Mchezo is a regional company that invests in the future of sports and technology in Africa. One of the firm’s legacy projects is Mchezo’s Locker Room Bonus initiative which rewards players of the winning team with a financial bonus that is paid directly to their mobile wallets. Sponsors may be hesitant to invest more in women’s sports due to perceived lower audience appeal. However, stakeholders are thinking differently as far as women’s empowerment in sports is concerned. Ntoudi Mouyelo, the Managing Director of Mchezo, believes increasing popularity of the women’s sports through sports sponsorships is a befitting vector for bolstering brand loyalty. As a corporate, we have been investing more in women’s sports in the region, simply for one factor, women give us more value to our sponsorship than men. And there are sports for which we are starting with women now, so again, if there are women federations that have interest, please come to us. The statistics are there, and I do believe that there are more women than the youth in East Africa. At Mchezo, we do give the same support to women and men in terms of bonus and awards. Ntoudi was speaking during the Round Table stakeholder conference at the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa which is one of the venues hosting the ongoing 14th East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Games (EAC-IPG). Diana Mayaka from the Basketball Referees Association, on her part, echoed Ntoudi’s sentiments saying: “Women have not gotten equal treatment in terms of sponsorship opportunities in sports over the years. In events, men usually get more in terms of prize money. This is a discussion we have been having over time,” Mayaka added. “As for the government, they are trying as much as possible to ensure that all genders are treated the same. The government facilitates education to athletes, staff and coaches to empower them so that they can continue growing the sport and this benefits women as well.” Kanini Kega, the Chairman of the 2024 Inter-Parliamentary Games noted that the regional extravaganza has gone a long way in enhancing cooperation among the regional countries. Kanini said: “Through sports and these games, we are able to integrate with each other. With these sports, we have seen that our people are able to communicate with each other. We are able to remove the physical borders that were created by our colonial masters, to make sure that we feel part of one community, which is the East African community.” “The same thrill and feel is seen when any one of us competes at national level. For instance, when Kenyans and Ugandans are running marathons at the global arena, we as East Africans feel as one family,” Kanini added. Mchezo is a regional company that invests in the future of sports and technology in Africa. Mouyelo has led the company’s efforts to partner with sports federations to ensure that sponsorship benefits go directly to athletes. One of the firm’s legacy projects is Mchezo’s Locker Room Bonus initiative which rewards players of the winning team with a financial bonus that is paid directly to their mobile wallets.Ultimately, the exposure of the virtual live streaming industry chain by CCTV serves as a wake-up call for both creators and audiences alike. Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy have been appointed by US President- elect Donald Trump to lead the newly announced Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), aimed at significantly reducing the federal workforce and eliminating numerous regulations. USA Today reported that in a recent op-ed for the Wall Street Journal, they eventually argued that the anticipated reduction in regulations would necessitate fewer federal employees, suggesting large-scale firings and relocations of agencies outside Washington DC. According to USA Today, the duo contends that Donald Trump has the executive authority to nullify many regulations without congressional approval while citing the recent Supreme Court rulings that support their claims. They plan to work with appointees within federal agencies to identify the minimum staffing required for essential functions. Although DOGE is eventually described as a department but it operates more like an advisory commission without formal authority, asserted USA Today. Both Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy did not specify how many employees could be cut but emphasized that those affected would be treated respectfully during their transition to private sector jobs, noted USA Today. They also suggested that requiring federal workers to return to in-person work could eventually lead to voluntary resignations. FAQs: Who are being appointed by Donald Trump to lead the DOGE? Suspect in the killing of UnitedHealthcare’s CEO struggles, shouts while entering courthouse ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) — The suspect in the killing of UnitedHealthcare’s CEO struggled with deputies and shouted while arriving for a court appearance in Pennsylvania a day after he was arrested at a McDonald’s and charged with murder. Luigi Nicholas Mangione emerged from a patrol car, spun toward reporters and shouted something partly unintelligible while deputies pushed him inside Tuesday. At the brief hearing, the defense lawyer informed the court that Mangione would not waive extradition to New York but instead wants a hearing on the issue. Mangione was denied bail. Brian Thompson, who led the United States’ largest medical insurance company, was killed last Wednesday as he walked alone to a Manhattan hotel for an investor conference. Key details about the man accused of killing of UnitedHealthcare's CEO The 26-year-old man charged in last week’s killing of UnitedHealthcare’s CEO in New York City has appeared in a Pennsylvania courtroom. Luigi Nicholas Mangione was arrested Monday after a worker at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania, notified police that he resembled the suspect in the killing last Wednesday of Brian Thompson. While being led into court to be arraigned Tuesday, Mangione shouted something that was partly unintelligible but referred to an “insult to the intelligence of the American people.” During the hearing, Mangione was denied bail and his attorney said Mangione would not waive extradition. DA suggests unusual idea for halting Trump’s hush money case while upholding his conviction NEW YORK (AP) — Prosecutors are trying to preserve President-elect Donald Trump’s hush money conviction as he returns to office, and they're suggesting various ways forward. One novel notion is based on how some courts handle criminal cases when defendants die. In court papers made public on Tuesday, the Manhattan district attorney’s office proposed an array of options for keeping the historic conviction on the books. The proposals included freezing the case until he’s out of office, or agreeing that any future sentence wouldn’t include jail time. Another idea: closing the case with a notation that acknowledges his conviction but says that he was never sentenced and that his appeal wasn’t resolved because of presidential immunity. There's no immediate response from Trump's lawyers. Middle East latest: Israel bombs hundreds of sites across Syria as army pushes into border zone Israel says it bombed more than 350 military sites in Syria during the previous 48 hours, targeting “most of the strategic weapons stockpiles” in the country. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the wave of strikes was necessary to keep the weapons from being used against Israel following the Syrian government’s stunning collapse. Israel also acknowledged its troops were pushing into a border buffer zone inside Syria, which was established after the 1973 Mideast war. However, Israel denied its forces were advancing Tuesday toward the Syrian capital of Damascus. Life in the capital was slowly returning to normal. People celebrated for a third day in a main square, and shops and banks reopened. Republican-led states are rolling out plans that could aid Trump's mass deportation effort JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Governors and lawmakers in Republican-led states are rolling out plans that could aid President-elect Donald Trump's effort to deport millions of people living in the U.S. illegally. A growing number of states are proposing legislation to give local law officers the power to arrest people in the country illegally. Other legislation filed ahead of next year's sessions would require law enforcement agencies to notify federal immigration officials when they take someone into custody who is in the country illegally. This is even if the charges are unrelated to their immigration status. Some Democratic-led states already are talking about how to resist some of Trump's immigration policies. Task force probing attempts to kill Trump urges Secret Service to limit protection of foreigners WASHINGTON (AP) — A task force looking into the assassination attempts against Donald Trump during his presidential campaign is recommending changes to the Secret Service. These include protecting fewer foreign leaders during the height of the election season and considering moving the agency out of the Department of Homeland Security. The 180-page report was released Tuesday. It constitutes one of the most detailed looks so far into the July 13 assassination attempt against Trump during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania and a second one in Florida two months later. South Korea's ex-defense minister is formally arrested over brief imposition of martial law SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — South Korea's previous defense minister has been formally arrested over his alleged collusion with President Yoon Suk Yeol and others in imposing martial law last week. Kim Yong Hyun resigned last week and has been detained since Sunday. He is the first person arrested in the case. Prosecutors have up to 20 days to determine whether to indict him. A conviction on the charge of playing a key role in rebellion carries the maximum death sentence. Kim is accused of recommending martial law to Yoon and sending troops to the National Assembly to block lawmakers from voting on it. Homes burn as wind-driven wildfire prompts evacuations in Malibu, California MALIBU, Calif. (AP) — Thousands of Southern California residents are under evacuation orders and warnings as firefighters battle a wind-driven wildfire in Malibu. The flames burned near seaside mansions and Pepperdine University, where students sheltering at the school’s library on Monday night watched as the blaze intensified. Officials on Tuesday said a “minimal number” of homes burned, but the exact amount wasn’t immediately known. More than 8,100 homes and other structures are under threat, including more than 2,000 where residents have been ordered to evacuate. Pepperdine University on Tuesday morning said the worst of the fire has pushed past campus. It was not immediately known how the blaze started. More beans and less red meat: Nutritionists weigh in on US dietary guidelines Americans should eat more beans, peas and lentils and cut back on red and processed meats and starchy vegetables. That's advice from a panel of expert nutritionists charged with counseling the U.S. government about the next edition of the dietary guidelines. The panel did not weigh in on the growing role of ultraprocessed foods that have been linked to health problems or alcohol use. But they did say people should continue to limit added sugars, sodium and saturated fat in pursuit of a healthy diet. Tuesday’s recommendations now go to federal officials, who will draft the final guidance set for release next year. Trustee over Infowars auction asks court to approve The Onion's winning bid A trustee who oversaw the bankruptcy auction of Alex Jones’ Infowars is asking a judge to approve The Onion’s winning bid for the conspiracy-filled platform. Trustee Christopher Murray took the stand Tuesday in the second day of testimony at a hearing where a judge is scrutinizing the satirical news outlet’s winning offer. He told U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Christopher Lopez in Houston that he was there asking a court to approve the sale of Infowars’ parent company to The Onion’s parent company. It is not clear how quickly Lopez will rule. The Onion wants to turn Infowars’ website and social media accounts into parodies.

Shares of Broadcom ( AVGO 5.87% ) rallied 5.3% on Monday, as of 1:18 p.m. ET. Broadcom received a bullish note and price target upgrade from a Wall Street sell-side analyst today, building upon the blowout 2027 guidance management gave on the company's recent earnings call. UBS ups its target to $270 On Monday, UBS analyst Timothy Arcuri raised his target on Broadcom from $220 to $270 per share, while maintaining his bullish stance on the name. Broadcom's stock had recently hit Arcuri's price target, which usually prompts an analyst to either downgrade the stock based on valuation or readjust their price target higher. Arcuri chose the latter, saying, "After reviewing Broadcom's serviceable-addressable-market disclosures and reassessing likely outcomes for its custom compute and AI-networking businesses, we are raising our AI revenue estimates." Arcuri's team specifically raised their 2026 earnings per share (EPS) estimates on Broadcom by 20%, but perhaps more importantly, raised their 2027 EPS estimates by a whopping 40%. Arcuri likely had Broadcom's artificial intelligence (AI)-related revenue decelerating in those out years after tremendous growth in 2024 and likely in 2025. This is because as a business grows larger, it's harder to post very high growth rates due to the law of large numbers . However, Broadcom guided to a stunning $60 billion to $90 billion in AI-related revenues in 2027, up from just $12.2 billion in its recently completed fiscal 2024. That seemed to indicate the AI transition will mean higher growth rates for longer than many might have imagined. "Could be conservative"? Arcuri noted that his estimates "could be conservative" if Broadcom lands more customers for its custom ASIC (applications-specific integrated chip) segment, which builds parts of AI ASICs designed by large tech companies. In recent days, one tech publication pointed to Apple potentially working with Broadcom on a custom server chip named Baltra for Apple Intelligence workloads. If that comes to pass, the 2027 $60 billion to $90 billion addressable market could expand significantly.

CENTURION: South Africa tailenders Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen hung in against relentless fast bowler Mohammad Abbas for a tense two-wicket win in the first test on Sunday to seal the Proteas' place in next year's World Test Championship final. Jansen (16 not out) overshadowed Abbas' brilliant figures of 6-54 with a square driven boundary against the fast bowler as South Africa reached 150-8 just after lunch on Day 4 and escaped with a close win in the opener of the two-match series. “Quite an emotional moment for me, good advert for test cricket,” said South Africa captain Temba Bavuma, who made 40. “We haven't been ruthless but have found a way to ensure the result was on our side. Lot of joy and happiness on our side, a bit of a rollercoaster, glad that we were able to get the result.” Abbas, making a comeback after more than three years in the test wilderness, had knocked back South Africa's tricky chase of 148 runs in a marathon 13-over spell before lunch on Day 4 as the home team limped to 99-8, losing four wickets for three runs. However, Rabada changed gears in an unbroken 51-run stand with Jansen and made an unbeaten 31 off 26 balls with five fours to seal a memorable victory and denied Pakistan its first test win in South Africa in almost 18 years. South Africa had started this WTC cycle with a 1-1 drawn series against India before getting swept 2-0 in New Zealand. But since then the Proteas have beaten West Indies, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to stay on top of the table. “It (WTC final) is a big one, not just for myself but also the team and the coach," Bavuma said. "The way we started our campaign, against India and then New Zealand with a not-so-strong team, and the way we have gone through with our performances, not many gave us a chance.” India, Australia and Sri Lanka are the other teams still in contention for next June's WTC final against South Africa at Lord's. Captain Temba Bavuma (40) and Aiden Markram (37) had thwarted Abbas for an hour after South Africa resumed at a wobbly 27-3, still needing 121 for victory. Bavuma's controversial dismissal punctuated a South Africa collapse in the latter half of first session with Abbas grabbing three off his six balls in a sensational home team collapse. Bavuma, who made 40, surprisingly didn't request a television review when replays suggested that Abbas' ball had brushed the batter's pocket and didn't make contact with the inside edge of the bat but the South African skipper walked back to the dressing room. Abbas bowled an unchanged marathon spell of 13 overs, but had to wait as Markram and Bavuma saw off eight overs from the fast bowlers. Resuming at 27-3, Bavuma and Markram showed plenty of patience against Abbas' probing line and length before the fast bowler finally got the breakthrough after the first drinks break. Abbas was rewarded for his brilliant seam bowling when he beat the outside edge of Markram's bat and knocked back the off stump. Bavuma survived a couple of close chances when he successfully overturned an on-field lbw decision against him early in the day and Naseem Shah couldn't hold onto a sharp catch at fine leg as he overstepped the boundary cushion while grabbing the ball over his head. South Africa had controlled the game at 96-4 before Bavuma's dismissal saw Abbas finding the outside edges of David Bedingham (14) and Corbin Bosch's (0) bat off successive deliveries and in between Kyle Verreynne dragged Naseem Shah's delivery back onto his stumps. Abbas found the outside edge of Rabada's bat in his first over after lunch that fell just short of wicketkeeper Rizwan before both tailenders took the team home. “Extremely proud of the efforts, but going forward we need to be ruthless,” Pakistan captain Shan Masood said. “We keep making the same mistakes but we have to get over the line, seize moments.” The second test begins at Cape Town on Friday.Blockmate Ventures Announces Closing Of Strategic Investment And Incentive Grant

French President Emmanuel Macron’s office has announced a new government, after the previous Cabinet collapsed in a historic vote prompted by fighting over the country’s budget. Newly named Prime Minister Francois Bayrou put together the government that includes members of the outgoing conservative-dominated team and some new figures from centrist or left-leaning backgrounds. Coming up with a 2025 budget will be the most urgent order of business. The new government enters office after months of political deadlock and pressure from financial markets to reduce France’s colossal debt. Mr Macron has vowed to remain in office until his term ends in 2027, but has struggled to govern since snap elections in the summer left no single party with a majority in the National Assembly. Since his appointment 10 days ago, Mr Bayrou has held talks with political leaders from various parties in search of the right balance for the new government. Some critics were angry at Mr Bayrou for consulting with Marine Le Pen’s far-right party, and some argue the government looks too much like the old one to win the trust of politicians. Former prime minister Michel Barnier resigned this month following a no-confidence vote prompted by budget disputes in the National Assembly, leaving France without a functioning government. Ms Le Pen played a key role in Mr Barnier’s downfall by joining her National Rally party’s forces with the left to pass the no-confidence motion. Mr Bayrou will need support from moderate legislators on the right and left to keep his government alive. Banker Eric Lombard will be finance minister, a crucial post when France is working to fulfil its promises to European Union partners to reduce its deficit, estimated to reach 6% of its gross domestic product this year. Mr Lombard briefly worked as an adviser to a socialist finance minister in the 1990s. Mr Bayrou has said he supports tax hikes championed by his predecessor, but it is not clear how the new government can find the right calculation for a budget that satisfies a majority of politicians angry over spending cuts. Bruno Retailleau stays on as interior minister, with responsibility for France’s security and migration policy. Sebastien Lecornu, who has been at the forefront of France’s military support for Ukraine, remains defence minister, while foreign minister Jean-Noel Barrot, who has travelled extensively in the Middle East in recent weeks, also retains his post. Among the new faces are two former prime ministers. Manuel Valls will be minister for overseas affairs, and Elisabeth Borne takes the education ministry.Suspect in UnitedHealthcare CEO killing charged with murder in New York, court records show

NoneSEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks rode their dominant defense to a big win over a division rival to vault into first place in the NFC West. No, it isn’t 2013. These are the 2024 Seahawks, who, after struggling mightily against the run earlier this season, held the visiting Arizona Cardinals to 49 rushing yards in Sunday's 16-6 victory . The defensive line kept Kyler Murray under consistent pressure thanks to a dominant performance from Leonard Williams, the secondary flew around to smack away passes, and safety Coby Bryant scored on a 69-yard pick-6. Sunday's defensive performance was reminiscent of the Seahawks of a decade ago and a promising sign that first-year coach Mike Macdonald’s system is starting to click. Macdonald, who coordinated Baltimore's NFL-best defense last year, was leading one of the worst rush defenses in the league earlier this season. But Seattle consistently stuffed the Cardinals, who came in as the fifth-best running team in the league at 149.4 yards per game. “Three games in a row now we played pretty decent on defense,” Macdonald said. “There is an expectation and standard here throughout the course of our Seahawks history that we’re trying to live up to and build on. So that’s the idea.” At 6-5, the Seahawks drew even with the Cardinals in the tightly bunched division. The teams play each other again in two weeks at Arizona. Last month's trade for linebacker Ernest Jones IV has clearly paid off. Seattle hasn't allowed a running back to rush for more than 79 yards since its Week 8 loss to Buffalo, which was Jones' first game in a Seahawks uniform. He has led the team in tackles in every game he's played and has helped resurrect the run defense. The Seahawks' run game continues to underperform. Seattle got 65 yards on the ground Sunday, with the Cardinals holding Kenneth Walker III to 41 yards on 16 attempts. Zach Charbonnet had 22 yards on six carries. Walker hasn’t topped 100 yards since Week 1. Offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb needs to think of something different to get the running backs involved. Williams single-handedly disrupted the Cardinals with 2 1/2 sacks, four quarterback hits, three tackles for loss and one pass defensed. “I thought he was dominant,” Macdonald said. “I knew he played great and then I looked at the stat line and he played out of his mind.” The Seahawks finished with five sacks, seven quarterback hits, five tackles for loss and six pass deflections against the Cardinals, shutting down a team that had averaged 29.3 points over its previous three games. Geno Smith finished with 254 yards passing and a touchdown, but he threw another momentum-stalling interception. Smith was picked off on a third-and-6 play on the Arizona 18-yard line at the start of the fourth quarter, ending an 11-play, 73-yard drive. Smith has an NFL-most 12 interceptions this season, more than in either of his previous two seasons as the Seahawks' full-time starter. “That was a huge drive for us. ... Obviously made a terrible mistake down there, something I got to clean up,” Smith said. “But it was a big drive. We wanted to put the game ahead at least two scores.” The offensive line has contributed to the problem. Guard Anthony Bradford left with an ankle injury, and the line struggled to protect Smith, who was sacked five times. Macdonald said Bradford is expected to miss next week's game. 77 — Jaxon Smith-Njigba led the team with six catches for 77 yards and a touchdown, marking the fourth consecutive game that Smith-Njigba has led the team in receptions. He topped 100 yards receiving in the previous two games. “He’s getting open,” Smith said. “He’s catching the ball. He’s doing a great job in the screen game. All-around great player. I just think the way that teams are playing us coverage-wise, I feel like it’s the ultimate sign of respect.” The Seahawks play at the struggling New York Jets on Sunday. Hunter numbers, success down in northeastern MontanaDonald Trump could become the first elected politician in modern history to be hosted for two state visits to the UK. Downing Street and the Foreign Office are said to be preparing another state visit invite to Trump after his election win once he takes office in January, the Telegraph reported. The visit is said to be part of a strategy by the Sir Keir Starmer’s government to use Trump’s admiration for the monarchy to forge a close personal relationship between him and the Republican president-elect. A senior Whitehall source told the paper: “[Mr Trump] loves the Royal Family . Look at the fact he’s had his own photo album made of the last visit. Why wouldn’t we want a repeat?” Sources told the paper that no detailed discussions on the timing of the visit had yet been had. However it would likely be in 2026, because of King Charles’ schedule if it were to go ahead. It is unprecedented in modern times for an elected leader to be invited on a state visit to the UK twice , although sovereigns of other countries have been invited more than once. These include Queen Margrethe of Denmark, who was given a state visit to the UK in 1974 and 2000 and King Olav of Norway, who visited in 1963 and again in 1988. Trump received a grand state visit to the UK in 2019, hosted by the late Queen, with commentators saying at the time it was unlikely he would be invited to make a second one. The royal family plays a key part in the UK-US special relationship and Trump has previously voiced his love of the monarchy. In a clip released earlier this year, the 78-year-old praised King Charles as a “really good person”. The footage was released as part of former Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s docu-series Art of The Surge, and was filmed between Trump’s campaign rallies. Pointing to an image of him and his wife Melania alongside the late Queen in the clip, he said: “This is with Queen Elizabeth, who was fantastic, by the way.” “These images - I mean, who has images like this? And these were relationships, too.” He then pointed to an image of him and his wife Melania with Charles and Camilla. “It’s a piece of history at the highest level,” he added. “Hopefully he’s going to be well, because he’s a really good person. Camilla is fantastic. You get to know them so well.”

Xavier aims to rebound from a tough week and get one more critical tune-up for a rivalry matchup when it hosts Morgan State on Tuesday night in Cincinnati. The Musketeers (7-2) were ranked No. 22 in the AP poll two weeks ago but fell out after a 25-point loss to Michigan in the Fort Myers Tip-Off tournament final on Nov. 27. Xavier then barely escaped with a 71-68 home win over South Carolina State on Dec. 1 before losing 76-72 at TCU on Thursday. Dante Maddox Jr. came off the bench to score nine points in 20 minutes on three 3-pointers against the Horned Frogs. He also grabbed six rebounds before fouling out. The Musketeers have been waiting for the Toledo transfer to add a punch to an underwhelming bench cast that many thought would be a strength for Xavier coming into the season. "I really feel like you can almost be baited into a false sense of how deep your team is because you're around guys every day and have a good, older group, which we do," Musketeers coach Sean Miller said. "You see the good in a lot of different guys. It's not until you get 8 to 10, 10 to 15 games in when you truly understand how deep your team is." Maddox hit a 3-pointer and started a fastbreak with a steal that gave Xavier a 60-54 lead with 7:28 remaining, but the Musketeers faded down the stretch and lost for the second time in three games. Maddox is averaging 4.7 points per game, while Ryan Conwell leads the team with 16.6. Tuesday's game will be the last chance for Xavier to straighten up before visiting No. 22 Cincinnati on Saturday for the teams' annual intense crosstown showdown. Morgan State (5-7) is coming off a 102-81 road loss at Bowling Green on Saturday. Preseason All-MEAC First Team selection Will Thomas led the Bears with 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field, while Kameron Hobbs scored 12 points off the bench. Amahrie Simpkins made all five of his field-goal attempts to add 11 points and Wynston Tabbs had 10 points, six rebounds and six assists. Tabbs leads Morgan State in scoring this season at 16.8 points per game, while Simpkins (12.8) and Thomas (12.2) round out the Bears' double-digit scorers. The Bears have struggled away from home, losing all five road contests this season. --Field Level MediaRosen Law Firm Encourages Zeta Global Holdings Corp. It’s been years since my last time skiing, a sport I learned late in life. I’ve traveled with pals for getaways to ski the slopes of both Utah and Colorado. Closer to home, our farm friends the Wappels, Debbie and Larry, who live just down the road, have often talked about a Michigan mountain ski resort much closer. Boyne Mountain Resort, located five hours to the north in tiny Boyne Falls, Michigan, is a destination I’ve also heard described by my longtime editor Crista Zivanovic, who skied there years ago with husband Jim after they married. It was in 1947 when Michigan Sen. William Pearson entertained the idea of Detroit businessman Everett Kircher to purchase 40 mountainous wooded acres to create his vision to build Boyne Resorts. Sen. Pearson found the idea ridiculous, offering to make the proposed sale of acreage for just $1 and his now famous retort: “Anybody damn fool enough to want to build a ski hill? I’ll just give you the property.” What was unveiled for the opening launch was just one ski run with a single chairlift and a small warming hut. Today, the still family-owned property offers nine lodging options, multiple dining destinations, a mini Alpine village, an 88,000-square-foot indoor waterpark, seven terrain parks and 60 runs with a total of 500 vertical feet. In early November, I drove up for a quick day visit to Boyne Resort, pre-ski season, and discovered it continues to remain an iconic tourist attraction known for its innovation and “firsts.” When the ski attraction first opened, the owners acquired the first chairlift ever built, originally created for the legendary Sun Valley Resort in Idaho (constructed by the Union Pacific Railroad in 1936 for what was then its new resort in Sun Valley). The lift was dissembled and moved to Boyne Mountain, where portions of the original parts and pieces and components are still in use today. Between 1948 and 1992, Boyne Mountain ranked as the innovator in chairlifts, unveiling the world’s first triple-passenger chairlift in 1963, then the world’s first quad chairlift in 1965 and the country’s first six-passenger chairlift in 1992. Details and further history are included at www.boyneresorts.com and www.boynemountain.com . Something added and unveiled in October 2022 is the new SkyBridge Michigan at the top of Boyne Mountain. In the fall, it’s intended to give an unmatched view of fall’s changing foliage. During winter months, the bridge is ablaze in holiday lights. At 1,200 feet in length, it ranks as the world’s longest timber-towered suspension bridge. Nestled amidst the picturesque peaks of McLouth and Disciples Ridge at Boyne Mountain Resort, SkyBridge Michigan continues lit in holiday splendor through Feb. 28. Beaming designs by Zoro’s Lights of Livonia, Michigan, this pedestrian bridge boasts more than 200,000 twinkling lights, which is an increase of 50,000 lights from last year I’m told. While during the day resort guests dine, ice skate and enjoy zip-lining, by night, it’s the photo ops across the bridge and the scenic surroundings that capture attention at the 118-foot-high walking bridge. The Boyne Mountain Annual Holiday Open House on Dec. 14 has free activities and live entertainment with contrasting hosts Santa paired with the Grinch, as well as bonfires and special holiday treats. A March 8, 1937 Life magazine touts the first ski chair lift, as displayed in the Stein Eriksen restaurant at Boyne Mountain Resort in Boyne Falls, Michigan. (Philip Potempa/for Post-Tribune) Boyne Resort also includes a namesake restaurant located in the village clock tower building christened decades ago in honor of Olympic skier Stein Eriksen, the alpine ski racer and Olympic gold medalist from Norway and star at the 1952 Winter Olympics held in Are, Sweden. Following his racing career, Eriksen became a ski instructor at Sun Valley Resort and then in 1955 at Boyne Mountain Resort. This year, at both Christmas and New Year’s Eve, Boyne Resort is offering a special holiday-themed multi-course menu event hosted at Erikeon’s namesake restaurant. Eriksen died at age 88 in December 2015. Boyne Resort founder Everett Kircher died in January 2002 at the age of 85. Today the resort is owned and operated by his son Stephen Kircher, 61, continuing his father’s legacy. Olympic legend Stein Eriksen loved recipes with fresh salmon and also venison. Personally, I’ve never been partial to deer meat, since I wasn’t raised on it and my mom never cared for it. With deer season now in full bluster around our farm, the sound of hunters is heard often in the distance. Last weekend, my 24-year-old great-nephew Landen (grandson of my oldest sister Carol) snagged a very large 4-year-old buck with a 10-point antler rack and a weight tipping the scales at more than 200 pounds. All of the deer meat will be processed and used, especially for venison sausage, which my 95-year-old dad Chester loves. Venison is the key protein in the chili recipe of Stein Eriksen shared here today, which ranked as his favorite way to warm up and satisfy his appetite while on the slopes. Columnist Philip Potempa has published four cookbooks and is the director of marketing at Theatre at the Center. By TRÂN NGUYỄN SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California, home to some of the largest technology companies in the world, would be the first U.S. state to require mental health warning labels on social media sites if lawmakers pass a bill introduced Monday. The legislation sponsored by state Attorney General Rob Bonta is necessary to bolster safety for children online, supporters say, but industry officials vow to fight the measure and others like it under the First Amendment. Warning labels for social media gained swift bipartisan support from dozens of attorneys general, including Bonta, after U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy called on Congress to establish the requirements earlier this year, saying social media is a contributing factor in the mental health crisis among young people. “These companies know the harmful impact their products can have on our children, and they refuse to take meaningful steps to make them safer,” Bonta said at a news conference Monday. “Time is up. It’s time we stepped in and demanded change.” State officials haven’t provided details on the bill, but Bonta said the warning labels could pop up once weekly. Up to 95% of youth ages 13 to 17 say they use a social media platform, and more than a third say that they use social media “almost constantly,” according to 2022 data from the Pew Research Center. Parents’ concerns prompted Australia to pass the world’s first law banning social media for children under 16 in November. “The promise of social media, although real, has turned into a situation where they’re turning our children’s attention into a commodity,” Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan, who authored the California bill, said Monday. “The attention economy is using our children and their well-being to make money for these California companies.” Lawmakers instead should focus on online safety education and mental health resources, not warning label bills that are “constitutionally unsound,” said Todd O’Boyle, a vice president of the tech industry policy group Chamber of Progress. “We strongly suspect that the courts will set them aside as compelled speech,” O’Boyle told The Associated Press. Victoria Hinks’ 16-year-old daughter, Alexandra, died by suicide four months ago after being “led down dark rabbit holes” on social media that glamorized eating disorders and self-harm. Hinks said the labels would help protect children from companies that turn a blind eye to the harm caused to children’s mental health when they become addicted to social media platforms. “There’s not a bone in my body that doubts social media played a role in leading her to that final, irreversible decision,” Hinks said. “This could be your story.” Related Articles National News | Biden creates Native American boarding school national monument to mark era of forced assimilation National News | How should the opioid settlements be spent? California in the past decade has positioned itself as a leader in regulating and fighting the tech industry to bolster online safety for children. The state was the first in 2022 to bar online platforms from using users’ personal information in ways that could harm children. It was one of the states that sued Meta in 2023 and TikTok in October for deliberately designing addictive features that keep kids hooked on their platforms. Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, also signed several bills in September to help curb the effects of social media on children, including one to prohibit social media platforms from knowingly providing addictive feeds to children without parental consent and one to limit or ban students from using smartphones on school campus. Federal lawmakers have held hearings on child online safety and legislation is in the works to force companies to take reasonable steps to prevent harm. The legislation has the support of X owner Elon Musk and the President-elect’s son, Donald Trump Jr . Still, the last federal law aimed at protecting children online was enacted in 1998, six years before Facebook’s founding.'Best practices': calls for 2025 to be the year of accessible tourism

Gary O’Neil accepts criticism from Wolves fans after heavy defeat at EvertonIt was the fourth time this season they had conceded four or more and the performance showed why they have the Premier League’s worst defence. When O’Neil and the players went over to acknowledge the visiting supporters there were boos for a run of two wins in 14 league matches. “Whatever the fans think of me, there is definitely no-none working harder than me and I will continue to do so until someone tells me not to,” said O’Neil, who is under increasing pressure with his side second bottom of the table. “I go over there to see them because I appreciate every one of the Wolves fans. They have given me unbelievable support since I arrived at the football club,” he said. “We managed to produce some unbelievable stuff last season with a team that was heavily tipped by most of the nation for relegation. We managed to enjoy it together. “Now it is tough. I was happy to go over there and look them right in the face and take any criticism they want to throw at me. “I accept responsibility for my part in that. Whatever criticism they want to throw at me will not change how I feel about them. “Everyone at this football club needs to do more. We will get back to be ready to fight again on Monday (another crucial game against West Ham, whose manager Julen Lopetegui’s tenure is hanging by a thread). “I will work with everything I have. I will back myself to get the most out of the group. I understand the drive for change (but) you never know how much of a percentage of supporters it is.” Veteran Ashley Young ended Everton’s 370-minute wait for a goal with a 10th-minute free-kick, his first league goal for more than two years, and on-loan Lyon midfielder Orel Mangala blasted home his first for the club to establish a 2-0 half-time lead. Two Craig Dawson own goals secured Everton’s biggest home league win since April 2019, but manager Sean Dyche insisted their issues up front were far from sorted. He said: “It’s our fifth clean sheet in the last eight so the consistency has been there in one degree, we just haven’t been scoring goals. That’s been the hardest thing to find consistently and we haven’t solved it yet. “Goals change everything, they change opinions. That’s what football is like.” The victory was hugely important in a month in which, having been hammered 4-0 at Manchester United, they face top-six sides Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Nottingham Forest and undoubtedly eased some of the pressure on Dyche and his players. “I’ve told them how proud I am of them,” he added. “The challenges come thick and fast on and off the pitch and they just keep going. “It’s only a step and there are many more to go but it’s a good step and a positive step. “It’s a temporary moment in time because the next one is a big one (Saturday’s Merseyside derby).”BENNINGTON – Mike Bethel, a local advocate on a number of issues and a frequent critic of the town’s efforts to spur the local economy, is the latest to announce a run for the Select Board in the March 2025 election. Bethel was also clear Wednesday about his agenda if elected: He will oppose the ongoing $50 million Benn Hi redevelopment project; stress private business initiatives over those of nonprofit groups, and seek to balance what he sees as “left-leaning” decisions by the current Select Board. He also would encourage Town Manager Stuart Hurd and Assistant Town Manager Dan Monks to retire from their jobs to clear the way for significant change in the town office staff – one he said should focus on being more business friendly. With at least openings on the seven-person board next March, several residents are rumored to be considering a run. The terms of Chair Jeannie Jenkins, Jeanne Conner and Tom Haley expire in 2025, and Jenkins and Conner have indicated they won’t seek another term after six years on the board. Earlier this week, residents Martha Mackey and Jack Rossiter-Munley announced they are running as a team for the board. The early activity is well in advance of the January 27 deadline for candidates to file nomination papers with at least 30 voter signatures for the March 4 election. “We have people on the board that don’t want to face reality,” Bethel said. “Reality is that people in Bennington are hurting financially. The businesses downtown are hurting financially.” The town doesn’t “have anybody in the town hall that concentrates on businesses,” he said. “If I get on the board, I want a new town staff. I would like Stu Hurd, who I admire, to retire, and also Dan Monks. We need to set people up that are going to concentrate on businesses, not nonprofits.” The Putnam Block project, Bethel said, “has taken way too long. The Benn Hi project [estimate] went from $20 million to now $50 million. I don’t think that will ever get off the ground. I think it is a stupid project. We need to concentrate on the people who live here.” He added, “I want change on the board. And I am not against these two young people running for the board [Mackey and Rossiter-Munley], but I think they are going to be too far to the left, and I am center-right politically. “I want more things done,” he said. “I’m tired of waiting around. And we don’t have anyone recruiting business.” He continued, “We’ve got to raise the grand list the right way,” referring to a nonprofit organization recently purchasing the former People’s Bank branch on Main Street, which Bethel said would likely take that property off the tax rolls. Bethel contended that “Bennington is always announcing that it’s poor,” which he said leads to initiatives like the Bennington Community Market. The market received grant funding in part to address a perceived “food desert” situation in the downtown area that alleged limited grocery or other food options – a contention Bethel rejects as untrue. “Things like that bother me and I want change,” he said, adding that “the way to do that is to elect new people on the Select Board." Bethel has run unsuccessfully for the Select Board at least three times in past elections, in 2018, 2019 and 2021. He also has been a leader in several town or school district referendum initiatives since at least the early 2000s, including three attempts – in 2018, 2019 and 2020 - to establish a mayoral form of government in Bennington, all of which were rejected in town voters. Bethel said he still sees a mayoral format a better option for the town, especially in terms of spurring economic development.Saturday’s games Los Angeles Chargers (-4) at New England: The Chargers would clinch a wild-card spot with a victory over the Patriots, who battled hard against the Bills. Los Angeles is 9-2 against the spread as favorites. Justin Herbert is 9-0 ATS in the Eastern time zone in his career. The Patriots have lost eight straight home games in December. BEST BET: CHARGERS: 23-16 Denver at Cincinnati (-3): Joe Burrow and the Bengals have to win to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. They’re favorites for the 12th time this season despite a losing record. The Broncos would clinch a wild-card berth with a win. UPSET SPECIAL: BRONCOS: 23-22 Arizona at Los Angeles Rams (-6): A four-game winning streak has the Rams on the verge of securing the NFC West. Los Angeles aims to avenge a lopsided loss to Arizona in Week 2. The Cardinals were eliminated from the playoffs and are reduced to playing spoiler. RAMS: 26-16 Sunday’s games New York Jets at Buffalo (-10): The Chiefs’ victory on Wednesay gave them the No. 1 seed in the AFC. With the Bills out of the running for that top seed, their main priority will be keeping Josh Allen and everyone healthy. After a subpar effort against the Patriots, the Bills can’t take Aaron Rodgers and the Jets lightly. BILLS: 27-16 Las Vegas (-1) at New Orleans: The Raiders already hurt their draft positioning by beating the Jaguars last week. Another win could further knock them down and negatively impact their quest for a franchise quarterback. But coach Antonio Pierce wants to win, and the players don’t care about draft slots. The Saints can’t get to the end of the season fast enough. RAIDERS: 20-16 Carolina at Tampa Bay (-8): The Panthers have embraced the spoiler role, and coach Dave Canales will try to derail his former team’s playoff hopes. Bryce Young keeps improving and Chuba Hubbard is having a career year. Baker Mayfield and a turnover-prone offense have to overcome a depleted defense that couldn’t stop Cooper Rush and the Cowboys. BUCCANEERS: 26-20 Tennessee at Jacksonville (-1): The winner of this one really loses because it’ll be costly in the race for draft positioning. TITANS: 19-17 Indianapolis (-8) at New York Giants: The Giants have come too far to lose the No. 1 pick in the draft. The Colts are clinging to slim playoff hopes. Jonathan Taylor and Anthony Richardson combined for 308 yards and four TDs against the Titans. They could have similar results against New York. COLTS: 27-16 Dallas at Philadelphia (-91⁄2): The Cowboys are left to play for a winning record after being eliminated from the playoff race. The Eagles still need a win to secure the NFC East, but are almost locked into the No. 2 seed. Saquon Barkley is 268 yards away from breaking Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record. EAGLES: 24-17 Green Bay at Minnesota (-1): The Vikings are two wins away from the NFC’s No. 1 seed with Sam Darnold. Let that sink in. But those won’t be easy victories. Minnesota has to beat Green Bay and then Detroit on the road to win the NFC North and get home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. VIKINGS: 27-22 Miami (-61⁄2) at Cleveland (3-12): Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins have slim playoff changes and get an opportunity to win a game in cold weather. A loss helps the Browns hold onto a top-five pick in the draft. DOLPHINS: 25-16 Atlanta at Washington (-4): The Falcons regained control of their NFC South hopes when the Buccaneers lost. Now, they have a tough test against the Commanders with Michael Penix Jr. making his second start. Washington clinches a playoff berth with a win or a loss by Tampa Bay. COMMANDERS: 24-23 Monday’s game Detroit (-4) at San Francisco: The Lions aim to avenge their loss in the NFC championship game. Detroit clinches the NFC’s No. 1 seed with a win if the Packers beat the Vikings. If Minnesota beats Green Bay, the Lions have to beat the Vikings in Week 18 to secure the top seed so the result against San Francisco won’t matter. In that case, Dan Campbell could choose to rest some of his starters in preparation for a winner-take-all regular-season finale. This year, the tech titans are stepping it up, allowing attendees to demo the car's cutting-edge features and onboard tech. The project is now under the purview of the Sony Honda Mobility Group, which plans to unveil pre-order details and other updates during a keynote on January 7. Meanwhile, Honda will be showcasing two prototypes from its upcoming 0 Series EV lineup. These vehicles are slated to feature Honda's proprietary operating system paired with "autonomous driving technology." 2. More autonomous driving and SDVs When it comes to autonomous driving, the CES hype machine is in full gear, with startups flooding inboxes to tout their latest innovations. While companies like Ambarella showcase some impressive tech, it's clear that for many, the dream of street-ready autonomy remains just that — a dream. Xilio Therapeutics Announces Inducement Grants Under Nasdaq Listing Rule 5635(c)(4)SANTA CLARA — Brock Purdy pulled off his grey 49ers sweatshirt Friday and, as he headed for the locker room showers, his sore right shoulder was exposed. There was no noticeable swelling or lump, aside from minor marks via treatment he received since last Sunday’s once-subtle injury. His muscular 24-year-old build appeared stout as ever. Looks can be deceiving. So can words, in any NFL team’s injury descriptions, any Instagram doctors’ prognosis, or any reporters’ déjà vu feelings. “I don’t want to say there’s long-term concern,” coach Kyle Shanahan said Friday, referring to Purdy’s MRI exam and indicating the quarterback will miss Sunday’s game at Green Bay. Brandon Allen will make the spot start. For how long, though? Exercising caution is wise to protect a bona fide franchise quarterback who threw for a 49ers-record 4,280 yards last season on a surgically repaired elbow and is due for a 49ers-record contract extension at this season’s likely bitter end. Shanahan and general manager John Lynch indicated that Purdy’s MRI on Monday did not reveal a dire, franchise-altering ailment. “We thought he just needed some rest and really weren’t concerned about him not being good this week,” Shanahan said. “But when he started up Thursday, (his shoulder) just surprised him, surprised us, how it felt.” It’s no surprise, however, how a shoulder injury can grow into a bigger firestorm. For now, public proclamations are minimizing any long-range ramifications. Purdy was not made available to reporters, but as he walked through the locker room Friday, he tried to exude a positive outlook, saying: “We’re all good.” His demeanor remained as upbeat and polite as ever in an ensuing conversation with a staff member. Neither of Purdy’s understudies, Allen and Josh Dobbs, has a history of shoulder injuries, so they were hesitant to speak about how fear-inducing those must be for a quarterback. “I’m not too worried about it, I don’t think any of our guys are,” Allen said. “He’ll rehab and get back as fast as he can. And as far as shoulders, it happens. I don’t think it’ll be anything lingering or long-term for him.” Three seasons ago, when the 49ers last visited Lambeau Field, Jimmy Garoppolo was a week removed from hurting his shoulder – a torn capsule, the 49ers said – in a wild-card playoff win at Dallas. Garoppolo played through the injury, the 49ers won without scoring an offensive touchdown. Two months after losing in the NFC Championship Game, Garoppolo surprised the 49ers by electing to have surgery on his shoulder, complicating a potential trade or release and keeping him on the roster. That made for an awkward but necessary comeback in 2022 as he served as a helpful bridge between Trey Lance’s two-start cameo and Purdy’s late-season emergence for another playoff run. Go back nine years and there is another 49ers quarterback quandary. Colin Kaepernick was listed as probable to play at Seattle, but a day before kickoff, the 49ers surprisingly put him on injured reserve. He headed for surgery to repair a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder. Benched three weeks before that IR move, Kaepernick spent the ensuing offseason rehabilitating for what would be one final season with the 49ers and the NFL. An even messier shoulder story unfolded with Kaepernick’s predecessor, Alex Smith. A 2007 feud ensued between Smith and third-year coach Mike Nolan, who publicly dismissed Smith’s shoulder pain that traced back to a Sept. 30 separation. Smith played hurt a few games, then confessed to the nagging pain in his shoulder, after the 49ers had listed him out of practice with a forearm strain. Smith rallied and rebuilt his career, albeit under other coaches. Now it’s Purdy stepping aside for an unknown length of time. Allen relayed their Friday conversation: “He believes in me, says ‘You’re here for a reason. Go in, step up, play well.’ He’ll be back. So I’m not worried about it.” “He’s doing well. He’s in good spirits,” Dobbs added. “Obviously, I don’t want to speak for him, but he wants to be out there. Global stocks end mostly up with DAX crossing 20,000 for 1st time(BPT) - Has it been a while since you purchased a new TV? You might be surprised by how far TV technology has come since you bought your last set! Today's smart televisions offer dramatic improvements in picture quality and home screens that are far easier to navigate. Plus, they come with a host of cool features like voice control that you may not even know about. It's time to discover what you've been missing — and if you're asking yourself where to start, the Fire TV Buyer Insights Report can help. This independent study surveyed over 2,000 recent purchasers of smart TVs to learn everything from where they did their product research to why they decided to buy. With the holidays almost upon us, the insights in this report can help guide you as you kick off your seasonal shopping. Whether you're buying a gift, hosting a holiday gathering or looking for the perfect game-day screen, read on to find the best TV for your needs. How do you find the right TV? Here's how recent purchasers did it. When it comes to buying a new TV, there are several factors you'll want to consider, starting with who's going to be using it. The study found that spouses (36%), kids (13%), and even grandparents (1%) were involved in the purchase process, so be sure to keep your home's audience in mind. Beyond that, you'll also want to think about: Room size Smart TVs range in size from a 32-inch screen all the way up to a whopping 100 inches or more. To determine the right screen size for your room, follow this guideline: Small rooms: 32"–43" screen Medium rooms: 43"–55" screen Large rooms: 55+" screen As for viewing distance, divide the screen's diameter by 8 to get the ideal viewing distance in feet. For example, a 32-inch screen should be watched from about 4 feet away, while you'll want to be about 8 feet away from a 65-inch screen. Usage How you plan to use your new TV should play a large part in your decision-making process. If you're always looking for the latest show or movie to watch, your smart TV should offer optimal access to the latest streaming services. Gamers will experience better play on a TV with a high refresh rate, while sports enthusiasts will want to watch the big game on a set with smooth motion handling. Connected TV experience One of the most important considerations is how you'll use TV. In the study, 83% of TV purchasers said that easy access to content was one of the things they liked best about their new TV. But beyond being an all-in-one source for entertainment, your smart TV should also play well with other smart home devices. For instance, Fire TV allows you to pair compatible devices seamlessly like video doorbells, smart home devices, and more. And with select models, Fire TV's Ambient Experience can turn the biggest screen in your home into a beautiful, always-on smart display rotating through beautiful art, personal photos, and glanceable information like calendars and reminders. Knowledge is power Before you land on the perfect TV, you'll need to do a little research first. The study found that only 12% of shoppers bought their TV on an impulse, while 65% engaged in some form of product research. Most (82%) respondents conducted some or all of their research online for instant access to smart TV reviews and feature comparisons. In fact, over half of respondents who searched online mentioned digital retailers like Amazon as a great source for honest ratings and buyer reviews. Timing is everything According to the study, the time from research to purchase takes about two weeks, so plan ahead — especially if you're thinking about giving a TV as a holiday gift. There are also some great deals available during this time of year, so keep an eye out for sales and promotional offers. The big picture A new TV is a big purchase, so don't make it an impulsive one. Take the time to do your research and remember that everyone takes a different path to finding the perfect TV. Whether your search begins online, offline, or with a mix of both, it will end with a next-level viewing experience that's just right for the way you watch.

Niagara Region councillors inched closer to finalizing the municipality’s 2025 spending during Thursday’s budget committee meeting. After a series of amendments, many of which crashed and burned — and a heated discussion of the Niagara Regional Police budget — councillors accepted several staff recommendations that helped reduce the overall budget increase to 9.77 per cent on a levy to taxpayers of nearly $538 million. The percentage increase could fall slightly, pending the outcome of about $4.6 million in program changes councillors asked staff to reconsider. The plan to complete the Region’s 2025 budget and pass enabling bylaws by next Thursday remains intact. The full council meeting on that date will begin 30 minutes early to consider the staff report on program changes. Councillors also avoided a stalemate with the police services board by approving its $213-million NRP budget with a 13.18 per cent increase. On Nov. 21, council had asked the police board to find another $1.076 million in savings. The police board rejected the request a week later in writing. “The board came back and said, ‘too bad, we think this is what we need, and that’s that’,” Region Chair Jim Bradley said. “I don’t agree with that approach.” Bradley said he didn’t object to adding 33 front-line officers. Still, he questioned the police need for staff dedicated to social media, graphic design and recruitment in such a challenging budget climate. Fort Erie Coun. Tom Insinna, a retired RCMP officer, proposed sending the budget back to the police services board with an almost $4-million cut, which he said would have reduced the overall regional budget increase to 9.55 per cent. “I believe we will be providing sufficient funding to ensure the police services board can comply with the adequate and effective policing with which they are charged. The council needs to decide: do our residents need a Ferrari, or can we make do with a Chevy? I would suggest with the state of our economy, the Chevy will do.” Port Colborne Mayor Bill Steele took umbrage with Insinna’s Ferrari comment. “I am insulted by my learned friend, Coun. Insinna,” Steele said. “By any means, this is not a Ferrari. “The chief was adamant — these aren’t things that would be nice to have. These are needs with the increase in crime coming down from the GTA. It is not going to get better. I believe it’s going to get worse. We’ve seen it getting worse.” Steele, a member of the police board, suggested councillors reject Insinna’s motion and avoid “going back and forth like a ping-pong ball.” If the motion passed, Steele said the Region and the board could jointly file for a budget dispute resolution. “I think that’s probably the most economical way to move forward with this,” Steele said. When a municipality and a police services board can’t agree on a budget, either side can appeal the decision to the Inspector General of Policing. The Ontario Civilian Police Commission (OCPC) was used to handle disputes. The province dissolved the commission and replaced it with the Inspector General of Policing on April 1, when it introduced a new legislative framework governing policing in Ontario, the Community Safety and Policing Act. History has shown municipalities lose most appeals because arbitrators have traditionally not considered its ability to pay. The process is expensive regardless of the outcome. The two sides are represented by teams of lawyers and well-paid senior staffers, with taxpayers footing the bill for both sides as they prepare and present their respective cases. In 2014, regional councillors considered building a $600,000 war chest — with yearly contributions of $200,000 — so council could stand its ground against the growing police budget, most of which goes to salaries and benefits. The consideration came in the wake of an arbitrator’s award in 2013 that gave the police a pay increase of 3.05 per cent retroactive to January 2012. Councillors voted down Insinna’s motion, which effectively approved the police budget. During Thursday’s meeting, several changes helped keep the overall budget increase below 10 per cent. The changes included a $7.5-million reduction (1.55 per cent) due to changes related to Bill 23, the Building More Homes Faster Act, and Bill 185, the Cutting Red Tape to Build More Homes Act. The province introduced Bill 185 partly because of the feedback it received on the changes to municipal budgeting wrought by Bill 23. Councillors also voted to fund a new Welcome Streets pilot project in St. Catharines for $128,000. The peer-to-peer outreach project was a last-minute addition by St. Catharines Mayor Mat Siscoe. Siscoe said Welcome Streets dovetails with the Region’s emergency declaration on homelessness, mental health and opioid addiction. Similar peer-to-peer outreach programs have improved downtown community safety in Brampton, Ottawa, Belleville and Sudbury. “My hope is that a project like this may allow us to decrease our reliance on police services and a relatively small cost, which is why I’m identifying the Taxpayer Relief Package as the funding source,” Siscoe said. “This is a pilot project. I know the (St. Catharines) Downtown Association is enthusiastic. “If we want to see an improvement in people’s willingness to go into those areas of town where we currently have problems, which are the areas identified in the proposal — the Queenston (Street) area, the Fairview Mall area and the downtown area.” Most of the budget changes approved Thursday are additions to staff, some of which are temporary. All are aimed at bolstering the Region’s pursuit of its strategic initiatives. The new positions include, for example, an IT security compliance and risk specialist, a debt analyst to help modernize the finance department and two transportation engineering project managers. The request also includes one-time spending on equipment, including centre line marking on all regional roads, soil testing and disposal, and storm water management system maintenance and repair. UConn head coach Dan Hurley insists he's not overvaluing Wednesday night's game between his 25th-ranked Huskies and No. 15 Baylor in Storrs, Conn. Sure, it comes on the heels of the two-time reigning national champion Huskies (5-3) responding to losing all three games during the Maui Invitational with a blowout victory over Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday. UConn, which had won 17 consecutive games entering the Maui tournament, fell 23 spots from No. 2 to nearly out of the Associated Press Top 25 poll released Monday. "I think it's such a long season and we're eight games in," Hurley said when asked about facing the Bears. "Our performance in Maui shocked the college basketball world and the sports world, and obviously a lot went on there." "I don't think it's a must-win game in Game Nine of the season, but it's an opportunity to play in Gampel (Pavilion), where we play great and are very comfortable, and we know we're gonna have a great crowd." "We also know we're playing a top-level team, so it's a big game for us and it's a big game for them." Wednesday's game signifies the start of a tough stretch in UConn's schedule. The Huskies will visit Texas on Sunday and challenge No. 7 Gonzaga in New York on Dec. 14 before beginning Big East play on Dec. 18 against Xavier, which fell from No. 22 to out of the poll on Monday. But let's go back to Saturday's 99-45 dismantling of the Hawks. Jaylin Stewart started in place of the injured Alex Karaban (head) and joined Liam McNeeley by scoring 16 points to put UConn back in the win column. Solo Ball contributed 12 points, Aidan Mahaney had 11 and Tarris Reed Jr. (10 points, 12 rebounds) and Jayden Ross (10 points, 10 rebounds) each recorded a double-double. "This experience they're getting, (Stewart), Jayden Ross, Solo Ball, these guys are going to keep getting better and better," Hurley said. "Jaylin Stewart has flashed. That Memphis game (in which he scored 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting), he flashed a lot in that one. "... These sophomores are just going to keep getting better and better. That's why I do think we do need the grace and support of our people here at UConn. Because they're going to be such different players in January and February." Coming off a split in the Bahamas, Baylor (5-2) bounced back from a 77-62 setback to then-No. 11 Tennessee on Nov. 22 with a decisive 91-60 victory over New Orleans last Wednesday. "I know we're all a little tired," Bears coach Scott Drew said. "Whenever you come back from the Bahamas and a trip like that, the first game, you can be playing in mud. And I think the guys did a pretty good job, for the most part." Jayden Nunn drained six of his seven 3-pointers in the first half and finished with a season-high 23 points to power Baylor past the Privateers. Robert Wright III scored 18 points, Jeremy Roach had 17 and Miami transfer Norchad Omier recorded his third consecutive double-double after finishing with 12 points and a season-high 13 rebounds. --Field Level Media

China Telecom Gulf Officially Launches in Saudi Arabia for BusinessThe champions crashed to a fifth straight defeat in all competitions – something not experienced by the club in more than 18 years – as they were thrashed 4-0 by Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. The loss, which was also a third in succession in the Premier League and shattered a 52-game unbeaten home run, damaged the club’s hopes of winning an unprecedented fifth title in a row. It is the worst run of Guardiola’s glittering managerial career and the City boss, who extended his contract until 2027 last week, is determined to turn the situation around. The Catalan said: “When we start to lose I say to the people I have to find a way, I have to. It’s my duty, my responsibility, to find a way to be more consistent, that our game will be better and win games. “This is what we have to do.” City have been hampered by injuries to key players in recent weeks, particularly by the absence of Ballon d’Or-winning midfielder Rodri, who has been sidelined for the remainder of the season. Problems have emerged at both ends of the field with a lack of clean sheets – just five in 19 outings this term – and a shortage of goals being scored on occasions, like Saturday, when the prolific Erling Haaland has an off-day. Guardiola said: “We don’t expect to lose important players but it’s happened and you have to find a way. We have to find other abilities. “I don’t think we didn’t create enough chances. We created a lot of chances, clear ones at 0-0, 0-1, 0-2. “Of course we want a lot of players to score but it’s happened now. “I know at the Etihad when we are there and we score goals our momentum is there, but now we are not solid enough. That is the truth. “In both sides normally we are solid but we concede the goals. Now in both sides we are not good enough. “In these situations, what do you have do to? Keep going my friends, keep going. “We have done it in the past – not in terms of results being as bad as now – but we have done it and we face the situation and move forward.”66,438 Shares in Corsair Gaming, Inc. Panasonic Installs an In-house Hydrogen based Renewable Energy Power Generation System in Its UK Factory – Panasonic Corporation (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Masahiro Shinada; hereinafter referred to as “Panasonic”) today announced that it has completed the installation and begun trial operation of a demonstration power generation system at Panasonic Manufacturing UK Ltd. (Location: Cardiff, Wales, UK; hereinafter referred to as “PMUK”), which develops, manufactures, and sells microwave ovens and other products. The microwave oven assembly factory is powered by renewable energy generated by the system through the integrated control of three types of energy sources: pure hydrogen fuel cell generators, photovoltaic generators, and storage batteries. PMUK will enhance resilience by efficiently generating and storing only the amount of electricity required on-site. Additionally, it will establish an energy management system (EMS) that tracks changes in the factory’s electricity demand and weather changes in the UK. The EMS will begin operation by the end of March 2025 and provide a stable supply of renewable energy to the microwave oven assembly factory. PMUK has installed 21 units of 5 kW pure hydrogen fuel cell generators as part of a distributed system optimized for the amount of electricity used in its microwave oven assembly factory. In combination with 372 kW photovoltaic generators and 1 MWh storage batteries, PMUK aims to operate the system to supply the necessary electricity from 100% renewable energy. The integrated control of 21 pure hydrogen fuel cell generators will level out the operating hours of each unit and improve maintainability, allowing for uninterrupted maintenance. Further, by using green hydrogen produced in the UK, the electricity used in the microwave oven assembly factory will be decarbonized. To power the microwave oven assembly factory, the photovoltaic power generation system for the demonstration uses an output of 372 kW, a portion of the total 760 kW output from photovoltaic power generators installed on the roof of the PMUK building last year. Panasonic will develop a highly effective solution that enables the integrated control of three types of batteries by combining existing photovoltaic generators with newly installed pure hydrogen fuel cell generators and storage batteries. The effectiveness of the solution will also be verified. At this demonstration facility, heat generated during the electricity production by the pure hydrogen fuel cell generators will be used to provide heating and hot water in the microwave oven assembly factory, aiming to achieve an energy efficiency of 95% for the pure hydrogen fuel cell generators with the cogeneration effect. The heat generated during power generation will be used to preheat water for the newly installed “water circulation air conditioning system” (which collects heat from the atmosphere to create cold and hot water that is circulated around the room to adjust the room temperature), thereby further reducing power consumption during hot water heating operation through integrated heat utilization. Additionally, the factory aims to integrate the use of heat from existing electric boilers to reduce the power consumption required to supply hot water within the factory. When controlling the EMS, demonstration data will be accumulated concerning the balance of power supply and demand, dependent on changes in weather conditions, fluctuations in power demand, and other factors, while incorporating external local weather forecast data. This will help Panasonic accumulate know-how for enhancing the EMS, one of its core technologies, strengthen its supply and demand adjustment technology to minimize losses in the generation, storage, and transmission of renewable energy, and ensure a stable energy supply. This demonstration uses green hydrogen for in-house power generation and integrates and controls three types of energy sources to run the factory on 100% renewable energy in environmentally advanced European countries. This globally unique initiative is the first attempt even for Panasonic. Through this demonstration, Panasonic aims to achieve a solution that is optimal for the characteristics of the region. Furthermore, through the operation of the demonstration system, the company will also seek to build relationships with local partner companies and business customers related to the hydrogen business to establish a business foundation. Aiming for a society where well-being and sustainability are compatible, Panasonic will create new businesses that contribute to UK society and climate change measures. It will also tackle efforts to develop its business from a long-term perspective toward the realization of a future hydrogen society and carbon neutrality. ■PMUK demonstration facility ■Demonstration system in PMUK ■Layout of the demonstration site in PMUK With the aim of achieving both a better life and a sustainable global environment, the Panasonic Group has established Panasonic GREEN IMPACT, its long-term environmental vision. Under this vision, the group is engaged in business activities with the goal of reducing CO emissions from its operations to net zero by 2030 and creating an impact that reduces CO emissions by more than 300 million tons,* approximately 1% of the current total global CO emissions* of about 33 billion tons by 2050. Tesla and Rivian have been embroiled in a lawsuit in which the former accused the latter of having stolen battery technology by poaching Tesla employees. It sounds like the two automakers are finally about to settle the lawsuit, which has been going on for 4 years. In 2020, by hiring former Tesla employees and encouraging them to bring documents. Rivian has denied the allegations. When Tesla filed the lawsuit, it wasn’t clear what trade secrets Tesla was claiming Rivian had stolen. However, we noted that the employees listed in the lawsuits were two recruiters, an EHS manager, and a manager of Tesla’s charging networks. The automaker claimed that these employees brought “documents consisting of highly sensitive trade secret, confidential, and proprietary engineering information” when they went to work for Rivian. A year later, Tesla expanded the lawsuit At first, the companies tried to settle out of court, but it didn’t work out, so . Over a year later, we now learn that Tesla had notified the court that it expects to file to get the lawsuit dismissed after reaching a conditional agreement with Rivian. The company didn’t disclose the details of the settlement (via ): Tesla didn’t disclose specifics about the agreement in a court filing, but told a California state judge that it expects to seek dismissal of the case by Dec. 24 upon satisfactory completion of the terms. Neither Tesla nor Rivian have commented on the reported settlement. While Tesla has claimed that it somewhat open-sourced its patents, we have previously noted that it’s not exactly the case. Tesla claims to let other companies use its patented technology as long as they themselves don’t sue them over patent rights. And in this specific case, Tesla alleges that Rivian has specifically hired employees to steal technologies. Again, Rivian has denied the allegation. The terms are unknown, but in similar cases, it often involves things like some level of access to make sure that no proprietary technology is being used or has been used. The lawsuit is not exactly clear, but based on the timeline and the allegations of “next-gen batteries”, Tesla could have been talking about its 4680 battery cells, although those are cells. India turning into world’s Deep Tech Hub as reforms reverse brain drain: Hardeep Singh PuriThe Kansas City Chiefs are laying down the law with three strict rules that affect Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift . Over the 12 months, Kelce’s profile has skyrocketed to meteoric levels amid his relationship with pop star Swift as well as his popular ‘New Heights’ podcast with brother - and Philadelphia Eagles legend - Jason . The 35-year-old even appeared on stage during Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ concert at Wembley Stadium during the offseason, to the acclaim of her legion of fans. Kelce and Swift went public with their whirlwind relationship back in September 2023, when she attended the win over the Chicago Bears at Arrowhead. She supported him throughout the season, all the way to the Chiefs hoisting the Lombardi Trophy for the second successive year after their Super Bowl LVIII triumph. Dallas Cowboys to miss 5 stars with combined $100M earnings against Washington Commanders Shedeur Sanders drops huge hint at NFL future after Daniel Jones release from Giants The duo represent one of the most high-profile couples in the world, and Swift’s pregame entrances always draw eyes. However, both Kelce and Swift are not exempt for the rules the Chiefs have implemented leading up to gameday. Chiefs receiver Mecole Hardman’s fiancee Chariah Gordon recently told People.com that there are eight rules the team has for all of its players to follow, but there are three in particular that apply to relationships. This affects Kelce and Swift . Rule one is an 11 p.m. curfew for all players the night before - with no exceptions. The NFL CBA states that players can be disciplined by teams for curfew violations, which fall under “conduct detrimental to the team.” Follow us on X for the best and latest in sports news The second rule is that all significant others, including wives, must stay in separate rooms the night before games. While they are allowed to stay in the same hotel, players have to sleep solo and the Chiefs are particularly strict about making sure this rule is adhered to. The third and final rule is that all players must get directly onto the team plane after road games with no significant others allowed to tag along. This is to maximize team chemistry, with safety Bryan Cook’s wife Jayla Thornton-Cook telling People: “You're more than welcome to go to a game and you can see them after, and then they're getting right back on the flight and they're coming right back home that night.” Swift has only attended home games in the 2024 season, so the last rule is not an issue for the pop icon. Dan Kemp adding another goal and another man of the match performance as Stevenage left it late to win 2-0 at home to Northampton Town. He scored on 89 minutes, three minutes before Jamie Reid made it two, making it four for the season and three in the last four League One matches. And he says the upturn in his form is down to a couple of reasons. He said: "It's nice to get individual accolades but I'm just happy to be out there and playing in my favourite position, it's really suited me. "I'm starting to show what I can do. "Momentum is a big thing in football and I've had quite a few games in a row now so I've had quite a few opportunities to show the best version of me. "I've just got to keep my head down and keep working hard. Hopefully I can keep getting better." The win was Boro's first since the middle of October and the first at the Lamex since the 1-0 win over Wrexham on October 1. And the 25-year-old attacking midfielder believes it was deserved. "It was a massive three points and a really good performance from start to finish," said Kemp. "Obviously the goals came late but at the end of the day, you win the game and I thought we controlled it from minute one. "A lot of the time when you see your opposition go down to 10 men, you think you've got the advantage, and that is the case, but it's very difficult. "They banked up and sat behind the ball and we just had to stay patient, keep creating the space down the sides and try to get to the byline for cutbacks and things like that. "In the end that's how we got out two goals and credit to the lads for keeping going." And while there was doubt on the terraces that a goal was ever going to come, Kemp says that wasn't the case for the players "I don't think you can afford to think like that as an attacking player," he said, "maybe from a fan's point of view I can understand it. "We had to keep getting in the right areas and believing you'll get a chance and then backing yourself to put it away. "Anyone will tell you that to get a goal at that stage of the game, you think you're going to win it. "Nick [Freeman] and Eli [King] came off the bench and made an impact. "It shows that whoever is playing and whoever is contributing, we're all in it together. "This will give us a big boost and we're all really happy."Pep Guardiola: It’s my responsibility to solve Manchester City’s poor run

Eco Bright Future, Inc.'s Subsidiary, United Heritage, Secures Bitcoin Exchange License in El SalvadorA new airport system designed to help things run more smoothly will shame passengers trying to board too early or without their groups. The technology by American Airlines is launching in more than 100 airports and hopes to help ensure travellers board with their designated groups ahead of the busy holiday travel season - but not everyone is convinced. While cutting in line in airports certainly hits a nerve with some - there are concerns that this new technology consitutes to shaming customers. It works by emitting an audible sound when someone tries to scan their boarding pass before their designated group. With the new system in place, those trying to board before their designated group will hear the noise. The gate agent will then ask the passenger to rejoin the line and wait until their group is called. There are some exceptions though. This includes that gate agents can override the system for passengers who are travelling with a companion in an earlier boarding group. Henry Harteveldt, an airline industry analyst with Atmosphere Research Group, doesn't see it as shaming though, . He said: “What it is intended to do is bring order out of chaos. "And I hope it will defuse any potential flare-ups of anger [from] people who simply think they’re entitled to board out of turn... it’s just not fair.” Seth Miller, editor and founder of PaxEx.aero, said he can see benefits but isn’t “100% convinced this is perfect for passengers". Both Miller and Harteveldt said they wouldn’t be surprised if other airlines soon followed in America's footsteps with the new technology. Among the more than 100 airports using the new technology include Atlanta International Airport with the airline having plans to expand it in the coming months.

The game's rich storytelling and immersive gameplay have earned it acclaim for its innovation and emotional depth. DETROIT (AP) — If Donald Trump makes good on his threat to slap 25% tariffs on everything imported from Mexico and Canada, the price increases that could follow will collide with his campaign promise to give American families a break from inflation. Economists say companies would have little choice but to pass along the added costs, dramatically raising prices for food, clothing, automobiles, booze and other goods. The president-elect floated the tariff idea, including additional 10% taxes on goods from China, as a way to force the countries to halt the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs into the U.S. But his posts Monday on Truth Social threatening the tariffs on his first day in office could just be a negotiating ploy to get the countries to change behavior. High food prices were a major issue in voters picking Trump over Vice President Kamala Harris, but tariffs almost certainly would push those costs up even further. For instance, the Produce Distributors Association, a Washington trade group, said Tuesday that tariffs will raise prices for fresh fruit and vegetables and hurt U.S. farmers when other countries retaliate. “Tariffs distort the marketplace and will raise prices along the supply chain, resulting in the consumer paying more at the checkout line,” said Alan Siger, association president. Mexico and Canada are two of the biggest exporters of fresh fruit and vegetables to the U.S. In 2022, Mexico supplied 51% of fresh fruit and 69% of fresh vegetables imported by value into the U.S., while Canada supplied 2% of fresh fruit and 20% of fresh vegetables. Before the election, about 7 in 10 voters said they were very concerned about the cost of food, according to AP VoteCast, a survey of more than 120,000 voters. “We’ll get them down,” Trump told shoppers during a September visit to a Pennsylvania grocery store. The U.S. is the largest importer of goods in the world, with Mexico, China and Canada its top three suppliers, according to the most recent U.S. Census data. People looking to buy a new vehicle likely would see big price increases as well, at a time when costs have gone up so much that they are out of reach for many. The average price of a new vehicle now runs around $48,000. About 15% of the 15.6 million new vehicles sold in the U.S. last year came from Mexico, while 8% crossed the border from Canada, according to Global Data. Much of the tariffs would get passed along to consumers, unless automakers can somehow quickly find productivity improvements to offset them, said C.J. Finn, U.S. automotive sector leader for PwC, a consulting firm. That means even more consumers “would potentially get priced out of the activity” of buying a new vehicle, Finn said. Hardest hit would be Volkswagen, Stellantis, General Motors and Ford, Bernstein analyst Daniel Roeska wrote Tuesday in a note to investors. Stellantis and VW import about 40% of the vehicles they sell from Canada and Mexico, while it's 30% for GM and 25% for Ford. GM and Stellantis import more than half of their high-profit pickup trucks from the two countries, according to Bernstein. If Trump does impose the tariffs in January, the auto industry would have little time to adjust, putting operating profits at risk for the automakers, Roeska said in an email. “A 25% tariff on Mexico and Canada would severely cripple the U.S. auto industry,” he said. The tariffs would hurt U.S. industrial production so much that “we expect this is unlikely to happen in practice,” Roeska said. The tariff threat hit the stocks of some companies that could be particularly hurt, such as auto manufacturers and Constellation Brands, which sells Modelo and other Mexican beer brands in the United States. But the overall market held relatively steady near records as investors saw Trump’s proposal as more of an opening position for negotiations rather than as a definitive policy. It's not clear how long the tariffs would last if they are implemented, but they could force auto executives to move production to the U.S., which could create more jobs in the long run. But Morningstar analyst David Whiston said in the short term automakers probably won't make any moves because they can't quickly change where they build vehicles. To move to the U.S., they would have to buy equipment and revamp their parts supply chain, which can take years. “I think everyone is going to be in a wait-and-see mode,” Whiston said. Millions of dollars worth of auto parts flow across the borders with Mexico and Canada, and that could raise prices for already costly automobile repairs, Finn said. The Distilled Spirits Council of the U.S. said tariffs on tequila or Canadian whisky won’t boost American jobs because they are distinctive products that can only be made in their country of origin. In 2023, the U.S. imported $4.6 billion worth of tequila and $108 million worth of mezcal from Mexico and $537 million worth of spirits from Canada, the council said. “At the end of the day, tariffs on spirits products from our neighbors to the north and south are going to hurt U.S. consumers and lead to job losses across the U.S. hospitality industry just as these businesses continue their long recovery from the pandemic,” the council said in a statement. Electronics retailer Best Buy said on its third-quarter earnings conference call that it runs on thin profit margins, so while vendors and the company will shoulder some increases, Best Buy will have to pass tariffs on to customers. “These are goods that people need, and higher prices are not helpful,” CEO Corie Barry said. Walmart also warned this week that tariffs could force it to raise prices, as did Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who talked with Trump after his call for tariffs, said they had a good conversation about how the countries can work together on the challenges they face. "This is something that we can do, laying out the facts and moving forward in constructive ways. This is a relationship that we know takes a certain amount of working on and that’s what we’ll do,” Trudeau said. Trump's transition team wouldn't comment on the call. Also Monday, Trump turned his ire to China, saying he has “had many talks with China about the massive amounts of drugs, in particular Fentanyl, being sent into the United States – But to no avail.” The Chinese Embassy in Washington cautioned on Monday that there will be losers on all sides if there is a trade war. Trump's threats come as arrests for illegally crossing the border from Mexico have been falling . The most recent U.S. numbers for October show arrests remain near four-year lows. But arrests for illegally crossing the border from Canada have been rising over the past two years. Much of America’s fentanyl is smuggled from Mexico. Border seizures of the drug rose sharply under President Joe Biden. The tariffs would also throw into doubt the reliability of the 2020 trade deal brokered in large part by Trump with Canada and Mexico, the USMCA, which replaced NAFTA and is up for review in 2026. Trump transition team officials did not immediately respond to questions about what authority he would use, what he would need to see to prevent the tariffs from being implemented and how they would impact prices in the U.S. Mexico’s Foreign Relations Department and Economy Department also had no immediate reaction to Trump’s statements. ___ Rugaber reported from Washington. Additionally, the initial cost of purchasing an electric vehicle like the Small G9 can be a deterrent for some buyers. While the long-term savings on fuel and maintenance costs can offset this initial investment, the upfront price tag may still be a barrier for those on a tight budget or looking for a more affordable transportation option.
