Sunday's rivalry game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys lost some of its luster after Philly’s brutal loss to the Washington Commanders last week. Now just about locked into the No. 2 seed for the upcoming NFC playoffs, the Eagles have less to play for in Week 17, and can thus take a more cautious approach with key injured starters — like quarterback Jalen Hurts, who remained in the NFL’s concussion protocol as of Friday morning. While Philly still needs one win, or one Commanders loss, over the final two weeks to clinch the NFC East division title , the Cowboys are left playing out the string after being mathematically eliminated from the playoffs in Week 16. That makes Dallas’ lengthy injury report difficult to discern, as the team listed seven different players as questionable on Friday’s injury report. MORE: NFL picks, predictions for Week 17: Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys Who’s in, who’s out and who's starting at quarterback for this NFC East matchup? Here’s a full team-by-team injury breakdown, with the latest updates off of Friday’s practice reports: Eagles vs. Cowboys: Full injury designations Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb (shoulder) The Cowboys are reportedly shutting Lamb down for the season with his nagging shoulder injury, allowing the superstar wide receiver to rest and enter the offseason fully healthy. Brandin Cooks, Jalen Tolbert and KaVontae Turpin figure to lead the Cowboys’ wide receiver group going forward. DB Kemon Hall (hamstring) Hall was carving out a key role on special teams, but has been tending to a hamstring issue since last week’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers . Hall has yet to play a defensive snap this season, but he did have a pick-six against the Raiders during the preseason. CB Amani Oruwariye (foot) Oruwariye played a season-high 71 snaps against the Bucs last week, but he was ruled out on Friday after injuring his foot in practice. Andrew Booth Jr. has been up the past couple of weeks, and he could see a boost in reps on Sunday. OG T.J. Bass (thigh) Bass got the start at right guard in Week 15, but hasn’t been back in the lineup since due to a thigh injury. Swiss Army Knife Brock Hoffman slid over to the right side last week against the Bucs and figures to play there again against the Eagles’ tough defensive front. LB Nick Vigil (foot) Vigil somewhat surprisingly got his first start of the season at inside linebacker last week, and held up well over 69 snaps . He’s been managing a foot issue for weeks, but appears to have passed former starter Damone Clark on the Cowboys' depth chart. He should be on track to play after logging a limited practice session on Friday. LB Eric Kendricks (calf) Kendricks was held out of last week’s game against the Bucs, thrusting Vigil into the starting lineup. He’s trending towards playing this week after practicing in a limited capacity on both Thursday and Friday. WR Jalen Tolbert (finger) Tolbert was limited in practice all week due to a finger issue. Rookie sixth-round pick Ryan Flournoy could be in for an extended look with Lamb out and Tolbert’s status in question. Flournoy caught all three of his targets for 41 yards last week against Tampa Bay. LT Chuma Edoga (toe) Edoga, working at left tackle for the Cowboys in recent weeks, was added to the injury report on Thursday with a toe injury. The issue is not considered serious and Edoga should be available for another start on Sunday. He was on the practice field in a limited capacity on Friday. S Donovan Wilson (knee) This is a new injury for Wilson, as he was listed on last week’s practice report with an elbow issue. The ailment is not expected to impact Wilson’s playing time on Sunday. He got in a capped practice session on Friday and is trending towards playing. WR Jalen Brooks (knee) Last year’s seventh-round draft pick has seen an uptick in playing time this season, and he caught his first career TD pass in Week 15 against the Carolina Panthers . With Lamb out and both Tolbert and Brooks uncertain, trade deadline acquisition Jonathan Mingo could step into an elevated role against the Eagles. OT Asim Richards (ankle) Richards was in the mix for the Cowboys on offense before landing on injured reserve with an ankle issue in Week 12. He appears to be nearing a return after practicing in full all week. Dallas would have to make a roster move, though, as Richards currently remains on IR. Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (concussion) This comes as no surprise, as the Eagles signed QB Ian Book to their practice squad on Thursday. Head coach Nick Sirianni told reporters on Friday that Hurts had not yet cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol. Kenny Pickett will get the start against Cooper Rush and the Cowboys, with Tanner McKee serving as Philly's backup QB. WR Britain Covey (neck) Covey’s situation continues to be a head-scratcher. He’s been listed with a neck injury for weeks, yet entered Friday as a full participant in seven consecutive practices. Sirianni was questioned on whether Covey was really just a healthy scratch. The coach gave a non-answer to the question, and Covey all of a sudden missed Friday’s practice with said neck injury. The Eagles have tightened their wide receiver rotation to four players: A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Jahan Dotson and Johnny Wilson. With rookie Cooper DeJean handling punts, Covey appears to be the odd man out in this numbers game. RB Will Shipley (concussion) The rookie will miss his first game of the season. Shipley has made his mark on special teams with backs Saquon Barkley and Kenneth Gainwell handling the load on offense. The Eagles added former seventh-round pick Lew Nichols to their practice squad this week. Philly will likely call up either Nichols or Tyrion Davis-Price to fill Shipley’s role on Sunday. LB Nakobe Dean (abdomen) Dean was able to practice in a limited capacity on both Thursday and Friday, but the doubtful tag makes it highly unlikely that he’ll play on Sunday. It will be a good test for Philly’s defense, as Dean and running mate Zack Baun have barely left the field as the team’s starting inside linebackers. The Eagles could finally unleash rookie Jeremiah Trotter Jr., but veteran Oren Burks appears to be the next man up on the depth chart. EDGE Bryce Huff (wrist) The Eagles opened Huff’s 21-day practice window last week, but he currently remains on injured reserve. He was listed as a full participant all week and appears on track to return against the Cowboys. Philly will first have to make a corresponding roster move to activate Huff back onto the 53-man roster.3 AI Stocks I Like Better Than NVIDIA
COSTA RICA (AFP) – On a beach in Costa Rica, as fishermen land the day’s catch, two women are hard at work on a slimy sea bass skin, rubbing, scraping, washing and tanning the hide to turn it into leather. Two years ago, both Mauren Castro, 41, and Marta Sosa, 70, were stay-at-home mums dependent on their fishermen husbands to provide for their families of four and six. Today, they are part of the all-female Piel Marina (Marine Skin) cooperative, which turns fish skins that used to be discarded at sea into sustainable fashion. For generations, fishing was the economic mainstay in Costa de Pajaros, a village situated about 100 kilometres west of the capital San Jose. But fishermen say that regulations aimed at making stocks more sustainable, which this year included a complete ban on fishing between May and July, have made it harder to live off the sea. Earrings and keychains made with fish skin by working women from the Piel Marina cooperative at the Costa de Pájaros beach in Puntarenas, Costa Rica. PHOTO: AFP ABOVE & BELOW: A fisherman carries fish at the Costa de Pájaros beach; and fish skins that will be used for the production of earrings and key rings. PHOTO: AFP PHOTO: AFP Enter the NGO MarViva, which helped train 15 women to establish themselves as seafront tanners two years ago. The women were skeptical at first about the sartorial possibilities of fish skins. “We said ‘how can a skin, which is something that gets smelly, which is waste, be the raw material for women to be able to get ahead’”? Castro, 41, told AFP . But over time they honed their trade and are helping supplementing their families’ meagre incomes. Wearing blue rubber gloves and white t-shirts bearing the words Piel Marina, Sosa and Castro show how a skin rescued from a filleted sea bass can become a pair of earrings, a necklace or even a handbag. First they rub the skin gently between their fingers to remove the scales and any remaining flesh. “Then we take it and wash it with soap, as if we were washing clothes. Then we dye it with glycerin and alcohol and natural dye, and then we dry it,” Sosa explained. The dyeing process takes four days, with another four needed for the leather to dry in the sun to produce a fabric that is soft and pliable but strong. Crucially, it no longer smells of fish and has the advantage of being waterproof. The women are not only tanners, but have also become jewellery designers who sell colourful earrings and necklaces on Instagram and Facebook. A pair of earrings in the shape of a butterfly costs the equivalent of about USD7. The women also sell some of the leather to small-scale textile producers in Puntarenas, the main port on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. Costa Rica is just the latest country to catch onto the potential of fish tanning, an age-old practise among Indigenous peoples from Alaska to Scandanavia to Asia. While salmon skins were traditionally used by the Ainu people in Japan and the Inuit in northern Canada to make boots and clothes, and on the shores of Lake Victoria in Kenya they now use the local tilapia delicacy to make handbags. On the Internet, fish leather bags sell for hundreds of dollars. One of the first big-name fashion designers to get hooked on the skins was former Dior creative director John Galliano, who sported an Atlantic salmon skin jacket and fish leather bag in his 2002 collections. For the moment, the women of the Piel Marina cooperative are glad to have a job that gets them away from domestic chores and provides them with a small income. But they dream of the day when the leather they make by hand on the beach struts the global stage.TikTok is inching closer to a potential ban in the US. So what's next?

Contacts Jason Assad- Investor relations Email: [email protected] Telephone: 561-709-3043A transgender athlete on the San Jose State University women's volleyball team can continue to compete, a US judge has ruled, denying a request made by other players to keep her off the court. Monday's ruling by US District Judge S Kato Crews will allow the athlete, who has played all season, to compete in the Mountain West Conference (MWC) women's championship, which is scheduled to start on Wednesday in Las Vegas. Players for the MWC, including the current co-captain of San Jose State, filed an emergency lawsuit against the league to prevent the athlete from competing. The case comes amid an intense debate over transgender women's participation in sport. San Jose State University has not confirmed whether its women's volleyball team includes a transgender player, citing privacy laws. It has not, however, disputed that there is a transgender person on its team, according to Judge Crews' ruling. The volleyball player mentioned in the lawsuit has never spoken publicly about their gender identity. The dozen plaintiffs, a group that includes a San Jose co-captain, associate head coach and several other past and present college volleyball players, had requested a last-minute injunction to stop the athlete from competing. In their 132-page complaint, the plaintiffs argued that the presence of a transgender athlete in the league effectively discriminates against women, by denying them equal opportunities and threatening their safety. " Men competing on women's teams is incompatible with equal opportunities for women," the lawsuit states, citing Title IX, the federal law barring discrimination in education based on sex. The plaintiffs argue that it prohibits transgender women from participating in women's sports. But lawyers for the defendants noted a 2020 Supreme Court ruling that found that federal legislation which banned sex discrimination in the workplace covered sexual orientation and gender identity. In his ruling, Judge Crews cited that decision, saying the equal protections afforded by Title IX apply to transgender athletes. Judge Crews, a Joe Biden appointee, also said the plaintiffs had hurt their chances by submitting their case only days before the competition. Prohibiting the player from participating in a tournament days before its start "would risk confusion and upend months of planning", he said. "On balance, the equities favour the MWC's interest in conducting and proceeding with the tournament as planned", he said. In a statement released on Monday, San Jose State welcomed the ruling, saying it would continue to "reject discrimination in all forms". "All San Jose State University student-athletes are eligible to participate in their sports under NCAA [National Collegiate Athletics Association] and Mountain West Conference rules." The judge's ruling was upheld by a federal appeals court on Tuesday. Last month, four teams forfeited games against San Jose in apparent protest of the transgender athlete. Players for one of those teams, the University of Nevada Reno, said in a statement they would not be playing "in any match that advances injustice against female athletes". This is the player's fourth season playing college-level volleyball - including two for San Jose State - though her participation in previous years did not make headlines. All four of the teams that cancelled games this year have played against the transgender player in previous years, according to a New York Times' review of past records. The NCAA's rules on transgender athletes vary by sport, and depend on each sport's governing body. USA Volleyball says transgender women must take "the necessary steps to transition to their adopted gender", and submit testosterone levels before competing. For trans women, testosterone levels "must not exceed the upper limit of the normal female reference range for their age group".

This achievement reflects our disciplined approach to building a healthy balance sheet and implementing the structure required to support both near-term objectives and long-term expansion. We share in your frustration that our market value, trading at approximately our current cash value, does not yet reflect either Crown’s recent achievements or its immense future potential. However, we remain confident that this disparity will correct itself as we build a company that delivers meaningful impact, sustainable growth, and shareholder value. To ensure we maintain our listing status, we have filed our appeal with NASDAQ and expect to go before the hearing committee likely in early February. We will provide timely updates as they become available to Crown. In preparation, we have filed a Proxy Statement ahead of the Special Meeting on January 14th and are requesting approval to execute a reverse stock split to maintain bid-price compliance. We strongly urge our shareholders to favorably vote their approximately 64 million voting shares, and to provide Crown with the flexibility and financial strength needed to continue delivering against our growth plans. 2024 Division Highlights Smart Windows Fiber Optics Water Solutions Slant Wells Lead Pipes: Element 82 & PE Pipelines 2025 Outlook As we look ahead to 2025, Crown is stronger, more focused, and better positioned than ever to capitalize on new opportunities. Hilton Cartwright has revealed he had fears of being left paralysed while laying prone on the Optus Stadium turf in the BBL season opener. Cartwright sent a scare through Australian cricket last week, after falling awkwardly in the field in the Melbourne Stars' season-opening loss to Perth. He was taken from the field in a neck brace and medicab, before being quickly cleared of any serious damage in hospital and being released back to Melbourne. Incredibly, the former Test representative returned to play for the Stars just three days later against Brisbane, and has not missed a game yet this season. Speaking for the first time since the injury, Cartwright admitted his mind had spiralled quickly while laying on the turf with what was ultimately a case of whiplash. "It was an extraordinary series of events. It looked worse because there was no information surrounding it," Cartwright said. "My neck pain had subsided quite a lot by the time I was on the sidelines, it was all on one side. Needless to say the doctors did a great job with how they handled it. "But my mind spun to the worst-case scenario about being paralysed, or strokes. "My mind was completely spinning. But thankfully I was home that night and I haven't had any serious repercussions from it." After diving for a ball in the outfield, Cartwright's neck snapped back quickly and he was left to lay on the ground for close to five minutes while receiving medical attention. Adding to the concern was that the 32-year-old became a father for the second time in October, with another toddler also at home. "As soon as all that pain subsided I started thinking around all the short-term side effects," the West Australian said. "Am I going to be in a neck brace for a couple of months whilst we have a newborn? "It would not only be tough on me, but tough on my partner. Thankfully everything got cleared and there were no issues. So far so good." The batting allrounder said he had been able to class the incident as a "freak" accident, helping it not play on his mind while in the field since. Cartwright's comments came as the Stars slumped to a fourth straight loss to start the season, with the Sydney Sixers chasing down 195 against them with 11 balls and two wickets to spare at the SCG. The Melbourne club will now likely need to win at least five of their last six to have any hope of making the finals, beginning with Saturday night against Brisbane. Otherwise, they risk missing for a fifth straight season. "If we're being true to ourselves we want to win all six games to give ourselves a chance," Cartwright said.MAPUTO, Mozambique — At least 6,000 inmates escaped from a high-security prison in Mozambique’s capital on Christmas Day after a rebellion, the country’s police chief said, as widespread post-election riots and violence are roiling the country. Police chief Bernardino Rafael said 33 prisoners died and 15 others were injured during a confrontation with the security forces. The prisoners fled during violent protests that have seen police cars, stations and infrastructure destroyed after the country’s Constitutional Council confirmed the ruling Frelimo party as the winner of the Oct. 9 elections. The escape from the Maputo Central Prison, located 14 kilometers (9 miles) southwest of the capital, started around midday on Wednesday after “agitation” by a “group of subversive protesters” nearby, Rafael said. Some of the prisoners at the facility snatched weapons from the guards and started freeing other detainees. “A curious fact is that in that prison we had 29 convicted terrorists, who they released. We are worried, as a country, as Mozambicans, as members of the defense and security forces,” said Rafael. Related Articles “They (protesters) were making noise, demanding that they be able to remove the prisoners who are there serving their sentences”, said Rafael, adding that the protests led to the collapse of a wall, allowing the prisoners to flee. He called on the escaped prisoners to surrender to authorities and for the population to be informed about the fugitives. Videos circulating on social media show the moment inmates left the prison, while other recordings reveal captures made by military personnel and prison guards. Many prisoners tried to hide in homes, but some were unsuccessful and ended up being detained again. In one video, a prisoner still with handcuffs on his right wrist says he was held n the disciplinary section of the prison and was released by other inmates.Corporate sector investments drive agricultural growth in Pakistan: report The representational image shows a farmer harvesting wheat at a field in the outskirts of Lahore, in Punjab province, May 16, 2013. — Reuters KARACHI: The corporate and financial sectors are increasingly investing in the agriculture sector, aiming to boost its growth and development. This insight was shared during the launch of The State of Pakistan’s Agriculture 2024 report by the Pakistan Business Council (PBC) and the Pakistan Agricultural Coalition (PAC), held at the National Foods Limited (NFL) Corporate Head Office. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1700472799616-0'); }); In his opening remarks, Ehsan Malik, CEO of the PBC, highlighted the agriculture sector’s immense potential to contribute to economic stability, food security and rural development. “This report shows how the corporate sector is playing a key role in advancing the agriculture industry,” Ehsan stated. Kazim Saeed, CEO of PAC, said that where international-level agriculture is found in Pakistan, there is often a leading corporate entity working directly with farmers. “This report documents how corporate and financial players are contributing capital, technology and expertise to the agricultural sector for its growth and prosperity,” Kazim explained. He added that many companies are adopting sustainable practices, such as regenerative agriculture, eco-friendly production methods and efficient resource usage. The event included presentations by companies whose initiatives were featured as case studies in the report. Global CEO of National Foods Limited (NFL) Abrar Hasan praised the efforts of the PBC, PAC and other corporate players driving growth in the agriculture sector. Speaking about NFL’s case study, he noted that the company is focused on self-sufficiency, increasing exports and digitising farming in Pakistan to maintain a strong value chain. “Our products and partnerships demonstrate the positive impact of technology. The ‘Seed to Table’ initiative reflects our commitment to growth beyond borders, expanding into international markets while supporting the national economy through exports,” said Abrar. He highlighted NFL’s success in developing the tomato value chain, which helped create import substitution for tomato paste, benefitting both the company and the country. “We can unlock export potential by developing the tomato paste value chain, as tomatoes have higher export potential compared to other crops,” he added, noting that NFL’s approach serves as an example of how to respond to the recent sharp depreciation of the rupee. Adil Sattar of K&N’s spoke about the company’s six-decade-long leadership in poultry breeding, introducing new technologies in poultry farming, processing and retailing for both domestic and international markets. He also mentioned their commitment to food safety and Halal certification, maintaining hand slaughtering methods instead of stunning, despite the additional cost and effort. Faraz Zafar, Investment Director at AlKaram, discussed plans for Pakistan’s largest shrimp farm, Al-Karam’s Dhabeji Aqua Foods. The farm, located in Sindh’s Thatta, will cover 400 acres and feature 300 half-acre ponds. AlKaram has also invested in companies focused on cultivation and drone-based services. Faisal Iftikhar, CEO of AquaHatch, shared the vision of Garibsons and Jaffer Group, who are investing in fish and shrimp seed businesses to support farmers across Pakistan. Taimur Malik from Drawdown Farm by Thal Industries highlighted the importance of regenerative agriculture in protecting Pakistan’s soil, water and biodiversity. Amer Aziz, CEO of HBL Zarai Services, discussed how the corporate sector can better serve farmers, while M Aminuddin, CEO of TPL Insurance, spoke about the role of crop insurance in safeguarding farmers’ livelihoods.
