Qualcomm’s Hidden Potential! Why This Underdog Could Be Your Next Big Win.DALLAS — After a deep postseason that saw Luka Doncic effectively lead all offensive categories into his first NBA Finals run, followed by only a brief summer rest before competing for Slovenia at the Olympics, the wear and tear on the franchise star finally saw the “check engine” light turn on. Dallas received a blow to their 2025 chances on Christmas Day when Doncic left the Western Conference Finals rematch against the Minnesota Timberwolves with a left calf strain, logging just 16 minutes in the loss. Doncic, currently the West’s top scoring guard, will be away from action through January, effectively removing him from MVP consideration and leaving the Mavericks facing a tough test to start the new year. Please embed this tweet: Luka Dončić injury update: Luka sustained a left calf strain on Christmas Day. Dončić will be re-evaluated within one month. Wishing @luka7doncic a speedy recovery. We know you will come back stronger than ever. #MFFL pic.twitter.com/gTBWkfFZNX Luckily for Dallas, this was a scenario that they are better prepared for than at any point in Doncic’s career. The ability to weather a Luka absence remains promising after the front office spent the last couple of years trying to build competitive depth around their star point guard. Their gritty 98-89 win over the Phoenix Suns in their first game without Doncic showed that depth and their resolve. Five Mavs reached double digits and none scored more than 20 as spreading the looks proved fruitful. More importantly, with the tough road ahead, the team showed that they have each other’s backs when they scuffled with Suns’ enforcer Jusef Nurkic. That P.J. Washington and Naji Marshall came to Daniel Gafford’s aid during that tussle might have landed them suspensions , but it also was the type of rallying point that can take them through the upcoming gauntlet as they await their anchor. It won’t be easy, of course, not without Doncic who often acts as the engine that makes the offense go as one the league’s best players. To that point, even with the win over Phoenix, the team is 1-2 since losing Doncic. The good news is they’ve remained competitive, losing by no more than six points in either loss, but their vaunted depth is starting to get challenged. Dereck Lively II, Washington, and Marshall missed Friday night’s loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, leading to increased minutes for end-of-bench players Dwight Powell, Olivier-Maxence Prosper, and Maxi Kleber. Marshall will miss three additional games serving his suspension for punching Nurkic, with Kyrie Irving continuing his ascension to team leader by covering the fines. Irving will also be looked at to shoulder the load of go-to threat in Doncic’s absence, which will make watching his minutes crucial to avoid the wheels falling off come playoff time for the 32-year-old. Irving played 37 minutes against Minnesota and 40 in the Phoenix win before logging 26 shots in just under 40 minutes against the Blazers. His effort in Portland was the highest-scoring night of the season for Irving, attaining 46 points after dropping 39 on Christmas. The absurd career-high shooting percentages continued for Irving, with 62% from two, 41% from deep, and a perfect 100% on free throws. Irving has been superb this season, sandwiched between Doncic and De’Aaron Fox among the Western Conference leaders in scoring for guards. Dallas enters the final week of 2024 with a 20-12 record, fourth in the standings in the West, and two games out of second. They’ve done well to show that their run in the playoffs wasn’t a fluke. Now they’ll have to show that they’ve built a team that can still win games even without Doncic. Keeping their run going in Luka’s absence may not hand Irving his own MVP votes, but he will surely deserve a ninth All-Star appearance, which would be his first as a Maverick. Dallas has one more date with 2024 in a Monday night matchup versus the rudderless Kings. Sacramento is 12th in the West and has just dismissed the reigning NBA Coach of the Year Mike Brown in an effort to keep superstar Fox in the fold. The Mavs will then welcome the new year with a contest against the surprising third-place Houston Rockets in a New Year’s Day duel that begins their January marathon, the first of 16 games in 31 days without Doncic. Do you think the Mavs can survive the upcoming onslaught without their All-NBA star? Share your thoughts with Irvin on Bluesky @irvin.bsky.social .

Kiev’s public opposition to Western calls that it draft 18-year-olds for military service is part of a strategy for winning an election if the conflict with Moscow ends next spring, the Ukrainian outlet Strana has claimed. Washington and its allies have publicly demanded the expansion of the draft to mobilize the 18-to-25 demographic, most recently on Wednesday, when US Secretary of State Antony Blinken made the argument in Brussels. According to sources in the Ukrainian presidency, however, Kiev has opposed this as part of “a strategy to prepare for the scenario of a quick end to the war and the election afterward,” Strana reported on Thursday. One possibility considered by Vladimir Zelensky is a negotiated end to the hostilities shortly after the inauguration of US President Donald Trump on January 20, the outlet said. The other option is that the talks will fail and the fighting will go on “for a long time.” Public statements about lowering the mobilization age “are being made in case the war ends soon and there are elections, so that they can talk about how they saved the gene pool of the nation,” Strana’s source in Kiev said. In case the talks fail and the fighting continues, the mobilization will have to be expanded sooner or later, “and Bankovaya will go for it, finding hundreds of reasons to explain the change in position,” the outlet’s source added, referring to the address of the Ukrainian president’s office. Speaking to Reuters on Wednesday, Blinken argued that Kiev had “hard decisions” to make about further mobilization. Even if Ukraine got all the money and the ammunition it wanted from the West, Blinken said at a NATO press conference, “there have to be people on the front lines,” he said. “Getting younger people into the fight, we think, many of us think, is necessary,” the US diplomat told Reuters. “Right now, 18- to 25-year-olds are not in the fight.” The Russian Defense Ministry has estimated Ukraine’s losses at more than 500,000 since February 2022, though Zelensky has publicly admitted to less than a tenth of that. Kiev has sought to mobilize another 160,000 fighters in the coming months, to replenish depleted frontline units, as Russian forces gain ground.
Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, has expressed concerns about MacKenzie Scott's charitable donations, adding to the growing debate over billionaire philanthropy and its impact on society. In a recent social media exchange, Musk voiced his unease about Ms Scott's philanthropic activities, specifically her massive donations totalling $19 billion over the past five years. Notably, MacKenzie Scott is the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. While some have praised her generosity, others, like Musk, have raised questions about the potential influence of concentrated wealth on societal norms and public policy. Responding to a post by author John LeFevre, Musk simply wrote, "Concerning." The post by Mr LeFevre read, "MacKenzie Scott (Bezos) does not get enough attention for the impact she's having on the state of the world. Her primary causes are EquityTM, sewing racial division and supporting illegal immigration. Her method is “trust-based philanthropy" - giving $16 billion in no strings attached grants to over 2,500 NGOs and nonprofits." See the tweet here: Concerning https://t.co/C11Lnm8XeH — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) December 23, 2024 Musk had previously criticised Ms Scott‘ with a now-deleted social media post, suggesting that "super-rich ex-wives who hate their former spouse" could potentially contribute to the decline of Western civilization. The comment was widely seen as a thinly veiled reference to MacKenzie Scott. Shortly after Musk's comment, Ms Scott announced an additional $640 million in donations to 361 organizations, further solidifying her commitment to philanthropy. Notably, Ms Scott has become one of America's most prolific philanthropists. Through her organization, Yield Giving, she has donated over $19 billion to more than 2,450 nonprofits since 2019. Ms Scott's philanthropic efforts have focused on supporting organizations that promote equity, social justice, and LGBTQ+ rights. As of June 2024, Ms Scott's net worth stands at $36.1 billion, with a 4% stake in Amazon. Her philanthropic approach has been praised by many, including Melinda French Gates, who has publicly backed Scott's rapid-giving approach. Dr. Francis Toromade: Celebrating An Award-Winning AgripreneurNoneThe illegal alien charged with burning a woman alive on a New York City subway says he “doesn’t know what happened” while suggesting he may have been drunk at the time of the fatal attack, according to prosecutors. Sebastian Zapeta-Calil, a 33-year-old illegal alien from Guatemala, was arrested last week and charged with first- and second-degree murder after having been captured on subway surveillance footage allegedly setting a woman on fire on the F train’s Stillwell Avenue-Coney Island stop. The woman, who died as a result of the fire, has yet to be identified by the New York City Police Department (NYPD) because her burns were so severe. According to prosecutors, Zapeta-Calil told police he “drinks a lot of liquor” and “doesn’t know what happened” at the time of the fatal attack. Zapeta-Calil had reportedly been living in a Brooklyn homeless shelter frequented by men with substance abuse issues. Prosecutors said that while the woman was on fire, seemingly standing in a state of paralysis, Zapeta-Calil watched her burn alive and even, at one point, got up to fan the flames. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials have confirmed that Zapeta-Calil is an illegal alien who is among millions of so-called “got-aways” living in the United States after having successfully crossed the southern border without being detected. According to ICE officials, Zapeta-Calil first crossed the border on June 1, 2018, near Sonoita, Arizona. He was given an order of expedited removal and deported to his native Guatemala six days after crossing. Subsequently, on an unknown date at an unknown location, Zapeta-Calil crossed the border without being detected by Border Patrol agents and ultimately made his way to New York City, which has a strict sanctuary jurisdiction policy that vows not to cooperate with ICE agents. Zapeta-Calil is being held without bail. His next court appearance is Friday. John Binder is a reporter for Breitbart News. Email him at jbinder@breitbart.com. Follow him on Twitter here .

QUEBEC CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec 19, 2024-- H 2 O Innovation Inc. (“H 2 O Innovation” or the “Corporation”) is proud to announce the award of several capital equipment projects to its Water Technologies & Services (WTS) business line. This is the result of the strong work of our team and commitment towards delivering top of the class solutions to our clients. The Corporation is happy to announce that after having secured and performed the engineering portion of the work, it is now under contract for the fabrication and supply of its largest wastewater treatment facility in Canada. The Corporation will provide a 67,000 m 3 /day (17.7 MGD) 6-train ultrafiltration facility for the City of Innisfil, Ontario for the treatment of secondary effluent to minimize the discharge of phosphorous into Lake Simcoe. H 2 O Innovation had provided a 38,000 m 3 /day (10.04 MGD) drinking water facility to the City of Innisfil back in 2017. Another project is located in the Province of Quebec, Canada. The Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach is implementing a major upgrade to their drinking water facility. The Corporation provided the initial phase back in 2007 and has been providing maintenance and operation services since the original plant start-up. The expansion will include the addition of a second nanofiltration train, along with the associated pre and post treatment unit operations, to provide a total capacity of 1,100 m 3 /day (0.29 MGD). The southwestern part of Ontario, Canada, is also seeing the addition of a project. A new municipal wastewater treatment facility for a rapidly growing community will be implemented. The system will be a three train membrane bioreactor (MBR) using an enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) process to treat up to 886 m3/day (0.23 MDG). In an innovative delivery model, H 2 O Innovation will be supplying the biological and membrane tanks along with prefabricated buildings with all industrial mechanical equipment pre-installed, plumbed and wired to minimize on site installation and overall project cost as well as shorten the overall schedule. In Cheltenham, Maryland, a packaged membrane bioreactor (MBR) wastewater treatment system with the Maryland Environmental Service (MES) was confirmed. The system is designed to meet very stringent nutrient limits on the effluent for both nitrogen and phosphorus. A ceramic-based membrane solution was selected and will be implemented to treat the phase 1 flow of 11,500 m3/day (3.04 MGD). Finally, a new project in the United States will see the Corporation provide its third facility to a battery recycling company. The new 3-train, 4,900 m3/day (1.29 MGD) reverse osmosis (RO) project will complement the existing ones and is part of a wider partnership where the Corporation is also renting one of its mobile ultrafiltration-based FlexBox unit to this same client. “I am incredibly proud of our team for their relentless pursuit of excellence. Securing these projects is a significant milestone for us, reflecting our collective effort to innovate and lead in our industry.
