CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Patrick Mahomes continues to build great chemistry with his tight end — just not the one you might think. Mahomes threw two touchdown passes to Noah Gray for the second straight week as the Kansas City Chiefs held off the Carolina Panthers 30-27 on Sunday. A week after losing at Buffalo, the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs (10-1) maintained their position atop the AFC. Mahomes completed a 35-yard touchdown strike to Gray on the game’s opening possession and found him again for an 11-yard TD in the second quarter. Gray has four touchdown catches in the last two weeks — twice as many as nine-time Pro Bowler Travis Kelce has all season — and has become a weapon in the passing game for the Chiefs, who lost top wide receiver Rashee Rice to a season-ending knee injury in Week 4. Kelce was still a factor Sunday with a team-high six catches for 62 yards, although the four-time All-Pro looked dejected after dropping one easy pass. Kelce has 62 receptions for 507 yards this season, while Gray has 26 catches for 249 yards. But Gray's development is a good sign for the Chiefs — and he's on the same page with Mahomes. On his second TD, Gray said Mahomes “gave me the answer to the test there” before the play. “He told me what coverage it was pre-snap," said Gray, who had four receptions for 66 yards. “That’s just the blessing you have of playing with a quarterback like that. Offensive line did a great job blocking that up and the receivers did a great job running their routes to pop me open. Really just a group effort right there on that touchdown.” Gray said that's nothing new. “Pat’s preparation, his leadership is just something that I’m fortunate enough to play alongside,” Gray said. "I love it. It gets me motivated every time we go out there for a long drive. Having a leader like that, that prepares every single week in-and out, knows defenses, knows the game plans. “I’m just fortunate enough to play alongside a guy like that.” Mahomes completed 27 of 37 passes for 269 yards and three TDs, and he knew what to do on the second TD to Gray. “It's not just me, it's the quarterback coaches and the players, we go through certain checks you get to versus certain coverages,” Mahomes said. “I was able to see by the way they lined up they were getting into their cover-zero look. I alerted the guys to make sure they saw what I saw and I gave the check at the line of scrimmage.” ___ AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/nfl Steve Reed, The Associated Press49ers look to maintain 'urgency' against rival Ramsgenie three wishes

Nikki Kaye talks life, politics and nature in one of her last interviewsSavion Williams rushed for two touchdowns and Josh Hoover threw for 252 yards as TCU pulled away from Arizona in the second half, winning 49-28 on Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas. The Horned Frogs (7-4, 5-3 Big 12) scored touchdowns on five consecutive possessions, starting late in the first half after the Wildcats (4-7, 2-6) pulled within 14-13. Williams carried nine times for 80 yards, scoring on runs of 1 and 20 yards in the first half. Hoover completed 19 of 26 passes, with one touchdown and one interception, before being pulled midway through the fourth quarter when the Frogs were up by 21. TCU took control after leading 21-13 at halftime, going up 35-13 on a 38-yard reception to JP Richardson midway through the third. Arizona kept its hopes alive, ending a 15-play, 75-yard drive with a 3-yard touchdown pass to Chris Hunter on fourth down on the first play of the fourth quarter. The two-point conversion made it 35-21. But the Horned Frogs responded with another TD drive, capped by a 6-yard run by Cam Cook for a 42-21 advantage. Arizona added a 70-yard fumble return touchdown with one minute to go for the game's final score. Tetairoa McMillan caught nine passes for 115 yards to become the Arizona career leader in receiving yardage with 3,355. He surpassed his receivers coach, Bobby Wade (3,351), at the top spot. The Wildcats' Noah Fifita completed 29 of 44 passes for 284 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, which happened on the game's first snap. TCU promptly scored on a 4-yard run by Trent Battle, and Williams added a 1-yard TD run late in the first quarter for a 14-0 lead. But the Wildcats fought back, getting a 17-yard touchdown reception by Hunter and field goals of 53 and 43 yards from Tyler Loop to climb within 14-13 with 1:55 go before halftime. That's almost how the half ended, but the Horned Frogs converted third-and-18 on the ensuing drive and then gained 24 yards on third-and-25 to the Arizona 20. That set up a 20-yard run by Williams on fourth-and-1 with 13 seconds left for a 21-13 lead. --Field Level MediaResolve citizen complaints quickly: Haryana Chief Secy to officers

Meghan McCain says she voted for late father in 2024 presidential electionYadagirigutta Temple Board to Get Nod in the Next Cabinet MeetingRomania’s pro-European parties agreed Wednesday to form a majority government made up of groupings that were traditionally on opposite sides and shutting out far-right nationalists who made significant gains in the election on Dec. 1. Pro-Western parties won the most votes, with the leftist Social Democratic Party, or PSD, topping the polls. The PSD reached agreement late Tuesday to form a grand coalition with the center-right National Liberal Party, or PNL, the reformist Save Romania Union party, USR, and the small ethnic Hungarian UDMR party. The parliamentary election came hard on the heels of a presidential vote in which the far-right outsider Calin Georgescu won the first round. His surprise success plunged the European Union and NATO member country into turmoil as allegations of electoral violations and Russian interference emerged. Days before the Dec. 8 presidential runoff, the Constitutional Court made the unprecedented move to annul the presidential race. A statement from the new coalition said the parties would potentially support a “common pro-European candidate” in the new presidential elections. It isn’t yet clear whether Georgescu will be allowed to run in the new vote. President Klaus Iohannis, whose second term is set to expire later this month, said a new date for the rerun presidential election would be set once the new government has taken office. “In the coming days, the four parties and the representatives of the national minorities will work on a joint governing program, focusing on development and reforms, while addressing the priorities of Romanian citizens,” the coalition statement said. Elena Lasconi, the leader of USR who was set to face Georgescu in the annulled presidential runoff, said after the agreement was reached that “Romania is going through a very difficult” period and that cutting state spending and reducing bureaucracy would be part of the governing program. In 2021, despite historically being Romania’s two main opposition parties that have dominated post-communist politics, the PSD and the PNL formed an unlikely but increasingly strained coalition together with UDMR, which exited the Cabinet last year after a power-sharing dispute.

Shivambu defended Zuma, who has been linked to state capture. He dismissed allegations that Zuma misappropriated state funds for personal gain, stating uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party secretary-general Floyd Shivambu has stated that the party is “not ashamed” of any of its leaders, including former president Jacob Zuma. Shivambu made this declaration during an interview with Newzroom Afrika, following an MK party media briefing where plans were revealed to challenge the coalition government currently leading KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), with claims of support from the African National Congress (ANC). Despite being the largest political force in the province, the MK party remains in opposition. The party has also attracted several high-profile politicians, particularly from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). Secretary-general... — Newzroom Afrika (@Newzroom405) Leadership Exodus from EFF The EFF, led by Julius Malema, has experienced a significant leadership exodus, with notable figures such as Shivambu, Mzwanele Manyi, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, and Dali Mpofu joining Zuma’s MK party. Speculations suggest that more departures may follow. Shivambu defended Zuma, who has been linked to state capture. He dismissed allegations that Zuma misappropriated state funds for personal gain, stating, “There were so many people who were even saying that President Zuma stole billions of rands, he’s building mansions in Dubai, he’s doing all of those things. Not even one person today can come with proof that Zuma took a single cent from the state for his own personal benefit out of the so-called nonsense of state capture.” [WATCH] “This is a very important celebration because the uMkhonto we Sizwe Party is effectively the most successful one-year-old political party since forever. There has never been a political party in South Africa that got to enjoy the kind of success and progress it got to... — Newzroom Afrika (@Newzroom405) Zuma is currently involved in several legal battles, including efforts to remove his arms deal prosecutor, Billy Downer. Zuma, along with French arms company Thales, faces multiple charges of fraud, corruption, money laundering, and racketeering related to the 1999 multi-billion rand defence procurement project. The case has been repeatedly delayed by Zuma’s legal strategies. Shivambu Embracing Leaders Shivambu emphasised that the MK party embraces all its leaders, including Judge Hlophe, who he claims was unlawfully removed for political reasons. “We embrace all of our leaders. We embrace Judge Hlophe who was unlawfully removed by the Democratic Alliance and the ANC for political reasons. “The reason they displaced him was because they were fearful that he would rule against them, that he stands firmly against the racist culture which is beginning to encroach the judiciary in the Western Cape High Court and other spheres of society,” Shivambu stated. Shivambu highlighted the rapid success and progress of the MK party, noting that it has achieved significant milestones within its first year of existence. Last month, he remarked that the MK party’s parliamentary caucus possesses superior skill sets compared to other political parties in the country.SIERRA VISTA — At Tuesday’s Sierra Vista City Council work session, Economic Development Commission member and Founding Dean of the College of Applied Science and Technology Gary Packard Jr. gave a presentation to the City Council explaining what the commission sees as the city’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) and how this compares to a previous analysis last conducted in 2018.
