They’re one of the lesser known teams representing Australia, but potentially the most inspiring, made up of eight individuals experiencing homelessness from across the nation. The Street Socceroos compete in the Homeless World Cup, a tournament that sees those sleeping rough wear their country’s colours proudly, shining a light on homelessness. While some are desperate to lift the trophy, for others it’s simply about experiencing an event “like no other” in the hopes it can inspire them to make positive change. This year’s Australian team was made up of eight individuals — Faz, Ibrahim, Abdalla, Faisal, Ron, Malika, Sara and Michael — who travelled to Seoul in South Korea in October. They were picked from the 30 programs across Australia, with around 500 people participating in some lighthearted football that invites people of all ages, backgrounds and situations. Street Socceroos head coach, George Halkias, played a major role in the program’s inception 20 years ago. “We started as a pilot in 2004. We sent our first team ever to Edinburgh in 2005 and then in 2007 we were lucky to get federal government funding to expand across the country,” Halkias said to foxsports.com.au. “So it’s been a sort of long journey to you know from something so small to a network of programs around the country and also participating in that event annually which is pretty special. “It’s been a great sort of team effort by the organisation to grow so exponentially in those two decades.” The Homeless World Cup began in Graz, Austria way back in 2003, and Halkias explained there’s around 60 to 70 thousand individuals involved in similar football programs across the globe. The coach, who has a background in football and psychology, explained that from the Australian system, players from vast walks of life are selected. “So there’s a network of almost 30 programs across Australia... and there’s 400 to 500 people participating each week,” he said. “So we’re really just working with players to make better lifestyle choices. That’s the aim but they also have a great love of sport. “Our participants are aged 16 and up and all genders and yeah, picking a team of eight is not easy. “I also try to make it representative of the different types of people that come to our program. So that’s people who are experiencing homelessness in some form, mental illness disability, long term unemployment. “Some have sought refuge in our country and have been displaced. So we get nominations from all around the country from their local coaches.” Michael, one of this year’s team members, had never played a sport with a round ball before becoming involved in the football community. “Michael is an indigenous man in his 40s who I guess would have experienced homelessness, racism, just a challenging youth,” Halkias said. “That manifested also in homelessness and substance abuse in recent times. He actually slept rough as well on the pitch which we train every week. “But with a range of different community supports he’s been able to get secure housing, and turn up weekly to his program. He sells the Big Issue magazine on the streets of Adelaide. “That’s his way of earning an extra income and he’s been able to face his addiction. He was new to the sport but he wore the green and gold proudly and improved his skills. Malika, meanwhile, got her chance to represent Australia after arriving in the country only “a few years ago” from Afghanistan. “Displaced and I guess homeless because of violence in her homeland,” Halkias explained. “She hadn’t played the game before and got that opportunity in Victoria, she started in our weekly women’s programs in the south east and built her skills and her confidence. “And her interpersonal skills, and that’s the mix of people that we get in our programs which is pretty special.” Australia’s team was littered with players of mixed abilities, but for Halkias, football simply becomes a “constant they can rely on”, with their ability an afterthought to individual growth. “It’s an event like no other, where people come together and compete, go hard when they’re on the pitch, but off the pitch they’ve got to know each other,” Halkias said. So how did they go in South Korea? The tournament began with all teams on a level playing field. Then, after the first handful of games, each nation was given match-ups that would provide a fair contest with teams facing off with equal skill levels. The Street Socceroos came up against footballing heavyweight Brazil, whilst also facing Denmark, Scotland and Ireland. Then their wins came against Cambodia, Sweden and Zimbabwe, being awarded a FIFPRO Fair Play Award on the first day of the competition for their efforts. And it was a hugely positive experience for our representatives, with Halkias explaining: “They get so much support from the crowd over there, other people, their families, their local communities. I think it’s important they realise that people don’t judge them. “Some have made a few mistakes, or copped some kicks in the shins so to speak, but they can overcome them. There’s a lot of people out there to support them as well. “The experience and understanding, it gives them a huge boost... and hope, sometimes when it’s not going your way, things can look forlorn. “So players really have that spring in their step when they come back and then they can start to look forward, start to try new things and build that self esteem.” As for the overall goal of the tournament, it’s to “improve their health and wellbeing, secure housing and make good healthy lifestyle choices”. But for Halkias, one of the most important things for those sleeping rough is to “feel part of the community” they’re living in and to “start contributing”. “Because they’ve shown that when they get an opportunity like this one, they can prove themselves,” Halkias added. Post tournament, those involved sit down and set personal goals to spark an “upward trajectory”. Opportunities for work come in the form of speaking gigs, educating schools and companies about homelessness. Others, like Michael, sell The Big Issue magazine to earn an income, but overall players “move forward in a whole host of ways” according to Halkias. “They get this shot of self esteem and confidence, and we can facilitate some direction to that but it’s ultimately up to them to use that and be empowered by that,” Halkias said. “We also know that overcoming addiction and changing your life takes quite a bit of work. “Sometimes it’s backwards and forwards, but we just try and look at the individual, look at what their strengths are and work towards new goals for them. “Because they’ve shown that when you get the right support, there’s a whole heap of things that they can do... they’ve got the potential to achieve great things as well. “When you wear the green and gold, and you overcome the challenges they have, I think it gives them a huge boost and a level of resilience they can use for the rest of their lives.” Meanwhile, Australia are putting in a bid to host the event in 2026, alongside the Asian Cup and the Olympics. Halkias was involved in the 2008 edition, which was played in Melbourne and said “I can tell you first hand, Australians can get right behind it”. The Big Issue are under no illusions it’s going to be a tough task to get the bid over the line. But should it be played in Australia, it’s sure to spark a conversation. “It’s an event that can motivate and inspire us, cheer us up. Sometimes, life can be a bit serious and bloomy but I think this is uplifting,” Halkias said. “But it can also get us talking about a whole range of things from being more physically active, having more respect for women and gender equality, the importance of support for mental illness and disability. “So it can also have an element of, you know, addressing some social issues. But I think more importantly, it’s a great event that brings people from all over the world. I think the whole community get behind it.”

I wouldn’t consider myself the type who has ever cared much about the chair I sit in daily for work. That’s probably a bad thing, since well, I sit in the thing for hours and hours each week at this little desk to talk through the important things happening in the Android space. I’ve been through “gaming” chairs that ended up hurting my lower back, sat in tall drafting chairs from IKEA that offer little support, etc. None of them mattered that much, but they’ve helped me make it this far without many bodily issues. Flexispot, a company specializing in ergonomic chairs, standing desks, and all sorts of other office furniture necessities, randomly reached out in recent weeks to see I’d be interested in checking out of one of their chairs. As an aging office worker who should probably start caring about chairs, I was like, “Yeah, I actually want to check out one of your chairs to see if they can make a difference in daily comfort.” Your boy might work out to keep this body in some sort of shape, but the hours I sit at a desk should be a included in my daily grind to remain mobile late into life. So that happened! They sent me the , a “premium ergo office chair” that caught my eye because of its mesh material, several points of adjustment, and fun Grey color option. I’ve had this thing for several weeks and want to share some thoughts. Yep, this is our Flexispot C7 Pro Max review. As I already admitted, I am no chair expert, but you need to know what I’m sitting here and a specs overview is probably necessary before we talk about whether or not this thing would be worth spending money on. This C7 Pro Max is essentially the top chair from Flexispot. In fact, after scrolling through their list of chairs, this is indeed their most expensive. At full retail, it would run you $800, but because of , it’s down to $549.99. They also have ergonomic chairs as low as $99.99 at the moment, some that basically include a bike you can pedal while you work, and some “futuristic” thing that I kind of now want to sit in. Anyways, the C7 Pro Max is the beast chair with all the newest bells and whistles. This chair has a mesh material on the seat, back, and headrest, which is something I haven’t sat in before. It’s actually “DuPont Bounce Technology Mesh” if you care. The idea is that you sort of just float as you sit, rather than sink into a typical chair pad. It should be easier to clean, is soft, and breathable for the bodily gasses you release all day, every day. It supports up to 330lbs of weight, has a 10-level adjustable backrest (for heights 5’6′′ to 6’11”), seat depth adjustment, mesh lumbar pad (that’s also mesh), adjustable headrest, “5D” armests that swivel and slide back and forth, and a hidden footrest that can be pulled out to let you fully recline. The Flexispot site says it comes with a 10-year warranty of some level. I mean, it kind of is. Again, my chair history isn’t very impressive, so this thing didn’t have to do much to win me over. It certainly has, though. Here’s a list of all that I love so far. As nice as this chair is, it’s certainly not perfect and I do have a handful of complaints. If you have the budget for a higher-end chair, I think most people would find this to be a comfortable option with plenty of flexibility in adjustments for your body and size. I’ve been able to properly target my lower back, get armrests in the perfect position, and sit for hours without a tired butt. This is a nice chair and the mesh is a difference maker to me that would be tough to live without now that I’ve sat on it. Again, this chair can retail for $800, but it seems to be regularly on sale (since I started reviewing it) for around $550. Since it’s the holiday shopping season, that price could fluctuate and you may even be able to find it with further discounts. For example, Flexispot is running a Black Friday sale and it’ll save you at least another $30. You can find that sale .

AP News Summary at 6:44 p.m. ESTSaint Joseph’s storybook run to the NCAA field hockey final culminated in dream finish for Northwestern on Sunday. The second-seeded Wildcats scored three times in the first quarter to blitz St. Joe’s, 5-0, in the NCAA Final, denying the Hawks their first title. Northwestern wasted little time jumping all over the fourth-seeded Hawks, who had upset previously unbeaten North Carolina in the semifinals. American Olympian Maddie Zimmer rifled a sharp-angled drive home 6:25 into the game. She would add a second, off a penalty corner, in the second quarter, her 10th of the season. Zimmer’s shot 11 minutes in was deflected home by Olivia Bent-Cole for a 2-0 lead. Ilse Tromp, who set up Zimmer’s first goal, rocketed home a shot on a penalty corner with 35 seconds left in the opening frame to make it 3-0. The secondary assist on that goal went to Ashley Sessa, the Episcopal Academy All-Delco and American Olympian who triggered the corner. Sessa added a secondary assist on Zimmer’s second goal. Tromp tucked away another corner goal with seven minutes left in a thoroughly dominant first half. Lauren Hunter tallied three assists. Northwestern (22-1) won for the second time in its four consecutive trips to the final. It beat Liberty in 2021, then lost to UNC each of the last two years. The lopsided score ties North Carolina in 2019 (6-1 over Princeton) and Old Dominion in 1990 (5-0 over UNC) for the largest margin of victory in a national field hockey final. Five first-half goals is an NCAA finals record. St. Joe’s (20-4) was outshot 15-3. It had four penalty corners to Northwestern’s seven. Northwestern goalie Annabel Skubisz had to make just one save, off a shot from Celeste Smits.Middle East latest: Israel's Netanyahu announces support for a cease-fire with Hezbollah
It took Rep. John Curtis, R-Utah, just a few weeks to make his mark on the Senate — even before he'd actually take the oath of office to replace retiring Sen. Mitt Romney next year. As Senate colleagues and those close to President-elect Donald Trump saw it, Curtis, a senator-elect, was among the group of at least five Republicans who were planning to vote against former Rep. Matt Gaetz’s nomination to lead the Justice Department. The opposition was enough to sink Gaetz, who withdrew from contention Thursday afternoon — an episode demonstrating to Trump and his allies that red lines still remain in a Republican Party that’s largely bent to his will. It also highlighted Curtis’ role to play in coloring in those lines, as an early indicator of how the Utahn is approaching his new office and a glimpse at the kind of influence he could wield once there. Those who know Curtis caution not to look at his role in Gaetz’s withdrawal too simplistically, through the “pro-Trump” or “anti-Trump” litmus test that’s defined much of Republican politics over the last eight years. Instead, they point to the test Curtis laid out himself during a June primary debate : “When President Trump is doing anything that I consider aligned with Utah values ... I’m wind at his back. But I’m not going to give him an unconditional yes to anything that he wants.” “He is not Mitt Romney and he is not Donald Trump. He’s got his own brand and he was very clear about that in his primary and his general election,” said former GOP Rep. Carlos Curbelo of Florida, an NBC News contributor who overlapped with Curtis in the House. Romney, notably, was the lone Republican who voted to convict Trump at his first Senate impeachment trial in 2020, and he was a vocal critic of Trump on numerous other occasions during the last eight years, six of which Romney spent in the Senate. “With this Gaetz episode, you will see him stand up for what he thinks is right,” Curbelo said. “And other times he’s going to be another reliable Republican vote in the Senate.” Born in Salt Lake City, the 64-year-old Curtis met his wife in high school , graduated from Brigham Young University and served his Mormon mission in Taiwan. He and his wife have six children and 17 grandchildren, with number 18 on the way. After more than a decade of corporate work, Curtis became the chief operating officer of Action Target , a company that manufactures shooting ranges and targets. He briefly served in local Democratic Party leadership and was elected to two terms as mayor of Provo, where he began his now-famous collection of hundreds of pairs of “fun” socks that serve as conversation starters and icebreakers with his constituents. Curtis joined Congress in 2017 in a special election to replace former Rep. Jason Chaffetz, who had earned a reputation as a partisan warrior as the head of the House Oversight Committee that investigated former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton ahead of and during her 2016 presidential bid. As the popular mayor of the largest city in the congressional district, Curtis emerged victorious in a crowded Republican primary field after repelling attacks from his right flank, in part criticizing his decision not to vote for Trump in the 2016 election . In his victory speech that year, Curtis argued that Congress needed “ bridge builders, not bomb throwers ,” adding that “if you’re not white, Mormon or male, I am still here for you.” His allies say that’s the kind of message he took to Washington with him as a congressman. Former Utah Republican Gov. Gary Herbert told NBC News that his relationship with the senator-elect goes back to Herbert’s days on the Utah County Commission, when Curtis chaired the local Democratic Party. Herbert called Curtis a “good, decent person” who is easy to like. And he said he decided to endorse Curtis’ congressional bid because he believed him to be the “right kind of person” to come to Washington. Curtis was “a person who was really wanting to get things done, not just to be on cable news and get headlines that way, throwing out red meat to the faithful, but actually trying to work with all people, including the other side of the aisle, to get things done,” Herbert said. “And as a congressman, he proved that to be his modus operandi, and he was very capable,” Herbert added, pointing to Curtis’ legislative record. Curtis himself has leaned on that legislative record, touting success on bills he got enacted on issues like energy, conservation and protecting Taiwan. As he ran for Senate, he’s touted outside analysis referring to him as one of the more effective members of Congress. Curbelo pointed to Curtis’ decision to launch a Republican-only climate caucus as an example of how the Utahn was able to get dozens of conservative lawmakers to the table on an issue not always associated with the GOP. “When John decided how he was going to get involved on the issue, he said, ‘No, let’s have a caucus that’s only for Republicans, because Republicans need to learn more about this issue and grow on the issue before they can even think about engaging Democrats,’” Curbelo said. “That was a very realistic and mature way of thinking about the issue, and it’s been a success.” His allies note conservative positions on issues like immigration and debt. But like most Republicans in the Trump era, the former and future president has been one of the issues looming largest during his career in Washington. Curtis has praised Trump on issues like tax reform, “deregulation” and his Supreme Court nominations, and he voted against both of the House’s impeachment attempts. But he didn’t join the majority of his GOP House colleagues in their support for a Texas lawsuit to overturn the 2020 election , he voted to establish a bipartisan committee to investigate the 2021 attack on the Capitol and he supported censuring Trump after the Capitol riot. It’s opened Curtis up to scrutiny, again, from the more conservative wing of his party. After deciding to run for Senate after Romney’s retirement announcement, Trump weighed in and endorsed Riverton Mayor Trent Staggs. Framing himself as a “ proven conservative ” with help from well-funded outside groups, Curtis won the Republican Senate primary decisively, earning just shy of 50% support in a crowded primary that also included the former state House speaker and a wealthy businessman. His Senate campaign victory speech harkened back to the one he delivered after winning his first House election, including an emphasis on representing “every Utahn,” and a promise not to be “throwing gas on the social media fire or giving click bait to the cable news.” Instead, Curtis said, he’d be “riding my Ford up and down, back and forth across this state, doing the hard work of legislating and getting things done.” “If you’re not sure where to find me, don’t look by the cameras or the microphones. I’ll be on the Senate floor with my colleagues from both parties,” he added, trying to “solve our difficult problems.” That’s where Curtis found himself as Gaetz began meeting with Republican senators. Curtis didn’t take to social media or run to the microphones to make clear where he stood. But his colleagues and Trump allies felt that they understood his perspective, with Curtis’ likely disapproval of Gaetz leading to his quick withdrawal . Herbert, the former governor, said he exchanged text messages with Curtis in which the senator-elect acknowledged the “challenge” ahead of him with some of Trump’s nominees, and the “important role that the Senate plays under the Constitution of advise and consent.” “Of course, Rep. Gaetz came up in the conversation too as somebody who appears to be — we need to have close scrutiny whether he fits the mold of what we want to have as a leader in the [attorney general’s] office,” Herbert said. “I think I knew at the time of our discussion how he’d come down.” Herbert said the situation is emblematic of the kind of lawmaker Curtis is: supporting Trump when he believes the president-elect is right but willing to disagree, when needed, with “mutual respect and dignity and grace.” “He’s not going to call people names, and he recognizes that his own constituency here in Utah, that’s what they want and expect out of their elected officials,” Herbert said. “Not only has he been popular, he’s going to continue to be popular as a senator, because the people of Utah want somebody with moral values, moral fiber, integrity and respect for opposition, [who tries] to find ways to get things done as opposed to a way to blow things up.” “He recognizes the legacy of what’s gone before him, but he will create the John Curtis legacy for those who come after him,” Herbert continued. “And that’s yet to be written, but I expect it will be a very positive story.”

Whether moving crew to a vessel, rig, television production, sports event or organising a large meeting or event, ATPI’s new first-of-its-kind self-service platform gives travel organisers the autonomy to easily book complex group travel themselves, with the added assurance that a dedicated support team is on hand to assist whenever needed. For marine users, the innovative technology enables unlimited crew members from different airports or routes to be within a single booking when having a shared arrival or departure location. Crew and group travel has traditionally been a cumbersome and time-consuming process, often requiring hours to complete a crew change or group booking, from the initial email sent to ATPI to the final distribution of eTickets. With over 100 years’ experience in complex travel logistics and solutions, ATPI identified a significant gap in the market. Initially developed as a pioneering solution for their Marine and Energy customers, ATPI, quickly realised its broader potential, extending its functionality to cater for all types of ‘crew’ and groups. Designed with operational efficiency and cost saving in mind, CrewHub allows users to easily filter flights to meet their unique requirements, cutting booking time to approximately one minute per crew member (based on 11 travellers from across the world to one location), which is a reduction of up to 60%. This development will speed up, simplify and modernise the booking of crew and group travel, and empower the travel organiser in the process. With CrewHub a travel organiser, crew co-ordinator, or even a captain, can book travel for a crew rotation in a few simple steps. Selecting names, dates, and arrival and departure locations, routes and fares, they can move multiple travellers between any airport or port globally in one transaction with ease. And with an upcoming development, if they need to cancel or amend the booking, they can make changes on CrewHub without needing to call an agent. ATPI developed CrewHub to work alongside its consultants to ensure the perfect blend of technology and human touch that the TMC is known for. Unlike traditional online booking tools, all CrewHub bookings and itineraries are reviewed and validated by an ATPI agent, giving travel bookers reassurance that all details are accurate and compliant with their travel requirements. Additionally, ATPI CrewHub has the functionality to provide users with special fares and booking options tailored specifically to their sectors and business – such as remote locations, flexible scheduling, and specialised requirements for offshore workers and crews – features that are not available through other traditional online booking tools. CrewHub in action The new platform is being trialled with a select group of customers before being rolled out to Marine and Energy businesses in Q1 2025. It will then be launched across all ATPI business lines throughout 2025, including corporate, entertainment, sports and mining, ensuring every trip is perfectly tailored to each traveller and sector’s needs. Jenny Thornton, Director of Technology Solutions at ATPI, said: “CrewHub is a unique solution that allows all sectors to go online, self-serve and bring huge time efficiencies to their travel programme.” “Booking crew and group travel has been reserved for experienced consultants to handle offline for years, due to the complexities of coordinating multiple itineraries, preferences and logistical requirements across various providers and platforms... But not anymore.” “At ATPI, we are committed to continuous innovation that streamlines the entire booking process and redefines industry standards. CrewHub, does exactly that. It’s the first of its kind in the TMC space, and bringing such a dynamic tool to the market will bring efficiencies to all of our customers.” Users of ATPI CrewHub will benefit from: • Efficiency gains – increase workflow productivity for booking co-ordinators, saving both time and money • Multiple start points – streamline the travel process by booking an unlimited amount of travellers from multiple start points across the globe on one booking • Cost saving measures – filter flights to get the lowest global fares or quickest flights instantly, allowing users to get the best flight for their unique requirements • Single sign on – with access to ATPI CrewHub via ATPI TravelHub, users will only need to complete five simple steps to move groups of people from one destination to another • Eprofile integration – readily integrated with EProfile, ATPI CrewHub retrieves all your passenger’s data, ensuring its available on demand Comprising of over 100 offices worldwide, the ATPI Group is a global leader in travel management for corporate, marine and energy businesses, sports and corporate event management, united by the aim to truly connect and deliver what really matters to every single customer. Source: ATPIThe Washington Commanders officially placed kicker Austin Seibert on injured reserve Tuesday two days after he missed two extra points in Washington's 34-26 defeat against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 12. Seibert entered Sunday a perfect 22-for-22 on extra points, but his two misses loomed large on the outcome of Sunday's game. His first miss came after a 17-yard touchdown run by quarterback Jayden Daniels that put the Commanders up 9-3 in the third quarter, and his second one occurred after Daniels connected with top target Terry McLaurin for an 86-yard touchdown with 21 seconds left in regulation when Washington was out of timeouts. Had he made the second, the game likely would have gone into overtime tied 27-27. Had he made all of his extra points, Washington would have led, 28-27, with 21 seconds left. The kicker took full accountability for his mistakes postgame. "I just want to play better for my teammates, you know, definitely don't want to do that," Seibert said, via Yahoo Sports, postgame on Sunday. "Just wasn't striking well, but it means a lot me to be here with these guys, so I just want to put my best foot....moving forward." The second missed extra point included a low snap that his holder briefly bobbled before holding the football upright, but Seibert once again fell on the sword and said that didn't matter. "It didn't make a difference at all. It's on me," he said of the low snap on his final extra point. However, his placement on injured reserve on Tuesday indicates Washington feels otherwise. "I felt fine," he said. "That's why I made the decision to play, and here we are." Cowboys All-Pro wide receiver CeeDee Lamb , who played with Seibert in college at the University of Oklahoma, applauded his former Sooner for his help in Dallas' upset road win. The Cowboys took home the largest upset victory of the 2024 season thus far, emerging as victors as 10.5-point road underdogs thanks to becoming the first team NFL history with two kickoff return touchdowns in the fourth quarter of a game, per CBS Sports Research. "Shoutout (Commanders kicker Austin Seibert ). He went to OU with me. He gave us one," Lamb said .Who is Cooper Koch’s partner, Stuart McClave?
