MANCHESTER, England -- When does a blip become a crisis? Manchester City 's losing run went from four games to five against Tottenham Hotspur , who won 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium in a blistering display of counter-attacking football. With players back from injury and doubts about manager Pep Guardiola's future put to bed with a new contract, the international break was supposed to be something of a reset for City. Instead, Spurs exposed the champions' defensive vulnerability -- thanks in large part to a majestic performance from Dejan Kulusevski -- while Erling Haaland had an off day at the other end. It's too early to write off Guardiola's team in a title race that hasn't even started, but the Catalan coach is now further into uncharted territory. They're not quite the records he's used to setting. "When you lose 4-0, there is nothing to say but to congratulate Tottenham," said Guardiola. "We are a bit fragile right now, that is obvious. We struggled to score goals and after when they arrived they scored. We are playing a little bit in our thoughts, a little bit of negativity but this is normal." At first, everything seemed right in City's world. The home fans gave Rodri a standing ovation as he showed off his Ballon d'Or for the first time. And as kickoff approached, they began to sing in appreciation of Guardiola, who signed his new two-year deal on Thursday . For 10 minutes, City were dominant. Haaland had two golden chances to score and it felt like only a matter of time before the Spurs goal would be breached and the floodgates would open. But maybe this isn't the same team. Maybe it's unfair to expect them to be with Rodri -- the lynchpin in midfield -- sat in the stands rather than on the pitch. With everyone expecting an imminent Spurs collapse, it was performed, instead, by City. There were nearly 15 minutes on the clock before the visitors had control of the ball long enough to think about venturing forward. When they did, it was executed with pace and precision. Kulusevski might never hit a better pass than the one which James Maddison guided in with a close-range volley to score his first of the night on his 28th birthday. Son Heung-Min forced a fantastic full-stretch save from Ederson and then gave the birthday boy his gift with a clever reverse pass to set up Maddison's second in seven minutes. In the pouring Manchester rain, Guardiola took off his coat as if to send a message to his players that it was time to roll up their sleeves. In January 2023, Spurs went 2-0 up at the Etihad before City roared back to win 4-2 . There was no response this time. Pedro Porro scored a third just after half-time and substitute Brennan Johnson added a fourth in injury time to put the exclamation point on a resounding victory. It was City's first defeat at the Etihad for more than two years and their largest home defeat in the league since losing 5-1 to Arsenal in February 2003. "You don't come to a place like this thinking it's going to be as convincing as it was for us," said manager Ange Postecoglou, who was without first-choice centre-back pairing Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero . "City test you in every way. We got to a really strong level today. Credit to the lads because I thought they were outstanding. We knew we'd have to weather the storm which we did. It's significant because they've got an unbelievable record at home." For the first time in a long time, Guardiola has issues to solve. Without Rodri and injured understudy Mateo Kovacic , City's midfield of Ilkay Gündogan , Rico Lewis and Bernardo Silva were trampled into the floor by Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr . Gündogan was particularly poor. He simply couldn't keep up with the speed of the Spurs' attacks, although he wasn't alone in that. Kyle Walker has looked a shadow of himself this season and he won't want to watch a reply of Timo Werner flying past him to set up the fourth goal. City have now conceded 14 goals in their last five games and it would have been worse if Ederson had not made three good saves. In six home league games so far this season, City have conceded the first goal in four. Guardiola will hope that Rúben Dias -- who has missed the last five games through injury -- can return soon, but there was a further blow when John Stones , starting a Premier League game for the first time in more than a month, was forced off at half-time. City have a chance to break their losing run against Feyenoord in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. Next up in the league is a daunting trip to Anfield on Sunday. "It's a great game to turn it around, to take three points off the team that's sat above you," said Walker. "But we can't go out there and do a performance like that [against Tottenham], because we're going to get walked over there." "We have to break the results because the victories help us to be more positive and confident and we have to do it," Guardiola added. "We cannot run away, we have to face it and try to make the next game." After a bruising run, Liverpool at Anfield offers the chance to prove the doubters wrong. Or, possibly, cast City further into the mire.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — New York Jets running back Breece Hall could play Sunday at Jacksonville after missing a game with a knee injury. Hall has been dealing with a hyperextension and injured MCL in his left knee that sidelined him last Sunday at Miami. But he was a full participant at practice Friday after sitting out Wednesday and Thursday. Hall was officially listed as questionable on the team's final injury report. “He looks good right now,” interim coach Jeff Ulbrich said. “So it’s promising.” Hall leads the Jets with 692 yards rushing and four touchdown runs, and he also has 401 yards receiving and two scores on 46 catches. A pair of rookies helped New York offset Hall's absence last weekend, with Braelon Allen rushing for 43 yards on 11 carries, and Isaiah Davis getting 40 yards on 10 attempts and scoring his first rushing touchdown. “We’re hopeful and we’ll see how it goes,” Ulbrich said of Hall. The Jets will get star cornerback Sauce Gardner back after he missed a game with a hamstring injury, but New York's secondary appears likely to be without cornerback D.J. Reed because of a groin injury. Reed was listed as doubtful after he didn't practice Thursday or Friday. “It’s been something that’s kind of lingered here and there,” Ulbrich said. “It’s gotten aggravated and then it went away, and then it got aggravated again. So, it’s just dealing with that.” Backup Brandin Echols is out with a shoulder injury, so veteran Isaiah Oliver or rookie Qwan'tez Stiggers could get the start opposite Gardner if Reed can't play. Kendall Sheffield also could be elevated from the practice squad for the second game in a row. Ulbrich said kick returner Kene Nwangwu will be placed on injured reserve after breaking a hand last weekend at Miami. The injury came a week after he was selected the AFC special teams player of the week in his Jets debut, during which he returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown and forced a fumble in a loss to Seattle. “To put him out there with a broken hand, just thought it’d be counterproductive for him and for us as a team, so it unfortunately cuts the season short and what a bright light he was,” Ulbrich said. “What an amazing future I think he has in this league. With saying that, he’s already been a really good player for quite a while, so (it's) unfortunate, but he’ll be back.” Offensive lineman Xavier Newman (groin) is doubtful, while right guard Alijah Vera-Tucker (ankle) and RT Morgan Moses (wrist) are questionable. But fans on social media have insinuated that she’s playing with the idea of changing her last name to distance herself from her husband. , “lemme hear y’all say UH OH.” Despite the shock from fans, the theory that the pop star dropped her husband’s last name has received some pushback, with some claiming that Forbes has always referred to the singer as “Beyoncé Knowles.” , “Forbes has always had Beyoncé listed as “Beyoncé Knowles” and then included a photo of a story from a year ago. Queen Bey also made news earlier this week after she appeared to show off an “upgraded” engagement ring during the premiere of “ ” on Monday. Some fans felt that the timing of the singer’s new jewelry was interesting, and concluded that Hov must have gifted his wife the ring to pay for the turmoil he’s put their family through following the recent sexual assault allegations against . However, that rumor has been proven false, since social media star Julia Chafé pointed out that the “Levi Jeans” star has been wearing this “upgraded” ring since September around Paris Fashion Week, months before the allegations were made against Hov.
Minnesota Wild star forward Kirill Kaprizov did not play in Saturday's road game against the Calgary Flames due to a lower-body injury. Kaprizov, who entered Saturday tied with Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon for the NHL lead with 34 points, was on the receiving end of a knee-on-knee collision with the Edmonton Oilers' Drake Caggiula in Thursday's game. Kaprizov finished the game but did not practice on Friday. "I thought it was a knee-on-knee hit," Minnesota coach John Hynes said following his team's 5-3 road victory over the Oilers. "Thankfully he came back and he looked good. Obviously, you don't want to see those types of hits in the game." Kaprizov entered Saturday riding a franchise-record 11-game road point streak, with 24 points (eight goals, 16 assists). He also came in with a seven-game point streak, posting 13 points (six goals, seven assists). The Wild traveled to Calgary with the best record in franchise history through 19 games (13-3-3), including an NHL-best 9-1-2 road mark. Minnesota was also without forward Marat Khusnutdinov (lower body) and recalled forward Travis Boyd for Saturday's game. --Field Level Media
The first major transformation in the A-share market is the increasing influence of institutional investors. As more institutional capital flows into the market, the dynamics of trading and investment have changed significantly. Institutional investors often have greater resources and access to information, leading to more sophisticated trading strategies and a potential shift in market sentiment. Individual retail investors, who have traditionally dominated the A-share market, must now adapt to this new reality and reconsider their investment approach.

SYDNEY: India’s Jasprit Bumrah will go down as “one of the greatest fast bowlers to play the game”, Australia’s Travis Head said on Monday, ahead of the day-night Test in Adelaide this week. Stand-in skipper Bumrah took eight wickets in the first Test to help the visitors to a crushing 295-run victory last week in Perth. The 30-year-old is set to hand the captaincy back to regular skipper Rohit Sharma for the second Test starting on Friday. Unburdened by leadership duties, Bumrah could be even more of a threat under lights with the pink ball. “Jasprit is probably going to go down as one of the greatest fast bowlers to play the game,” top-order batsman Head told reporters. “We’re finding that at the moment, how challenging he can be, and it’s nice to play against that. “It’s going to be nice to look back at your career and tell the grandkids that you faced him, so it’s not a bad series to play in with him. “But hopefully I only have to face (him) a few more times. He’s been challenging.” Head top-scored for Australia with 89 in the hosts’ second innings in Perth, and he will be on familiar territory on his home turf at the Adelaide Oval. But for all that, the 30-year-old said: “It’s just another week — go and prepare and go in fresh and hopefully I can roll out the same sort of performances. “It’s going to be a challenge but I feel like I’m moving well, feel like I’m in a good space and go out and try and execute that.” He said that the hosts, who came into the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series as favorites, had quickly got over the shock of their heavy loss in the opener. “The writing was on the wall pretty quickly in that Test match that we were pushing it uphill,” he said. “So for me it was reflecting in-game what we could have done better by the time that result had come. “(It’s) a pretty easy one as such to move on and get over, and start talking about what’s coming.” Meanwhile, Australia will draw confidence from their exceptional record in day-night tests and expect to rebound from their Perth setback when they face India in the second match in Adelaide, wicketkeeper Alex Carey has said. Australia have won 11 of their 12 pink ball tests and all seven they have played at Adelaide Oval, including a victory over India in the last home test series when they skittled Virat Kohli’s team for 36. “We’re excited. We should take a lot - and we do take a lot of confidence out of our record from pink ball cricket,” Carey told reporters on Tuesday. “It doesn’t mean we’ll have the success but I think our methods, our style of play and the experience we have with this group, we’ll bounce back from Perth. “I’m sure India will be confident from the last game as well, so it will be a great contest,” added Carey. India scored a resounding 295-run victory at Perth Stadium in the opening test of the five-match series. Australia’s winning streak in day-night tests was ended in January by the West Indies, who won a cliffhanger by eight runs at the Gabba. Australia head into the second test starting on Friday with some concern over the fitness of all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who pulled up sore after bowling 17 overs in Perth. Australian media have speculated that Marsh may be retained as a specialist batsman alone, though selectors brought in another all-rounder into the squad in uncapped Beau Webster. Carey said he thought Marsh would be fit to play and had not heard otherwise from the team. “His batting has been fantastic since he’s come back into this team and his bowling again — he took some handy wickets,” he said. “Hopefully he is right and ready to go.” — AgenciesThe team that President-elect Donald Trump has selected to lead federal health agencies in his second administration includes a retired congressman, a surgeon and a former talk-show host. All could play pivotal roles in fulfilling a political agenda that could change how the government goes about safeguarding Americans' health — from health care and medicines to food safety and science research. In line to lead the Department of Health and Human Services secretary is environmental lawyer and anti-vaccine organizer Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Trump's choices don't have experience running large bureaucratic agencies, but they know how to talk about health on TV. People are also reading... Centers for Medicare and Medicaid pick Dr. Mehmet Oz hosted a talk show for 13 years and is a well-known wellness and lifestyle influencer. The pick for the Food and Drug Administration, Dr. Marty Makary, and for surgeon general, Dr. Janette Nesheiwat, are frequent Fox News contributors. Many on the list were critical of COVID-19 measures like masking and booster vaccinations for young people. Some of them have ties to Florida like many of Trump's other Cabinet nominees: Dave Weldon, the pick for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, represented the state in Congress for 14 years and is affiliated with a medical group on the state's Atlantic coast. Nesheiwat's brother-in-law is Rep. Mike Waltz, R-Fla., tapped by Trump as national security adviser. Here's a look at the nominees' potential role in carrying out what Kennedy says is the task to “reorganize” agencies, which have an overall $1.7 trillion budget, employ 80,000 scientists, researchers, doctors and other officials, and effect Americans' daily lives: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention The Atlanta-based CDC, with a $9.2 billion core budget, is charged with protecting Americans from disease outbreaks and other public health threats. Kennedy has long attacked vaccines and criticized the CDC, repeatedly alleging corruption at the agency. He said on a 2023 podcast that there is "no vaccine that is safe and effective,” and urged people to resist the CDC's guidelines about if and when kids should get vaccinated. The World Health Organization estimates that vaccines have saved more than 150 million lives over the past 50 years, and that 100 million of them were infants. Decades ago, Kennedy found common ground with Weldon, 71, who served in the Army and worked as an internal medicine doctor before he represented a central Florida congressional district from 1995 to 2009. Starting in the early 2000s, Weldon had a prominent part in a debate about whether there was a relationship between a vaccine preservative called thimerosal and autism. He was a founding member of the Congressional Autism Caucus and tried to ban thimerosal from all vaccines. Kennedy, then a senior attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council, believed there was a tie between thimerosal and autism and also charged that the government hid documents showing the danger. Since 2001, all vaccines manufactured for the U.S. market and routinely recommended for children 6 years or younger have contained no thimerosal or only trace amounts, with the exception of inactivated influenza vaccine. Meanwhile, study after study after study found no evidence that thimerosal caused autism. Weldon's congressional voting record suggests he may go along with Republican efforts to downsize the CDC, including to eliminate the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, which works on topics like drownings, drug overdoses and shooting deaths. Weldon also voted to ban federal funding for needle-exchange programs as an approach to reduce overdoses, and the National Rifle Association gave him an “A” rating for his pro-gun rights voting record. Food and Drug Administration Kennedy is extremely critical of the FDA, which has 18,000 employees and is responsible for the safety and effectiveness of prescription drugs, vaccines and other medical products, as well as overseeing cosmetics, electronic cigarettes and most foods. Makary, Trump’s pick to run the FDA, is closely aligned with Kennedy on several topics. The professor at Johns Hopkins University who is a trained surgeon and cancer specialist has decried the overprescribing of drugs, the use of pesticides on foods and the undue influence of pharmaceutical and insurance companies over doctors and government regulators. Kennedy has suggested he'll clear out “entire” FDA departments and also recently threatened to fire FDA employees for “aggressive suppression” of a host of unsubstantiated products and therapies, including stem cells, raw milk, psychedelics and discredited COVID-era treatments like ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine. Makary's contrarian views during the COVID-19 pandemic included questioning the need for masking and giving young kids COVID-19 vaccine boosters. But anything Makary and Kennedy might want to do when it comes to unwinding FDA regulations or revoking long-standing vaccine and drug approvals would be challenging. The agency has lengthy requirements for removing medicines from the market, which are based on federal laws passed by Congress. With a $1.1 trillion budget and more than 6,000 employees, Oz has a massive agency to run if confirmed — and an agency that Kennedy hasn't talked about much when it comes to his plans. While Trump tried to scrap the Affordable Care Act in his first term, Kennedy has not taken aim at it yet. But he has been critical of Medicaid and Medicare for covering expensive weight-loss drugs — though they're not widely covered by either. Trump said during his campaign that he would protect Medicare, which provides insurance for older Americans. Oz has endorsed expanding Medicare Advantage — a privately run version of Medicare that is popular but also a source of widespread fraud — in an AARP questionnaire during his failed 2022 bid for a U.S. Senate seat in Pennsylvania and in a 2020 Forbes op-ed with a former Kaiser Permanente CEO. Oz also said in a Washington Examiner op-ed with three co-writers that aging healthier and living longer could help fix the U.S. budget deficit because people would work longer and add more to the gross domestic product. Neither Trump nor Kennedy have said much about Medicaid, the insurance program for low-income Americans. Trump's first administration reshaped the program by allowing states to introduce work requirements for recipients. Surgeon general Kennedy doesn't appear to have said much publicly about what he'd like to see from surgeon general position, which is the nation's top doctor and oversees 6,000 U.S. Public Health Service Corps members. The surgeon general has little administrative power, but can be an influential government spokesperson on what counts as a public health danger and what to do about it — suggesting things like warning labels for products and issuing advisories. The current surgeon general, Vivek Murthy, declared gun violence as a public health crisis in June. Trump's pick, Nesheiwat, is employed as a New York City medical director with CityMD, a group of urgent care facilities in the New York and New Jersey area, and has been at City MD for 12 years. She also has appeared on Fox News and other TV shows, authored a book on the “transformative power of prayer” in her medical career and endorses a brand of vitamin supplements. She encouraged COVID-19 vaccines during the pandemic, calling them “a gift from God” in a February 2021 Fox News op-ed, as well as anti-viral pills like Paxlovid. In a 2019 Q&A with the Women in Medicine Legacy Foundation, Nesheiwat said she is a “firm believer in preventive medicine” and “can give a dissertation on hand-washing alone.” National Institutes of Health As of Saturday, Trump had not yet named his choice to lead the National Institutes of Health, which funds medical research through grants to researchers across the nation and conducts its own research. It has a $48 billion budget. Kennedy has said he'd pause drug development and infectious disease research to shift the focus to chronic diseases. He'd like to keep NIH funding from researchers with conflicts of interest, and criticized the agency in 2017 for what he said was not doing enough research into the role of vaccines in autism — an idea that has long been debunked. TOMS RIVER, N.J. (AP) — Gov. Phil Murphy has asked the Biden administration to put more resources into an investigation of mysterious drone sightings that have been reported in New Jersey and nearby states. Murphy, a Democrat, made the request in a letter Thursday, noting that state and local law enforcement remain “hamstrung” by existing laws and policies in their efforts to successfully counteract any nefarious activity of unmanned aircraft. He posted a copy of the letter on the social media platform X . “This leaves action surrounding the (drones) squarely on the shoulders of the federal government,” Murphy said. “More federal resources are needed to understand what is behind this activity.” Murphy and other officials have repeatedly stressed that there is no evidence that the aircraft pose a national security or a public safety threat, or have a foreign nexus. The Pentagon also has said they are not U.S. military drones. The drones have drawn intense public concern and curiosity since residents first reported seeing them last month. Assemblywoman Dawn Fantasia said from four to 180 aircraft have been reported to authorities since Nov. 18, appearing from dusk till 11 p.m. The flying objects have been spotted near the Picatinny Arsenal, a U.S. military research and manufacturing facility, and over President-elect Donald Trump’s golf course in Bedminster, but the number of reported sightings has grown greatly since then. Drones were also spotted in Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut and other parts of the Mid-Atlantic region. The FBI, Federal Aviation Administration and other state and federal agencies involved in the investigation have not corroborated any of the reported sightings with electronic detection, and reviews of available images appear to show many of the reported drones are actually manned aircraft. They also say there have been no confirmed sightings in restricted air space. It’s also possible that a single drone has been seen and reported more than once, officials said. Some federal lawmakers have called on the military to “shoot down” the drones. The drones also appear to avoid detection by traditional methods such as helicopter and radio, according to a state lawmaker who was briefed by the Department of Homeland Security. In one case, a medevac helicopter was unable to pick up a seriously injured car accident victim in Branchburg Township in Somerset County late last month due to drones hovering near the planned landing zone, according to NJ.com. The FAA said Thursday that it does not have a report on this incident. Drones are legal in New Jersey for recreational and commercial use but are subject to local and FAA regulations and flight restrictions. Operators must be FAA certified. Witnesses say the drones they think they have seen in New Jersey appear to be larger than those typically used by hobbyists.
