SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Footage showing the attack on former Arizona Coyotes player Paul Bissonnette was released by the Scottsdale Police Department on Tuesday. The Nov. 24 fight started at Houston's restaurant near McDonald Drive and Scottsdale Road around 7:30 p.m. and ended at the nearby CVS. The former NHL-er and podcaster said in a Spittin' Chiclets episode that he was minding his business when he saw a group of men getting rowdy near the bar. He says he stepped in when a man appeared to get physical with one of the restaurant employees. "I said, ‘Listen guy, if you keep harassing and assaulting the staff, we’re going to go outside and have some problems.’ The minute that left my mouth, the guys starts swinging, and the next thing you know, four guys start swinging at me," Bissonnette said during the Nov. 26 episode. "I ate three kicks: one in the neck two in the head. Was able to get up, and at this point now, I have no shoes on. I got my pants, no shirt. I’m finally able to run into CVS, and they didn’t come into CVS. Thankfully, the cops were called right away." The footage of the fight was released on Dec. 10. The footage shows the moment the fight broke out inside the restaurant, when the fight left the restaurant, and then when the fight spilled over to the CVS parking lot. Days after the fight, he was back on TNT, broadcasting for an NHL game. The suspects were identified as Danny Bradley, John G. Carroll, William J. Carroll, Sean Daley, Edward Jennings, and Henry Mesker. Hours before the fight involving Bissonnette, FOX 10 learned there was a similar attack at Raven Golf Club . The victim in that assault says he believes it was Danny Bradley who did it, but police are still looking into that incident and haven't named a suspect yet. A parole board has denied Travis Vader day parole on Thursday, noting that his “community supervision history is very poor” and that his “risk to the public would be undue” at this point in his sentence. In 2017, Vader was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to life in prison for the deaths of Lyle and Marie McCann. The couple, who were in their 70s, disappeared in 2010 after leaving their St. Albert, Alta., home, a small community near Edmonton. Their burned-out motorhome and vehicle they were towing were found days later, west of the city, but their bodies were never found. It’s not known how the couple was killed. Following a lengthy and high-profile legal process, Vader was initially charged with first-degree murder, but a mistrial was declared, and the murder charges were stayed. Vader has never admitted to killing the McCanns and maintained his innocence during the hearing. The board also took that into consideration in its decision. “Vader has never acknowledged his guilt and as a part of that he’s never revealed what happened and what happened to my parents and what happened to their remains. And so that was the kind of message I was trying to get across,” said McCann. “’No body, no parole’ laws have been introduced in Australia as a way of trying to bring closure to the families of murder victims. The U.K. is considering such action as well,” he said in a statement released by the family to the parole board. “In our opinion, such a law should be implemented in Canada.” In 2019, Sturgeon River-Parkland MP Dane Lloyd introduced a private member’s bill called “McCann’s law” to lengthen sentences or block parole for convicted killers who don’t reveal what happened to their victims. It did not pass. “It’s a bill that I’m continuing to advocate for,” said Lloyd. “I’m running on it in the next election, and I have the support of my Conservative colleagues to pass this legislation when we hopefully form government after the next election.” Bret says he is hopeful the bill will pass. But for now, he will continue to attend future parole hearings. “At least we're now more familiar with the process and we can participate and have our say in the future.” Correction In an earlier version of this file, Bret McCann was erroneously reported as the victims’ grandson. Streaming giant Netflix Inc NFLX recently streamed a live boxing event featuring a match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson which led to difficulties for consumers trying to watch the fight. The company's co-CEO Ted Sarandos highlighted the success of the fight and what's ahead for live sports events in a recent interview. What Happened: Netflix saw unprecedented demand for the Nov. 15 boxing match between Paul and Tyson with 109 million people watching the fight globally, according to Sarandos. "We were pushing the (internet service provider), every ISP in the world, right to the limits of their own capacity. We were stressing the limits of the internet itself that night," Sarandos said at a UBS conference earlier this week, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Sarandos said the company had a control room in Silicon Valley that worked on fixing internet issues due to the "unprecedented demand that was happening." The Netflix co-CEO highlighted the combined efforts of the content team, marketing, publicity and social media teams to help make the fight as big as it was. "It's really phenomenal. It's a Super Bowl-like audience that we were able to draw for this fight." The Netflix executive said the company may have left money on the table with advertising revenue for the Paul-Tyson match. "If we knew the audience would be that big, we probably would have done a lot more selling on that fight." Netflix begins broadcasting WWE events in January as part of an agreement with the company's owner TKO Group Holdings TKO . Sarandos said WWE fits into the mold of a younger audience and treats sporting contests like big events. "We also liked it because for a sport, it also has a 40-person writer room, so it's much closer to our current wheelhouse of creating and storytelling." But in a piece described as a “12-minute” read, Time called into question more than a dozen statements Trump made when speaking to the magazine's reporters, on issues like border size, autism and crowd size at a rally. OpenAI's Altman will donate $1 million to Trump's inaugural fund LOS ANGELES (AP) — OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is planning to make a $1 million personal donation to President-Elect Donald Trump’s inauguration fund, joining a number of tech companies and executives who are working to improve their relationships the incoming administration. A spokesperson for OpenAI confirmed the move on Friday. The announcement comes one day after Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, said it donated $1 million to the same fund. Amazon also said it plans to donate $1 million. Two days after a sign stating 'Keep Christ in Christmas' was removed from the nativity scene display at Stuart Park, Kelowna-Centre MLA Kristina Loewen went to social media to express her opinion on the matter. "We believe that it's an important detail that Christmas is a Christian holiday," said Loewen in her video, referring to 'we' as all of the MLAs for the Central Okanagan. "We will be standing united and defending all British Columbians rights to religion and freedom of expression, speech, thought, belief," she added. "Canada is an incredible country full of diverse cultures and religions, and a wide variety of views, and I think that's one of the things that makes us so incredible." Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream MLA Tara Armstrong agreed with her fellow Conservative, quote-tweeting the video and saying "a great message from a colleague and friend. I'm proud to be part of a team that stands for what's right." Macklin McCall, MLA for West Kelowna, also quote-tweeted Loewen's post. However, Kelowna-Mission MLA Gavin Dew appears to not have commented on social media. The nativity scene is put up by the Knights of Columbus every year and a permit is given from the City of Kelowna to do so. When the 'Keep Christ in Christmas' sign was displayed beside the scene on Monday, Dec. 9, some people in the community, including the Kelowna Atheists, Skeptics, and Humanists Association (KASHA) took issue. A letter by KASHA to Black Press Media on Dec. 9, stated the nativity scene is part of Christmas, just as "lights, festive trees, and other decorative displays" are also. "This message is not merely festive—it is political, advocating for a specific religious interpretation of the holiday," said KASHA about the sign. The next day, the sign was taken down and the City of Kelowna confirmed that the sign was not part of the Knights of Columbus' permit for the nativity scene. The Knights of Columbus had no comment regarding the matter. Capital News reached out to Loewen for further comment but was met with an automatic e-mail reply. Additionally, the City of Kelowna stated it had no comment on Loewen's video. However, Ian Bushfield the executive director of the B.C. Humanist Association did have a comment. "Freedom of religion in Canada includes freedom from religion," said Bushfield in an e-mailed statement. "Ms. Loewen and all Christians are obviously free to celebrate Christmas as a Christian holiday but our governments have a clear duty of religious neutrality. That means neither endorsing nor prohibiting any religion over any other. That sign, and arguably even the nativity scene, being on public property breaches that duty. She can put the sign up at her church or at her own house but we do not live in a theocracy." Bushfield has previously stated that BCHA is an organization committed to secular values. “Part of that is the separation of religion and government," said Bushfield. The City of Kelowna also said it received five letters on the matter when the sign was up but none since it's been taken down.

This underscores the critical importance of cybersecurity, which 61 % of executives identified as their top risk mitigation priority, surpassing digital risks (60%), inflation (48%), and environmental risks (30%). Data breaches remain a pressing concern, with one in three organisations reporting breaches costing over $1 million in the past three years. Additionally, 42% of Indian business leaders are prioritising data protection and remediation as key areas of focus in response to recent cyber incidents. Cloud-related threats emerged as the top risk for 55% of executives, a 3% increase from the previous year. However, half of the security leaders and chief financial officers (CFOs) surveyed admitted they feel least prepared to tackle these risks. The report found that 74% of CXOs have strengthened their cybersecurity posture in response to evolving regulations. Sundareshwar Krishnamurthy, partner and leader -cybersecurity, PwC India, emphasised, cyber regulations are consistently driving heightened cybersecurity spending, with every executive surveyed acknowledging that regulatory mandates have driven them to bolster their security measures. Generative AI (Gen AI) is proving to be a game-changer in cybersecurity, with 87% of organisations increasing investments in Gen AI for cyber defence strategies. Furthermore, 86% of companies have boosted spending on AI governance , while 80% expressed confidence in their ability to comply with AI regulations. This trend underscores the growing reliance on advanced technologies to tackle increasingly complex cyber threats. Despite the heightened focus on cybersecurity, challenges persist. Only 20% of organisations employ robust methodologies for quantifying cyber risks, which limits their ability to prioritise strategic investments. Sivarama Krishnan noted, "Although a majority of senior leaders acknowledge the importance of quantifying cyber risk to prioritise investments, only one-fifth of organisations are adopting thorough risk quantification methodologies." While 8% of security leaders reported data breaches costing over $20 million, a decrease of 3% from last year, 44% experienced breaches with costs exceeding $500,000 in the past three years. Moreover, 33% of leaders acknowledged that most of their serious data breaches incurred costs of at least $1 million.
