The third edition of the competition in Lagos in three years – was at the heart of the event, featuring matches between community-based teams such as Pinnock Estate, Royal Garden Estate, Emerald Estate, Real Madrid Fan Club, Chevron Estate and Femi Okunu Housing Estate. Desmond Chiji, LALIGA Delegate in Nigeria, said: “The PUMA BALL STREET KINGS tournament is the ideal showcase for the sense of community and tolerance that the LALIGA VS platform is all about. Racism has no place in football or society. Through LALIGA VS Racism, we are reaffirming our commitment to transparency, unity, and diversity, which truly make the game beautiful.” LALIGA VS Racism, which is part of the wider LALIGA VS platform, is a comprehensive campaign dedicated to eradicating racism and hate both inside and outside football stadiums. It combines educational and preventative initiatives, including increasing the visibility of reporting channels, the use of personalized captain’s armbands and fixed informative signs inside LALIGA grounds, together with firm action such as working closely with governmental and judicial authorities to hold perpetrators accountable. LALIGA has recently collaborated with Nigerian media platforms to amplify this anti-racism messaging, emphasizing the importance of addressing the issue head-on. Tresor Penku, Managing Director for LALIGA Africa, added: “Football is a unifying force that transcends borders and cultures. The efforts globally are a testament to our determination to use the sport as a vehicle for meaningful change, ensuring that football remains a safe and inclusive space for all.” As LALIGA continues its work across Africa and the globe, its commitment to making football a sport for all reinforces the unifying power of the beautiful game.AP News Summary at 6:36 a.m. EST

The 39-year-old has been a breath of fresh air since succeeding Erik ten Hag, with his personality and approach, coupled with promising early performances, bringing hope back to Old Trafford. Amorim has been touched by his warm welcome but repeatedly urged fans to avoid jumping the gun, having followed a draw at Ipswich with home wins against Bodo/Glimt and Everton. Wednesday’s trip to Arsenal is comfortably his biggest challenge yet and victory would see United move within three points of the Premier League title contenders. Put to Amorim it will be hard to manage expectations if they won in the capital, the head coach said: “I would like to say different things, but I have to say it again: the storm will come. “I don’t know if you use that expression, but we are going to have difficult moments and we will be found out in some games. “And I know that because I’m knowing my players and I know football and I follow football, so I understand the difference between the teams. “We are in the point in that we are putting simple things in the team, without training, and you feel it in this game against Everton, they change a little bit the way they were building up. “They are very good team, and we were with a lot of problems because we cannot change it by calling one thing to the captain. A midweek trip to the capital awaits 🚆 #MUFC || #PL pic.twitter.com/1e6VrILJW3 — Manchester United (@ManUtd) December 3, 2024 “So, we don’t have this training, so let’s focus on each game, on the performance, what we have to improve, trying to win games. And that is the focus. “I know it’s really hard to be a Manchester United coach and say these things in press conferences. We want to win all the time. No matter what. “We are going to try to win, but we know that we are in a different point if you compare to Arsenal. “So, it is what it is and we will try to win it and we go with confidence to win, but we know that we need to play very well to win the next football match.” The trip to Arsenal is the second of nine December matches for United, who are looking to avoid suffering four straight league defeats to the Gunners for the first time. The Red Devils have not won a Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium since 2017, but Amorim knows a thing or two about frustrating Mikel Arteta’s men. Arsenal thrashed Sporting Lisbon 5-1 in the Champions League last week, but in 2022-23 he led the Portuguese side to a Europa League last-16 penalty triumph after a 1-1 draw in London made it 3-3 on aggregate. “Arsenal this year, they play a little bit different,” Amorim said. “They are more fluid. “For example, two years ago when we faced them with Sporting, you knew how to press because you can understand better the structure. “Now it’s more fluid with (Riccardo) Calafiori and (Jurrien) Timber in different sides. One coming inside, the other going outside. Also (Martin) Odegaard changed the team, and you can feel it during this season. “So, you can take something from that game, especially because I know so well the opponent so you can understand the weakness of that team. “But every game is different, so you take something, but you already know that you are going to face a very good team.” This hectic winter schedule means Amorim sidestepped talk of January transfer business ahead of facing Arsenal, although he was more forthcoming on Amad Diallo’s future. The 22-year-old, who put in a man of the match display in Sunday’s 4-0 win against Everton, is out of contract at the end of the season, although the club holds an option to extend by a year. Diallo has repeatedly spoken of his desire to stay at United and it has been reported an agreement is close. Amorim said: “I think he wants to stay, and we want him to stay. So that is clear and we will find a solution.”METAIRIE, La. (AP) — Dejounte Murray plans to return to the New Orleans Pelicans ' lineup on Wednesday night for the first time since fracturing his left hand in a season-opening victory over Chicago on Oct. 23. And when Murray takes the court against the Toronto Raptors , his mother will be on his mind. After practice on Tuesday, Murray discussed his impending return and disclosed more details about the previously unspecified “personal matters” that caused him to leave the team during the final days of the preseason. His mother had a stroke, he said. “It was tough to leave and go deal with that. As she got better, she wanted me to come play,” Murray said of his last-minute decision to start against Chicago. He added that his hand injury near the end of that game was God's way of telling him, “‘Nah, you need to stay with your mom.’” “I was more concerned about my mother. That was my priority,” Murray continued. “I wasn’t really worried about my recovery.” Murray's mother has recovered well, he said, while he is “healthy and ready to help this team.” “I’m ready to hoop. Play for my mother — she’s going to be watching," Murray said. “I’m ready to compete, bring that winning spirit.” The Pelicans (4-14) certainly could use the help, having lost 14 of 16 games since opening the season with a pair of victories. Injuries have ravaged the roster. At times, all five starters have been out. Star power forward Zion Williamson has missed 12 games this season — one with an illness and 11 with a hamstring injury. Herb Jones has been sidelined by a shoulder strain and Brandon Ingram's status is in doubt after he sat out practice on Tuesday with calf soreness that also sidelined him during a loss on Monday night at Indiana. But at least two starters — Murray and fellow guard CJ McCollum — are expected to play against the Raptors. “I don’t care how many games we’ve lost. I just know every time I step on the floor I feel like we can win games,” said Murray, who had 14 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds in his lone game with the Pelicans. "That’s just my mentality, and I feel like it can carry over to a lot of guys.” AP NBA: https://apnews.com/hub/NBA

As the stock market has moved higher, one victim has been dividend yields . With the average payout for the S&P 500 down to just 1.25%, such stocks have lost a bit of appeal at a time when investors can earn a guaranteed return of around 5% in some certificates of deposit. Nonetheless, you don't need to look far to find stocks with high, sustainable dividends and significant potential for stock price growth. Even with a budget of $3,000, a $1,000 investment in each of these stocks can bring a quick stream of dividend income without undermining the potential for stock price growth. Sign Up For Free » AT&T Admittedly, AT&T 's (NYSE: T) recent dividend history may make its stock a strange choice at first glance. In 2022, the company abandoned a 35-year streak of payout hikes, slashing the dividend by 45%. It has remained at the $1.11-per-share level since then, yielding 4.8% at current prices. AT&T also carries a massive total debt of $129 billion, a huge burden considering its $116 billion in stockholders' equity . However, the dividend is holding up well considering this challenge. The debt fell by $8 billion over the previous nine months. Additionally, thanks to its $17 billion to $18 billion in free cash flow forecast for 2024, AT&T can pay for debt reduction while covering the $8 billion annual dividend cost. Moreover, because of a near-exclusive focus on its wireless network and fiber, AT&T has added nearly 1.2 million wireless net customers and over 700,000 fiber net customers in the first nine months of 2024. That growing customer base allows AT&T to solidify its business. Investors are taking notice of such improvements, and the stock price has risen 45% over the last year. With a relatively low P/E ratio of 19, investors may have an added incentive to buy AT&T stock now before the rising stock price further reduces its dividend yield. Innovative Industrial Properties The idea of buying a cannabis-related real estate investment trust (REIT) like Innovative Industrial Properties (IIP) (NYSE: IIPR) may seem counterintuitive right now. Although IIP serves only medical cannabis growers, the Republican sweep in the 2024 elections could slow a continued legalization process. Also, in recent quarters, a rapid growth rate came to a halt amid problems with some non-paying tenants on its 108 properties. However, IIP proved itself adept at managing such properties by either unloading them or finding new tenants to take their places. The company has also hiked its dividend at least once per year since beginning its dividend in 2017. Consequently, its $7.60-per-share annual payout yields 7.2%. That was less than $8.11 per share in funds from operations (FFO) income over the last 12 months, meaning it can sustain its dividend. Even with the significant pullback after the election, IIP stock is still up 33% for the year. Thanks to that discounted stock price, IIP stock sells at a price-to-FFO ratio of around 13. Between that valuation and the massive dividend yield, IIP offers a huge incentive to wait on a likely recovery from the recent pullback. Realty Income Realty Income (NYSE: O) is a REIT specializing in single-tenant commercial properties. It rents such buildings on a net lease arrangement, meaning the tenant pays for the taxes, insurance, and maintenance of the properties. This means the company can retain more of the revenue from the properties as profit. Moreover, nearly 99% of the company's approximately 15,500 properties have tenants. Hence, it continues to develop and acquire more property to raise its revenue over time. Admittedly, the higher interest rates over the last few years have weighed on the stock and its profitability. Nonetheless, the lower price has also increased the dividend yield. Its $3.16-per-share annual payout yields about 5.6%, far surpassing the S&P 500 average. Also, higher rates have not stopped the company from raising its payout, and its dividend has increased at least once per year since its inception in 1994. Finally, while higher rates have had Realty Income stock trading more than 30% below its 2020 high, the falling rates should increase the company's profitability. At a price-to-FFO ratio of about 14, that could set up investors to benefit from a sizable dividend and, later, a long-awaited stock recovery. Should you invest $1,000 in AT&T right now? I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! viewers are predicting that one contestant has sealed their fate for the first elimination after showing their "true colours". The 2024 series of the ITV reality show has been running for a week, with the latest group of celebrities swapping their luxurious lifestyles for basic jungle living. Tensions rose for the first time during Saturday night's episode (November 23), which saw late arrivals Maura Higgins and Richard Coles join the main camp. The mood soured when Dean McCullough and Alan Halsall clashed. After feasting on a large portion of junk food won by Maura and Richard through a secret task and a stomach-churning eating challenge, a sleepy Dean decided to take a nap. This coincided with chores needing to be done; Jane Moore went to collect firewood and reluctantly admitted due to camp rules: "I can't do it on my own". Alan noticed Jane leaving alone and sprang into action, choosing to wake Dean from his sleep to help. As Dean, groggy and confused from being woken up, barely reacted to Alan's question, "You don't fancy it? No? ", the Coronation Street actor joined Jane, ensuring she wasn't left to fend for herself, reports the Express . Following the incident, but clearly still feeling the effects, Dean walked over to Alan and Jane, specifically telling Alan, "You can go back now." Alan tried to justify his actions by stating: "I was trying to wake you up as soft as I could." This led Dean to sharply respond: "Listen to me. If you're gonna wake me up, you need to give me a minute, alright? It takes a couple of minutes for my contact lenses to get back working again, alright, so you don't need to turn around to me and say 'do you not fancy it? ' ok? And then turn around and walk away." Alan, attempting to explain further, said, "I've listened to you, Jane was halfway down here, that's why I went...", which Dean interrupted with, "Ok I get that but you need to give me a minute mate." The dispute continued to unfold. Dean later vented to the Bush Telegraph: "I opened my eyes and wee Tyrone from Coronation Street is like: 'Come on, mate, you need to go down to the bottom of the creek'." He elaborated on the disagreement by adding: "He didn't even give me a chance to say yes or no because he went: 'You don't fancy it? No? ' and ran. He was being a real camp leader. I was like: 'Whoa, whoa, whoa don't dig me out like that.' And I had to say to him: 'If you're going to say: 'Don't fancy it? ' - give me a chance'. Because, of course, I fancy it. I want to help Jane. I went straight down and helped her." Later, Dean was seen offering Jane an apology before helping to bring firewood back to the camp. Alan reflected privately in his Bush Telegraph, saying, "It was a flippant comment, I'm sorry if you took it in the wrong way. Wasn't actually meant like that, it was just a bit of a joke. If I was asleep and you woke me up, I won't fancy it either." Despite the reconciliation, viewers are already speculating that Dean will be the first to leave following his clash with fellow camper Alan. Social media was ablaze with commentary from fans, one of whom posted: "Dean's just earned himself the first elimination I think #ImACeleb." Another viewer echoed the sentiment, tweeting: "So that's Dean being voted out first #ImACeleb #imacelebrity @imacelebrity." Some spectators believe Dean might choose to exit the show, as one Twitter user expressed: "Hopefully Dean McCullough will walk out, he's insufferable. #ImACeleb." The sentiment continued, with another adding: "Honestly isn't it time for Dean to walk yet? He's made himself look horrible this episode #ImACeleb," and someone asserting: "Mark my words Dean will be the first to walk."
