golden slots game Brandon Jones made the play of at Las Vegas. He snatched a Gardner Minshew overthrow in the third quarter and ran the interception back 37 yards to set the Broncos up in the red zone. That became the offense’s first touchdown of the afternoon two plays later when for an 18-yard score. Jones, though, was no guarantee to play in the first place. He missed last week’s win over Atlanta with an abdomen injury and then spent all of Saturday sick. Jones made the trip with the team but was added to the injury report Saturday and listed as questionable. Then he played all but two snaps defensively and made an impact. Jones finished with five tackles and continues to lead the team with 79. His next one will mark a new career high. On Sunday, Jones played sick and his fellow safety P.J. Locke continued to play with a cast protecting his surgically repaired thumb. “Their toughness, that’s stuff you can never question with those guys,” said defensive lineman and former University of Texas teammate Malcolm Roach. “I’ve been with them a long time and have been knowing some of the things they play with for a long time. Every day they can be out there you know they’re going to be out there. “When Brandon was down last week, you knew something was really going on. And similar with P.J. a few weeks ago with the hand. They’re one of the toughest guys in the room so each time they can be out there helping us, you know they’re going to be there.” Payton has been happy with the production from the revamped group — Devon Key has been the primary fill-in for Jones and Locke this year — after Denver released Justin Simmons in March and waived Caden Sterns during training camp. “We’re better overall on the back end at that position than we were a year ago,” Payton said Monday. “We’ve played a few different guys back there, but I like how we’re playing. We’re communicating. Our (coaches) on defense, Vance (Joseph) and Jim Leonhard and all those guys, are doing a fantastic job. “We’re definitely, I would say, further along and it was a good performance by those guys yesterday.” Roach said the consistency and reliability of the safety pair allows the front seven to not worry if aggressive play leads to the occasional mistake. “It might be kind of a bad mindset to have, but we know we can not do everything perfect up front because Brandon Jones and P.J. are going to erase it,” he said. “That’s what we like to say. They erase big plays. ... Instead of a 20-yard gain, it might turn into an 8-yard gain. They give a good presence back there, a steady presence.” The Broncos got good news on Sunday and Payton had a positive, if brief, update regarding defensive lineman Zach Allen on Monday. Allen missed the game with a heel injury that cropped up during practice Friday. He wore a boot during the game and watched from the sideline, but Payton said Monday it doesn’t appear to be a long-term injury. “We should be fine there,” Payton said. “I’m not going to hit any injuries today, but we should be fine there.” The Broncos have a pair of decisions to make on reserve list players in the next week. Denver must activate linebacker Drew Sanders back to the 53-man roster by Wednesday. If that doesn’t happen, Sanders’ 21-day practice window will close and he will revert to the physically unable-to-perform list and his season will be over. That’s ultimately what Denver decided to do with safety Delarrin Turner-Yell last week. Then the Broncos have until Dec. 4 for receiver Josh Reynolds before they must decide on activating him back to the roster.Black Friday deals that make great holiday gifts — 35 items I’m shopping for my friends and family

The Iowa Supreme Court heard arguments for a Scott County public records dispute Wednesday afternoon over whether names of people applying for a position in elected office could be kept confidential during the selection process. The Quad-City Times reports the case stemmed from a lawsuit filed in 2023 by a former Scott County supervisor and a public records advocate after the Scott County Board of Supervisors withheld some names of candidates who applied to fill a vacancy in 2022. “Confidentiality does not attach automatically. They didn't request confidentiality, and this is involving a public official and public officials names are public record. By LARRY NEUMEISTER NEW YORK (AP) — The founder and former CEO of the failed cryptocurrency lending platform Celsius Network could face decades in prison after pleading guilty Tuesday to federal fraud charges, admitting that he misled customers about the business. Alexander Mashinsky , 58, of Manhattan, entered the plea in New York federal court to commodities and securities fraud. He admitted illegally manipulating the price of Celsius’s proprietary crypto token while secretly selling his own tokens at inflated prices to pocket about $48 million before Celsius collapsed into bankruptcy in 2022. In court, he admitted that in 2021 he publicly suggested there was regulatory consent for the company’s moves because he knew that customers “would find false comfort” with that. And he said that in 2019, he was selling the crypto tokens even though he told the public that he was not. He said he knew customers would draw false comfort from that too. “I accept full responsibility for my actions,” Mashinsky said of crimes that stretched from 2018 to 2022 as the company pitched itself to customers as a modern-day bank where they could safely deposit crypto assets and earn interest. U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a release that Mashinsky “orchestrated one of the biggest frauds in the crypto industry” as his company’s assets purportedly grew to about $25 billion at its peak, making it one of the largest crypto platforms in the world. He said Mashinsky used catchy slogans like “Unbank Yourself” to entice prospective customers with a pledge that their money would be as safe in crypto accounts as money would be in a bank. Meanwhile, prosecutors said, Mashinsky and co-conspirators used customer deposits to fund market purchases of the Celsius token to prop up its value. Machinsky made tens of millions of dollars selling his own CEL tokens at artificially high prices, leaving his customers “holding the bag when the company went bankrupt,” Williams said. An indictment alleged that Mashinsky promoted Celsius through media interviews, his social media accounts and Celsius’ website, along with a weekly “Ask Mashinsky Anything” session broadcast that was posted to Celsius’ website and a YouTube channel. Celsius employees from multiple departments who noticed false and misleading statements in the sessions warned Mashinsky, but they were ignored, the indictment said. A plea agreement Mashinsky made with prosecutors calls for him to be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison and to forfeit over $48 million, which is the amount of money he allegedly made by selling his company’s token. Sentencing was scheduled for April 8.Kosovo arrests blast suspects, Serbia denies involvementROME — The Rome Baseball Association’s DeLutis Field baseball complex, which suffered major damage in July’s tornado, is getting a $38,384 grant from Major League Baseball’s Commissioner’s Office and its Youth Development Fund, the Association announced. On July 16, the complex “suffered significant damage because of the tornado that tore through the city,” the Association announced. “Throughout the subsequent months the RBAI has worked through the process of repairing the damage.” It continued, “The cost of repairing the damage is significant and has exceed the insurance coverage on our structures. As such, the RBAI has sought out donations to cover the gap.” The Rome Lions Club presented a $2,500 grant to the Association within a few weeks of the tornado to be utilized for clean up and facility repair. The club was the first organization to reach out to support efforts to rebuild and continue to serve the youth of the community, the Association. “We are very grateful and appreciative.” Shortly after the tornado, the Association reached out to MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred, a Rome native, to ask if the league could help. Tony Reagins, chief baseball development officer for the league, connected with the Association to see how the league and the commissioner could help. Reagins flew to Rome in early September to assess the damage and understand how the RBAI contributes to the development of baseball in the area. Reagins “was impressed by the development of the facility and the Griffiss Business and Technology Park as a whole,” the Association noted. “Subsequently a very generous grant was awarded to assist in the repair of the facility.” It continued: “The RBAI’s Board of Directors want to express its deepest appreciation to both the Rome Lions Club and to Major League Baseball’s Commissioner’s Office for its generosity. While we still have some repairs to finish and funding to raise to cover repair costs we will be ready to serve the youth of our community in spring.”

Cheers and beers for Ruud van Nistelrooy as Leicester reign starts with winThis year is the 10th anniversary of Geoff Keighley's annual The Game Awards show and it sure feels like he may be ramping up to some big surprises. At other points this year Geoff has had to reel in expectations for his other shows— warning fans in June that Summer Game Fest would be more about announced games than big surprises and squashing hopes in August for a Silksong reveal at Gamescom Opening Night Live. We've gotten no such tempering of the hype this time around and in fact Geoff already told viewers over the summer that The Game Awards are more of a place for big announcements and surprises than SGF is: past announcements have included Hades 2, Armored Core 6, Alan Wake 2, and Death Stranding. For several years I always anticipated a new Dagon Age trailer at the show, but with Dragon Age: The Veilguard now out I need some new regular attendees to hang my hopes on. I'm not at liberty to discuss what PC Gamer may or may not know about the show without my keyboard getting snatched away, but it feels fair to expect some exciting reveals this year for the 10th anniversary. We'll go over what's been revealed for the show down below along with when you can watch it and some of our suspicions about what could turn up. When is The Game Awards 2024? The Game Awards 2024 premiers at 4:30 pm Pacific on Thursday, December 12 live from Los Angeles. The show's official calendar invite lists it as a three and a half hour show which sure lends some likelihood to the idea that there's a lot getting crammed in this year. You'll be able to watch The Game Awards on YouTube , Twitch , Steam , TikTok Live , and a few other social media platforms. Here's when The Game Awards airs near you : 4:30 pm PDT, December 12 (Los Angeles) 7:30 pm EDT, December 12 (New York) 9:30 pm BRT, December 12 ( São Paulo) 12:30 am GMT, December 13 (London) 1:30 am CEST, December 13 (Berlin) 11:30 am AEDT, December 13 (Sydney) 1:30 pm NZDT, December 13 (Auckland) What's going to be shown at The Game Awards this year? As usual, Geoff has been posting teasers and confirmations online ahead of the show. And in some cases developers themselves have blown the surprise—looking at you, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford. One thing we'll definitely see are all the awards, of course. You can check out the Game Awards 2024 nominees to see who's likely to get handed some trophies. Here's what else we know will definitely be turning up to the show based on Geoff's social posts: The biggest gaming news, reviews and hardware deals Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team. Hazelight Studio - Developers of It Takes Two will reveal their next game Borderlands 4 - A new trailer, including gameplay, for the next game Palworld - Will be making an appearance of some kind, likely to talk about the next game update Dying Light - Likely new info about Dying Light: The Beast Mafia: The Old Country - A "global reveal" for the prequel Mafia series game Warframe - An update on the Warframe 1999 update As usual for Geoff's events, rumors and alleged leaks are flying but none that are really substantiated. It's true that Hideo Kojima is showing up as an award presenter, but we shouldn't necessarily expect a new Death Stranding 2 trailer—it could happen though. A recently spotted Resident Evil 9 page on Metacritic has fans of the series anticipating an incoming announcement as well. It does seem like Capcom is pretty focused on Monster Hunter: Wilds right now though. Fans who are more lost in the sauce are asking whether there's a chance to see a new GTA 6 or Silksong trailer but neither of those seem likely. Rockstar tends to be rather happy to do things on its own without turning up to Geoff's shows and the Silksong copium is just the usual pre-showcase jitters. Other unlikely—but possible—predictions include a new game from Naughty Dog or God of War studio Sony Santa Monica, or a first proper look at Insomniac's Wolverine or Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts 4. If you want some totally unconfirmed guesses and requests from me, I think it's about time for IO Interactive to show us something about that James Bond game it's working on and for Limbo and Inside developer Playdead Games to properly announce that third game it's allegedly been working on for years. But those are just shots in the dark.Chronister is the second person selected by the president-elect to bow out quickly after being nominated for a position requiring Senate confirmation.

Walmart said it is likely to miss its 2025 and 2030 targets for reducing planet-warming emissions. The retail giant said it was due to challenges related to energy policy, infrastructure and availability of cost-effective low-carbon technologies, Reuters reported. Walmart had previously pledged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its operations by 35% in 2025 and 65% in 2030, compared to levels in 2015. But neither of these targets appeared to be in reach and its progress was delayed, the company said in an update published on its website on Wednesday. Despite having a smaller carbon footprint per unit of sales compared to more polluting manufacturers and food processors, Walmart is facing some difficulties in reducing emissions due to the opening of more stores and shipment of goods, according to Reuters. Walmart employee shares firm response to customer who refused to scan her own items at self checkout Heartbroken family blames Walmart for 9-year-old's death after metal cart incident and years of seizures Walmart cited three drivers of the emissions rise in 2023: pollution from aging refrigeration equipment, fuel emissions from transportation and expansion of renewable energy slowing relative to its business growth. The news comes after Walmart, along with Target, introduced a new cash policy in the Lone Star State, reportedly as part of a broader national effort to bolster US currency security and curb fraudulent transactions. Starting from December, Walmart, Target, and several other large retailers in Texas will no longer accept 'mutilated' bills. This includes dollar notes that are torn, burned, discolored, or have damaged edges. The new policy applies to all denominations, from $1 bills to $100 bills. Several other major retailers are expected to follow suit in the new year. All cash used in stores will need to meet a uniform standard. The initiative was sparked by a program from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and the Federal Reserve to enhance currency security and reduce the circulation of damaged or counterfeit bills. I’m A Celebrity suffers very awkward tech blunder after Melvin’s exit leaving Ant McPartlin frustratedMichelle Goth There is always that one dish on the Thanksgiving table – overlooked while the mashed potatoes and gravy steal the spotlight. Surprisingly, this much-maligned side dish has been a part of American tradition for centuries and holds endless possibilities beyond its original purpose, perfectly suited to be reinvented in unexpected ways. Despite its deep roots in Thanksgiving history, this dish remains one of the most polarizing items on the table today. What is this least popular Thanksgiving dish? Cranberry sauce. How cranberry sauce became a Thanksgiving staple Cranberry sauce has been part of American cuisine for centuries. Native Americans used cranberries in cooking and medicine, and early European settlers followed suit, incorporating the berries into sauces and preserves. By the 19th century, cranberry sauce became a Thanksgiving tradition, although recipes varied by region. The introduction of canned cranberry sauce in the 20th century made it even more popular, cementing its spot as an expected accompaniment for Thanksgiving turkey on tables across the country. Those who do enjoy cranberry sauce probably have a strong opinion about what form is acceptable. Some people prefer canned cranberry sauce for its nostalgic jiggle, while others insist that fresh, homemade cranberry sauce is the only way to go. Homemade whole berry sauce is the top choice for many, with its texture and flavor offering something truly special. A 2021 survey by the grocery delivery service Instacart found that cranberry sauce is the least favorite Thanksgiving dish, with 29% of American adults saying they hate it and nearly 50% calling it disgusting. This makes cranberry sauce the most polarizing and the most disliked dish on the Thanksgiving table. Even though it ranks as the least favorite dish, omitting cranberry sauce from the holiday meal is still considered a bit of a Thanksgiving faux pas . Regardless of what kind of cranberry sauce graces the table, its lack of popularity guarantees leftovers. But do not let those leftovers go to waste; there are plenty of creative and delicious ways to use cranberry sauce beyond the Thanksgiving table. Creative uses for leftover cranberry sauce Leftover cranberry sauce? There is no need to despair. Here are some fun, delicious and inventive ways to give those leftovers a new purpose. Cranberry grilled cheese Cranberry sauce is the perfect addition to a grilled cheese sandwich. Layer sharp cheddar or brie cheese, turkey leftovers and a spoonful of cranberry sauce between two slices of sourdough bread. The tart cranberry cuts through the richness of the cheese for a perfectly balanced bite. To feed a crowd, consider making a casserole dish of turkey cranberry sliders with leftover sauce and turkey meat. Cranberry vinaigrette To make a simple salad dressing, grab a mason jar and add a tablespoon of leftover cranberry sauce. Pour in a splash of white balsamic vinegar and an equal portion of olive oil. Add pinches of fresh herbs, salt and pepper. Secure the lid, shake well and drizzle the zesty cranberry vinaigrette over an autumn salad with lettuce, gorgonzola cheese, pecans and dried cranberries. Cranberry BBQ sauce For an easy homemade barbecue sauce, mix leftover cranberry sauce with ketchup or chili sauce, a dash of hot sauce or Worcestershire sauce, and a bit of brown sugar. The result is a tangy barbecue sauce that pairs beautifully with cocktail meatballs , roasted chicken or pork chops. Guests will never guess that the base of your homemade barbecue sauce was the leftover cranberry sauce from Thanksgiving. Cranberry yogurt parfait For a quick breakfast or snack, layer cranberry sauce with vanilla Greek yogurt and granola for a simple yet elegant autumn parfait. The sweetness of the granola and the tanginess of the cranberry sauce make for a great flavor balance. For bonus points, add a drizzle of maple syrup and pecans. Cocktail mixer Yes, cranberry sauce can be used in cocktails. To make a festive drink, shake a generous spoonful of cranberry sauce with vodka, a splash of orange juice and a squeeze of simple syrup. Add ice and a fresh rosemary sprig, and the result is a tart, refreshing cocktail perfect for the holiday season. While it continues to be viewed as a traditional holiday dish by most Americans, an emerging trend shows chefs, food bloggers and home cooks finding new ways to incorporate cranberry sauce into various recipes throughout the year. Cranberry sauce may never steal the spotlight during Thanksgiving dinner, where traditional dishes like mashed potatoes, buttery rolls and pies often take center stage. However, its creative uses can elevate it as a standout ingredient in the days that follow. As Thanksgiving cleanup commences and a bowl of leftover sauce remains, there is no need to worry.
