watson played in only seven games this season before suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon. He’s 9-10 as a starter with Cleveland. The Browns (3-12) have been a major disappointment this season after making it to the playoffs a year ago behind Joe Flacco, who was signed as a free agent after Watson suffered a season-ending shoulder injury. Watson had surgery in October and is expected to make a full recovery. While the team hasn’t disclosed its plans at quarterback, it’s assumed Watson will be in the mix to be the starter next season. It’s also possible the Browns will draft a quarterback in the first round. The team hasn’t had a first-round pick the past three years after trading three to the Houston Texans to acquire Watson, who was once considered one of the league’s elite QBs.
