Keion White raised eyebrows earlier this week with about his future with the New England Patriots going forward. He had plenty more to say Saturday after the Patriots' worst defeat of the season. Following , our Patriots Insider Phil Perry caught up with White for a 1-on-1 conversation in the locker room. The second-year defensive end doubled down on the comments he made to Guregian. "I tried to clarify some things with him, including if he meant what he said to Karen Guregian," Perry said of White on , as seen in the video above. "Because Jerod Mayo said during the pregame show on 98.5 The Sports Hub that what White said wasn't what he meant. "And Keion White tells me after the game, he meant every word, and he meant exactly what he said, and he's not taking any of it back and he's not walking it back." Keion White tells me he meant what he said to this week. “I don’t really care how it came across as long as we’re on the same page and my teammates know where I stand. I don’t really care how it came across. Me and Mayo had a conversation. We’re on the same page.” — Phil Perry (@PhilAPerry) Perry then asked White -- who recorded four sacks in his first two games but has just one sack since -- if he feels like he's being "used properly" in New England's defense, and if he could have better production if he was utilized in a different way. "(White) said that's not up to him," Perry said. "What he needs to do is, he needs to make the changes on his own. He needs to make the fixes on his own. He needs to coach himself." To Perry, White's comments suggested that he's not a fan of the coaching he's receiving in New England. So, Perry asked White point-blank if he felt like he was getting good coaching. "That's not for me to decide," White responded. When Perry asked White again for his opinion on whether he's getting good coaching this season, White again responded, "It's not for me to decide. I'm not the one who makes those decisions." In Perry's view, White not endorsing his coaches spoke volumes. "I think that non-answer is pretty telling," Perry said. "To me, he doesn't like the system he's in. He told me he doesn't feel like he's doing the system justice. "He is admitting and he is taking it upon his own shoulders that he needs to perform better within the system, but the non-answers that I got from Keion White as follow-ups to all sorts of questions that he's gotten on the coaching staff and his fit here with the New England Patriots tells me he doesn't love the way he's being used. He doesn't love his fit in this scheme." White is under contract with the Patriots through the 2026 season, so he's not going anywhere unless New England trades him. The real question will be whether White has a new defensive coordinator or position coach if the Patriots decide to part ways with DeMarcus Covington or outside linebackers coach Drew Wilkins. The group further proposed reserving constituencies with 25% or higher ST population exclusively for ST candidates in the delimitation process set to begin in 2025. The AAM emphasised its stand against allowing non-ST candidates to contest from tribal-dominated districts such as Pratapgarh, Dungarpur, Banswara, and Udaipur, excluding Udaipur City. In reaction, the OBC Adhikar Manch countered the AAM demand by seeking urban assembly seats in TSP districts—Dungarpur, Banswara, Pratapgarh and Salumber—be reserved for OBC candidates. Kanakmal Katara, founder of the AAM, told TOI, "Successive govts failed to allocate the rightful share of reservation to tribal people living in TSP (Tribal Sub-Plan) areas. A significant portion of the 12% ST quota is taken by Meena communities in central and eastern Rajasthan. Tribal in TSP areas are now aware of their rights and will not remain silent until a 6.5% sub-quota is reserved for them." The rally is open to political functionaries from BJP, Congress and Bhartiya Tribal Party (BTP), with tribal people supporting the cause encouraged to join. "This is a community-driven program. We understand that achieving change requires political backing," Katara added. Sources confirmed that Banswara MP Rajkumar Roat (BTP) and BJP's Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya, a former minister, are likely to attend the rally. These politicians, alongside the Congress members, supported a prior meeting in Banswara in Nov. A BTP functionary said, "We will raise this issue in the budget session of the state assembly starting late Jan." The AAM urged tribal people to resist any attempt to declare non-tribal seats in TSP areas. However, Naresh Patel, coordinator of OBC Adhikar Manch, said, "OBCs are the second-largest group in TSP areas but have lacked representation, causing them to face numerous challenges. Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma should uphold equality and ensure OBC representation from these regions." Stay updated with the latest news on Times of India . Michigan upsets No. 2 Ohio State 13-10 for Wolverines' 4th straight win over bitter rivalA pair of Mountain West Conference powers square off Saturday, when No. 20 San Diego State hosts Utah State in each team's second conference game. The Aztecs (8-2, 1-0 MWC) climbed three spots in this week's poll and have a five-game winning streak. Head coach Brian Dutcher's squad is ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 for the fifth time in six seasons and is chasing a fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Dutcher believes the difficult nonconference slate the Aztecs battled through will serve his team well ahead of Saturday's matchup with the Aggies (11-1, 1-0). "I'm really pleased with the effort I've gotten from these guys," Dutcher said. "We had as good a nonconference as we could have had with the schedule we played. A loss to Gonzaga, a loss to Oregon, that's nothing to hang your head over. Wins over Creighton, Houston, Cal and UC San Diego -- who's 11-2. I thought that we put a good resume together." Leading his new team in scoring at 13.4 points per game is senior Nick Boyd, who transferred from Florida Atlantic, where he faced San Diego State in the 2023 Final Four. Miles Byrd follows with 13.0 points per contest, up from just 4.0 a season ago, and BJ Davis adds 11.2 points per game. Saturday marks the first of two regular season games between the Aggies and Aztecs, with a third meeting in the conference tournament a strong possibility. Either San Diego State or Utah State has appeared in every MWC championship game since 2018, with the teams facing each other in four of the last six finals. Utah State only has one blemish on the season, a two-point loss to UC San Diego on Dec. 17. The Aggies won their first 10 games of the season prior to the defeat, marking the best start to a season in program history. First-year head coach Jerrod Calhoun's roster is a bit of a rarity in today's college basketball landscape. The Aggies' three leading scorers are all returned from last year's team coached by Danny Sprinkle. Mason Falslev (17.3 points per game), Ian Martinez (17.0) and Karson Templin (10.3) spearhead a Utah State group that looks to build off last year's NCAA Tournament first-round win over TCU. It was the Aggies' first tournament victory since 2001. "I've said all along, (Utah State) is a place that you can win at a high level consistently," Calhoun said. "They've shown that year after year, but these guys have the 'it factor.' ... It's about getting better each day. It's about enjoying the process. The outcomes will be there if you really take the process to heart." The Aggies will look to avenge last season's 86-70 loss to San Diego State in the MWC tournament semifinals. San Diego State and Utah State will meet again on Feb. 22 in Logan, Utah. --Field Level Media
APFDC, ISB, BIPP sign MoU to boost AP tribals livelihoodsNEW YORK (AP) — Greg Gumbel, a longtime CBS sportscaster, has died from cancer, according to a statement from family released by CBS on Friday. He was 78. “He leaves behind a legacy of love, inspiration and dedication to over 50 extraordinary years in the sports broadcast industry; and his iconic voice will never be forgotten,” his wife Marcy Gumbel and daughter Michelle Gumbel said in a statement. In March, Gumbel missed his first NCAA Tournament since 1997 due to what he said at the time were family health issues. Gumbel was the studio host for CBS since returning to the network from NBC in 1998. Gumbel signed an extension with CBS last year that allowed him to continue hosting college basketball while stepping back from NFL announcing duties. In 2001, he announced Super Bowl XXXV for CBS, becoming the first Black announcer in the U.S. to call play-by-play of a major sports championship. David Berson, president and CEO of CBS Sports, described Greg Gumbel as breaking barriers and setting standards for others during his years as a voice for fans in sports, including in the NFL and March Madness. “A tremendous broadcaster and gifted storyteller, Greg led one of the most remarkable and groundbreaking sports broadcasting careers of all time,” said Berson. Gumbel had two stints at CBS, leaving the network for NBC when it lost football in 1994 and returning when it regained the contract in 1998. He hosted CBS’ coverage of the 1992 and 1994 Winter Olympics and called Major League Baseball games during its four-year run broadcasting the national pastime. But it was football and basketball where he was best known and made his biggest impact. Gumbel hosted CBS’ NFL studio show, “The NFL Today” from 1990 to 1993 and again in 2004. He also called NFL games as the network’s lead play-by-play announcer from 1998 to 2003, including Super Bowl XXXV and XXXVIII. He returned to the NFL booth in 2005, leaving that role after the 2022 season.
