Additionally, over 25 police officers suffered injuries in the melee. Rioters also torched several vehicles belonging to police officials, including those of Chandausi CO and other officers. The mob used women and children, some as young as 12-14 years old, as human shields during the violence. DIG Moradabad Range Muniraj G confirmed that officers, including an SDM, were injured in the violence. The police had to resort to tear gas and baton charges to disperse the mob. DIG Muniraj clarified that the police did not use lethal weapons and reiterated that the deaths were caused by firing from the rioters. Security forces conduct flag march Senior officials, including the Moradabad Divisional Commissioner, DIG, and Bareilly ADG, are currently stationed in Sambhal to oversee the situation.
