casino game keno LAS VEGAS — Formula 1 on Monday at last said it will expand its grid in 2026 to make room for an American team that is partnered with General Motors. "As the pinnacle of motorsports, F1 demands boundary-pushing innovation and excellence. It's an honor for General Motors and Cadillac to join the world's premier racing series, and we're committed to competing with passion and integrity to elevate the sport for race fans around the world," GM President Mark Reuss said. "This is a global stage for us to demonstrate GM's engineering expertise and technology leadership at an entirely new level." The approval ends years of wrangling that launched a U.S. Justice Department investigation into why Colorado-based Liberty Media, the commercial rights holder of F1, would not approve the team initially started by Michael Andretti. Andretti in September stepped aside from leading his namesake organization, so the 11th team will be called Cadillac F1 and be run by new Andretti Global majority owners Dan Towriss and Mark Walter. The team will use Ferrari engines its first two years until GM has a Cadillac engine built for competition in time for the 2028 season. Towriss is the the CEO and president of Group 1001 and entered motorsports via Andretti's IndyCar team when he signed on financial savings platform Gainbridge as a sponsor. Towriss is now a major part of the motorsports scene with ownership stakes in both Spire Motorsports' NASCAR team and Wayne Taylor Racing's sports car team. Walter is the chief executive of financial services firm Guggenheim Partners and the controlling owner of both the World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers and Premier League club Chelsea. "We're excited to partner with General Motors in bringing a dynamic presence to Formula 1," Towriss said. "Together, we're assembling a world-class team that will embody American innovation and deliver unforgettable moments to race fans around the world." Mario Andretti, the 1978 F1 world champion, will have an ambassador role with Cadillac F1. But his son, Michael, will have no official position with the organization now that he has scaled back his involvement with Andretti Global. "The Cadillac F1 Team is made up of a strong group of people that have worked tirelessly to build an American works team," Michael Andretti posted on social media. "I'm very proud of the hard work they have put in and congratulate all involved on this momentous next step. I will be cheering for you!" The approval has been in works for weeks but was held until after last weekend's Las Vegas Grand Prix to not overshadow the showcase event of the Liberty Media portfolio. Max Verstappen won his fourth consecutive championship in Saturday night's race, the third and final stop in the United States for the top motorsports series in the world. Grid expansion in F1 is both infrequent and often unsuccessful. Four teams were granted entries in 2010 that should have pushed the grid to 13 teams and 26 cars for the first time since 1995. One team never made it to the grid and the other three had vanished by 2017. There is only one American team on the current F1 grid — owned by California businessman Gene Haas — but it is not particularly competitive and does not field American drivers. Andretti's dream was to field a truly American team with American drivers. The fight to add this team has been going on for three-plus years, and F1 initially denied the application despite approval from F1 sanctioning body FIA. The existing 10 teams, who have no voice in the matter, also largely opposed expansion because of the dilution in prize money and the billions of dollars they've already invested in the series. Andretti in 2020 tried and failed to buy the existing Sauber team. From there, he applied for grid expansion and partnered with GM, the top-selling manufacturer in the United States. The inclusion of GM was championed by the FIA and president Mohammed Ben Sulayem, who said Michael Andretti's application was the only one of seven applicants to meet all required criteria to expand F1's current grid. "General Motors is a huge global brand and powerhouse in the OEM world and is working with impressive partners," Ben Sulayem said Monday. "I am fully supportive of the efforts made by the FIA, Formula 1, GM and the team to maintain dialogue and work towards this outcome of an agreement in principle to progress this application." Despite the FIA's acceptance of Andretti and General Motors from the start, F1 wasn't interested in Andretti — but did want GM. At one point, F1 asked GM to find another team to partner with besides Andretti. GM refused and F1 said it would revisit the Andretti application if and when Cadillac had an engine ready to compete. "Formula 1 has maintained a dialogue with General Motors, and its partners at TWG Global, regarding the viability of an entry following the commercial assessment and decision made by Formula 1 in January 2024," F1 said in a statement. "Over the course of this year, they have achieved operational milestones and made clear their commitment to brand the 11th team GM/Cadillac, and that GM will enter as an engine supplier at a later time. Formula 1 is therefore pleased to move forward with this application process." Yet another major shift in the debate over grid expansion occurred earlier this month with the announced resignation of Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei, who was largely believed to be one of the biggest opponents of the Andretti entry. "With Formula 1's continued growth plans in the US, we have always believed that welcoming an impressive US brand like GM/Cadillac to the grid and GM as a future power unit supplier could bring additional value and interest to the sport," Maffei said. "We credit the leadership of General Motors and their partners with significant progress in their readiness to enter Formula 1." Bipartisan push heats up to salvage kids’ privacy bill before new Congress is seated

Two of the globe’s largest chip manufacturers will clash in court this week due to a disagreement over intellectual property . What Happened : Arm Holdings plc 's ARM legal spat with Qualcomm Inc. QCOM commenced Monday, Dec. 16, before a federal jury in Delaware, Bloomberg reported . Recall Qualcomm's $1.4 billion acquisition of NUVIA , a chip startup, in 2021. Just two years earlier, Arm granted licenses to NUVIA — assets Qualcomm eventually inherited. Arm, headquartered in the U.K. and majority-owned by SoftBank Group, claims the Nuvia deal requires renegotiation. It also wants Qualcomm to destroy certain chip designs it received once the deal closed. Qualcomm, in court documents, insists it has its own license agreements with Arm. “Qualcomm has licensed and paid for the same intellectual property that NUVIA licensed under its own separate agreements with ARM,” the statement reads . As per Benzinga Pro , chip ETFs closed in the green Monday: VanEck Semiconductor ETF SMH was up 0.56% Invesco PHLX Semiconductor ETF SOXQ was up 0.49% Columbia Semiconductor and Technology ET SEMI was up 2.75% Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3X Shares ETF SOXL was up 5.88% Why It Matters : The case — Arm v. Qualcomm, 22-cv-01146, US District Court, District of Delaware (Wilmington) — will likely see both CEOs, Arm’s Rene Haas and Qualcomm’s Cristiano Amon , take the stand. This isn't the first time an M&A agreement involving these companies sparked legal challenges. Back in 2020, Nvidia attempted to buy Arm for $40 billion, which threw San Diego-based Qualcomm and other tech companies into a panic. Regulators sank the deal in 2022 when the Federal Trade Commission sued Nvidia to block the merger. Arm also faced substantial regulatory pressure from British authorities. Fast-forward to today, and Arm is now trying to flex its muscles by pulling Qualcomm's license — worth an estimated $1.5 billion. And Qualcomm is not known to give up easily. Recall its past licensing tussle with Apple , settled in April 2019. What’s Next : Analysts predict the companies will eventually settle, probably with Qualcomm paying more to access Arm's tech. The proceedings are anticipated to conclude by Friday, Dec. 20. It’s worth noting that the chips in question power most mainstream devices, and the legal dispute could have wide-ranging repercussions on the tech industry. Sir Keir Starmer was speaking at the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) conference in Estonia where he met leaders of other Baltic states. After signing an energy partnership with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store in Bergen, Sir Keir flew to Estonia where he spoke alongside Mr Store and their Estonian counterpart Kristen Michal. Asked what else could be done to support Ukraine, Sir Keir said: “There is an ever-increasing demand for more capability. That is understandable, and Ukraine needs all the capability that it can get, so I think all of us have put in more capability into Ukraine by way of equipment.” He added: “A lot of money has been raised, funding has been raised, but more is going to be needed.” The Prime Minister’s also discussed making the economic case at home for continued support for Ukraine. Sir Keir said: “Making the case on the significance of Ukraine, making the case, to double down, linking it back to each of our countries – what does it mean for us if Russia succeeds, is a really important question that we have to answer with our people to make it clear why it is that we are so supportive of Ukraine, why it is that we must stand with our allies on this, why it is we must make sure that Nato is put in the strongest position as well. “Now, this is a different world to the world of 10, 20 years ago, to recognise the world that we are living in, there’s a positive case as well to be made. “Defence spending doesn’t sort of sit in a silo over here with no effect on the rest of the economy, no effect on technology. “It has a huge effect on technologies, the cutting edge of technology and change which can then be used in other areas. “It binds countries together. I think all of us have got joint projects on in terms of defence capabilities that bind us together. There’s a huge number of well-paid jobs that are very important to our economy in defence spending as well. “But we have to make that positive case. I don’t personally feel that we can sort of sit back and assume that all of those in our respective countries necessarily accept all of our arguments unless we make them in that positive way, which I do think the argument can and should and must be made. “But the challenge that you put to us is the right challenge, which is it’s very difficult when finances are tight, as they are in all of our countries.” On Tuesday morning the Prime Minister will meet Taavi Madiberk, the founder of Estonian tech start-up manufacturing low-cost air defence missiles, Frankenburg Technologies, which is planning to open a new office in London Specialising in the manufacture of the missiles, the rapidly growing company already collaborates closely with the UK defence industry, sourcing a significant portion of its subsystems locally, including from propulsion specialists Roxel in Worcestershire. The Prime Minister will again attend the JEF summit, joining leaders from the Nordics and Baltics to discuss support for Ukraine, the sustained threat posed by Russia and wider European security. He will then visit British forces serving in the region to deter malign Russian threats.UCF football transfer tracker: Knights prepare for plenty of offseason moves

Starmer to visit troops serving on Russian border in push for Ukraine supportMOSCOW (AP) — Russian police raided several bars and nightclubs across Moscow on Saturday as part of the government’s crackdown on “LGBTQ+ propaganda,” state media reported. Smartphones, laptops and video cameras were seized, while clubgoers had their documents inspected by officers, Russia’s Tass news agency said, citing sources in law enforcement. The raids come exactly a year since Russia’s Supreme Court ruled that the “LGBTQ+ movement” should be banned as an “extremist organization." Its decision followed a decades-long crackdown on LGBTQ+ rights in Russia, where President Vladimir Putin has touted “traditional family values” as a cornerstone of his quarter-century in power. Footage shared on social media appeared to show partygoers being ordered by police to lie on the floor as officers moved through Moscow’s Arma nightclub. The capital’s Mono bar was also targeted, Russian media reported. In a post on Telegram on Saturday, the club’s management didn't directly reference an incident with law enforcement, but wrote, “Friends, we’re so sorry that what happened, happened. They didn’t find anything forbidden. We live in such times, but life must go on.” Police also detained the head of the “Men Travel” tour agency on Saturday under anti-LGBT laws, Tass reported. The news agency said that the 48-year-old was suspected of preparing a trip for “the supporters of nontraditional sexual values” to visit Egypt over Russia’s New Year's holidays. The raids mirror the concerns of Russian activists who warned that Moscow’s designation of the “LGBTQ+ movement” as “extremist” — despite it not being an official entity — could see Russian authorities crack down at will on groups or individuals. Other recent laws have also served to put pressure on those that the Russian government believes aren't in line with the country’s “traditional values.” On Nov. 23, Putin signed into law a bill banning the adoption of Russian children by citizens of countries where gender-affirming care is legal. The Kremlin leader also approved legislation that outlaws the spread of material that encourages people not to have children .Donald Trump has moved on from Matt Gaetz and picked a new contender to endorse for his spot in Congress: Jimmy Patronis, the CFO of Florida. Trump wrote on Truth Social “RUN, JIMMY, RUN!” and endorsed him, despite no official announcement from Patronis. Patronis has said that he was “strongly considering” going for the role of Florida Congressional District 1 in an X post on Nov. 19. “We’ve got an historic opportunity to fight the swamp, end lawfare and return power back into the hands of Americans,” the Republican wrote. After Trump’s preemptive endorsement, Patronis seemed convinced to run. “Put me to work, Mr. President! @realDonaldTrump I am here to serve,” he posted on Nov. 25. The position opened up after Gaetz was nominated for attorney general by the president-elect and resigned from his seat, only to drop out of the running for top prosecutor. “A fourth generation Floridian from the beautiful Panhandle, and owner of an iconic seafood restaurant , Jimmy has been a wonderful friend to me, and to MAGA," Trump wrote in his post endorsing Patronis. The special primary will take place Jan. 28, with the general election occurring on April 1. The Daily Beast Podcast episodes are released every Thursday. A baby gorilla was accidentally killed at a zoo in Canada when it was struck in the head by a door, officials said Thursday. The 2-year-old female gorilla, Eyare, was roaming from room to room when a zookeeper activated the wrong hydraulic door to separate her, according to the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo . The accident left the ape with “traumatic head injuries” and veterinary staff administered CPR. The zookeeper “was immediately removed from the workplace following the incident,” the zoo said. The zoo said it launched an investigation into the incident and “doesn’t take these findings lightly.” All zookeepers will undergo retraining to prevent further accidents. “This tragedy has struck us all in the deepest way imaginable,” said Colleen Baird, director of Animal Care, Health and Welfare, in a statement. “Eyare’s short but impactful life brought so much joy to our community, and she will be deeply missed by all. We will do everything we can to prevent future incidents.” With the holidays around the corner, Flamingo Estate has everything you need to surprise friends and family with the gift of handmade everyday essentials for the home. A pro-Putin, far-right politician won the primary round of Romania ’s presidential election on Sunday after he went viral on social media. Călin Georgescu, 62, had gained minimal support for the majority of his independent presidential bid. Ahead of the electoral primary, however, his eccentric campaign clips on TikTok , including videos of him riding on a horse and practicing martial arts began trending on the app. Georgescu, who supports religious, ultra-conservative views, won 23 percent of the vote on Sunday. He claimed that he spent “zero” money on his campaign and instead put his faith in God. “It’s a TikTok win,” Romanian analyst and historian Ion M. Ionita told the Financial Times . “You don’t need a party. You just need to go viral on social media, and he has gone viral for sure.” Ionita said mainstream parties in the country are struggling to resonate with voters after years of scandals and economic hardship. “Voters are vulnerable to messages that have no connection with reality,” he added. Georgescu’s success reportedly denotes a significant shift in Romanian attitudes toward Russia and is the latest sign of how Trump-style populism is gaining traction in Europe. Rep. Lauren Boebert is the latest politician to launch a Cameo — with videos starting at $250 for a personal message. “Hey, Cameo, it’s your girl from Colorado, Lauren Boebert,” she said in the page’s introductory video. “Whether you or someone you know needs an America First pep talk, if you want to surprise friends or family with a message for a special day, or if you just want to know my thoughts on whatever’s on your mind, Cameo is the place to connect with me.” Boebert’s foray into Cameo comes just days after former Rep. Matt Gaetz also launched a page on the site after withdrawing his name for consideration for attorney general. While Gaetz is charging $500 for a video, fellow disgraced Republican Rep. George Santos, who first started Cameo in 2023, charges $250, like Boebert. The House Ethics Committee notes that representatives can earn up to $31,815 from outside sources. Hulk Hogan hinted at a possible position in Donald Trump ’s incoming administration during a Fox News interview on Saturday. “My president said, ‘You know something, you’d be great to run the President’s Council on Physical Fitness,‘” Hogan told host Brian Kilmeade . The council advises the president on policies related to healthy eating and fitness. The current council is in place until Sept. 30, 2025. Hogan continued, “At the end of the day, when I was in the back at Madison Square Garden after the whole rally, we were talking about Robert Kennedy, I was talking about nutrition, and how many foreign countries won’t even let their people eat the food that we eat here in America.” Trump tapped vaccine skeptic Kennedy to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, a move that has worried health-care groups and experts. “It’s so bad, and it’s poisoned a generation of kids,” Hogan added. “And at the end of the day, we start talking about physical fitness.” Nearly three in five Americans approve of President-elect Donald Trump ’s handling of his transition to the White House , according to a CBS/YouGov poll released Monday. Over half of Americans—55 percent—also said they were “happy” or “satisfied” with Trump’s election victory. Underscoring the poll, however, was a sense of doom and fatigue among the Democratic base: Just 15 percent of Democrats said they feel excited or optimistic as Trump prepares to take office, and only 44 percent said they feel motivated to oppose him. “The bottom line is this: Republicans are very motivated by Donald Trump’s win and, compared to eight years ago, Democrats are just really, really, tired,” said CNN data reporter Harry Enten, as he talked through the poll results on air. “They have just given up.” Enten also noted Trump’s +18 net approval rating, which stands in contrast to the +1 he had after winning the 2016 election. Much improved from 2016, this Trump presidential transition is getting 2 thumbs up from Americans. Trump's net approval rating is up 17 pts (to +18 pts). A majority (53%) are excited/optimistic for Trump's coming term. Trump also seems to have exhausted his Democratic rivals: pic.twitter.com/2dGCT6h5po Department store behemoth Macy’s has suffered an embarrassing faux pas after it was revealed that an accounting employee hid up to $154 million in delivery expenses in a years-long scheme. The employee, who has not been named, has been given the boot but Macy’s has been forced to delay its quarterly results after stumbling across the matter that stems back to 2021, the Wall Street Journal reported . However, mystery surrounds the strange saga because the ex-worker didn’t actually pocket the funds, and Macy’s won’t say how they were busted. “While Macy’s cannot control the actions of every employee, it is worrying that these are intentional accounting errors that go back to 2021,” said Neil Saunders, managing director of research firm GlobalData. Saunders added that it “also raises the question as to the competence of the company’s auditors.” The company’s auditor, KPMG, has refused to comment. Elon Musk had some relatable thoughts on the new “department” of government efficiency he’s been tasked to head with Vivek Ramaswamy . “I still can’t believe DOGE is real,” he wrote on his social media platform X on Sunday night, followed by that emoji where the face is crying from laughter. After Musk powered Donald Trump ’s return to the White House, pouring an estimated $200 million into his campaign, the president-elect announced he and Ramaswamy would lead an outside advisory panel aiming to slash $2 trillion in government spending—a plan that even conservative economists have called a “fantasy.” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Fla.) will lead a new House Oversight Committee working with the DOGE panel—an appointment that some of Taylor Greene’s fellow lawmakers have likened to a punishment, not a reward—and Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) is forming a DOGE Senate Caucus. Critics have pointed out that DOGE has no budget, no offices, no personnel and no long-term mandate, but Musk doesn’t seem to care. “I think it’s actually going to work,” he wrote on X. But I think it’s actually going to work Scouted selects products independently. If you purchase something from our posts, we may earn a small commission. Don’t get me wrong—I’m looking forward to turkey and mashed potatoes next week, but when I saw The Caviar Co . was offering a whopping 40 percent off all caviar and roe this week (including the smallest sizes!), I nearly screamed. The Caviar Co . offers a wide range of roe and caviar species, breeds, and styles (e.g., some with more “pop” and others that are more of a dip or spread) at various price points. Roes start at just $10 an ounce, and caviar at $40 an ounce. Liam Payne had a fear of being locked in rooms that dated back to his One Direction days and may have been trying to escape from his hotel room when he fell from the second-floor balcony to his death, according to TMZ. Former One Direction star Payne, 31, died after the incident in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in October and prosecutors confirmed he was under the influence of alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant. TMZ reports that Payne had escaped from another room via a balcony as recently as mid-September and claims that sources told them the hotel was aware he may try and get out of the room via the balcony. Images obtained by TMZ reportedly capture the moments before Liam was forcefully put into his room. Minutes later, he fell from the balcony. According to a 911 transcript obtained by the site, a hotel employee told a 911 operator: “I don’t know whether his life may be in danger. Hugh Marks will take the reins of the ABC after the former Nine Entertainment chief executive won a global search for the top media role. or signup to continue reading Mr Marks, whose six-year stint at Nine included the broadcaster's merger with the publisher of the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, was well-qualified to lead the ABC's editorial and creative production teams, chair Kim Williams said on Tuesday. "Hugh is a highly successful media executive, with more than 30 years' experience in Australia and internationally in content production, programming, and distribution, working across all platforms from television, radio, and online publishing and with extensive news experience," Mr Williams said in a statement. "This breadth of experience is rare and will be critical to the ABC as we look to further strengthen our reach and engagement with the Australian community." His appointment to managing director will not be without controversy after a recent report exposed a toxic culture within Nine's television newsrooms. An internal report in October found nearly half of the commercial media giant's employees had experienced bullying, discrimination or harassment in the past five years, with one quarter experiencing sexual harassment. Mr Marks led Nine from 2015 to 2021, leaving after it was reported he was in a relationship with a senior executive. In the years since, he has been at Dreamchaser, a contemporary Australian film and TV production studio he co-founded and co-led. His five-year term at the ABC begins in March. He replaces David Anderson, who announced his departure in August. "I look forward to working with everyone at the ABC as it continues to host and guide discussion on the issues of importance to Australia and lead in the delivery of quality, truthful and engaging news, and premium content," Mr Marks said. "The ABC is an iconic and formidable media organisation. "No other institution has the reach and impact of the ABC, and it is a privilege to lead the ABC workforce as we confront the many technology and programming opportunities before us." The appointment came as the federal government pledged to legislate five-year funding terms for the ABC and SBS to ensure stability at the national broadcasters. That promise coincided with ABC getting another $83.1 million for the 2027 and 2028 financial years and $43 million in the years following. "The national broadcasters are important cultural institutions and pillars of our democracy, providing world-class news and entertainment in accordance with their statutory charters, for the benefit of all Australians," Communications Minister Michelle Rowland said. Novak Djokovic breaks his silence on tennis doping scandals - and reveals what he really thinks of Nick Kyrgios's tough stance Djokovic slams governing bodies for lack of transparency Tennis rocked by anti-doping controversies this year By ED CARRUTHERS FOR DAILY MAIL AUSTRALIA Published: 21:51 GMT, 29 December 2024 | Updated: 21:51 GMT, 29 December 2024 e-mail View comments Novak Djokovic has unloaded on tennis's governing bodies for their lack of transparency over the doping cases that have rocked the sport this year - echoing the stance of his former rival turned friend Nick Kyrgios . Specifically, the 24-time Grand Slam champion claimed that tennis players had been 'kept in the dark' in relation to Jannik Sinner 's case. The Italian had been found to have failed two doping tests in March, but had been found not to be at fault. Despite that, Sinner, 23, still faces the threat of a possible suspension, with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) set to appeal the International Tennis Integrity Agencies' (ITIA) decision that this year's Australian Open winner bore 'no fault or negligence' in relation to his positive tests for clostebol. Fellow Grand Slam winner, Iga Swiatek has also served a one-month ban for testing positive for a banned substance in August, while Aussie star Max Purcell accepted a suspension last week, after he admitted to breaching doping rules. Kyrgios has been outspoken on the situation for some time, claiming that the recent issues gave off a 'disgusting' look for tennis . Novak Djokovic has echoed Nick Kyrgios's comments condemning tennis's governing bodes over the doping scandals that have hit the sport recently A furious Kyrgios has been outspoken about Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek's alleged breaches of doping rules Sinner (pictured) allegedly failed two doping tests back in March but was cleared by the ITIA. WADA are now appealing that decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport 'I just think that it's been handled horrifically in our sport,' Kyrgios, 29, said. 'Two world number ones is disgusting for our sport. 'It's a horrible look.' Djokovic and Kyrgios are set to partner up for the men's doubles at this year's Brisbane International, with their first match coming on Monday night at the Pat Rafter Arena against Alexander Erler and Andrewa Mies. But on Sunday, Djokovic provided his thoughts on the doping scandals that have rocked tennis and sided with Kyrgios. 'It's not a good image, not a good look for our sport,' he told Sky Sports. 'I believe that in the last 20-plus years that I've been playing on the professional tour that we've been one of the cleanest sports. 'I'm just questioning the way the system works really and why certain players are not treated the same as the other players. The issue is the inconsistency, the transparency.' Djokovic has blasted the lack of transparency on doping, particularly around the Sinner case Kyrgios, meanwhile, took to social media to back Djokovic's claims, writing: 'Goat has spoken' Kyrgios had previously slammed the decision not to suspend Sinner as 'ridiculous'. His comments have ignited a fiery feud with the men's World No 1, with Kyrgios claiming that he felt 'people were trying to sweep Sinner's situation under the rug.' Djokovic, meanwhile, said: 'We've been kept in the dark with Jannik's case. I'm not questioning whether he took the banned substance intentionally or not. 'I believe in the clean sport, I believe the player will do everything possible to be playing fair and I've known Jannik since he was very young - he doesn't strike me as somebody that would do such a thing. 'But I've been really frustrated, as most of the players (have), to see that we've been kept in the dark for five months.' The 10-time Australian Open champion's comments were subsequently backed by Kyrgios on social media, with the Aussie star taking to X to back Djokovic on Sunday night. He wrote 'Goat has spoken' in response to a post that had detailed Djokovic's comments on doping in tennis. Kyrgios, meanwhile, is set to make his long-awaited return to the court on Monday, with the Australian having only played once competitively in the past two years. Djokovic and Kyrgios will partner up this week in the men's doubles at the Brisbane International Read More Novak Djokovic opens up on 'strange' experience of working with new coach Andy Murray The 29-year-old had feared he'd never play again after having undergone wrist reconstruction surgery this year. Prior to that, he had also overcome knee and ankle ligament issues that had derailed his 2023 season. 'Even to get back on the court from the surgery I had was a miracle, to be honest,' Kyrgios said. Kyrgios is preparing to play at this summer's Australian Open, claiming that he is taking one step at a time to get back to full fitness. 'I just take it day by day, doing everything I can to get back out on the court and have some success.' He also spoke out on how he and Djokovic came to the revelation that they should partner up for the Brisbane International this week. 'We spoke earlier, at Wimbledon, about playing together when he is back on tour,' Kyrgios told reporters. 'Now we have the first chance right away in the first week of the season, should be fun.' Kyrgios, who won the Australian Open men's doubles event in 2022 alongside Thanasi Kokkinakis, who has pulled out of this week's tournament. On Tuesday, Kyrgios will take on Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in his first singles match back from injury in the opening round of the men's singles at The Queensland Tennis Centre. OK, McKee actually threw the 20-yard TD to Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J Brown, who — in a momentary lapse of reason — chucked the souvenir football into the Lincoln Financial field stands. Uh-oh. “I felt so bad,” Brown said, “because I threw it so far.” McKee, a sixth-round pick out of Stanford in 2023, is a career third-string QB who had never played a regular-season snap until he was pressed into emergency duty Sunday against Dallas. Jalen Hurts did not start because of a concussion and Kenny Pickett — who ran and threw for a TD in the Eagles’ 41-7 win — was knocked of the game with injured ribs. That opened the door for the 24-year-old McKee to play in a game in which the Eagles clinched the NFC East. He did his part — including the 20-yard strike in the third that made it 34-7. The celebration was temporarily muted when he realized his ball — a milestone keepsake for any player — was somewhere in the stands. Little did McKee know the ball was coming back to him. Eagles fans kicked off a bit of a relay with the ball once they realized its significance to McKee. The fan who caught the ball was promised a jersey from Brown. He sent the ball to one fan, who passed it to Eagles security chief “Big” Dom DiSandro to hand to another Eagles employee to Brown and finally to McKee. Souvenir secured. “I appreciate whoever gave the ball back,” McKee said. “(Brown) was like, ‘I’m sorry, bro. I got the ball back.’ So, yeah, it was good. He made a great play, and obviously a great catch.” It was Brown’s throw that needed work. Winnipeg Jets Game Days On Winnipeg Jets game days, hockey writers Mike McIntyre and Ken Wiebe send news, notes and quotes from the morning skate, as well as injury updates and lineup decisions. Arrives a few hours prior to puck drop. Brown stripped off and signed his game jersey and handed it to a fan named Patrick as a thank-you for returning the football — all while fans chanted “E-A-G-L-E-S!” around him. “We’ve got great fans here,” Brown said. McKee needed more room on the trophy shelf — he threw a second TD pass in the fourth quarter. ___ AP NFL: https://apnews.com/NFL Advertisement AdvertisementLAS VEGAS — Formula 1 on Monday at last said it will expand its grid in 2026 to make room for an American team that is partnered with General Motors. "We credit the leadership of General Motors and their partners with significant progress in their readiness to enter Formula 1."
