Michigan (7-5, 5-4 Big Ten) stunned No. 2 Ohio State (10-2, 7-2 Big Ten) in one of the biggest upsets of the college football season. Kicker Dominic Zvada hit the game-winning field with 45 seconds remaining. The Buckeyes were stopped on 4th down on the next drive, securing Michigan's upset victory. Michigan running back Kalel Mullings led the Wolverines with 116 rushing yards on 32 carries and one rushing touchdown. The Buckeyes were held to 77 rushing yards on 26 carries, highlighting the offensive struggles against the Wolverines. The Wolverines have won four consecutive games against the Buckeyes, their longest winning streak in the rivalry since 1988-91. Following the game, Michigan players rushed to midfield to plant a flag at the 50-yard line, which caused a massive brawl between the two teams. A fight has broken out between Michigan and Ohio State after The Game pic.twitter.com/XPwdAjfYzN The teams were separated by security, but the tension continued to rise, leading to a second altercation. Following the first brawl, Ohio State defensive end Jack Sawyer ripped the Michigan flag and started a second brawl near the 30-yard line. Multiple Ohio State players were seen getting physical with Michigan staffers as they tried to grab the flag. This had fans across college football concerned for the players' safety and well-being inside the stadium. Michigan running back Kalel Mullings called out the Buckeyes in his postgame interview after the brawl. "You hate to see stuff like that after the game," Mulling said. Related: Social Media Demands Accountability After Photo of Ohio State Fan Goes ViralAn energized SMU squad will carry a three-game winning streak against up-and-down Virginia in the Atlantic Coast Conference opener for each team on Saturday in Dallas. The game is the first for the Mustangs' basketball team as a member of one of the nation's perennial powerhouse leagues, but don't expect SMU (7-2) to wilt in the spotlight. The Mustangs lambasted Alabama State 101-72 on Tuesday in their most recent outing. Their two losses came against Butler on the road by 11 points and against Mississippi State at home by five. Kario Oquendo poured in a season-high 20 points to lead seven SMU scorers in double figures in the win over Alabama State. Matt Cross added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Mustangs while Samet Yigitoglu and Chuck Harris scored 12 points apiece. Yohan Traore and B.J. Edwards each had 11 and Jerrell Colbert hit for 10. "I think it's finally getting to the point where we are starting to figure out how to play as a team," Oquendo said. "You can see it from game to game. We're getting better, and every practice, we're getting better. I believe the more games we play together, the more the things start coming together." SMU is second in scoring per game in the ACC (averaging 87.4 points) and assists per game (16) and tied for fifth in field-goal shooting (47.3 percent) and fourth in 3-point shooting (36.8 percent). The Mustangs lead the ACC in rebound margin (plus-10.9), total rebound average (44.4 per game) and offensive rebounds (15.5 a game) -- all in all, an impressive start to their campaign. Boopie Miller is the SMU leader in scoring average (15.6 points per game) and assists (5.8), with Cross the top rebounder (7.5 per game). The Cavaliers (5-3) head to Dallas after an 87-69 loss at No. 13 Florida on Wednesday in the SEC/ACC Challenge. Elijah Saunders scored 19 points for Virginia while Isaac McKneely added 12 points -- all on 3-pointers. The Cavaliers, however, had no answer for the Florida defense, committing 15 turnovers that led to 20 points for the Gators. Virginia led 18-9 early but were down by four at halftime. They got to within a point after a deep basket by Saunders in the opening minute of the second half, but that was as close as the Cavaliers would come. "Overall, I was very, very pleased with the first half," Virginia interim coach Ron Sanchez said. "I think that we handled adversity well. This group is on its way of becoming who they're going to be. It's painful growth, but you grow nonetheless." McKneely leads the Cavaliers with 13.1 points per game, followed by Saunders at 10.3. Jacob Cofie is the top rebounder at 6.4 per game, while Andrew Rohde has a team-best average of three assists. The teams have met just once before, with the Cavaliers outlasting SMU 76-73 in the semifinals of the Corpus Christi Challenge on Nov. 29, 2013. --Field Level Media

Yolo County law enforcement officers conducted compliance checks and address verifications on more than 300 registered sex offenders last week, finding most in compliance with the terms of their release. Called “Operation Vigilance,” the program began 15 years ago with the goal of protecting Yolo County citizens by ensuring that county residents who must register as sex offenders are complying with all laws and applicable parole or probation directives. More than 60 law-enforcement personnel from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Yolo County Probation Department, Woodland Parole Unit, California Department of Justice, U.S. Courts Federal Probation, Yolo County District Attorney’s Office, Yolo County Sheriff’s Office, and the Davis, Woodland, Winters and West Sacramento police departments participated in the joint operation, with support from the Yolo County IT GIS Division. Law-enforcement personnel went to the residence on file of every registered sex offender with a physical address in Yolo County. Many of the individuals required to register had prior convictions for rape, child molestation or possession of child pornography. About five percent of the county’s registered sex offenders were found to be out of compliance with their registration requirements, which will result in additional investigation by law enforcement. Four offenders on parole were arrested for various violations. A unique aspect of Operation Vigilance is that during the home visits, forensic examiners search the registrants’ computers, smartphones and other digital storage devices for potential violations. Computer forensic investigators from the Yolo County DA’s High Technology Unit and examiners from other participating agencies worked together to conduct these specialized searches. Additionally, the CDCR provided eight K-9 officers with canines trained specifically to detect electronics to enhance these searches. During the operation, 92 electronic devices were searched, with another 16 electronic items were seized for further forensic examination. “Operation Vigilance is an example of Yolo County law enforcement’s commitment to collaboration,” Yolo County Sheriff Tom Lopez said. “I am proud of the dedicated group of professionals who carried out this mission in an effort to keep our communities safe.” Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig praised the efforts of Yolo County law enforcement agencies who continuously monitor these individuals. “We conducted a compliance check of 100 percent of the sex offenders that have a permanent address, and the good news is that 95 percent were in compliance,” Reisig said. “Operation Vigilance continues to serve as an additional deterrent to those who must register as sex offenders who may be prone to re-offend.”

Caterpillar Inc. stock underperforms Friday when compared to competitors despite daily gainsIn a messy back-and-forth Palmetto Bowl, South Carolina found a way to creep past the No. 12 Tigers. A late-game pick by Demetrius Knight Jr. sealed the win for South Carolina. South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers (16) runs with the ball while pursued by Clemson linebacker Wade Woodaz (17) in the first half of an NCAA college football game Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, in Clemson, S.C. The Gamecocks got the ball rolling early in the first quarter setting the tone for an intense game. Redshirt freshman quarterback LaNorris Sellers 38 yards on the second play of the game. However, four plays later, Sellers was sacked for a loss of five yards and fumbled the ball. Clemson sophomore defensive end TJ Parker recovered for South Carolina’s first turnover of the game. Clemson’s defense recorded three sacks in the first half compared to none by the Gamecocks. Despite this, sixth-year linebacker Demetrius Knight Jr. was an active part of South Carolina’s defense with nine total tackles. Bam Martin-Scott also put up a valiant effort on defense with seven total tackles including two tackles for loss. Senior running back Phil Mafah proved to be an offensive threat on his feet for the Tigers throughout. In the first half, Mafah led the Tigers rushing for 55 yards. Offensive blocking was an Achilles heel for the Gamecocks. The Clemson defense succeeded in applying pressure to Sellers forcing him to use his feet. Rahiem “Rocket” Sanders struggled to shine as a result of blocking issues. Sanders ran for just 22 yards on 9 attempts in the first half. Meanwhile, Oscar Adaway III was able to make a couple of plays of his own. The sixth-year running back recorded 41 yards in total. Likewise, junior wide receiver Jared Brown stepped up where others fell recording 41 total yards. Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik showed off his arm strength with multiple big throws. The Tigers got on the board first in the 2nd quarter on a 13-yard touchdown by Klubnik. Sellers responded with a quarterback keeper of his own 25 yards to the end zone to tie the game at seven. At the half, the score remained tied at seven a piece. [Get our free newsletter! Don’t rely on search engines and social media for your Gamecock info.] The second half got off to a rocky start for the Gamecocks. Jalon Kilgore went down early and needed to be assisted to the injury tent. In addition, Klubnik continued to be a problem for South Carolina’s defense in the second half. Klubnik found the end zone early in the 3rd to put Clemson back in the lead. In a make-or-break fourth quarter, the Gamecocks found a way. Sellers played a major part in South Carolina’s win as he was responsible for both of the Gamecocks touchdowns. But South Carolina had to battle back from a turnover on the next possession. Sanders fumbled on an 11-yard gain, and cornerback Avieon Terrell recovered for the Tigers at their 34-yard line. However, the Gamecock defense responded by recovering a Clemson fumble at their own 38. But momentum and making plays continued to be an issue for South Carolina on both sides of the ball. Following multiple penalties at the end of the third quarter South Carolina needed a positivity boost. Martin-Scott came up big with a sack for a loss of 9 yards. Clemson sophomore safety Khalil Barnes intercepted a Sellers pass just shy of the end zone. But late in the fourth, Alex Herrera came through with a 42-yard field goal to bring the Gamecocks down by only four. A failed onside kick attempt seemed to be the end for the Gamecocks, but Sellers had other plans. Sellers found the end zone with under two minutes left to play to give the Gamecocks the lead. As the final seconds winded down, Klubnik went for it on 2nd & 10 on the South Carolina 15-yard line but the ball was picked off by Knight Jr. The Gamecocks defeated the Tigers 17-14. The Gamecocks wait to hear their fate after clinching a bowl game. The final College Football Playoff rankings are revealed on Selection Sunday on Dec. 8 from 12-4 p.m. on ESPN. Netflix 'totally ready' for XMas NFL games, WWENetflix continues to express confidence that its streaming platform is prepared to handle the massive audiences expected for a pair of Christmas Day NFL games along with the start of its live coverage of the World Wrestling Entertainment's "Raw" next month. Concerns were raised after users experienced issues with buffering and low quality feeds during the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson boxing match last month. Netflix has exclusive rights to stream NFL games on Christmas Day between the Kansas City Chiefs at the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens at the Houston Texans. Beyonce is scheduled to perform during halftime of the Ravens-Texans game, which could create more server traffic Netflix must take into account. It's a major test after the company reported an average global live audience of 108 million viewers for Paul's victory over Tyson in Arlington, Texas. Downdetector.com , which tracks service outages, announced that there were 90,000 issues reported at one point. "It was a big number, but you don't know, and you can't learn these things until you do them, so you take a big swing," Netflix chief content officer Bela Bajaria told Front Office Sports. "Our teams and our engineers are amazing, moved super quickly, and stabilized it, and many of the members had it back up and running pretty quickly. But we learn from these things. "We've all obviously done a lot of stuff to learn and get ready for the NFL and Beyonce, and so we're totally ready and excited for WWE." WWE president Nick Khan told FOS that Raw's tone and content will not change as it moves to the streaming service, with its first event of 2025 scheduled for Jan. 6. "There's some online chatter about, ‘oh, it's going to be R-rated, or for us old folks, X-rated.' That's definitely not happening," Khan said. "It's family-friendly, multi-generational, advertiser-friendly programming. It's going to stay that way. I would look for more global flair, especially as the relationship continues to develop." --Field Level Media

ROME (AP) — Robert Lewandowski joined Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the only players in Champions League history with 100 or more goals. But Erling Haaland is on a faster pace than anyone by boosting his total to 46 goals at age 24 on Tuesday. Still, Haaland's brace wasn't enough for Manchester City in a 3-3 draw with Feyenoord that extended the Premier League champion's winless streak to six matches. Lewandowski’s early penalty kick started Barcelona off to a 3-0 win over previously unbeaten Brest to move into second place in the new single-league format. The Poland striker added goal No. 101 in second-half stoppage time. Ronaldo leads the all-time scoring list with 140 goals and Messi is next with 129. But neither Ronaldo nor Messi play in the Champions League anymore following moves to Saudi Arabia and the United States, respectively. “It’s a nice number,” Lewandowski said. “In the past I didn’t think I could score more than 100 goals in the Champions League. I’m in good company alongside Cristiano and Messi.” The 36-year-old Lewandowski required 125 matches to reach the century mark, two more than Messi (123) and 12 fewer than Ronaldo (137). Barcelona also got a second-half score from Dani Olmo. The top eight finishers in the standings advance directly to the round of 16 in March. Teams ranked ninth to 24th go into a knockout playoffs round in February, while the bottom 12 teams are eliminated. Haaland converted a first-half penalty to eclipse Messi as the youngest player to reach 45 goals then scored City's third after the break to raise his total to 46 goals in 44 games. Ilkay Gundogan had City's second. But then Feyenoord struck back with goals from Anis Hadj Moussa, Santiago Gimenez and David Hancko. Inter Milan beat Leipzig 1-0 with an own goal to move atop the standings with 13 points, one more than Barcelona and Liverpool, which faces Real Madrid on Wednesday. The Serie A champion is the only club that hasn't conceded a goal. Bayern Munich beat Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 — the same score from the 2020 final between the two teams. PSG ended with 10 men and remained in the elimination zone. The French powerhouse has struggled in Europe after Kylian Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid. Kim Min-jae’s first-half header was enough for Bayern, especially after Ousmane Dembelé was sent off in the 56th with his second yellow. Atalanta moved within two points of the lead with a 6-1 win at Young Boys. Charles De Ketelaere scored two and assisted on three other goals for Atalanta. Also, Arsenal kept red-hot striker Viktor Gyokeres quiet in a 5-1 win over Sporting Lisbon; and Germany star Florian Wirtz scored two goals and was involved in two more as Bayer Leverkusen boosted its chances of finishing in the top eight with a 5-0 rout of Salzburg. AC Milan followed up its win at Real Madrid with a 3-2 victory at last-place Slovan Bratislava in an early match. Christian Pulisic put the seven-time champion ahead midway through the first half by finishing off a counterattack. Then Rafael Leao restored the Rossoneri’s advantage after Tigran Barseghyan had equalized for Bratislava and Tammy Abraham quickly added another. Nino Marcelli scored with a long-range strike in the 88th for Bratislava, which ended with 10 men. Bratislava has lost all five of its matches. Argentina World Cup winner Julian Alvarez scored twice and Atletico Madrid routed Sparta Prague 6-0 in the other early game. Alvarez scored with a free kick 15 minutes in and Marcos Llorente added a long-range strike before the break. Alvarez finished off a counterattack early in the second half after being set up by substitute Antoine Griezmann, who then marked his 100th Champions League game by getting on the scoresheet himself. Angel Correa added a late brace for Atletico, which earned its biggest away win in Europe. Atletico beat Paris Saint-Germain in the previous round and extended its winning streak across all competitions to six matches. 2 slots By Usman Daudu In this past week, stampedes happened in three locations in the country and people lost their lives. In Ibadan, over 30 children died during an event by the former Queen of the Ooni of Ife to host 5, 000 children. And last Saturday, 10 persons died at a food-sharing event at a church in Abuja while 22 people also died in a rush for food in Okija, Anambra State. It is sad that these Nigerians died while on a mission to get succour from palliatives. It feels sadder that these incidents might have been averted had perhaps proper planning and execution been put in place. And that is why the latest news from the Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, is gladdening. According to reports, the governor opened bank accounts for two million poor residents of the state. Sani disclosed this last Thursday during the distribution of food items and palliatives for Christmas and New Year at the Umaru Yar’adua Conference Centre, Kaduna, which was spearheaded by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. “Through our financial inclusion programme, we have opened over two million bank accounts for poor, vulnerable, and underserved persons to enable them to benefit from state and Federal Government social intervention programmes,” the governor said. Ordinarily, this story should not even make the news given that it is perhaps the most logical route to follow given the technology available in the financial ecosystem. Sadly, it is a novelty. During the last administration of President Muhammadu Buhari as president, the federal government initiated the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) which had the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) as one of its programmes. Under the CCT, citizens classified as ‘the poorest of the poor’ were to get Ten Thousand Naira. With the existence of the Bank Verification Number (BVN) which mandates every account holder in Nigeria to be biometrically verified, one would have expected the federal government to utilise the banks for transacting payment. But no. Rather, government officials physically took large sums of cash to crowded venues to share to the beneficiaries. According to multiple reports, at those venues, beneficiaries were just asked to sign and handed over envelopes which sometimes contained less than Five Thousand Naira. Such fraud implied those concerned didn’t want a more efficient way to disburse the funds to the poor. For their selfish reasons. Hence, while the idea of the CCT was noble, its execution was very disappointing and left a sour taste in the mouth of even some supporters of the programme. I mean, in today’s age of electronic banking, who goes about physically distributing sums running into hundreds of millions? The mere logistical horror associated with such a venture should even be enough to deter those who go that route. Then, there is also the case of accountability. When the Buhari administration initiated Trader-Moni and Markket-Moni. Good schemes. But again, its implementation was flawed. Instead of deploying BVN to track recipients of the funds, the funds were channelled via cash, with some middlemen conniving and ripping the government as well as the beneficiaries. The other process of having the poor come to a venue and organisers carrying large sums of money to share, should, at best, remain in the 1970s. It cannot be argued that it is more efficient to disburse funds to poor people by sending them money via their bank accounts. For instance, at the push of a button, one can initiate credit transfer to multiple persons instantaneously. With this method too, transparency is achieved as the use of BVN details particulars of every recipient. With the strategy Sani has adopted in Kaduna, funds meant for the poor can be effectively monitored and verified. Anyway, while some commentators argue that the recent stampedes resulted because of poverty, perhaps the more important factor concerns the organisers’ obligations. What numbers were they expecting? What preparations were on ground to receive and accommodate the expected numbers? What was the anticipated flow of movement designed? Did they have enough space and manpower to cater for the expected numbers? Were there better ways of dispersing their charity other than gathering a crowd in a particular space? These are serious questions organisers are expected to satisfy themselves with before beginning to gather a crowd. Thankfully, after the sad incidents of last week, Nigerians have become wary of palliative-seeking crowds. Some states have even listed conditions for distribution of palliatives. Lagos State declared that organisers of palliative sharing events with more than 250 persons must get clearance with the state safety agencies. Also, on Sunday, the Edo State Police Command urged the state government and other organisations to collaborate with the police in the distribution of palliatives to avoid a stampede. “Following recent cases of stampedes leading to avoidable deaths in some parts of the country, the Edo State Police Command has proactively called on government officials, community leaders, religious bodies, and non-governmental organisations to collaborate with the state command for a comprehensive and organised way of going about the distribution of any palliatives,” said the command’s spokesman, Moses Yamu, in a statement. “The Commissioner of Police, Ozigi Umoru, therefore warns groups and organisers of similar events to ensure they involve the Police or other security agencies to avoid such occurrences in the state. The Command remains committed to always ensuring the safety of lives and property.” The poor would always be in our midst. And as conscientious individuals and government, we cannot shy away from charity. But this charity must be done in ways to eliminate disasters such as those that happened in those three places. The Kaduna example by which the state government has opened bank accounts for the poor is commendable. Through that, no fanfare would follow transmission of whatever tokens the government intends for the poor. It would be a silent alert that would bring the loud joy from those deserving of it. In fact, Christians are taught to be discrete when giving as the bible preaches in the book of Matthew: ‘But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.’ Other religions too do not encourage a show-off when it comes to charity. Since assuming office as governor, his administration has distributed palliatives, agricultural inputs, grants, and soft loans to farmers and small-scale enterprises. As a passionate activist, it is expected that Sani’s administration would further elevate the condition of the poor residents of Kaduna. By opening bank accounts for the poor, the Kaduna State government is set to bring efficiency to assisting the poor. It would also be good for other individuals, organisations and particularly governments to copy this Kaduna format of cash transfers to the poor. It’s the 21st century and with the basic technology which all the banks deploy daily, there is no charity too large that cannot be reduced to gifting credit ‘alerts.’ It would be shameful to continue toying with the lives of the poor just for a show of charity.Aston Villa 0-0 Juventus: Heartbreak for hosts as Morgan Rogers' late goal is ruled out by VAR as winless run continues Morgan Rogers' extra time strike was chalked off following a foul in the build up Aston Villa are still without a win since beating Bologna 2-0 back in October Liverpool correspondent LEWIS STEELE tells all on bombshell chat with Mo Salah - LISTEN NOW to It's All Kicking Off! And what a shame that is. There is no end of beauty to evoke when you think of the grand Old Lady of European football under the grand old lights of Villa Park, but she shuffled around with little purpose and those beams were the only source of brightness. The rest was forgettable, a dull shade of grey, with the exception of two fleeting moments. The second of those came three minutes into stoppage time and was of greater consequence, for Morgan Rogers thought he had bundled the winner, only for it be disallowed somewhat harshly for a challenge by Diego Carlos on the Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio as they tussled under a high ball. As with so many of the decisions made by the referee, Jesus Gil Manzano, it felt an overly officious ruling on a routine clash of shoulders, and yet to say either of these sides deserved more than a point would be a risky manoeuvre. The only other glimmer of excitement, of quality even, came half an hour prior to that flashpoint, when Francisco Conceicao headed at a half empty goal from four yards and Emiliano Martinez flew across his line and somehow kept the ball from fully crossing the line. Aston Villa were held to a 0-0 draw by Juventus after Morgan Rogers' late strike was chalked off The new England international thought he had struck the winner deep into time added on Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio was judged to have been fouled just before the goal At a push, he had two inches to spare before the goal-line technology would have buzzed, so it was a corker of a save. Before the match, the Argentine had paraded the trophy he was recently awarded for being the world’s best goalkeeper – delivering a stop like that on a freezing night of little activity was a fine way to validate the judges. In the bigger picture, the draw keeps Villa in decent health in the Champions League, but failed to arrest a run of winless matches that has now stretched to seven. With Chelsea next up on their domestic agenda, there is a pressing need for Unai Emery to break the inertia that has taken hold of his side. Their presence in these European nights will compensate for what ground they have lost in the Premier League, but they are curiously lacking in confidence compared to what we saw last season. Once upon a time, they would have played with more zip, more aggression, but here they seemed more afraid to lose, which made this a missed opportunity against a young Juventus side that is not quite the vision of its famous name. To understand where Juventus currently find themselves on the development curve, consider their team sheet – there were no recognised strikers in Thiago Motta’s starting XI, no one above the age of 27 and only six men on the bench, two of whom were goalkeepers. Injuries have hit hard and often in a season where they sit sixth in Serie A. Granted, it is still Juventus but not as we know them, and certainly not the vintage of 1983, when they were last at Villa Park with half a dozen members of Italy’s World Cup-winning side and Michel Platini. From the Villa perspective, Emery made three changes to the bunch that drew 2-2 against Crystal Palace on Saturday. Most notable among those coming in was Boubacar Kamara, who was deemed sufficiently fit for his first start in three weeks but has rarely looked as effective as he did alongside Douglas Luiz. The latter’s move to Juventus has seemingly benefitted no party beyond Villa’s bean counters, with Luiz injured and Kamara not kindling quite the same synergy with those filling the space. Here, that meant a stationing alongside Youri Tielemans, but, in the first half at the very least, they struggled get a grip on the centre of the pitch. As such, Juventus were able to dominate much of the possession, but with the exception of Francisco Conceicao they lacked the dynamism to capitalise. He was lively; they were blunt. Emiliano Martinez's stunning stop was the second of only two moments of quality in the tie Francisco Conceicao headed at a half-empty net from four yards out but Martinez managed to somehow keep it out Unai Emery needs to break the inertia that has taken hold of his side at this stage of the season Martinez appeared to mock his opposite number after the match ended in a 0-0 draw Though the draw puts Villa in good health in the Champions League they are without a win in seven games MATCH FACTS ASTON VILLA (4-4-2): Martinez 7; Cash 7, Carlos 7, Torres 7, Digne 6.5; Bailey 6.5 (Philogene 86), Kamara 6.5 (Barkley 78), Tielemans 6, McGinn 6; Rogers 6, Watkins 6 (Duran 78). Advertisement Of the chances that were created, Villa had the best of them. In one early move, Pau Torres glanced a Leon Bailey corner onto the roof of the net and in the final moments Lucas Digne dipped a free-kick onto the bar. Barring one other drive from Ollie Watkins that was saved by Michele Di Gregorio, there was almost nothing in between. For all the glory of the setting and occasion, this was shaping into a mediocre contest characterised by three Villa bookings, a fiddly referee, and not a single Juve opening of note. That will have partially satisfied Emery – he has highlighted lately the need to tighten up at the back and to those purposes, the first half was a success. The second started with a fraction of anxiety and, again, it was caused by Conceicao, one of three sons of famous fathers in this team. As it happens, his old man, Sergio, won the Cup Winners’ Cup at this ground with Lazio in 1999, and here the lad’s threat was shown with a quick step around Digne and a drive that clattered off the elbow of Torres. The appeal for a penalty went nowhere. Another of the sons, Khephren Thuram, was less impressive with a chance on the hour, when he had a decent sight at goal from the edge of the area and leathered his shot so far wide elements of the crowd began to laugh. It was that kind of night, or it was until Emiliano Martinez injected some quality. That came after 64 minutes, when Conceicao reacted fast to a bouncing ball off a set-piece at the far post and headed for the bottom corner. Martinez dived low to his right and clawed it off his line with a quite brilliant save, the importance of which was underlined by replays showing the ball was no more than an inch or two from fully crossing. It was a brilliant intervention from a man who had so little to do. At the other end, John McGinn had a flicked shot scrambled clear by Manuel Locatelli before Rogers brought a moment of excitement at the death that felt out of keeping with the game and was duly ruled out. Winter is synonymous with rich hot cocoa, luxuriously warm baths and soft, snuggly blankets. Despite my love for the season, the dry, dull skin that comes with it isn’t as enjoyable. And, I hate to say it, but slathering on moisturizer or facial oils sometimes just isn’t enough to see a big change. I love to turn to at-home spa treatments to really amp up the hydration and glow. One of my all-time favorite products is the Bliss Mighty Marshmallow Whipped Mask . It boasts a rich, luxe texture and mild scent that makes me want to apply it daily (but I don’t need to!). Two or three times a week is all it takes for the mask to do its magic. So, when I saw that it’s on sale for under $10 on Amazon for Black Friday week, I had to share the news. At this price, I’m scooping up several for stocking stuffers and as a gift to myself! Made with olive oil and marshmallow root extract, the soufflé texture and pretty frosting appearance are inviting. The included vitamin C gives my skin a brightening boost. After I wash it off, I apply moisturizer and my skin drinks it in, leaving me dewy and hydrated. I also love that it’s cruelty-free! My skin can be reactive, and this mask doesn’t cause any irritation. I’m not the only one singing the benefits of this Mighty Marshmallow mask. Among the 5,000+ happy shoppers, people can’t stop saying how “soft” it is or “how good it smells.” “Love the container, and that it’s recyclable,” one shopper writes . “I put my jar in the fridge to add some cold therapy to my face. My face has been so smooth, bright and beautiful. I’m very happy and will buy again when I need more. My face gets added moisture, and this brand is cruelty-free. Great price point, too.” Another skincare aficionado agrees , saying, “This product is not only gentle, hydrating and easily-applicable, but it also smells fantastic! The consistency allows you to easily put it on and take it off, and it isn’t over-drying while setting on your skin. Its texture can best be compared to fluffy whipped cream. I’m currently on Accutane, which dries out my skin, meaning I have to be exceptionally careful with products I use. This mask was was non-irritating. It left my skin feeling firmer, with a soft touch. It’s very gentle and doesn’t leave you feeling stripped of moisture. Bill Barber rink is open, but on thin iceLIVERPOOL, England (AP) — Kylian Mbappe hoped his move to Real Madrid would finally see him end his wait to win the Champions League. Instead, the France international and defending champion Madrid are in danger of being eliminated from European club soccer's elite tournament at the first stage after Wednesday's 2-0 loss to Liverpool leaves them in a fight just to make the playoffs for the next round. And if Madrid does make an early exit, Mbappe may look back on a miserable night at Anfield where he was humbled by a young defender and then missed a penalty that would have leveled the score. World Cup winner Mbappe looked a shadow of himself against a Liverpool team that leads the way in the Premier League and the Champions League this season. He was brought crashing down by a crunching tackle from 21-year-old right back Conor Bradley when threatening to burst through on goal in the first half — sparking a huge cheer from the home crowd. It got worse for Mbappe after the break when he had the chance to make it 1-1 from the penalty spot after Alexis Mac Allister had given six-time European champion Liverpool the lead. But with Caoimhin Kelleher to beat, he saw his effort pushed away by Liverpool's back-up goalkeeper. Mohamed Salah also missed a spot kick of his own, but substitute Cody Gakpo doubled the home team's advantage. Record 15-time European Cup winner Madrid is 24th in the new-look 36-team league phase of the Champions League. The top eight teams advance to the round of 16, while teams ranked ninth to 24th go into a playoff. Victory saw new Liverpool head coach Arne Slot manage something his predecessor Jurgen Klopp never could by beating Real in the Champions League. His team extended its perfect record in the competition and is top of the standings after five games. Each team plays eight games in the opening phase. Madrid plays Atalanta next month and Liverpool faces Girona. James Robson is at https://twitter.com/jamesalanrobson AP soccer: https://apnews.com/hub/soccerManchester United’s decision to put up the cost of all members’ match tickets to £66 for the remainder of the season has been labelled “offensive” by the club’s leading supporters’ group. Manchester United Supporters’ Trust (MUST) revealed the club had informed the fans forum that changes to certain ticket policies will take effect immediately “and that this price will apply for kids and over-65s as well as adults”. The news comes as the club confirmed the cost of paying off former manager Erik ten Hag and his staff was £10.4million, while a release clause to bring in new head coach Ruben Amorim and his staff amounted to £11m. The figures were part of a longer version of the club’s first-quarter accounts which were released to the New York Stock Exchange on Wednesday. United and Everton fans are set to stage a protest against ticket prices ahead of their Premier League clash on Sunday. Supporters are being asked to gather next to the trinity statue outside Old Trafford to support the Football Supporters’ Association’s ‘Stop Exploiting Loyalty’ campaign. As well as increasing prices generally, fans are unhappy about the removal of concession tickets for certain groups. An MUST statement read: “Suffice it to say that the idea that the fans must pay their ‘fair share’ for the club’s excesses and/or mismanagement — and above all, the Glazers’ lack of investment over two decades — is offensive. “We fans have done everything we have been asked. We have cheered the players on even in the face of substandard performance. “We have objected to this action in the strongest possible terms, both for the action itself and the complete lack of consultation, which is a step backward based on the process we had agreed with the club before INEOS’ arrival. “Over the coming days MUST will be seeking urgent discussions with the club to get them to listen to fans’ concern at this policy. “United fans have sucked up a lot. We will not be silent on this and we need to be prepared to resist any attempts to further drive up ticket prices.” Supporters’ group The 1958 said along with United and Everton, both Liverpool and Manchester City supporters will also display an FSA banner ahead of their match on Sunday. “With 19 out of 20 Premier League clubs increasing ticket prices this season, FC58, Everton, Liverpool and City supporters will display the FSA banner to raise awareness that any future season ticket price increases, removal of concessions, and treating match-going supporters as an easy target to make quick revenues will not be tolerated,” the fans’ group said. “With the discussions around the rebuild or redevelopment of Old Trafford, we need to send a message to the club that we are laser focused on keeping football affordable and looking after our loyal, match-going fan base. “Manchester United have announced that they will be selling tickets to members for the remainder of the season at a minimum of £66 irrespective of if you are under 16, youth, OAP or disabled, which is a clear exploitation of the loyal fan base and their first move towards dynamic pricing.”

By LARRY NEUMEISTER NEW YORK (AP) — The founder and former CEO of the failed cryptocurrency lending platform Celsius Network could face decades in prison after pleading guilty Tuesday to federal fraud charges, admitting that he misled customers about the business. Alexander Mashinsky , 58, of Manhattan, entered the plea in New York federal court to commodities and securities fraud. He admitted illegally manipulating the price of Celsius’s proprietary crypto token while secretly selling his own tokens at inflated prices to pocket about $48 million before Celsius collapsed into bankruptcy in 2022. In court, he admitted that in 2021 he publicly suggested there was regulatory consent for the company’s moves because he knew that customers “would find false comfort” with that. And he said that in 2019, he was selling the crypto tokens even though he told the public that he was not. He said he knew customers would draw false comfort from that too. “I accept full responsibility for my actions,” Mashinsky said of crimes that stretched from 2018 to 2022 as the company pitched itself to customers as a modern-day bank where they could safely deposit crypto assets and earn interest. U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a release that Mashinsky “orchestrated one of the biggest frauds in the crypto industry” as his company’s assets purportedly grew to about $25 billion at its peak, making it one of the largest crypto platforms in the world. He said Mashinsky used catchy slogans like “Unbank Yourself” to entice prospective customers with a pledge that their money would be as safe in crypto accounts as money would be in a bank. Meanwhile, prosecutors said, Mashinsky and co-conspirators used customer deposits to fund market purchases of the Celsius token to prop up its value. Machinsky made tens of millions of dollars selling his own CEL tokens at artificially high prices, leaving his customers “holding the bag when the company went bankrupt,” Williams said. An indictment alleged that Mashinsky promoted Celsius through media interviews, his social media accounts and Celsius’ website, along with a weekly “Ask Mashinsky Anything” session broadcast that was posted to Celsius’ website and a YouTube channel. Celsius employees from multiple departments who noticed false and misleading statements in the sessions warned Mashinsky, but they were ignored, the indictment said. A plea agreement Mashinsky made with prosecutors calls for him to be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison and to forfeit over $48 million, which is the amount of money he allegedly made by selling his company’s token. Sentencing was scheduled for April 8.

Toyota Joins Ford in Donating $1 Million to Trump's InaugurationBest Bets for NCAA Basketball Picks Against the Spread for Thursday, November 28Tweet Facebook Mail American Airlines briefly grounded flights around the US overnight because of a technical problem just as the Christmas travel season kicked into overdrive and winter weather threatened more potential problems for those planning to fly or drive. Government regulators cleared American flights to get airborne about an hour after the Federal Aviation Administration ordered a national ground stop for the airline. The order, which prevented planes from taking off, was issued at the airline's request after it experienced trouble with its flight operating system, or FOS. The airline blamed technology from one of its vendors. READ MORE: Man sat and watched as woman burned on subway, US court told A mass grounding of American Airlines flights had knock-on affects on travel in the US at the start of the Christmas travel season. (AP) As a result, flights were delayed across American's major hubs, with only 37 per cent of the airline's 3901 domestic and international flights leaving on time, according to Cirium, an aviation analytics company. Nineteen flights were cancelled. Dennis Tajer, a spokesperson for the Allied Pilots Association, a union representing American Airlines pilots, said the airline told pilots at 7am Tuesday ET (11pm Tuesday AEDT) that there was an outage affecting the FOS system. It handles different types of airline operations, including dispatch, flight planning, passenger boarding, as well as a plane's weight and balance data, he said. Some components of FOS have gone down in the past, but a systemwide outage is rare, Tajer said. Hours after the ground stop was lifted, Tajer said the union had not heard about any "chaos out there beyond just the normal heavy travel day." He said officials were watching for any cascading effects, such as staffing problems. READ MORE: Bill Clinton is out of the hospital after being treated for the flu The brief grounding was due to a technical error. (AP) On social media, however, customers expressed frustration with delays that caused them or their family members to miss connecting flights. One person asked if American planned to hold flights for passengers to make connections, while others complained about the lack of assistance they said they received from the airline or gate agents. Bobby Tighe, a real estate agent from Florida, said he will miss a family Christmas Eve party in New York because his American flight was repeatedly delayed. The delays made him miss a connecting flight, leaving him the choice of going to his destination — Westchester, New York — on Christmas Day or taking another flight to Newark, New Jersey, that was scheduled to land Tuesday evening. He chose the latter. "I'm just going to take an Uber or Lyft to the airport I was originally supposed to go to, pick up my rental car and kind of restart everything tomorrow," Tighe said. He said his girlfriend was "going through the same exact situation" on her way from Dallas to New York. READ MORE: Bill Clinton is out of the hospital after being treated for the flu Only 37 per cent of the airline's flights left on time. (AP) Cirium noted that the vast majority of flights were departing within two hours of their scheduled departure time. A similar percentage — 36 per cent — were arriving at their destinations as scheduled. Dallas-Fort Worth, New York's Kennedy Airport and Charlotte, North Carolina, saw the greatest number of delays, Cirium said. Washington, Chicago and Miami experienced considerably fewer delays. Meanwhile, the flight-tracking site FlightAware reported that 4058 flights entering or leaving the US, or serving domestic destinations, were delayed, with 76 flights cancelled. The site did not post any American Airlines flights on Tuesday morning, but it showed in the afternoon that 961 American flights were delayed. Amid the travel problems, significant rain and snow were expected in the Pacific Northwest at least into Christmas Day. Showers and thunderstorms were developing in the South. Freezing rain was reported in the Mid-Atlantic region near Baltimore and Washington, and snow fell in New York. It can be difficult to re-book a cancelled flight around the holidays. (AP) Because the holiday travel period lasts weeks, airports and airlines typically have smaller peak days than they do during the rush around Thanksgiving, but the grind of one hectic day followed by another takes a toll on flight crews. And any hiccups — a winter storm or a computer outage — can snowball into massive disruptions. That is how Southwest Airlines stranded two million travellers in December 2022, and Delta Air Lines suffered a smaller but significant meltdown after a worldwide technology outage in July caused by a faulty software update from cybersecurity company CrowdStrike. Many flights during the holidays are sold out, which makes cancellations even more disruptive than during slower periods. That is especially true for smaller budget airlines that have fewer flights and fewer options for rebooking passengers. Only the largest airlines, including American, Delta and United, have "interline agreements" that let them put stranded customers on another carrier's flights. This will be the first holiday season since a Transportation Department rule took effect that requires airlines to give customers automatic cash refunds for cancelled or significantly delayed flights. Most air travellers were already eligible for refunds, but they often had to request them. Millions of people are expected to pass through US airports in the next 10 days. (AP) Passengers still can ask to get rebooked, which is often a better option than a refund during peak travel periods. That's because finding a last-minute flight on another airline tends to be expensive. An American spokesperson said Tuesday was not a peak travel day for the airline — with about 2000 fewer flights than the busiest days — so the airline had somewhat of a buffer to manage the delays. The groundings happened as millions of travellers were expected to fly over the next 10 days. The Transportation Security Administration expects to screen 40 million passengers through January 2. Airlines expect to have their busiest days on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Many flights during the holidays are sold out, which makes cancellations more disruptive than during slower periods. Even with just a brief outage, the cancellations have a cascading effect that can take days to clear up. 'Do not travel': Every country Aussie authorities don't want you to go View Gallery About 90 per cent of Americans travelling far from home over the holidays will be in cars, according to AAA. "Airline travel is just really high right now, but most people do drive to their destinations, and that is true for every holiday," AAA spokesperson Aixa Diaz said. Gasoline prices are similar to last year. The nationwide average Thursday was US$3.04 a gallon (about $1.29 a litre - one gallon is about 3.78 litres), down from US$3.13 (about $1.32 a litre) a year ago, according to AAA. Charging an electric vehicle averages just under US35c (56c) per per kilowatt hour, but varies by state. Transportation data firm INRIX says travel times on the nation's highways could be up to 30 per cent longer than normal over the holidays, with Sunday expected to see the heaviest traffic. Boston, New York City, Seattle and Washington are the metropolitan areas primed for the greatest delays, according to the company. By MICHELLE L. PRICE NEW YORK (AP) — Chad Chronister, Donald Trump’s pick to run the Drug Enforcement Administration, said Tuesday he was withdrawing his name from consideration, becoming the second person selected by the president-elect to bow out quickly after being nominated for a position requiring Senate confirmation. Sheriff Chronister, the top law enforcement officer in Hillsborough County, Florida, said in a post on X that he was backing away from the opportunity, which he called “the honor of a lifetime.” “Over the past several days, as the gravity of this very important responsibility set in, I’ve concluded that I must respectfully withdraw from consideration,” Chronister wrote. He did not elaborate, and Trump’s transition team did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment. Chronister follows former Republican congressman Matt Gaetz , Trump’s first pick to serve as attorney general, in withdrawing his name for a post in the administration. Gaetz withdrew following scrutiny over a federal sex trafficking investigation that cast doubt on his ability to be confirmed as the nation’s chief federal law enforcement officer. Trump’s pick of Chronister for the DEA job drew backlash from conservatives, who raised concerns over his actions during the COVID-19 pandemic and his saying that his office “does not engage in federal immigration enforcement activities.” In March 2020, Chronister arrested the pastor of a megachurch who held services with hundreds of people and violated a safer-at-home order in place aimed at limiting the spread of the Covid virus. “Shame on this pastor, their legal staff and the leaders of this staff for forcing us to do our job. That’s not what we wanted to do during a declared state of emergency,” Chronister said at the time. “We are hopeful that this will be a wakeup call.” U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky, was among those airing public complaints, saying Chronister should be “disqualified” for the arrest. Others flagged comments Chronister made in a video about Florida’s immigration laws that he released in 2023 that circulated again online after Trump named him last weekend. We do not target individuals based on their immigration status. That’s the authority of federal agencies.” Trump has made a sweeping crackdown on immigration a central focus of his campaign and his aims for his coming administration. Some people might go on holidays to relax, tick off tourist sights or see the local wildlife. I like to do all of those things, I'll admit. But I also love to shop . From France, Italy and Greece to Japan , America and Canada, I love to fill my bags with curios, clothes and cosmetics and everything else. READ MORE: Camping essentials that won't break the budget for under $60 I started at a young age, despite family holidays being pretty frugal back then. While other kids likely wanted fridge magnets, I lusted after a polka dotted red flamenco dress in Spain. I tried it on but my parents wouldn't let me have it (unsurprisingly). I then recall moving on to easier targets, like the Spanish equivalent of the dollar shop. I lugged home vases and fragranced candles from Barcelona which I proudly displayed in my bedroom. Later, also in Spain, I discovered Zara, which back then was the height of fashion and wasn't yet available in England. Then, the first couple of times I went to New York City as a teenager, was jaw-dropping. Suddenly I could get all the things I'd read about in magazines and seen on TV shows like Sex and the City . READ MORE: World hidden under the busiest streets in Seoul Hard Candy nail polish, Carmex lip balm, Oreos and DKNY T-shirts filled my case. I'd also come home laden with CD's - remember those - which were much cheaper there. And as I started earning my own money, things escalated. READ MORE: NYC: Everything to know before visiting Now, the definition of a souvenir is "a thing that is kept as a reminder of a person, place, or event." And we've been collecting them for thousands of years apparently, as ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans used to cart rare artefacts home. Of course, social media has recently sent travel shopping stratospheric. What are being dubbed 'goods getaways' are 'trending', travel firm Expedia says. Because a lot of the time, it's all about showing off, isn't it? And where better to do that than online. "Here is this decadent chocolate from Dubai!' "My butter is better than yours because I got it in Paris! "See these cheeks, they look as shiny as glass due to this face cream from South Korea!" Indeed without TikTok I would have had no idea about the best things to snap up in Tokyo. Turns out it was strangely flavoured Kit Kats, hair and face stuff and heated eye masks, all from discount store Don Quijote. Garish, packed, cheap and found all across Japan, it's possibly the best shop I've ever been to. But I don't just follow the trends. Perhaps the most unusual thing I have bought on holiday was the $40 (empty) Fortnum and Mason hamper I found in a charity shop in London. It took some effort to cram that in the overhead locker. And the best goodies would be the second hand clothes I've unearthed everywhere from Phoenix to Kyoto. However, with the cost of living and exchange rates the way they are, recently I have recently scaled back my holiday shopping. Plus, you can now get most things online which has really killed the novelty of coming home with stuff nobody else has. I've also started to realise memories are much more valuable than things. Or maybe I'm just sick of trying to squeeze it all in my luggage.ACC Harps On Patriotism As Nigerians Celebrate Christmas

When the snow is falling and hot chocolate is piping, few activities are more refreshing and relaxing than plopping down on the couch and turning on the television. Some will watch live Christmas events from Rockefeller Center, while others will tune into a bowl game. But if you’re of a certain age, you clearly remember the excitement when Nickelodeon began to roll out its litany of timeless Christmas specials. From Kenan & Kel in the 1990s to Danny Phantom in the late 2000s, Nickelodeon has entered the pantheon of networks that have consistently rolled out classic holiday specials. While Nickelodeon’s legacy is cemented, the ranking of its best holiday season episodes is and will always be hotly contested. Not to start a debate at the holiday dinner table, but here are the 10 best classic Nickelodeon holiday specials. Show: Keenan & Kel Air Date: December 14, 1996 Kel ( Kel Mitchell ) loves orange soda and Kenan ( Kenan Thompson ) loves Christmas. He spends the entire year saving money to buy a new bike and takes an extra job as Santa at the mall to help get the last few dollars he needs. However, his plans are derailed when he comes across a brother and sister who dream of a great Christmas filled with presents that their mother can’t afford. In a selfless mood, Kenan uses the money he makes as Santa to surprise the kids and their mom with presents. Kenan’s upset that he didn’t get the bike he wanted, but he knows he did the right thing and Santa rewards him with a bike of his own. As with many Nickelodeon holiday specials, Kenan’s act of giving underscores the importance of family, friends, community, and giving throughout the holiday season. Show: Invader Zim Air Date: December 10, 2002 Name two more idiotically entertaining rivals than Zim ( Richard Steven Horvitz ) and Dib (Andy Berman). I’ll wait. While I wait, also figure out why Dib’s dad, Professor Membrane ( Rodger Bumpass ), named him Dib. Anyway, Zim and Dib’s rivalry takes center stage when Zim learns about the lure of Santa, kidnaps a man dressed up in a Santa suit and drains his brain. Normal holiday festivities, right? Once Zim drains the man’s brain and learns more about the lure of Santa, he devises a plan to build a Santa suit and convince all of humankind that he’s worthy of following and giving their undying devotion too. For the most part, it works and Zim is close to bringing all of human kind to the Tallest in order to extend his rule. However, Dib intervenes and garners the support of his sister, Gaz (Melissa Fahn), and his father, Professor Membrane, and stops Zim before he’s able to fully takeover. Overall, it’s a pretty weird storyline for a kid’s show during the holiday season, but Invader Zim is at its best when it’s weird. Show: Rocko’s Modern Life Air Date: December 1, 1994 Rocko ( Carlos Alazraqui ) is a better person than most because his grace throughout this Christmas special is unmatched. For nearly the entire episode, Rocko works to put together beautiful holiday decorations and host a lovely holiday party. Instead, his friends treat him poorly, other characters bully him, and no one except a magic elf shows up to his party. The elf works his magic and creates a memorable snowfall around Rocko’s house and Rocko’s house only. When the blizzard leaves a perfect amount of snow and holiday cheer around his house, Rocko’s friends show up at his front door to apologize and make the most of the holiday party. Rocko, being the kind soul he is, lets them in and thanks them for coming. Show: iCarly Air Date: December 13, 2008 Timmy Turner ( Tara Strong ) isn’t the only character in the Nickelodeon multiverse to have their dreams come true during the holiday season. When Carly’s brother, Spencer ( Jerry Trainor ), builds an electromagnet Christmas tree that sets fire to holiday gifts, Carly ( Miranda Cosgrove ) wishes that her brother was a bit more normal. However, things aren’t as great as Carly hoped they’d be. Spencer becomes a “normal” lawyer dating Ms. Benson (Mary Scheer) while Freddie ( Nathan Kress ) no longer has a crush on Carly, and Sam ( Jennette McCurdy ) is in a juvenile detention center. Most shockingly, Carly, Spencer, and Freddie were never friends in this alternate universe and never launched a webcast. The weirdness of the episode pays off in the end because Carly realizes what we’ve always known: her life is pretty great as is. Show: As Told by Ginger Air Date: December 10, 2001 As Told by Ginger is one of the most underrated series in the Nickelodeon catalog for various reasons, including its humor and ability to reach both young and older audiences. Case in point, the show’s “Even Steven” holiday special is immaculate. In the tertiary plot, Ginger (Melissa Disney) discovers that her grandfather is Jewish and immediately pivots from celebrating Christmas to celebrating Hanukkah. Her shift from Christmas to Hanukkah happens so quickly that it causes a rift between her and Dodie (Aspen Miller) because Ginger refuses to go to Dodie’s Christmas party and hosts her own instead. Splitting the room down the middle, half of Ginger’s party is devoted to celebrating Hanukkah, and the other half is adorned with Christmas decorations. Meanwhile, Hoodsie ( Tress MacNeille) is writing letters to Santa, asking him to give him rhythm for Christmas. Yes, you read that correctly. He genuinely asked Santa for rhythm, the ability to dance on beat. When Ginger’s brother, Carl (Jeannie Elias), finds Hoodsie begging Santa for rhythm, he not only makes fun of him, but also declares that Santa isn’t real. As a result, Carl spends the remainder of the episode attempting to prove that Santa is real. Through this effort, he learns that Carl is not a fan of the holiday season because he routinely asked Santa to bring his father home for Christmas as a kid, and his dad rarely stopped by on the holidays. With this information, Hoodsie runs up to a man dressed as Santa on the street and asks him to bring Hoodsie’s Dad home for Christmas. Little does Hoodsie know, the man dressed up as Santa is Carl’s dad. In the end, Carl’s dad visits him for Christmas, and while they’re talking in the driveway, a fire starts inside as Ginger is hosting her holiday party. Carl’s dad runs in, puts out the fire, and saves the day, making Ginger realize that the most important part of the holidays is being surrounded by family and friends. And no, Carl does not get rhythm. Show: The Fairly OddParents Air Date: December 12, 2001 Clichés may be annoying, but they’ve stood the test of time for a reason. However, when an elder said, “Be careful what you wish for,” Timmy Turner clearly wasn’t listening. Instead, he had to learn the hard way when he told Wanda (Susanne Blakeslee) and Cosmo ( Daran Norris ) that he’d like it to be Christmas every day. In his head, there’d never be school, and he’d get presents every time he woke up. Conversely, Wanda and Cosmo are magically depleted, his parents can’t work, and the other holidays become envious of Santa Claus. As a result, Timmy must make a trip up to the North Pole all alone. Tough luck for a kid who can literally wish for whatever he wants every other day of the year already. Show: Drake & Josh Air Date: December 5, 2008 Give a little girl named Mary Alice the best Christmas ever, or go back to jail. That’s essentially the plot of “Merry Christmas, Drake and Josh.” Drake ( Drake Bell ) desperately wants to host a party on the rooftop of Josh’s workplace, Premier Theater. To the surprise of just about everyone, Josh’s boss agrees to let Drake host the party as long as he volunteers to dress up as Santa for kids in the mall. Drake agrees, but things go haywire when a woman tries to kiss him, and he runs away. While hiding, he runs into a little girl named Mary Alice ( Bailee Madison ) and promises to give her the best Christmas ever. Drake finishes his shift as Santa and gets to host the party after all, but it’s cut short when a few uninvited guests show up, and Josh ( Josh Peck ) calls the police. However, there’s a mixup when the police arrive and Josh gets arrested. Being the good stepbrother he is, Drake tries to break Josh out of jail. Unfortunately, Drake gets arrested, too. When Drake and Josh get to speak to a judge, they explain that they need to get out to fulfill Drake’s promises to Mary Alice. The judge releases them, but warns that they will be brought back if they do not give Mary Alice the best Christmas ever. No pressure, right? Show: Rugrats Air Date: December 6, 1992 It may not seem like it, but there is not much of a difference between The Boondocks ‘ Huey Freeman ( Regina King ) and the children of Rugrats . Huey chases Santa around the mall with a BB gun, screaming, “You gon’ pay what you owe.” Meanwhile, Tommy ( Elizabeth Daily ), Chuckie (Christine Cavanaugh), and the crew are setting dangerous traps for Santa , so they can question him about his character. “The Santa Experience” kicks off at the mall where Angelica (Cheryl Chase) bum rushes the line to see Santa and tells Mr. Claus how much she needs a dream dollhouse for Cynthia. While Mr. Claus pushed her away, mall staff gave her a box of free toys to apologize for Santa rightfully pushing her away. Even with the free presents, Angelica is ungrateful and doesn’t want them. Meanwhile, Tommy and Chuckie are debating whether or not Santa is a good person. You know, typical baby stuff, right? Tommy is convinced Santa is a great guy, while Chuckie is, of course, scared of Saint Nick and thinks he’s a bad guy. In the kitchen, the parents are having a relatable conversation about their challenges and struggles, trying to ensure each of their children has a good holiday season. Later, the kids and parents head north to celebrate Christmas in a cabin. There, Chuckie and Tommy set up a booby trap to catch Santa. Much to their disappointment, the trap only manages to catch Stu ( Jack Riley ). Ultimately, everything turns out for the best as Santa just rings the front doorbell and delivers the presents face-to-face. Angelica gets her doll house, Chuckie determines Santa is a good person after all, and the Rugrats get the perfect Christmas. Show: SpongeBob SquarePants Air Date: December 6, 2000 If you ask most fans of SpongeBob SquarePants about Squidward (Rodger Bumpass), most would say he’s closer to being the Grinch than Santa Claus. However, “Christmas Who?” proves otherwise. Spongebob ( Tom Kenny ) visits Sandy ( Carolyn Lawrence ) and finds the proud Texan setting up Christmas decorations around her house. Instead of helping her, Spongebob freaks out because he thinks the lights and decorations have started a fire. It would be nearly impossible to start a fire that far underwater, but I digress. Anyway, Sandy stops him and explains to Spongebob who Santa Claus is and what happens on Christmas. Excited and enchanted, Spongebob shares the story of Christmas and Santa Claus with nearly everyone in Bikini Bottom. As a result, everyone but Squidward sends letters to Santa and spends all night caroling. When Santa doesn’t show up, everyone calls Spongebob a fraud and mocks him, including Squidward. However, Spongebob turns Squidward’s heart from coal to gold when he gives him a handcrafted clarinet for Christmas so that he won’t go without a gift. In return, Squidward dresses up as Santa and surprises Spongebob, who is delighted, and wishes him a merry Christmas. Squidward didn’t account for all of the other citizens of Bikini Bottom spotting him and asking for gifts. Instead of ruining the charade, Squidward ends up giving away nearly everything in his home away as a gift. Thankfully, Squidward is rewarded when the real Santa Claus sends a letter thanking Squidward for helping keep the spirit of Christmas alive. Show: Hey Arnold! Air Date: December 11, 1996 “Arnold’s Christmas” is not only the best Nickelodeon late-year holiday special, but it’s arguably one of the best episodes of the entire series. The series revolves around Arnold (Toran Caudell) attempting to pull off a Christmas miracle for his neighbor, Mr. Hyunh (Baoan Coleman). Through this endeavor, much of Mr. Hyunh’s backstory is revealed, including the heartbreaking story of how he and his daughter, Mai (Hiep Thi Le), have been separated for more than 20 years. While Arnold and his best friend, Gerald (Jamil Walker Smith), fall short in their quest to find Mai and reconnect her with Mr. Hyunh, Helga (Francesca Marie Smith) unexpectedly saves the day and gets Mai in touch with her father. Helga never gets the credit for creating this touching reunion, but she will always be remembered for being the driving force behind one of the most touching moments in Nickelodeon history. More Headlines:Cheese lovers are being alerted to a Christmas product recall triggered by fears that some may contain potentially deadly bacteria. A number of festive cheeses have been urgently pulled from supermarket shelves over fears they are riddled with bacteria that could cause meningitis and sepsis. According to the Food Standards Agency , cheeses by Wicklow Farmhouse, including Christmas favourites such as brie and cheddar, must be recalled due to a potential presence of Listeria monocytogenes. This is a type of bacteria that causes a disease called listeriosis, which causes flu-like symptoms, vomiting and diarrhoea in most people . Wicklow Farmhouse cheeses are currently being sold in independent stores as well as Aldi supermarkets in Ireland. In most severe cases of listeriosis, infections may spread to the bloodstream or brain, potentially bringing on meningitis or life-threatening sepsis. Those most at risk include the elderly, young children and anyone with a weakened immune systems, such as cancer patients. Pregnant women are also considered high risk, with almost one in five that get listeriosis suffering a miscarriage or stillbirth. Cheese brands in the recall include: Stores across Ireland stock these cheeses, which have seen the 150g portions and their use-by dates impacted. The recall specifically affected those in Northern Ireland, The Food Safety Agency said, with buyers urged to return them for a full refund with no receipt required. The food watchdog said: "Point of sale notices will be displayed in the retail stores in Northern Ireland that are selling the products." Just a day prior, several other Christmas dinner staples were pulled off the shelves due to concerns over customers' health. Products included cabbage, cooked meats and cheeses made by Dunnes in Ireland which were also feared to contain Listeria. The recall includes: According to the latest data in England and Wales from 2023, there were 177 cases of listeriosis up from 124 in the previous year. Of the cases reported last year, 32 were fatal.

Morgan Rogers looked to have given Unai Emery’s side another famous win when he slammed a loose ball home at the death, but referee Jesus Gil Manzano ruled Diego Carlos to have fouled Juve goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio and the goal was chalked off. It was a disappointment for Villa, who remain unbeaten at home in their debut Champions League campaign and are still in contention to qualify automatically for the last 16. A very controversial finish at Villa Park 😲 Morgan Rogers' late goal is ruled out for a foul on Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio and the match ends 0-0 ❌ 📺 @tntsports & @discoveryplusUK pic.twitter.com/MyYL5Vdy3r — Football on TNT Sports (@footballontnt) November 27, 2024 Emiliano Martinez had earlier displayed why he was named the best goalkeeper in the world as his wonder save kept his side level in the second half. The Argentina international paraded his two Yashin Trophies on the pitch before kick-off at Villa Park and then showed why he won back-to-back FIFA awards when he denied Francisco Conceicao. Before Rogers’ moment of drama in the fourth minute of added time, the closest Villa came to scoring was in the first half when Lucas Digne’s free-kick hit the crossbar. But a draw was a fair result which leaves Villa out of the top eight on goal difference and Juventus down in 19th. Before the game Emery called Juventus one of the “best teams in the world, historically and now”, but this was an Italian side down to the bare bones. Only 14 outfield players made the trip from Turin, with striker Dusan Vlahovic among those who stayed behind. The opening 30 minutes were forgettable before the game opened up. Ollie Watkins, still chasing his first Champions League goal, had Villa’s first presentable chance as he lashed an effort straight at Di Gregorio. Matty Cash then had a vicious effort from the resulting corner which was blocked by Federico Gatti and started a counter-attack which ended in Juventus striker Timothy Weah. Villa came closest to breaking the deadlock at the end of the first half when Digne’s 20-yard free-kick clipped the top of the crossbar and went over. Martinez then produced his brilliant save just after the hour. A corner made its way through to the far post where Conceicao was primed to head in at the far post, but Martinez sprawled himself across goal to scoop the ball away. How has he kept that one out?! 🤯 Emi Martinez with an INCREDIBLE save to keep it goalless at Villa Park ⛔️ 📺 @tntsports & @discoveryplusUK pic.twitter.com/OkcWHB7YIk — Football on TNT Sports (@footballontnt) November 27, 2024 Replays showed most of the ball went over the line, but the Argentinian got there with millimetres to spare. At the other end another fine goal-line block denied John McGinn as Manuel Locatelli got his foot in the way with Di Gregorio beaten. The game looked to be petering out until a last-gasp free-kick saw Rogers slam home, but whistle-happy official Gil Manzano halted the celebrations by ruling the goal out.Review of 3,000 studies blames microplastic pollution for cancer and infertility

Ellensburg trio earns recognition for state volleyball tournament performanceCRANFORD, N.J. , Dec. 27, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Citius Oncology, Inc. ("Citius Oncology" or the "Company") (Nasdaq: CTOR), a specialty biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of novel targeted oncology therapies, today reported business and financial results for the fiscal full year ended September 30, 2024 . Fiscal Full Year 2024 Business Highlights and Subsequent Developments Financial Highlights "Reflecting on 2024, Citius Oncology has achieved pivotal milestones that underscore our commitment to advancing cancer therapeutics," stated Leonard Mazur , Chairman and CEO of Citius Oncology. "The FDA's approval of LYMPHIR for the treatment of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma marks a significant advancement in providing new options for patients battling this challenging disease. It is the only targeted systemic therapy approved for CTCL patients since 2018 and the only therapy with a mechanism of action that targets the IL-2 receptor. Additionally, the successful merger forming Citius Oncology, now trading on Nasdaq under the ticker CTOR, strengthens our position in the oncology sector. We expect it to facilitate greater access to capital to fund LYMPHIR's launch and the Company's future growth. With a Phase I investigator-initiated clinical trial combining LYMPHIR with pembrolizumab demonstrating promising preliminary results, indicating potential for enhanced treatment efficacy in recurrent solid tumors, and preliminary results expected from a second investigator trial with CAR-T therapies in 2025, we remain excited about the potential of LYMPHIR as a combination immunotherapy." "These accomplishments reflect the dedication of our team and the trust of our investors. As we look ahead, we remain steadfast in our mission to develop innovative therapies that improve the lives of cancer patients worldwide," added Mazur. FULL YEAR 2024 FINANCIAL RESULTS: Research and Development (R&D) Expenses R&D expenses were $4.9 million for the full year ended September 30, 2024 , compared to $4.2 million for the full year ended September 30, 2023 . The increase reflects development activities completed for the resubmission of the Biologics License Application of LYMPHIR in January 2024 , which were associated with the complete response letter remediation. General and Administrative (G&A) Expenses G&A expenses were $8.1 million for the full year ended September 30, 2024 , compared to $5.9 million for the full year ended September 30, 2023 . The increase was primarily due to costs associated with pre-commercial and commercial launch activities of LYMPHIR including market research, marketing, distribution and drug product reimbursement from health plans and payers. Stock-based Compensation Expense For the full year ended September 30, 2024 , stock-based compensation expense was $7.5 million as compared to $2.0 million for the prior year. Net loss Net loss was $21.1 million , or ($0.31) per share for the year ended September 30, 2024 , compared to a net loss of $12.7 million , or ($0.19) per share for the year ended September 30, 2023 . The $8.5 million increase in net loss was primarily due to the increase in our operating expenses. About Citius Oncology, Inc. NoneSocial media users are misrepresenting a report released Thursday by the Justice Department inspector general's office, falsely claiming that it's proof the FBI orchestrated the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021. The watchdog report examined a number of areas, including whether major intelligence failures preceded the riot and whether the FBI in some way provoked the violence. Claims spreading online focus on the report's finding that 26 FBI informants were in Washington for election-related protests on Jan. 6, including three who had been tasked with traveling to the city to report on others who were potentially planning to attend the events. Although 17 of those informants either entered the Capitol or a restricted area around the building during the riot, none of the 26 total informants were authorized to do so by the bureau, according to the report. Nor were they authorized to otherwise break the law or encourage others to do so. Here's a closer look at the facts. CLAIM: A December 2024 report released by the Department of Justice's Office of the Inspector General is proof that the Jan. 6 Capitol riot was a setup by the FBI. THE FACTS: That's false. The report found that no undercover FBI employees were at the riot on Jan. 6 and that none of the bureau's informants were authorized to participate. Informants, also known as confidential human sources, work with the FBI to provide information, but are not on the bureau’s payroll. Undercover agents are employed by the FBI. According to the report, 26 informants were in Washington on Jan. 6 in connection with the day's events. FBI field offices only informed the Washington Field Office or FBI headquarters of five informants that were to be in the field on Jan. 6. Of the total 26 informants, four entered the Capitol during the riot and an additional 13 entered a restricted area around the Capitol. But none were authorized to do so by the FBI, nor were they given permission to break other laws or encourage others to do the same. The remaining nine informants did not engage in any illegal activities. None of the 17 informants who entered the Capitol or surrounding restricted area have been prosecuted, the report says. A footnote states that after reviewing a draft of the report, the U.S. attorney's office in Washington said that it “generally has not charged those individuals whose only crime on January 6, 2021 was to enter restricted grounds surrounding the Capitol, which has resulted in the Office declining to charge hundreds of individuals; and we have treated the CHSs consistent with this approach.” The assistant special agent in charge of the Washington Field Office's counterterrorism division told the inspector general's office that he “denied a request from an FBI office to have an undercover employee engage in investigative activity on January 6.” He, along with then-Washington Field Office Assistant Director in Charge Steven D'Antuono, said that FBI policy prohibits undercover employees at First Amendment-protected events without investigative authority. Many social media users drew false conclusions from the report's findings. “JANUARY 6th WAS A SETUP!" reads one X post that had received more than 11,400 likes and shares as of Friday. “New inspector general report shows that 26 FBI/DOJ confidential sources were in the crowd on January 6th, and some of them went into the Capitol and restricted areas. Is it a coincidence that Wray put in his resignation notice yesterday? TREASON!” The mention of Wray's resignation refers to FBI Director Christopher Wray's announcement Wednesday that he plans to resign at the end of President Joe Biden's term in January. Other users highlighted the fact that there were 26 FBI informants in Washington on Jan. 6, but omitted key information about the findings of the report. These claims echo a fringe conspiracy theory advanced by some Republicans in Congress that the FBI played a role in instigating the events of Jan. 6, 2021, when rioters determined to overturn Republican Donald Trump's 2020 election loss to Democrat Joe Biden stormed the Capitol in a violent clash with police. The report knocks that theory down. Wray called such theories “ludicrous” at a congressional hearing last year. Asked for comment on the false claims spreading online, Stephanie Logan, a spokesperson for the inspector general’s office, pointed The Associated Press to a press release about the report. In addition to its findings about the the FBI's involvement on Jan. 6, the report said that the FBI, in an action its now-deputy director described as a “basic step that was missed,” failed to canvass informants across all 56 of its field offices for any relevant intelligence ahead of time. That was a step, the report concluded, “that could have helped the FBI and its law enforcement partners with their preparations in advance of January 6.” However, it did credit the bureau for preparing for the possibility of violence and for trying to identify known “domestic terrorism subjects” who planned to come to Washington that day. The FBI said in a letter responding to the report that it accepts the inspection general’s recommendation “regarding potential process improvements for future events.” — Find AP Fact Checks here: https://apnews.com/APFactCheck . What is DRG anyway? How Putrajaya plans to deal with rising medical costs with a new pricing system

The creative economy in the Sultanate is bursting with potential. From podcasts and theatre festivals to comedy shows, a growing wave of talented Bruneians is stepping into the spotlight, sharing their stories and showcasing their craft like never before. The post-COVID surge in social media has unlocked new platforms for expression, attracting a diverse range of creators. Many of these individuals weave the Sultanate’s unique tales and heritage into their work, resonating with audiences both locally and globally. As the creative scene continues to thrive, the need for clear standards becomes increasingly evident. Establishing these benchmarks is crucial to building a unified creative economy while preserving Brunei’s cultural identity and adapting it to today’s globalised world. Part of this effort, according to CEO and co-founder of Kitani Kreatif Nuur Aqilah Ali – a creative laboratory and think tank dedicated to advancing the Sultanate’s creative economy – lies in recognising the broader value of cultural assets beyond their economic contributions. “To focus solely on the economic value of the cultural and creative industries (CCI) is to devalue their true impact,” she explained, noting that the growth of local CCIs can align with Brunei Vision 2035, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and Maqasid Syariah. In this context, Aqilah urged local producers to acknowledge the social, cultural, spiritual, and environmental contributions of Brunei’s CCIs. CEO and co-founder of Kitani Kreatif Nuur Aqilah Ali explaining the seven crafts under the jurisdiction of the Brunei Art and Heritage Training Centre. PHOTO: KITANI KREATIF The attendees during the event. PHOTO: KITANI KREATIF She made these remarks during Kitani Berkongsi, a creative economy insight series aimed at fostering dialogue among cultural and creative practitioners, exchanging ideas, and building collaborations. The event, held earlier this month, also featured the organisation’s presentation ‘Where Are Brunei’s Cultural and Creative Industries Going?’ – an analysis of Brunei’s CCI, charting the sector’s development so far and exploring its future possibilities. Reflecting on her own experiences, Aqilah noted how her journey towards growing the country’s CCI stemmed from the distance she initially felt from her own culture. “I grew up feeling like I wasn’t ‘Bruneian enough’. I spoke English and was immersed in global media,” she recalled. “I’ve worked on global pieces, but what truly shifted my perspective were eye-opening experiences in localised creative industries.” She mentioned of a local play adapted from Dusun lore – this is an example of ‘cultural regeneration’, breathing new life into heritage while adapting it for modern audiences. “Creativity thrives in such environments, forcing you to think differently and innovate.” With 14 years of experience in the creative industry, spanning both formal and informal roles, Aqilah acknowledged that while Brunei’s CCIs remain underdeveloped, they have evolved over the years as perceptions begin to shift. “One shift I’ve noticed is that creatives are gravitating toward functional creativity, like advertising and architecture, because these fields have clearly defined purposes,” she observed. These forms of CCI, she added are more accepted compared to the creative arts, which are still often overlooked due to the lack of stability in the field, especially in Brunei. “In developed markets, you can charge GBP70 for a theatre show, or GBP15 for a comedy show, for example. But here, the prices are largely the same – BND15 to 50. “It’s incredibly difficult to make money from creativity, and that’s a challenge.” With the creative industry in Brunei still in its early stages, the think tank aims to bring global best practices to the Sultanate while uncovering a global value within local heritage. The focus is on creating works and products that reflect Bruneian heritage, ensuring its cultural significance is showcased on the world stage. “With globalisation on the rise, it’s essential to strike a balance between embracing modern influences and preserving our cultural assets,” Aqilah explained. “Through these efforts, we hope to connect with Bruneians and demonstrate to the world that Brunei’s heritage is truly one of a kind.” Fortunately, Aqilah continued, creatives and consumers in Brunei have a strong interest in cultural and heritage pieces, with the organisation being approached with several projects, most of which are tied to culture and heritage. However, a common challenge is that many do not know where to learn about these aspects or how to respectfully incorporate them into their work. “Our role is to bridge that gap – not just by providing information, but by fostering a sense of shared responsibility,” she said. She then emphasised the distinction between culture with a small ‘c’ and Culture with a capital ‘C’, highlighting how both shape creativity in Brunei, its commercialisation, and the potential future definitions and classifications of CCIs. “These aren’t just my or your stories; they’re our stories, ones we should collectively care for. The real question is: how do we ensure respect for our heritage in creative work? And how do we make information accessible in the first place?” Aqilah remained optimistic about the future of the creative industries in Brunei Darussalam, though she noted that the current market conditions require creatives to focus on the more functional aspects of their talents, securing opportunities both locally and abroad. “The concept of creative industries, and by extension, the creative economy, is gaining significant traction in the region due to regional efforts,” she explained. “In Brunei, however, progress has often been fragmented and inconsistent. What I hope for is a more unified and consistent approach across all levels, one that helps people learn to truly value this sector.” – Wardi WasilSaturday, December 14, 2024 Houston Airports is excited to announce the opening of its new International Arrivals Curb , set to debut at 5 a.m. on Saturday, December 14 , at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) . This newly designed pick-up area marks a major step forward in improving traffic flow and elevating the passenger experience, addressing previous challenges that have caused congestion and negative attention. For nearly two years, passengers and visitors have faced crowded and chaotic conditions at the temporary pick-up zone near Terminal E on South Terminal Road. This makeshift curb was necessary to allow for ongoing construction of the $1.458 billion International Terminal project, a crucial upgrade to the airport’s infrastructure. The new International Arrivals Curb is designed with efficiency and safety in mind, featuring eight dedicated pick-up lanes . The expanded capacity and modern design will streamline traffic and provide a smoother experience for those arriving at IAH. Six of the eight lanes will be available in time for the busy December holiday travel season , with the remaining two lanes scheduled to open in January 2025 . In addition, the closure of the temporary Terminal E pick-up zone will restore the airport’s exit to its original four-lane configuration , effectively eliminating the traffic bottleneck that has plagued the area since January 2022. This long-awaited improvement is expected to significantly reduce congestion, ensuring a smoother transition for travelers arriving and departing from George Bush Intercontinental Airport. As Houston Airports continues to grow and evolve, this development represents a critical investment in the region’s transportation infrastructure, enhancing both the airport’s functionality and its service to the community. “The bane of our existence—the temporary Terminal E arrivals curb—will finally close on December 14,” said Jim Szczesniak, director of aviation for Houston Airports. “With the opening of the new International Arrivals Curb, we’ve listened to feedback, addressed frustrations and delivered a safer, more streamlined solution. This marks a new chapter in how we serve our passengers, fulfilling our commitment to providing a world-class experience while laying the groundwork for the future of international travel in Houston.” Navigating the New IAH International Arrivals Curb Drivers arriving at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) can easily access the new International Arrivals Curb by following clear signage along North Terminal Road . Directional signs will guide vehicles toward Terminals C/DE , where drivers will be directed left onto a dedicated lane, separated from other traffic by a barrier. This lane will lead vehicles directly to the new pick-up area for Terminal E International Arrivals . Once on the curb, Houston Airports Landside Agents and law enforcement personnel will assist drivers, directing them to the appropriate pick-up zones based on their vehicle type—whether for private vehicles , taxis , or ride-share services . For passengers clearing U.S. Customs and Border Protection , the process is simple. After exiting the customs area, travelers will proceed to the International Arrivals ‘Meet and Greet’ zone, where they will follow a newly established hallway leading directly to the International Arrivals Curb . Airport personnel will be on hand to guide passengers to their designated pick-up points. Once at the curb, passengers can order their ride-share through their app, hail a taxi at the designated stand, or notify their friends or family to pick them up. This streamlined system ensures a smoother and more efficient process for all arriving passengers. Houston Airports Celebrates New Curb with Special “International” Guest In a unique celebration of its new International Arrivals Curb , Houston Airports , in collaboration with Intuitive Machines , welcomed a very special guest on Thursday, December 12: the Moon RACER . This lunar rover, developed at the Houston Spaceport , took a test drive on the new curb in a fun and symbolic demonstration. The Moon RACER is a finalist for a NASA contract under the Artemis program , which aims to return astronauts to the moon by 2028 . This exciting milestone highlights both Houston’s contributions to space exploration and the city’s ongoing commitment to innovation and infrastructure development. The test drive marked a celebratory moment for the airport and its partners as they continue to enhance the passenger experience while showcasing Houston’s leadership in space technology. “Houston’s identity as Space City is built on a foundation of innovation, connectivity and bold ambitions,” said Jack Fischer, VP of Intuitive Machines and retired NASA astronaut. “As Intuitive Machines competes in humankind’s next space race, having seamless global connections is critical for our team and the growing network of aerospace companies in Houston. This terminal is more than an infrastructure project; it’s a gateway to the future of exploration, innovation and discovery.” Why the Moon RACER? When George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) first opened its doors in June 1969 , it offered only a few international destinations, coinciding with the historic moment when man was about to land on the moon. Now, 55 years later , the airport is preparing to unveil its new international terminal, set to offer nonstop flights to 195 destinations across five continents . The Moon RACER symbolizes this full-circle moment. Developed by Intuitive Machines , it represents the next frontier in space exploration—just as IAH is expanding its global reach. While Bush Airport connects travelers to the world, Intuitive Machines is developing the technology to send humans back to the moon, paving the way for lunar exploration and the future of space travel. The collaboration between space and aviation underscores Houston’s pivotal role in both industries.WallitIQ (WLTQ) has become a sensation in the crypto market, breaking records by raising over $1 million in an incredibly short time, with more investments coming in. Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham and his younger brother Jobe have amused football fans by “signing” a playful 10-year contract with Championship side Burnley during the Christmas break. The 21-year-old Bellingham, who returned to England during La Liga’s winter break, was spotted alongside Jobe at Crow Wood Hotel & Spa in Burnley by a Clarets fan named Alfie. The young supporter seized the moment to craft a “contract” that read, “We Jobe and Jude agree to sign for Burnley for 10 years,” which the brothers humorously signed. The light-hearted moment was shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by Jude and Jobe’s father. The post garnered widespread attention, even drawing a response from Burnley Chairman, Alan Pace, who joked, “Welcome to the recruitment team Alfie.” ALSO READ: Man Utd receive Marcus Rashford ‘approach’ from Euro giants with £35m fee ‘put forward’ While the gesture delighted Burnley fans, a move to the Championship side is far from reality for either of the Bellingham brothers. Jude, who joined Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund last summer, has four-and-a-half years remaining on his current contract. The England international had a stellar debut season with the Spanish giants, helping them win La Liga and the Champions League and earning a third-place finish in the 2024 Ballon d’Or rankings. Jobe, currently playing for Sunderland, has three-and-a-half years left on his contract. The 18-year-old has been in impressive form this season, scoring four goals and registering three assists in 20 Championship appearances. Jude was also spotted in the crowd at Ewood Park during Sunderland’s 2-2 draw against Blackburn Rovers on Boxing Day, but he is set to return to Spain for Real Madrid’s first match of 2025 against Valencia on January 3.The sports world received heartbreaking news on Friday regarding one of the industry's biggest media stars. Gross domestic product contracted by 0.1% month-on-month in October, as it did in September, the Office for National Statistics said. It was the first consecutive drop in monthly GDP – which is volatile and prone to revision – since March and April 2020, when Britain enforced its first coronavirus lockdown. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast a monthly expansion of 0.1%. The ONS said there was “mixed” anecdotal evidence from companies that turnover had been affected by companies waiting for the budget statement, which imposed large tax rises on businesses. Others brought forward activity. The services sector flatlined, while output in the manufacturing and construction industries declined in October’s data, which measured the economy in the weeks before Reeves’ budget statement on Oct. 30. Reeves and Prime Minister Keir Starmer – who made stronger economic growth the centrepiece of the Labour Party’s election campaign this year – had warned that the budget would include painful tax increases. Friday’s data adds to a run of worse-than-expected figures for Britain’s economy, with business surveys and retail sales readings also falling flat. “While the figures this month are disappointing, we have put in place policies to deliver long-term economic growth,” Reeves said in a statement. The opposition Conservatives said the growth outlook was under serious pressure because of Labour’s first moves in power. “It is no wonder businesses are sounding the alarm,” the Conservatives’ spokesman on the economy, Mel Stride, said. “This fall in growth shows the stark impact of the Chancellor’s decisions and continually talking down the economy.” The National Institute of Economic and Social Research, a leading think tank, said it expected the economy would stagnate in the fourth quarter of 2024. Most forecasters think the budget’s boost to public investment and spending will yield faster economic growth in 2025, although business groups say employers will struggle with higher social security contributions. Confidence among consumers rose modestly in December, in a survey published on Friday, offering Reeves a crumb of comfort after a torrent of glum business surveys. Sterling fell by more than a third of a cent against the U.S. dollar after the GDP data before recovering partially. Investors continued to price in around three quarter-point cuts in Bank of England interest rates by the end of next year. Paul Dales, chief UK economist at consultancy Capital Economics, said the BoE was unlikely to be sufficiently worried about the GDP data to cut rates at its meeting on Thursday. “That said, we’re not as confident about that as we were before this data release,” he added. Last month, the BoE trimmed its annual growth forecast for 2024 to 1% from 1.25% but predicted a stronger 2025 with 1.5% growth, reflecting a short-term boost to the economy from Reeves’ budget. Britain’s economic output has grown slowly since the pandemic. Only Germany, which was also hit hard by surging energy costs after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, has done noticeably worse among the largest advanced economies. Separate ONS trade data showed imports and exports of goods fell in October. Exports to the European Union were higher than exports to the rest of the world for the first time in nearly a year. NEW YORK (AP) — Greg Gumbel, a longtime CBS sportscaster, has died from cancer, according to a statement from family released by CBS on Friday. He was 78. “He leaves behind a legacy of love, inspiration and dedication to over 50 extraordinary years in the sports broadcast industry; and his iconic voice will never be forgotten,” his wife Marcy Gumbel and daughter Michelle Gumbel said in a statement. In March, Gumbel missed his first NCAA Tournament since 1997 due to what he said at the time were family health issues. Gumbel was the studio host for CBS since returning to the network from NBC in 1998. Gumbel signed an extension with CBS last year that allowed him to continue hosting college basketball while stepping back from NFL announcing duties. In 2001, he announced Super Bowl XXXV for CBS, becoming the first Black announcer in the U.S. to call play-by-play of a major sports championship. David Berson, president and CEO of CBS Sports, described Gumbel as breaking barriers and setting standards for others during his years as a voice for fans in sports, including in the NFL and March Madness. “A tremendous broadcaster and gifted storyteller, Greg led one of the most remarkable and groundbreaking sports broadcasting careers of all time," said Berson. Gumbel had two stints at CBS, leaving the network for NBC when it lost football in 1994 and returning when it regained the contract in 1998. He hosted CBS’ coverage of the 1992 and 1994 Winter Olympics and called Major League Baseball games during its four-year run broadcasting the national pastime. In 1995, he hosted the World Figure Skating Championships and the following year hosted NBC’s daytime coverage of the Olympic Summer Games in Atlanta. But it was football and basketball where he was best known and made his biggest impact. Gumbel hosted CBS’ NFL studio show, “The NFL Today” from 1990 to 1993 and again in 2004. He also called NFL games as the network’s lead play-by-play announcer from 1998 to 2003, including Super Bowl XXXV and XXXVIII. He returned to the NFL booth in 2005, leaving that role after the 2022 season. He won local Emmy Awards during his long career and was the recipient of the 2007 Pat Summerall Award for excellence in sports broadcasting. Outside of his career as a sportscaster, Gumbel was affiliated with the March of Dimes for three decades, including as a member of its board of trustees. He also was a member of the Sports Council for St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital for 16 years. ATLANTA (AP) — Jalen Johnson scored 28 points and the Atlanta Hawks closed out a four-game homestand, winning a third straight contest, 120-110 over the Miami Heat on Saturday. Trae Young added his 22nd double-double of the season, with 11 point and 15 assist, and De'Andre Hunter scored 26 points in his 14th consecutive game with at least 15 points coming off the bench. Tyler Herro scored 28 points and dished out 10 assists and Bam Adebayo added 17 points and 10 rebounds. It was the Heat's fourth game in a row without star Jimmy Butler , who sat out for what the team called “return to competition reconditioning.” Takeaways Heat: Miami lost despite five players finishing with double-digit point totals. The Heat shot 44.4% from the field, but it wasn't enough to overcome a Hawks team that hit over half of its shots, 51.2% from the field. Hawks: Johnson has been on an offensive tear in his last two games. He finished two points shy of his single-game career high of 30 points, set in his last game, on Thursday against the Chicago Bulls. Hunter also finished just one point shy of his single-game career high of 27 points. Key moment After a close first half that featured nine lead changes, Atlanta seized control early in the second half. With five minutes to go in the third quarter, Atlanta’s Garrison Mathews and Hunter hit back-to-back 3s to give Atlanta an 81-72 lead, their biggest of the night, and forcing a Miami timeout. Key stat Young finished one assist shy of a franchise single-game record for assists against the Miami Heat, set by Mookie Blaylock in 1993. The current issues plaguing the Raptors defence should be addressed Sunday with the expected return of centre Jakob Poeltl. After missing four games with strained groin muscles, Poeltl practised fully on Saturday and, barring any overnight issues popping up, will play against the Atlanta Hawks as Toronto tries to snap a season-worst nine-game losing streak. Poeltl’s return cannot come quickly enough for the foundering Raptors. Toronto was scorched defensively in its last two losses: giving up a franchise-worst 155 points in Memphis on Thursday, after being burned for 139 on almost 60 per cent shooting by the Knicks in New York on Monday. The team dinners are nice and the summers in Spain and Florida are important, but there’s another element at play that connects these Raptors. The team dinners are nice and the summers in Spain and Florida are important, but there’s another element at play that connects these Raptors. It gave the Raptors zero chance of scoring their way to wins, and the presence of the seven-foot veteran Poeltl should at least let them be more competitive. “It’s two things that really stood out, is guarding the ball and rebounding,” coach Darko Rajakovic said Saturday. “And ... you know me, that I’m not the guy that will look for excuses and who we have, who we don’t have. But it was obvious that we really lacked the rebounding piece, and Jak is a big part of that.” Poeltl is central to everything the Raptors do, at both ends of the court. He’s their best rebounder, toughest interior defender and the fulcrum of much of the offence. Things just don’t look or feel right if he’s not in his regular spot. Fans see it, teammates see it, coaches see it. He sees it. Toronto coach and his staff have done well by helping their young players develop their individual skills. Now they need to make the group better Toronto coach and his staff have done well by helping their young players develop their individual skills. Now they need to make the group better “We’re playing so much through our fives, and we kind of developed this system — not only on defence but on offence — of how we move as a unit,” Poeltl said. “If you take a piece out of that, then it’s going to be difficult because you don’t have the reps in different lineups out there. “Obviously, stuff that I supply for the team, like rebounding, is stuff we’re missing, but it’s also unusual lineups that we’re not used to. People having to take on different roles that they’re not used to.” The Raptors are fortunate that Poeltl will only have missed four games, giving how seriously he appeared to be injured when he slipped on a wet spot on the court during a Dec. 16 loss to Chicago. “Immediately there was a lot of pain, and I thought it was going to be really bad, but pretty quickly I got up and got moving and it felt almost fine; I wanted to keep playing,” he said. “Then they took me in the back, checked it out, and as the adrenalin went away the pain started to come back. But I wouldn’t say at any time did I think it was terrible ... the after imaging and stuff, they told me it should be fine pretty soon.” Bruce Brown, meanwhile, is expected to play for the first time this season after summer knee surgery, and will provide another veteran who might settle the Raptors when games start slipping away. He said Saturday that he is finally trusting his surgically repaired knee, and playing more instinctively than carefully. Both he and Poeltl will be watched carefully, Rajakovic said. Raptors Head Coach Darko Rajaković has been ejected from the game. 👀 pic.twitter.com/D8yI8i74d4 The coach will also be back on the bench after an emotional explosion that earned him an ejection in Memphis. Rajakovic said he was irate at the officials when he charged the court to confront them, but was also playing to his players. “I will always be there for my team; I will always stand up for my guys,” he said. “At that moment as well, I felt that my team (needed) to wake up, and I wanted to send the message that we need to fight all the way to the last minute.”

The Lions are holding out hope that running back David Montgomery will be able to play again this season, but his return will not come against the 49ers on Monday night. Montgomery was ruled out of their Week 17 game on the team’s final injury report of the week. Montgomery has a knee injury and will be missing his second straight game. They alleged they were filmed in the nude without their knowledge. He was 88. said on X he believed his father was one of the most important actors in the history of film: “Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that.” The tall and gaunt Sutherland, who flashed a grin that could be sweet or diabolical, was known for offbeat characters like Hawkeye Pierce in Robert Altman's "M.A.S.H.," the hippie tank commander in "Kelly's Heroes" and the stoned professor in "Animal House." Before transitioning into a long career as a respected character actor, Sutherland epitomized the unpredictable, antiestablishment cinema of the 1970s. He never stopped working, appearing in nearly 200 films and series. Over the decades, Sutherland showed his range in more buttoned-down — but still eccentric — roles in Robert Redford's "Ordinary People" and Oliver Stone's "JFK." He became a lifelong actor with some 200 film and TV credits. The lion share of those came in his 50s, 60s, and 70s, as filmmakers and TV producers turned to him again and again to imbue small but pivotal parts with a wizened and worn soulfulness. Cobbs appeared on television shows including “The Sopranos," “The West Wing,” “Sesame Street” and “Good Times.” He was Whitney Houston's manager in “The Bodyguard” (1992), the mystical clock man of the Coen brothers' “The Hudsucker Proxy” (1994) and the doctor of John Sayles' “Sunshine State” (2002). He played the coach in “Air Bud” (1997), the security guard in “Night at the Museum” (2006) and the father on “The Gregory Hines Show." Cobbs rarely got the kinds of major parts that stand out and win awards. Instead, Cobbs was a familiar and memorable everyman who left an impression on audiences, regardless of screen time. He won a Daytime Emmy Award for outstanding limited performance in a daytime program for the series “Dino Dana” in 2020. He was 79 and had suffered from Parkinson's disease. Often called “The Kinkster" and sporting sideburns, a thick mustache and cowboy hat, Friedman earned a cult following and reputation as a provocateur throughout his career across musical and literary genres. In the 1970s, his satirical country band Kinky Friedman and the Texas Jewboys wrote songs with titles such as “They Ain't Makin' Jews Like Jesus Anymore” and “Get Your Biscuits in the Oven and Your Buns in Bed.” Friedman joined part of Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue tour in 1976. By the 1980s, Friedman was writing crime novels that often included a version of himself, and he wrote a column for Texas Monthly magazine in the 2000s. The 1980s also brought what many thought was his best work, “A History of White People in America,” a mockumentary that first aired on Cinemax. Mull co-created the show and starred as a “60 Minutes” style investigative reporter investigating all things milquetoast and mundane. Willard was again a co-star. In the 1990s he was best known for his recurring role on several seasons on “Roseanne,” in which he played a warmer, less sleazy boss to the title character, an openly gay man whose partner was played by Willard, . Struggling Lakers return home looking to right the shipWillow Lane Acquisition Corp. Announces Separate Trading of Class A Ordinary Shares and Warrants

D.R. Horton director Barbara Allen sells $921,515 in stockOver the past few seasons, Sam Hauser has been a vital part of the Boston Celtics rotation . Hauser’s size, shooting, and high IQ make him an ideal fit in the Celtics’ system. However, the 6-foot-8 wing is in the midst of a down season, in large part due to a back injury that has kept him sidelined at various points of the season. Let’s dive into Hauser’s comments and how his back injury is impacting his play. Celtics’ Forward Sam Hauser Opens Up About Nagging Injury Before the Celtics’ recent game against the Indiana Pacers , Hauser discussed his back injury and how it’s affected his season so far. Sam Hauser on having to deal with back injuries: “It sucks, obviously, getting hurt — but just trying to do everything I can not to let it happen again. “It’s been a little frustrating... trying to find a rhythm. And that’s tough sometimes, but just working through it.” pic.twitter.com/bPK0ZxAw1z — Noa Dalzell (@NoaDalzell) December 27, 2024 Last season, Hauser averaged 9.0 points and 3.5 rebounds on 44.6 percent shooting from the field and 42.4 percent from beyond the arc. Through 24 games this season, he is averaging 7.7 points and 3.3 rebounds on 42.5 percent shooting from the field and 35.6 percent from beyond the arc. Hauser’s injury is a key reason for his down year. Notably, Hauser has already missed more games than the previous two seasons combined. His dip in three-point shooting has been the most noticeable drop-off. Hauser’s shooting has been a central part of his and the Celtics’ success in recent years. Before this year, Hauser had shot 40 percent or more in each of his three seasons, dropping to a league average 35 percent is certainly concerning. This dip in shooting is paired with the Celtics’ three-point percentage declining from 38.8 to 36.6 while the team is taking eight more threes per game. Additionally, Hauser looks less mobile on both ends of the floor. In the Celtics’ recent game against the Pacers, Hauser earned a starting spot with Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday sidelined, he scored four points on 2-8 shooting from the field and 0-5 shooting from beyond the arc. Can Hauser Get Back on Track? While Hauser has struggled so far this season, he is still an important part of the Celtics’ rotation, and there’s plenty of time for him to get back on track. Despite his struggles, Hauser is still averaging 21.7 minutes per game compared to 22 minutes last season; this underscores Joe Mazzulla ‘s trust in him. Hauser has missed five games due to his back injury, including recent consecutive games against the Chicago Bulls and three straight games in October. He also missed a game against the Detroit Pistons in December with an abductor injury. Furthermore, he has frequently been a game-time decision at various points this season due to his back injury. To Hauser’s point, it’s challenging to find a rhythm, especially as a spot-up shooter, when you are constantly in and out of the lineup. Back injuries can linger for a while, for Hauser and the Celtics’ sake, let’s hope this injury goes away sooner rather than later. Ultimately, Hauser returning to his 2023-24 season form would greatly benefit the Celtics. This article first appeared on Last Word On Sports and was syndicated with permission.

In 2024, the cryptocurrency world faced a staggering blow as North Korean hackers stole a record-breaking $1.34 billion across 47 cyberattacks, according to a report by Chainalysis. This amount accounted for 61% of all stolen crypto funds for the year, marking a 21% increase compared to 2023. The scale of these attacks is unprecedented, with incidents like the DMM Bitcoin hack in May, which resulted in a $305 million loss , and the WazirX heist in July, where $235 million was stolen. These attacks highlight the growing sophistication of state-sponsored hacking groups , particularly those from North Korea , who use stolen funds to finance their weapons programs. With private key compromises accounting for 44% of the losses, it’s clear that even the most secure platforms are vulnerable. As the cryptocurrency market continues to grow, so does the risk of cyberattacks, making it crucial for investors to adopt safer strategies. This is where LuckHunter (LHUNT) comes into play. Crypto presales have become one of the safest and most lucrative ways to enter the cryptocurrency market, especially for investors seeking early access to promising projects. Unlike buying tokens after they’ve been listed on exchanges, presales allow investors to acquire tokens at significantly lower prices, maximizing their profit potential. For instance, many presales offer bonuses and discounts, with some tokens appreciating by as much as 400% from presale to public listing . This early-stage opportunity comes with reduced competition, as only a select group of investors participate in these events. Moreover, presales often come with structured tokenomics, ensuring a fair distribution of tokens and a focus on long-term value creation. Another reason why presales are considered secure is the transparency they provide. Projects like LuckHunter (LHUNT) share detailed whitepapers, roadmaps, and use cases, allowing investors to understand the platform’s vision and potential fully. For example, LuckHunter’s presale allocates 50% of its total token supply to early investors, ensuring that the community has a significant stake in the project’s success. Additionally, the funds raised during presales are often used for development, marketing, and security improvements, further solidifying the project’s foundation. With a growing number of incidents like the $1.34 billion stolen in 2024 by North Korean hackers, presales provide a safer alternative for investors looking to avoid the risks associated with unregulated platforms and exchanges. By CLAIRE RUSH President-elect Donald Trump has once again suggested he wants to revert the name of North America’s tallest mountain — Alaska’s Denali — to Mount McKinley, wading into a sensitive and decades-old conflict about what the peak should be called. For the agents removing immigrants, it’s a painstaking process Former President Barack Obama changed the official name to Denali in 2015 to reflect the traditions of Alaska Natives as well as the preference of many Alaska residents. The federal government in recent years has endeavored to change place-names considered disrespectful to Native people. “Denali” is an Athabascan word meaning “the high one” or “the great one.” A prospector in 1896 dubbed the peak “Mount McKinley” after President William McKinley, who had never been to Alaska. That name was formally recognized by the U.S. government until Obama changed it over opposition from lawmakers in McKinley’s home state of Ohio. Trump suggested in 2016 that he might undo Obama’s action, but he dropped that notion after Alaska’s senators objected. He raised it again during a rally in Phoenix on Sunday. “McKinley was a very good, maybe a great president,” Trump said Sunday. “They took his name off Mount McKinley, right? That’s what they do to people.” Once again, Trump’s suggestion drew quick opposition within Alaska. “Uh. Nope. It’s Denali,” Democratic state Sen. Scott Kawasaki posted on the social platform X Sunday night. Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski , who for years pushed for legislation to change the name to Denali, conveyed a similar sentiment in a post of her own. “There is only one name worthy of North America’s tallest mountain: Denali — the Great One,” Murkowski wrote on X. Various tribes of Athabascan people have lived in the shadow of the 20,310-foot (6,190-meter) mountain for thousands of years. McKinley, a Republican native of Ohio who served as the 25th president, was assassinated early in his second term in 1901 in Buffalo, New York. Alaska and Ohio have been at odds over the name since at least the 1970s. Alaska had a standing request to change the name since 1975, when the legislature passed a resolution and then-Gov. Jay Hammond appealed to the federal government. Known for its majestic views, the mountain is dotted with glaciers and covered at the top with snow year-round, with powerful winds that make it difficult for the adventurous few who seek to climb it. After a stellar eight-year run with the Atlanta Braves, Max Fried has cashed in by securing a lucrative contract with the New York Yankees in free agency. Per Jeff Passan of ESPN, Fried has agreed to an eight-year, $218 million contract with the Yankees: This news comes two days after the Yankees lost Juan Soto, who reportedly signed a 15-year, $765 million contract with the New York Mets. Fried was originally selected by the San Diego Padres with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2012 MLB draft. He spent two years in the organization before being traded to the Braves as part of the Justin Upton deal in December 2014. At the time of the trade, Fried was recovering from Tommy John surgery that kept him out for all of 2015. He returned to action in the minors in 2016 before making his MLB debut late in the 2017 season. It wasn't until 2019 that Fried carved out a permanent role in Atlanta's rotation. He had a breakout season during the 2020 season that was shortened to 60 games due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The left-hander went 7-0 with a 2.25 ERA and finished fifth in NL Cy Young voting. Fried's worst season by ERA was 2024 when he had a 3.25 mark in 29 starts. He has been named an All-Star in two of the past three years, finishing second in NL Cy Young voting in 2022. The 30-year-old started and won the clinching Game 6 for the Braves in the 2021 World Series against the Houston Astros. He threw six shutout innings, allowing four hits with six strikeouts in a 7-0 victory. In the wake of Atlanta's postseason loss to the San Diego Padres last season, Fried expressed hope that the two sides would be able to work out a long-term deal to keep him. "[Wearing the Braves uniform] means everything," Fried said. "It's the organization that traded for me and gave me the opportunity to come to the big leagues and be an established big league player. I obviously don't know what's going to happen, but I have absolutely loved every minute of it, and hope to have many more." Losing Fried puts the Braves in a tricky spot going into next year. Spencer Strider could miss some time at the start of 2025 while recovering from elbow surgery , but his decision to go with the internal brace procedure rather than Tommy John could bring him back sooner. Chris Sale had a fantastic rebound year in 2024 that earned him the NL Cy Young, but he's going to be 36 at the start of next season and was unable to pitch in the playoffs due to a back injury. While the Braves are going to have a lot to figure out in their rotation, Fried will join the Yankees' pitching staff in 2025 and beyond. He's been one of the most reliable starters in baseball since 2019. Fried's 18.4 FanGraphs' wins above replacement over the past six seasons ranks fifth among all NL starters, trailing only Zack Wheeler (29.3), Aaron Nola (23.2), Max Scherzer (19.2) and Logan Webb (18.8). After keeping Gerrit Cole following a bit of uncertainty about his opt-out situation , the Yankees are adding another frontline starter to their rotation. Carlos Rodón had a solid 2024 campaign, but he's been underwhelming overall since signing a six-year, $162 million contract with the Yankees in free agency. Nestor Cortes Jr. is a fine mid-rotation starter who hasn't pitched at the level he did to start the 2022 season when he earned an All-Star selection. Marcus Stroman, who signed with the Yankees last offseason, couldn't make their playoff roster after a rough regular season. Luis Gil has tremendous upside with a devastating changeup if he can ever harness his control after walking 77 batters in 151.2 innings. Fried will slot in behind Cole to give the Bronx Bombers a formidable duo at the top of their pitching staff, while also moving other starters in the rotation down a slot as they try to get back to the World Series after losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in five games.

While the rest of the Notre Dame community figures out whether it's worth paying four figures for a ticket to the College Football Playoff first-round home game against Indiana, the men's basketball team continues to figure out how to survive without Markus Burton. Notre Dame (5-5) hosts its next-to-last nonconference game Wednesday night against Dartmouth (4-4), which plays its sixth contest of a seven-game road trip. The Fighting Irish took a promising step -- and snapped a five-game losing streak -- on Saturday by edging Syracuse 69-64 in their ACC opener. "We needed to be in a close game and we needed to win a close game so our guys can build some belief back," head coach Micah Shrewsberry said. "We can't take any steps back on Wednesday." Without Burton -- the stat sheet-stuffing sophomore point guard who injured the medial collateral ligament in his knee Nov. 26 against Rutgers -- the Irish are struggling to find someone to run the offense, as evidenced by their seven assists versus 15 turnovers against Syracuse. At the same time, players are filling the scoring void. Braeden Shrewsberry poured in a career-high-tying 25 points versus the Orange while hitting 6 of 11 3-point attempts. Tae Davis averaged 12.4 points and 7.2 shots per game when Burton was healthy, but he has upped his mean production to 16.6 points and 12.2 shots in the past five games. Micah Shrewsberry, though, prefers to measure progress on a possession-by-possession basis. "Just the toughness," he said. "There have been times when we haven't gotten the key stop. We haven't gotten the bucket when we quite need it. It gets deflating sometimes." Dartmouth knows that feeling. On Sunday, the Big Green took a one-point lead with 4:03 left in overtime at UIC -- and then failed to score on their final six possessions to suffer a 69-68 loss. The Big Green, who haven't posted a winning season since 1998-99, believe whole-heartedly in launching 3-pointers as they take 48 percent of their shots from behind the arc. Senior Cade Haskins (13.6 ppg) has hit a team-high 28 of 68 3-pointers this season, though fellow senior Ryan Cornish stacks up as the team's top scorer (14.3 ppg), passer (3.0 assists per game) and defender (2.3 steals per game). In its only previous game against a power-conference opponent, Dartmouth upset Boston College 88-83 on Nov. 29. --Field Level MediaPresident-elect Trump wants to again rename North America’s tallest peakNasdaq Announces End-of-Month Open Short Interest Positions in Nasdaq Stocks as of Settlement Date November 29, 2024

Yankees sign lefty Ace to eight-year, $218 million contractIn a lengthy speech at the Brookings Institution, a Washington, D.C. think tank, on Tuesday, President Joe Biden forcefully defended his economic legacy and harshly criticized his successor. “Most economists agree the new administration is going to inherit a fairly strong economy, at least at the moment, an economy going through fundamental transformation,” Biden said. “It is my profound hope that the new administration will preserve and build on this progress. Like most great economic developments, this one is neither red nor blue, and America's progress is everyone's progress.” RELATED STORY | What impacts will a Trump presidency have on the economy? The president pointed specifically to record job growth during his tenure and an historically-low unemployment rate, as well as solid GDP performance, major investments in infrastructure and a soaring stock market. Most economists agree Biden’s term in office has coincided with a strong jobs market, and note the economic forecast remains bright – especially when contrasted to that of other peer nations, many of which have struggled to rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic. And yet, Americans by and large disapprove of Biden’s economic tenure, particularly the high costs of goods and services. Though inflation has fallen some, it remains higher than when the president took office and has become a frequent point of attack for Republicans critical of the Biden administration. RELATED STORY | Wealthier Americans are driving retail spending and powering US economy President-elect Donald Trump’s victory last month served in some was as a repudiation of the president’s so-called “Bidenomics” policies, with most voters telling pollsters they were dissatisfied with the state of the U.S. economy and Biden’s handling of the issue. Since Trump’s election, attitudes towards the economy have improved slightly, particularly among Republicans; according to research from Gallup, just eight percent of Republicans in October viewed economic conditions as getting better, compared to 30% last month. Biden himself seemed to acknowledge some missteps in selling his economic vision to Americans. “I also learned something from Donald Trump,” Biden said. “He signed checks for people for $7,400 bucks,” the president noted of the pandemic-era relief measures. Even though Biden approved similar relief efforts during his term, his name never appeared on American’s checks. “I didn't – stupid,” Biden conceded. RELATED STORY | Powell says Fed will likely cut rates cautiously given persistent inflation pressures Seeking to bolster Biden’s economic legacy, the White House on Tuesday launched a new website hailing the “Biden Economy,” featuring statistics about economic performance during his term and complimentary videos from his supporters. Biden’s speach, meanwhile, also served as a warning of sorts to his successor, with the president arguing against tax cuts for the wealthy and the notion that such benefits would “trickle down” to middle class Americans. “You can make as much money as you can, good for you, but everybody's got to be they pay their fair share,” Biden said. Trump has pledged to extend the tax cuts he signed into law in 2017, telling NBC News he intends to submit a tax package to Congress within his first 100 days in office. “They’re coming due and they’re very substantial for people,” Trump said of his 2017 cuts. “That’s what led us to one of the greatest economies ever.” RELATED STORY | Amid corporate layoffs, 36% of workforce turns to gig economy for alternative employment A report by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office in December found that failing to extend those tax incentives would have a negligible impact on the economy, though Republicans are expected to pursue them and other business tax breaks after they retake both chambers of Congress next year. Trump has also promised to impose significant tariffs on the import of foreign goods from Mexico, Canada and China – despite economists’ and retailers’ warnings that will drive up consumer prices. Trump in the NBC interview said he couldn’t guarantee the move wouldn’t increase consumer costs, something Biden harshly refuted. “I believe we've proven that approach is a mistake over the past four years,” Biden said. “But we all know in time, we all know in time what will happen.”PLEASANTON, Calif. , Dec. 23, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- 10x Genomics, Inc. (Nasdaq: TXG), a leader in single cell and spatial biology, announced today it had secured a permanent injunction in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware against the GeoMx products sold by Bruker Corporation (Nasdaq: BRKR), which acquired the product line from NanoString Technologies. To minimize the risk of disruption to ongoing research, 10x Genomics requested a carve-out for GeoMx users who installed an instrument prior to the trial in November 2023 . The injunction, which the Court said it will enter in January 2025 , is expected to prohibit Bruker from making, using, selling or offering to sell in the United States its GeoMx Digital Spatial Profiler and associated instruments, reagents and services for RNA and protein detection. At the request of 10x Genomics, the injunction will not block ongoing research by researchers who installed a GeoMx instrument prior to November 18, 2023 . Such customers can continue to purchase GeoMx reagents for use with existing GeoMx instruments for purposes of continuing their ongoing research. The Court found that making such an exception for ongoing research strikes a "workable balance between protecting the patentee's rights and protecting the public from the injunction's adverse effects." In addition, the Court affirmed the $31 million damages awarded by the November 2023 jury verdict, as well as supplemental damages and interest that will be added to the total damages when final judgment is entered. "Today's decision helps to safeguard our decade-long investment in innovation and ensures we can continue to develop groundbreaking technologies that help our customers revolutionize science," said Eric Whitaker , Chief Legal Officer at 10x Genomics. "10x exists to fuel scientific progress – not stifle it – and that is why we've done our utmost to ensure this injunction was structured to protect both our intellectual property and existing GeoMx customers' ongoing research." The Court recognized the harm NanoString's infringing conduct caused 10x when it wrote in its ruling, "Having been careful not to license its technology, 10x suffers when it proclaims itself as an innovator in spatial genomics but a competitor is using the same innovative, patented technology." Today's Court decision follows a November 2023 jury verdict that found that NanoString's GeoMx products willfully infringed seven patents exclusively licensed to 10x Genomics by Prognosys. During the trial, the jury heard testimony from the sole inventor of the patents, Illumina co-founder Mark Chee , and NanoString CEO Brad Gray and NanoString CSO Joe Beechem. After hearing all of the evidence, the jury determined that all seven patents had been infringed by NanoString, that each patent was valid, that NanoString willfully infringed those patents and that monetary damages were owed to 10x for the infringement of all seven patents. In affirming the jury's finding that NanoString willfully infringed, the Court relied on the evidence showing that NanoString knew or was willfully blind that its acts would cause infringement of 10x's rights. The asserted patents in Case No. 21-cv-653-MFK include (a) U.S. Patent No. 10,472,669; (b) U.S. Patent No. 10,961,566; (c) U.S. Patent No. 10,983,113; (d) U.S. Patent No. 10,996,219; (e) U.S. Patent No. 11,001,878; (f) U.S. Patent No. 11,008,607 and (g) U.S. Patent No. 11,293,917. goalkeeper is "alert" and conscious after being taken off the field on a stretcher during the team's at on Thursday, manager Julen Lopetegui said. The game was delayed for around eight minutes as Fabianski received treatment on the field at St Mary's Stadium. The 39-year-old Polish goalkeeper was hurt in a collision from a corner and was replaced by in the 36th minute. Southampton 'keeper had run the length of the field to check on Fabianski amid worrying scenes. Fabianski was then greeted by applause as he was taken off with an oxygen mask on, but did not need to go to the hospital. "He had one big knock around the head, around the neck and he was not very sure about his actions. Fortunately the news is he is talking, he is alert, he is conscious," Lopetegui said. "I talk with him. The doctors say that he feels better and well. I am positive with him. He showed he more or less recovered his sense. I am not afraid. We feared but now he is better and it is a positive feeling because we were very worried." West Ham, which also saw defender go off in the first half, scored through in the 59th.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Two days before recording another milestone, resume-building sack on Sunday at Cincinnati, Myles Garrett delivered a jarring hit — on the Browns. In this case, any roughness could be deemed necessary. Garrett piled on to what has been a painful and puzzling season in Cleveland by saying he doesn’t have any interest in going through another rebuild and wants to know exactly what the organization’s offseason plans are to fix things. If that wasn’t enough, Garrett indicated for the first time that he would consider leaving the Browns if his vision doesn’t mesh with the team’s ambitions. “It’s a possibility,” he said of playing elsewhere. “But I want to be a Cleveland Brown. I want to play my career here.” It’s unclear how Garrett’s comments were received by owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam, who have plenty to consider as the Browns (3-12) head into the final two weeks of a season that began with playoff expectations and could be followed by upheaval. The Browns haven’t been this bad since going 0-16 in 2017. Garrett, who reached 100 career sacks by taking down Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow late in the first half of Sunday’s 24-6 loss , may have either added to the Haslams’ long list of concerns — the Deshaun Watson contract situation is a priority — or brought them clarity. RELATED COVERAGE The Darnold-Jefferson connection is thriving for the surging Vikings Patriots coach Jerod Mayo believes narrow loss to Bills shows potential of his young team Giants’ 10th straight loss showed once again that they need a young QB There’s no denying that Garrett’s remarks carry substantial weight, which is partly why he spoke up. He’s the Browns’ best player, a franchise cornerstone, a future Hall of Famer and arguably the most disruptive defensive force in the game today. He’s also leading with actions. Garrett showed extraordinary effort in chasing down and tackling Burrow before tumbling out of bounds and crashing into Cleveland’s bench and some portable heaters. He might be frustrated, but he’s not giving up. “A testament of who he is as a player and who he is as a person,” linebacker Jordan Hicks said. What the reigning Defensive Player of the Year says matters. It will be interesting to see if the Haslams listen. At this point, there are indications the Browns intend to stick with coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry, whose major misses in recent drafts have become more magnified with each loss. There will be changes; it’s just a matter of how drastic and if they’ll be enough to satisfy Garrett’s wishes. He turns 29 on Dec. 29 and has two years left on a $125 million contract extension. The All-Pro is in his prime and doesn’t want to waste another season in a pointless pursuit of a Super Bowl title. His goal is to win a championship with Cleveland — or someone. Garrett’s serious. He’s asking the Browns to show him they are, too. What’s working Cleveland’s defense is doing its part. For the second week in a row, the Browns contained one of the NFL’s most talented offenses, holding the Bengals and their top-ranked passing game below most of their season averages. Burrow did throw three TD passes — for the seventh game in a row — but Cincinnati scored fewer than 27 points for the first time in seven games. What needs help The Browns continue to beat themselves with costly turnovers, some more costly than others. They drove to the Cincinnati 1-yard line in the opening minutes only to have D’Onta Foreman fumble as he neared the goal line. The Bengals capitalized by driving 99 yards to take a 7-0 lead that could have been Cleveland’s. Stock up Running back Jerome Ford is making the most of a heavier workload and finishing strong. He ripped off a 66-yard run on the game’s first play and finished with 131 all-purpose yards, including 92 on 11 carries and scored Cleveland’s only TD. Ford’s emergence as a potential No. 1 back — Nick Chubb’s injuries have clouded his future — gives the team one less thing to worry about as it retools the roster. Stock down Kicker Dustin Hopkins hasn’t shaken a startling slump. After being benched for a week to work through his struggles, Hopkins missed his only kick, pushing an extra point to the right. Hopkins felt confident going in, but he’s back to trying to identify issues that could be equally mechanical and mental. He’s just 16 of 25 on field goals, 16 of 19 on PATs and the Browns’ decision to sign him to a three-year, $15.9 million extension this summer looks worse every week. Injuries QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson injured his calf early in Sunday’s game, leaving his status in doubt for a second straight start this week. If Thompson-Robinson can’t go, the Browns could go back to Jameis Winston, but he’s dealing with a sore right shoulder. ... Tight end David Njoku is dealing with yet another injury after hurting his knee. The team is awaiting results on an MRI, perhaps a sign of the severity. Njoku has missed time with injuries all season. He finished with eight catches for 66 yards. Key number 20 — Interceptions for the Browns this season. Thompson-Robinson’s two picks on Sunday gave the team 10 in the last four games. What’s next Probably a half-empty stadium for a final home game on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, who are still in the hunt for a wild-card spot. ___ AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/nflSiriraj honours staff, local communityHow major US stock indexes fared Thursday, 12/26/2024England's Test Coup Crumbles: Cox Out with Injury

Patriots QB Drake Maye sends message to teammates after Miami blowoutNEW YORK :Global stocks were set for a strong weekly gain on Friday while U.S. yields slipped as markets eyed the future policies of President-elect Donald Trump and its impact on the U.S. economy, even as bitcoin traded near the $100,000 threshold. Traders are bracing for Trump's agenda after he takes office in January, which is expected to include tariffs, tax cuts and deregulation. Trump has been nominating senior officials in his administration, and markets are awaiting his pick for Treasury secretary. Benchmark S&P 500 and the Dow were advancing and set to finish the week higher. Consumer discretionary, industrials, consumer staples, and financials stocks were driving gains while communication services and technology equities were the biggest losers. The Nasdaq was down in choppy trading although it was set for a weekly gain. Nvidia, the world's most valuable company, was down 2.5 per cent after the artificial intelligence chipmaker reported strong quarterly results but issued lacklustre sales forecasts. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.51 per cent to 44,093.82, the S&P 500 rose 0.10 per cent to 5,954.64 and the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.18 per cent to 18,938.67. Europe's Stoxx 600 share index ended the week 1 per cent higher, snapping four straight weeks of losses. MSCI's gauge of stocks across the globe rose 0.16 per cent to 852.80. "The earnings of Nvidia were really solid and the market traded off a little bit but I don't think it was a major event that it could have been," said Mark Malek, chief investment officer at SiebertNXT in New York. "So we put that behind us and when we look at what else might be driving the market this week ... People are starting to think about what has happened to the market since Trump was elected and some of the appointments he's been making." The yield on benchmark U.S. 10-year notes fell 1.8 basis points to 4.414 per cent, as markets reassess future rate cuts from the Federal Reserve given expectations that some of Trump's policies could be inflationary. The market is now pricing in a 53 per cent probability the Fed will cut rates by 25 basis points in December. Bets that Trump's administration will take a lighter-touch approach to regulation also propelled bitcoin to the brink of $100,000 for the first time. The world's largest cryptocurrency hit a fresh record high after rising above $99,000. It pared those gains and was up 0.63 per cent to $98,698. Ethereum declined 1.45 per cent to $3,300.12. The euro fell to a two-year low while the dollar gained after gauges of business activity were released in each region. The dollar index, which measures the greenback against a basket of currencies, rose 0.57 per cent to 107.67, with the euro down 0.73 per cent at $1.0397 after falling to $1.0333, its lowest since Nov. 30, 2022. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures rose 1.1 per cent to $70.87 a barrel. Gold prices breached the $2,700 threshold for the first time in two weeks, on track for their biggest weekly gain in over a year. Spot gold rose 1.21 per cent to $2,701.95 an ounce. slotbet com World leaders send condolences to South Korea after plane crashMy first Christmas was as a three-month-old infant while my father was serving on a Navy destroyer during World War II somewhere in the Atlantic. But my earliest Christmas memories were of living and celebrating on top of my dad’s thriving tavern-night club in downtown Annapolis where we lived from 1946 to 1954. Wally’s Hotel was located where the third block of West Street met Larkin Street (wrongfully renamed City Gate Lane). After receiving $100 in mustering-out pay at the end of WWII, my father needed a job. Without a high school degree, his brother asked him to manage Wally’s in Annapolis. We lived on the second floor where rental rooms still operated, but the room rentals soon stopped. Our Christmases were always memorable as there were eventually five siblings, and my mother’s strict Polish Catholic upbringing and my Jewish dad’s gregariousness ensured our celebrations were rather extravagant. They were filled with colorful characters who frequented his business, with many of them in the military or recent veterans. Musicians from the Naval Academy band joined other bands on weekends and we could hear the music. There also was a jukebox close to the dance floor. My mother wanted everything to be perfect at Christmas, neglected walls painted and our home glowing. The food she prepared and our tree and decorations needed to achieve perfection. Christmas Mass at St. Mary’s was always special. The best treat for me was the Lionel train set we had, and an elaborate setup made for the train on a big sheet of plywood. At one stop, the milk car could deliver miniature little metal containers of milk. Little white pills placed in the locomotive’s chimney emitted smoke. My mom also made Polish chruscikis, sometimes called Polish bows. These delectables were covered in powdered sugar and were a work of love as they were made from scratch. My mom would hide them until Christmas to prevent early consumption. I got caught once with the white powdery sugar evidence on my shirt. And then there was the kielbasa from Ostrowski’s on Bank Street in Baltimore where my mom grew up. Larkin Street, like many areas of downtown Annapolis, was inhabited by African Americans for more than a century. The kids who lived there were my first friends and playmates. George Samaras, who lived on top of a tavern across Larkin Street, was my first white friend. George became a prominent Annapolis doctor, and his parents and Yaya were born in Greece. The Larkin Street wooden homes seemed to date back to emancipated slave times and were without indoor plumbing or HVAC as kerosene heaters provided heat. All the Larkin Street residents were displaced in the early 1970s as urban renewal destroyed their homes and much of the old 4th Ward wiping out the black enclave I knew. The residents were dispersed to public housing or further away. City Gate Lane and its brick townhouses replaced my earliest friends’ homes. This Black displacement happened in other Annapolis areas in downtown Annapolis and later in Eastport through gentrification. My dad represented the 4th Ward on the City Council later, from 1977 to 1985. The area where I lived was as racially and religiously diverse as anywhere in the region. Everyone seemed to get along—African Americans, Greek and Italian immigrants, Jews, Catholics, Protestants, and seemingly most Whites. Yes, Annapolis was a traditional southern town, and our county and state had enslaved tens of thousands of Africans for the growing of tobacco and as house slaves. Segregation dominated but St. Mary’s schools were integrated. Growing up with Black neighbors and friends and going to school and playing sports with Blacks at St. Mary’s made me somewhat oblivious to the rampant racism that existed until I was a teenager. I also experienced anti-Semitism as late as 1983 when I was a state Senator. When I ran for House of Delegates in 1978, I was advised by a businessman to be sure to let people know I was Catholic as voters had elected one Jew from Annapolis and would not elect another. I won handily. My father’s outgoing nature and treating everyone charitably made him a terrible businessman. There was a large cache of jewelry, rings, watches and the like in a desk drawer where we lived. They were all collateral given by my dad’s patrons who, producing sob stories, gained cash loans that were never repaid. But in 1994, the year my dad passed away, I was in his townhouse when a gentleman came over, thanked him for a loan made 40 years ago and sat with my sick dad reminiscing. He paid him $60. I asked my dad who he was, and my dad replied: “I don’t know.” I had a remarkably diverse and rich childhood and my hearing the gospel singers and musicians at Asbury United Methodist Church next to where I lived hooked me on what was to be a life-long infatuation with soul music. I booked all Black or integrated soul bands going back to 1962 and still do. Christmas memories are triggered by this special season and holy day holiday. With my mom and dad long gone and the July death of my youngest brother, the past reminiscences can bring on a certain melancholy, even sadness. But Christmas Day dislodges my blues with 20 relatives, including eight kiddies, feasting and celebrating together. This year with the horrible fracturing and polarization of our society and democracy, unthinkable school murders, rising racism, the ascendancy of fascists, white supremacists and nationalistic autocrats, I am struggling to cope. Other than when WWII was raging with Adolf Hitler exterminating 6 million Jews, there was no worse time in my lifetime. So, at Christmas, we step up our giving to feed the hungry with generous donations to the World Food Program. We also support the heroic work of Doctors Without Borders and, locally, Anne Arundel Food Bank. Wouldn’t it be much more rewarding and satisfying to give charitably, to escape malls as well as online shopping binges, running up credit card debt? Yes, some folks can do both, but the commercialization of Christmas taints this celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. My fervent hope for Christmas and the New Year is that all of us can open our hearts and minds to understand one another and end the polarization that exists. In our society, friends and family members have become estranged over political schisms. We need to clothe ourselves with the true spirit of Christmas that is being buried in the extravagance of acquisitive materialism. We need to exude charity, love and respect not just for family but for all. Let us follow the 800-year-old prayer of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals: “Lord, make me an instrument of your peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy.” In this way we can make America, which is already great, even greater. Woah Vicky is known for her truly bizarre antics from time to time, and this latest one might just take the cake. Moreover, for those unaware, she recently went on a trip to Nigeria for the holiday season, and while she seemed to have a great time, she also seemingly wanted to just stir up a bit of drama for some social media engagement. The Internet personality admitted that she faked a story about her being kidnapped while she was there. "Sorry about that," Woah Vicky remarked in a new social media video update. "Everything good, y'all. God bless, God bless. Sorry about that, y'all. It's all love. I love y'all. We love y'all. I was just bored and having fun, just getting a laugh. Just getting a laugh in. That's it. It's all love, though. I was just having fun with my brother. Everything good, though. Everything good. I'm sorry about that, please forgive me." This isn't everything that people are speculating over these days, though, as she also sparked relationship rumors with Antonio Brown following some odd comments. Read More: Top 40 Hottest Hip-Hop Albums Of 2024 Elsewhere, Woah Vicky recently caught flack from NLE Choppa for accusing him of selling his soul to the devil. "Nle choppa sould his soul to the devil. B that’s why he’s saying he’s gay now. He’s a puppet. But hey. Your soul belongs to God it’s not yours to sell it’s never too Jesus loves you," she tweeted. "Cause I won’t give yo herbal ranch aioli cigarettes built a** no d**k," he responded in blunt and combative fashion, which is quite similar to how he handled other instances of similar criticism. As for Vicky, she continues to rant and speak on certain religious topics on social media, although most of them aren't really anything to write home about. Meanwhile, Woah Vicky has found herself in some other wild situations as of late, whether that's a mention concerning Chrisean Rock 's probation and assault charges earlier this year or some reality television drama. Since these headlines tend to dominate the conversation around her, then we can at least see how this might lead her to stage a kidnapping for engagement. SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Getting blown out at Green Bay following another squandered late lead the previous week against Seattle has quickly turned the San Francisco 49ers from a Super Bowl contender into a team just fighting to get back to the playoffs. If San Francisco doesn't get healthy and eliminate the errors that led to Sunday's 38-10 loss to the Packers, the focus will turn from playoff permutations to what offseason changes are necessary. “I think everyone understands completely outside and inside what the situation is,” coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday. “That’s why the Seattle game was so tough of a loss and that’s why last night was even worse. We know what we got ahead of us. We know exactly what the playoff situation is. That is what it is. But really, all that matters is this week when you do need to go on a run and put a lot of wins to even think of that.” The task doesn't get any easier as the Niners (5-6) get set to play at Buffalo on Sunday night. The 49ers are hoping to get injured stars Brock Purdy , Nick Bosa and Trent Williams back for that game, but their presence alone won't fix everything that went wrong on Sunday . The defense got repeatedly gashed early and put San Francisco in a 17-0 hole before the offense even generated a first down. The running game never got going as Christian McCaffrey has looked nothing like the 2023 Offensive Player of the Year in his three games back from Achilles tendinitis. And whenever the Niners appeared to do something right, a penalty came back to haunt them. It added up to the most lopsided loss for San Francisco since the 2018 season, before Shanahan had turned the Niners into perennial contenders. “It’s probably one of the worst ones I’ve been a part of,” linebacker Fred Warner said. “It is embarrassing. You’ve got to take it on the chin, take it like a man and move on.” Despite the doom and gloom, the 49ers are only one game behind Seattle and Arizona in the NFC West standings with six games to go. But San Francisco already has three division losses and a difficult schedule featuring games against the Bills this week and Detroit in Week 17. “My optimism is not broken by any means,” tight end George Kittle said. “We still have a lot of very talented players. We will get some guys back and I still have full trust in the coaching staff to put our guys in position to make plays. I have no worry about that. But definitely an uphill grind. We'll see what we’re made of, which I’m looking forward to.” Red-zone passes to Kittle. Backup QB Brandon Allen connected on a 3-yard TD pass to Kittle late in the second quarter for San Francisco's only TD. Kittle leads the NFL with eight touchdown catches in the red zone, which is tied with Vernon Davis (2013) for the most in a season for a Niners player since 2000. Kittle was the only consistent part of the San Francisco offense with six catches for 82 yards. Avoiding penalties. San Francisco had nine penalties for 77 yards and they were costly and sloppy. The Niners had 12 men on the field on defense on back-to-back plays, three false starts, a pass interference in the end zone and three penalties on special teams, including a holding on Eric Saubert that negated an 87-yard kickoff return by Deebo Samuel to open the second half. Rookie Dominick Puni had three penalties after being penalized just once in the first 10 games. DE Leonard Floyd. There were few positive performances on defense, but Floyd had both of the team's sacks. Run defense. San Francisco allowed 169 yards rushing, including 87 in the first quarter for the team's second-worst performance in the opening quarter since 1991. The Niners missed 19 tackles, according to Pro Football Focus, as Josh Jacobs gained 83 of his 106 yards rushing after contact. Purdy took part in a light throwing session without pain on Monday and Shanahan is hopeful he can return to practice Wednesday after missing the Green Bay game with a shoulder injury. ... Bosa (hip, oblique) and Williams (ankle) also could return this week after sitting out Sunday. ... LG Aaron Banks, DT Jordan Elliott and WR Jacob Cowing all in the concussion protocol. ... RG Dominick Puni (shoulder) and CB Deommodore Lenoir (knee) underwent MRIs on Monday and the team is waiting for results. ... CB Renardo Green (neck) and LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (knee) are day to day. 11 — The Niners generated only 11 first downs, tied for the fewest in any game in eight seasons under Shanahan. They also had 11 in the 2022 NFC title game loss at Philadelphia when Purdy hurt his elbow and in Week 2 against Seattle in Shanahan's first season in 2017. The 49ers visit Buffalo on Sunday night. AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/NFLWhen Katja Vogt considers a Jaguar, she pictures a British-made car purring confidently along the Italian coastline — a vision of familiarity that conveys "that dreaming, longing feeling we all love." She's not sure what to think about Jaguar now after the 89-year-old company announced a radical rebranding that featured loud colors and androgynous people — but no cars. Jaguar, the company says, will now be JaGUar. It will produce only electric vehicles beginning in 2026. Bad attention is good attention, Jaguar execs would appear to believe. The car brand has prompted mockery online for posting a glitzy ad without a single car in it. Say goodbye to British racing green, Cotswold Blue and black. Its colors are henceforth electric pink, red and yellow, according to a video that sparked backlash online. Its mission statement: "Create exuberance. Live vivid. Delete ordinary. Break moulds." "Intrigued?" @Jaguar posted on social media. "Weird and unsettled" is more like it, Vogt wrote on Instagram. "Especially now, with the world feeling so dystopian," the Cyprus-based brand designer wrote, "a heritage brand like Jaguar should be conveying feelings of safety, stability, and maybe a hint of rebellion — the kind that shakes things up in a good way, not in a way that unsettles." Jaguar was one of several iconic companies that announced significant rebrandings in recent weeks, upending a series of commercial — and cultural — landmarks by which many modern human beings sort one another, carve out identities and recognize the world around them. Campbell's, the 155-year-old American icon that artist Andy Warhol immortalized in pop culture decades ago, is ready for a new, soupless name. Comcast's corporate reorganization means there will soon be two television networks with "NBC" in their name — CNBC and MSNBC — that will no longer have any corporate connection to NBC News, a U.S. legacy news outlet. CNBC One could even argue the United States itself is rebranding with the election of former President Donald Trump and Republican majorities in the House and Senate. Unlike Trump's first election in 2016, he won the popular vote in what many called a national referendum on American identity. Are we, then, the sum total of our consumer decisions — what we buy, where we travel and whom we elect? Certainly, it's a question for those privileged enough to be able to afford such choices. Volumes of research in the art and science of branding — from "brandr," an old Norse word for burning symbols into the hides of livestock — say those factors do contribute to the modern sense of identity. So rebranding, especially of heritage names, can be a deeply felt affront to consumers. "It can feel like the brand is turning its back on everything that it stood for — and therefore it feels like it's turning its back on us, the people who subscribe to that idea or ideology," said Ali Marmaduke, strategy director with the Amsterdam-based Brand Potential. He said cultural tension — polarization — is surging over politics, wars in Russia and the Mideast, the environment, public health and more, creating what Marmaduke said is known as a "polycrisis": the idea that there are several massive crises converging that feel scary and complex. Campbell's soups "People are understandably freaked out by that," he said. "So we are looking for something that will help us navigate this changing, threatening world that we face." Trump's "Make America Great Again" qualifies. So did President Joe Biden's "Build Back Better" slogan. Campbell's soup itself — "Mmm Mmm Good" — isn't going anywhere, CEO Mark Clouse said. The company's new name, Campbell's Co., will reflect "the full breadth of our portfolio," which includes brands like Prego pasta sauce and Goldfish crackers. None of the recent activity around heritage brands sparked a backlash as ferocious as Jaguar's. The company stood as a pillar of tradition-loving British identity since World War II. The famous "leaper" cat Jaguar logo is pictured in 2019 at the Auto show in Paris, France. Jaguar said its approach to the rebrand was rooted in the philosophy of its founder, Sir William Lyons, to "copy nothing." What it's calling "the new Jaguar" will overhaul everything from the font of its name to the positioning of it's famous "leaper" cat. "Exuberant modernism" will "define all aspects of the new Jaguar world," according to the news release. The approach is thought to be aimed at selling fewer cars at a six-figure price point to a more diverse customer base. The reaction ranged from bewilderment to hostility. Memes sprouted up likening the video to the Teletubbies, a Benetton ad and — perhaps predictably — a bow to "woke" culture as the blowback intersected with politics. "We're looking forward to see them training with our current group as the potential of this class is very exciting and they're all great people who will create really strong friendships on the team." The 10 new additions will join a Heat program that is coming off a 6-5-3 regular season record, their second consecutive campaign with a winning record. The Heat also set a program record for fewest goals allowed in a season since joining Canada West, conceding just 15 times in 14 matches. The Heat have reached the quarterfinals in the U-Sports Canada West Conference playoffs the last two seasons.

GIRONA, Spain (AP) — Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said Jude Bellingham was not injured after his midfielder asked to substituted for what appeared to be a left thigh issue during a 3-0 win at Girona in La Liga on Saturday. “Bellingham is fine,” Ancelotti said. “He was just a bit tired and preferred not to risk anything in the final minutes.” That means Bellingham should be available when Madrid visits Atalanta on Tuesday in the Champions League, where it has lost three of five matches. Bellingham led Madrid's win after extending his scoring run to five consecutive league games for Madrid. He then set up Arda Guler to double the lead. The England midfielder asked to leave the match after he went down following contact with a Girona player with half an hour left. He rubbed his inner left thigh while he remained on the turf before walking off when replaced by Dani Ceballos with Madrid winning 2-0. Kylian Mbappé added a third goal after Bellingham was on the bench. AP soccer: https://apnews.com/hub/soccer

Taylor Swift makes surprise visit to Kansas City children's hospital

Following his October arrest for an alleged domestic violence incident, Jabrill Peppers was placed on the commissioner’s exempt list. The Patriots safety missed the following seven games, but he’ll now have a chance to play for the stretch run of the season. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero , Peppers was removed from the commissioner’s list Monday. Peppers is accused of choking a woman and shoving her head against a wall outside his Braintree, Massachusetts, apartment in early October. He was hit with charges of assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation and the possession of a class B substance; Peppers pleaded not guilty to each of those charges. As the league prepared their investigation, Peppers sat in limbo on the commissioner’s list. In addition to being barred from games, Peppers’ placement on the list meant he couldn’t even attend games nor practice with the team. In a statement ( via Christopher Price of the Boston Globe ), the NFL said their “review will remain ongoing and is not affected by this change in Peppers’ roster status.” The NFL will likely wait for the legal process to play out before handing out any unpaid suspensions. Source told Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald that Peppers’ stay on the list played a role in his sudden activation. The “baseline suspension” for a similar violation of the personal conduct policy is six games. Since Peppers has already sat out seven contests, the NFL decided to remove the player from the list. The Patriots also released a statement, acknowledging Peppers’ removal from the list while not addressing the player’s future with the team. Patriots owner Robert Kraft previously stated that Peppers will be released if the accusations he faces are proven true . The safety inked a three years, $24M extension with the team this past offseason, and his 2025 salary is connected to some guaranteed money. With Peppers now eligible to play, it’s uncertain if the team will allow the player back on the field. Peppers has a court date set for January. NoneChina, the world’s heavyweight oil consumer, has officially hit its peak. According to CNPC’s Economics & Technology Research Institute, the country’s refined oil consumption maxed out in 2023 at 399 million metric tons (roughly 8 million barrels per day) and is set to decline by 1.3% in 2024. For an economy that’s been a relentless driver of global oil demand for decades, this news is striking. As for the reasons behind the shift, they can be chalked up in part to electric vehicles, which are taking over Chinese roads. By 2035, half of the country’s car fleet is expected to be EVs, so some are predicting. This, combined with a rise in alternative fuels for trucks, is expected to slash demand for gasoline and diesel by as much as 50% from 2023 levels--if CNPC predictions ring true. Jet fuel, however, appears to be bucking the trend with a projected 70% growth, thanks to a booming aviation sector. What does this mean for crude imports? They’re also on the decline. In 2024, China’s crude oil imports are expected to drop to 544 million tons, calling into question the country’s reign as the global oil market’s growth engine. Despite this decline in demand growth, China still accounts for a hefty quarter of global crude imports. Looking further out, CNPC predicts a 25-40% drop in overall refined products consumption by 2035. Yet not all is bleak for oil. Demand for petrochemical feedstocks, such as for naphtha and LPG, is set to surge 55%, fueled by China’s expanding plastics and chemical industries. It's an evolution. For crude oil producers, the shift is a clear signal that adaptation and innovation is in order.
