UA&P – vivo Inter-Collegiate Futsal Tournament ends with RTU clinching the titleLOS ANGELES — Until he sustained a season-ending knee injury last week in the Western Conference final, Galaxy playmaker Riqui Puig was having a tremendous season. So I heard. I watched Puig play only twice this year, once in the Galaxy's season-opening 1-1 draw with Inter Miami and a second time in his team's Fourth of July defeat to LAFC at the Rose Bowl. Outside of short highlight clips on social media, I never saw the former Barcelona prospect, not even when he assisted on the goal that sent the Galaxy to the MLS Cup final. That wasn't a reflection of my interest. Some of my friends will make fun of me for publicly admitting this, but I like Major League Soccer. I covered the league in my first job out of college and have casually kept up with it since. I take my children to a couple of games a year. My 11-year-old son owns Galaxy and LAFC hats but no Dodgers or Lakers merchandise. When flipping through channels in the past, if presented with the choice of, say, college football or MLS, I usually watched MLS. But not this year. While the MLS Cup final between the Galaxy and New York Red Bulls will be shown on Fox and Fox Deportes, the majority of games are now exclusively behind a paywall, courtesy of the league's broadcasting deal with Apple. MLS Season Pass subscriptions were reasonably priced — $79 for the entire season for Apple TV+ subscribers, $99 for non-subscribers — but I was already paying for DirecTV Stream, Netflix, Amazon Prime, PlayStation Plus and who knows what else. MLS became a casualty in my household, as well as in many others, and the possibility of being out of sight and out of mind should be a concern for a league that is looking to expand its audience. Which isn't to say the league made a mistake. This was a gamble MLS had to take. Now in the second year of a 10-year, $2.5 billion deal with Apple, MLS did what Major League Baseball is talking about doing, which is to centralize its broadcasting rights and sell them to a digital platform. Regional sports networks have been decimated by cord cutting, making traditional economic models unsustainable. The move to Apple not only increased the league's broadcast revenues — previous deals with ESPN, Fox and Univision were worth a combined $90 million annually, according to multiple reports — but also introduced a measure of uniformity in the league. The quality of the broadcasts are better than they were under regional sports networks. Viewers know where to watch games and when, as every one of them is on Season Pass and most of them are scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. local time either on Wednesday or Saturday. "That's been fueling our growth and driving our fan engagement," MLS Commissioner Don Garber said Friday at his annual state of the league address. Apple and MLS declined to reveal the number of League Pass subscribers, but the league provided polling figures that indicated 94% of viewers offered positive or neutral reviews of League Pass. The average viewing time for a game is about 65 minutes for a 90-minute game, according to Garber. In other words, the League Pass is well-liked — by the people who have it. The challenge now is to increase that audience. The launch of League Pass last year coincided with the arrival of Lionel Messi, which presumably resulted in a wave of subscriptions. But the league can't count on the appearance of the next Messi; there is only one of him. MLS pointed to how its fans watch sports on streaming devices or recorded television than any other U.S. sports league, as well as how 71% of its fans are under the age of 45. The league also pointed to how it effectively drew more viewers to the Apple broadcast of Inter Miami's postseason opener with a livestream of a "Messi Cam' on TikTok, indicating further collaborations with wide-reaching entities could be in its future. Garber mentioned how Season Pass is available in other countries. The commissioner also made note of how Apple places games every week in front of its paywall. "What we have, really, is a communication problem," Garber said. "This is new, and we've got to work with Apple, we've got to work with our clubs and we've got to work with our partners to get more exposure to what we think is a great product." The greatest benefit to the league could be Apple's vested interest in improving the on-field product. MLS insiders said Apple has not only encouraged teams to sign more high-profile players but also pushed the league to switch to a fall-to-spring calendar more commonplace in other parts of the world, reasoning that doing so would simplify the process of buying and selling players. The on-field product is what matters. The on-field product is why MLS continues to face competition for viewers from overseas leagues. The on-field product is why the league hasn't succeeded in converting every soccer fan into a MLS fan. And ultimately, if casual viewers such as myself are to pay to watch the Galaxy or LAFC on a screen of some kind, the on-field product will be why. Get local news delivered to your inbox!

Jeremy Clarkson's other half, Lisa Hogan, has been inundated with heart-warming wishes following a festive post. The adored co-star of 'Clarkson's Farm', who recently celebrated her eight anniversary with Jeremy, posted to the show's X/Twitter page on Christmas Day. Here, she shared a video of the sheep at their property in Chipping Norton, West Oxfordshire, some munching on bunches of hay. According to , the 51-year-old said: "Merry Christmas from all of us here on Diddly Squat Farm. "I hope you're having a good day and just remembering the people who aren't with their families and who are a little sad today. We are all thinking of you." Unsurprisingly, followers were quick to flood the comment section with their support. One user wrote: "Thank you and Merry Christmas to you and may the farmers be free to farm in the new year," while someone else posted: "Merry Christmas, Lisa and to everyone at the Farm! Thank you for everything You & Clarkson do to try to make it a better world." Another even wrote: "Merry Christmas from East Tennessee. Thank you for sharing your farm with us. Much love and blessings to you all." Jeremy was previously married to Frances Cain for 21 years before finding love again with Lisa. The pair initially sparked their romance back in 2017 when they met at a friend's Christmas gathering. While they are head over heels now, it wasn't always that way. In a previous interview with , Lisa said she made Jeremy work for it, after hearing of his 'reputation'. She said: "I was just about to leave and we were introduced and he said, 'No, no, come on, sit down and have a chat'. And that was it, really. "So he called me a couple of days later and I thought, 'Ok, you've got a bit of a rep' - so he had to really court me!"

Funsho Adegbola, the daughter of the late Chief Bola Ige , has recounted how her father was assassinated. Naija News reports that Ige, Nigeria’s ex-Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, was assassinated in his Ibadan home on 23 December 2001. Speaking during an interview on the radio talk show State Affairs with Edmund Obilo, as reported by PUNCH Online on Friday, Adegbola shared some eerie premonitions and symbolic warnings she got before her father’s death. According to her, she dreamt that she was wearing a black dress and mourning. Troubled by the dream, she confided in her father. His response was reassuring yet unsettling in hindsight: “ Nobody can kill me; my life is in God’s hands.” Adegbola recounted a peculiar incident at the palace of the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade, just days before the assassination. During a chieftaincy ceremony for the late Chief Stella Obasanjo, Ige’s cap was mysteriously removed. “ He told me, ‘In my entire political life, nobody has ever removed my cap,’” Adegbola recalled, emphasising how deeply symbolic and unprecedented her father found the act. Reflecting on her father’s life, Adegbola said, “ As Minister of Power and Steel, he returned 16 official cars assigned to him, saying, ‘I can’t maintain more than two cars. “ His Spartan lifestyle extended to his notably basic security arrangements. “After his assassination, Kema Chikwe visited our home and was shocked to see that our doors were ordinary carpentry wooden doors, easily breakable. “My father had no bulletproof doors or elaborate security, unlike many public officials. ” She recalled a warning from a friend who had read a newspaper article suggesting her father might not return alive from an upcoming visit to Ife. “I told him, ‘Daddy, it appears they will do something to you.’ He replied, ‘I am surrounded by the White Light of Christ through which nothing evil can penetrate.” Adegbola noted that her father fasted daily, except on Sundays, and relied on his spirituality to navigate challenges. She also linked the threats to her father’s political battles, particularly with Iyiola Omisore, then Deputy Governor of Osun State, during the era of Governor Bisi Akande’s administration. “ There were political uprisings in Osun State then, and tensions were high ,” she said. The inability to obtain justice for Ige’s murder remains a devastating wound for the family. Adegbola lamented how her mother, a Justice of the Court of Appeal, was unable to secure justice for her husband. “It was a cruel irony that broke her spirit,” she added.Love for the Motor City: Football fans from UK in Detroit for Lions-Packers game

Review: The Anker Solix C300 rewrites the compact portable power station rule bookLabour MP for Cardiff West, Alex Barros-Curtis, said warnings should have been “amber or red”, as Mr Reed told MPs that more flooding is “likely”. Hundreds of homes were left under water, roads were turned into rivers and winds of more than 80mph were recorded across parts of the UK. More than 130 flood warnings and 160 alerts remained in place across the UK on Monday. In the Commons on Monday, Mr Barros-Curtis asked: “Can I ask that the Secretary of State speak to his Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) colleagues to carefully look into the role of the Met Office here? “It is clear that their response was slow and that there was a clear underestimation of the impact of Storm Bert. “They put it yellow rather than amber or red. Our constituents have been let down by this incompetence before, and it cannot keep happening.” Mr Reed said: “In most parts of the countries that were affected, warnings were given with adequate time for people to prepare and I would encourage people to sign up on the Defra website, or the Environment Agency website for warnings and alerts if they live in an area that could be affected by flooding. “I’m aware of the particular concern that he mentions regarding the Met Office, and I will indeed be speaking to colleagues in DSIT as they review the circumstances of that and look at how the situation can be improved for future events of this kind.” A Met Office spokesperson said: “Storm Bert was well forecast, with first signs of disruptive weather signalled a week ahead and the first warnings issued on Wednesday November 20. “A number of warnings were in place ahead of the system reaching the UK. “We work closely with partners to assess the potential risks of extreme weather and warnings covering Wales highlighted the potential for homes and businesses to flood with fast flowing or deep floodwater possible, causing a danger to life. “Observed rainfall totals were broadly in line with the forecast and the severe weather warnings issued in advance.” During his update to the House, the Environment Secretary said that more flooding this week is “likely” but its impact “should be less severe” than has been seen. He said: “Around 28,000 properties are being protected by Environment Agency flood defences. “Unfortunately, an estimated 107 properties have flooded across England, principally from river and surface water flooding.” He added: “The Environment Agency and local responders have also been busy protecting properties elsewhere in England, including flooding from the River Teme in Tenbury Wells where around 40 properties have flooded. “The river has now peaked and local responders will be focusing on the lower reaches of rivers over the next few days.” He further stated: “Further flooding is sadly likely over the next few days as water levels rise in slower flowing rivers such as the Severn and the Ouse. “The Environment Agency anticipates that any impacts should be less severe than we have seen in recent days.” Mr Reed also described the flood defences they inherited from the previous government as being “in the worst condition on record following years of underinvestment”. He added: “Over 3,000 of our key flood defences are below an acceptable standard. “That is why we are investing £2.4 billion over the next two years to build and maintain flood defences.” Elsewhere in the session, Labour MP for Coventry South, Zarah Sultana, was among the MPs to call for a legal duty on fire services to respond to flooding. She said: “I want to express my solidarity and thanks to all of our emergency services, including firefighters on the front line. “Extreme weather events are on the rise and becoming ever more frequent due to climate change, highlighting the urgent need for proper funding and resources. “England is the only part of the UK without a statutory duty for flooding, leaving fire services underfunded and under-resourced to respond effectively. This must change, as the FBU (Fire Brigades Union) has long called for.” “When will the Government finally provide a statutory duty for Fire and Rescue authorities to respond to flooding incidents in England?” Mr Reed replied: “The fire and rescue authorities have the powers to intervene, but she’s quite right to point out there’s not a duty, and officials in my department, working with the Home Office, will review that to see that that remains appropriate.” Conservative MP for Mid Buckinghamshire Greg Smith said some communities in his constituency are flooding “for the first time in decades” as he accused the Government of wanting to “concrete over the countryside”. He said: “That is a result of some of the big infrastructure we are seeing being built, particularly HS2 where they will concrete over a field completely, it seems, unaware that that will have a knock-on effect to farmland next door. “So will the Secretary of State commit to working with the Transport Secretary (Louise Haigh) and I also suggest the Deputy Prime Minister (Angela Rayner) given their plans to concrete over the countryside to ensure that where construction takes place proper, and I really mean proper, flood mitigation measures are put into place.” Mr Reed replied: “This needs to operate across Government, and we will have those conversations and ensure that measures are put in place to support communities as much as is possible from the more severe weather events that we’re seeing as a result of climate change.”Review: The Anker Solix C300 rewrites the compact portable power station rule bookhttps fb777 com

Review: The Anker Solix C300 rewrites the compact portable power station rule bookAt The Dickinson Press, we have had the privilege and responsibility of chronicling this community's story since 1883 — documenting its triumphs, trials, and occasional missteps. For over a century, we have rarely felt compelled to step away from our role as objective reporters and have sparingly wielding the editorial pen. That’s simply not what The Press does. Yet, the forthcoming recall election targeting Commissioner Jason Fridrich compels us to speak out. We believe this recall is unwarranted, unnecessarily divisive and, frankly, a regrettable misuse of our collective time, energy and taxpayer dollars. ADVERTISEMENT Let’s set the record straight. We do not agree with every decision Commissioner Fridrich has made, nor those of the other board members. However, the claim driving this recall — that he failed to properly take his oath of office and should be removed as a result — simply doesn’t hold water. The extraordinary measures of democracy, like recalls, should be reserved for extraordinary circumstances. How did we get here? A petitioner claims Commissioner Fridrich and others "did not properly take their Oaths of Office," citing sections of the North Dakota Century Code (NDCC). The suggestion is that this technicality invalidates his ability to serve. But here’s the reality: Fridrich took his oath of office in good faith, swearing to uphold the Constitutions of the United States and North Dakota. Whether the administrator of that oath or the city’s process at the time met every NDCC standard is a moot point. At the end of the day, Fridrich has upheld that oath and has not strayed outside the confines of the law. Under Fridrich’s tenure, the Dickinson City Commission has performed commendably. The city is managed well, perhaps even admirably compared to our neighbors in eastern North Dakota. Our commissioners have not overstepped their authority and have honored the trust placed in them by voters. That’s the beauty of democracy. If someone takes issue with an elected official, they have a straightforward solution: elections. Fridrich, like all commissioners, has regularly faced the judgment of the people in scheduled elections. That’s the appropriate and time-tested way to effect change — not by wielding the extraordinary measure of a recall over personal grievances or perceived slights. Consider the practical realities here. Unless a serious challenger steps forward — which we argue excludes the current petitioner — the probable outcome of this recall election is that Commissioner Fridrich retains his seat. What will we have achieved as a city? Nothing. What will we have gained in the process? A waste of taxpayer dollars, a black eye for the city and a dangerous precedent that personal grievances and procedural nitpicking can unseat anyone who dares to lead. Recalls are a vital safeguard in our republic. But, like any tool, they must be used responsibly and for their intended purpose. A recall’s purpose is to protect citizens from officials who abuse their office or blatantly violate their responsibilities — not to settle petty disagreements or advance personal agendas. This recall reeks of the latter and should dishearten all of us. ADVERTISEMENT Commissioner Fridrich, like his colleagues, answered the call to serve our community. That’s noble. We should commend, not condemn, those who take on the challenging, often thankless task of local governance. It is easy to criticize from the sidelines; it is much harder to step into the arena and do the work. We believe Fridrich has done so with dignity, in line with his oath of office, even if some disagree with his voting record or listen to claims from the “paperwork police” about supposed conspiracies. This recall election isn’t a victory for Dickinson. It’s a misuse of a valuable tool for no real purpose. We urge our readers and the citizens of Dickinson to recognize this special election for what it is: a social media-driven drama, not a legitimate effort to improve our city. Democracy isn’t a spectator sport, and governance tools shouldn’t be used as instruments of personal grievance. We call on Dickinson’s citizens to consider a different approach: We can do better, Dickinson. We deserve better. We deserve leaders willing to serve, even in the face of criticism. We deserve citizens willing to engage constructively, not tear down recklessly. And we deserve a city where public servants are respected for stepping into the arena, not targeted for doing their jobs.IPO News Today Live Updates: Navigate the dynamic world of initial public offerings with our dedicated IPO News section. SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy took part in some light throwing on Monday after missing his first career game because of an injury and the 49ers are hoping he can return this week. Purdy hurt his throwing shoulder during a loss to Seattle on Nov. 17. Purdy underwent two MRIs last week that showed no structural damage. But Purdy he felt discomfort after making a few throws at practice on Thursday and was shut down for the game at Green Bay on Sunday that San Francisco lost 38-10 . Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Purdy made it through the session without pain and will rest on Tuesday and hopefully be able to return to practice on Wednesday as the Niners prepare to play at Buffalo this coming week. “We rested it throughout the weekend hoping that would help,” Shanahan said. “He threw lighter today to see if that rest helps and the rest did help him. So we’ll see again, going through the same things we did last week. We’re going to let him rest all the way up to Wednesday. We’ll see how it feels on Wednesday and then we’ll take the exact same course throughout the week. Hopefully it responds better this week than it did last week with the rest.” Brandon Allen went 17 for 29 for 199 yards with a touchdown, an interception and a lost fumble in his first start since the 2021 season. Allen would play once again if Purdy is unable to go on Sunday at Buffalo. Purdy wasn't the only star player missing for the 49ers on Sunday with defensive end Nick Bosa missing the game with injuries to his left hip and oblique and left tackle Trent Williams out with an ankle injury. “Just waiting to see how they respond,” Shanahan said. “They didn’t respond great last week. That’s why they weren’t able to go. Nick and Trent are both in the same boat. ... We’ll evaluate as this week progresses and hopefully it turns a better corner than it did last week.” In other injury news, linebacker Dre Greenlaw will return to practice this week for the first time since tearing his Achilles tendon in the Super Bowl last season. Greenlaw will likely need at least a couple of weeks of practice before being able to return to play. Offensive lineman Jon Feliciano will be shut down for the rest of the season after his knee injury didn't fully heal. Feliciano's three-week practice window ended Monday and the Niners decided to keep him on injured reserve instead of activating him. Left guard Aaron Banks, defensive tackle Jordan Elliott and receiver Jacob Cowing all remain in concussion protocol to start this week and their status is unknown. Right guard Dominick Puni (shoulder) and cornerback Deommodore Lenoir (knee) underwent MRIs on Monday and the team is waiting for results. Cornerback Renardo Green (neck) and linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (knee) are day to day. Defensive tackle Kevin Givens is expected to return to practice this week after missing the past four games with a groin injury. AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/nfl

49ers QB Brock Purdy resumes throwing but status for this week remains unknownThe Detroit Lions are off to a tough start to a tough week. After playing on Sunday, the Lions now turnaround and immediately go into preparation for a Thursday game against the Bears on Thanksgiving. They may have to do it without some key players. Lions Monday practice report: pic.twitter.com/aCDSr7Ex7E The big ones for this particular story are Amon-Ra St. Brown and Kalif Raymond. Right now it seems like there's a better chance that St. Brown plays than Raymond, but it's a bit of a waiting game at the moment. Either way, an opportunity for a breakout moment has presented itself. This is where rookie running back Sione Vaki can truly have his chance to shine in multiple areas. For starters, wit Raymond down, the Lions are going to need a punt returner. Having a starter do it is a horrible idea. Having Vaki do it the right way to go. We saw Vaki return kicks and punts during camp and he did fairly well with it. The big thing though is to get him involved in the offense as a pass catcher. We saw what Vaki could do in that area at Utah and we also saw it at camp and in the preseason. This guy is a down hill pass catcher. He gets it and is able to go out there and move. All of @sione_vaki 's catches from Saturday's win in KC! pic.twitter.com/4HmqmavKYS He's not St. Brown or anything like that, but for one game he can go out there and make plays for this team while they rely on Jameson Williams , Sam LaPorta and Tim Patrick to take on the brunt of the work. This is what the Lions drafted Vaki for. They wanted a guy that could play all three phases of the game and do it well. Here's a chance to go out there and do that. Other guys to watch for are Allen Robinson , Donovan Peoples-Jones and Maurice Alexander. The cockpit also features a high pilot position with a reclined seat that is 30° angle, accommodating taller pilots. The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a versatile fighter aircraft capable of air-to-air combat and air-to-surface attack. It can locate targets in all weather conditions and detect low-flying aircraft in radar ground clutter. In the air-to-surface role, it can fly more than 434 NM (500 mi, 860 km) and has a flying range of over 1,740 NM (2002 mi, 3222 km). It delivers weapons with superior accuracy, defends against enemy aircraft, and returns to its starting point at a maximum speed of reaching twice the speed of sound or Mach 2 at altitude (1,500 MPH, 2414 km/h). Distinctive Bubble Canopy Design The Fighter features a bird-proof polycarbonate bubble canopy with 360° visibility, a 40° look-down angle, and an elevated pilot's seat. It lacks a forward bow frame, allowing better forward vision and improved vision over the side and to the rear. Its ACES II is a third-generation ejection seat system manufactured by Collins Aerospace, offering a unique recline as other fighters have a tilted seat at 13–15°. A fully redundant digital electronic sequencer controls the seat. It features advanced features such as sensing ejection conditions, selecting appropriate drogue and main parachute deployments, and being controlled by a fully redundant digital electronic sequencer. The F-16 Block 70/72 and F-16 Viper Upgrade feature new cockpit displays, safety improvements, and missionized aft cockpit flexibility. The updated cockpit layout includes a 6"x 8" high-resolution center pedestal display for precise lethality and unprecedented battlespace awareness for pilots. The F-16 jet, unlike its predecessors, features a sidearm stick. An aircraft canopy is a transparent enclosure over the cockpit of some aircraft. It provides a controlled environment and a greater field of view. Its shape minimizes aerodynamic drag while maximizing visibility for pilots and crew members. A bubble, constructed without bracing, offers a wider, unobstructed field of view, often providing 360° all-round visibility. The designs of bubble canopies can vary, with some built into the upper rear fuselage and others flush with the fuselage. The bubble canopy gained widespread use during WWII, similar to the P-51D Mustang. F-16's Golden Canopy Modern fighters like the F-22 Raptor, F-35 , and F-16 have treatment on their canopy, made of polycarbonate or plexiglass, with a thin layer of malleable metal, typically indium tin oxide alloy or gold, between layers. This allows the section to be transparent to radar waves. On the F-16, the "golden" bubble replaced the original design, which did not have this treatment. Some F-16s have a fixed, gold rear canopy section, and the front section uses the traditional section. The gold coloring is a thin sheet of gold sandwiched between laminated plastic sheets that form the aircraft's canopy. It reduces infrared radiation and protects against laser threats. The gold coating reflects infrared light, keeping the cockpit cooler and protecting sensitive equipment and personnel from heat. It also minimizes the cockpit's visibility for infrared-guided missiles and other targeting systems. Although it does not provide radiation protection, the gold color enhances the aircraft's and crew's survivability by mitigating heat and improving stealth capabilities against certain threats. The cockpit has many edges and corners; the gold foil serves the same basic function on other aircraft. The golden color was discontinued due to its negative scratch and the low radar cross-section RCS. It is typically seen in a small window behind the pilot. Surrounding the canopy's concerns The Air Force is pursuing a maintenance project similar to Meggitt Safety Systems' contract for a two-place seat canopy actuator on the F16 from 2016. Dual-seat F-16 aircraft are in line for actuator replacement. Also, due to aging, Colorado Air National Guard maintainers are incorporating new maintenance practices to ensure the 140th Wing's F-16 Falcons and Vipers remain mission-capable and ready to defend the nation 24/7. One such practice involves repairing canopy sill longerons, which support the aircraft's structure between the frame and skin. Canopy sill longeron cracking appeared in 90 aircraft across the US Air Force inventory of F-16s in 2023, leading to a grounding tail-end. The structural integrity of the longeron is getting worse, and it is suspected to have become a fleet-wide issue. Maintenance practices and upgrade Lockheed Martin approves Derco Co., the exclusive distributor of PPG's F-16 replacement canopies, designed for peak performance in military operational environments. These made-to-spec windows feature innovative technology and surpass US Air Force performance requirements. They offer superior optical clarity and light transmittance, chemically strengthened glass for durability and compatibility with night vision systems, and a 550-knot bird-impact resistant acrylic/polycarbonate interlayered bond. Additionally, they have proprietary protective coatings for low observables and solar heat reduction. The Air Force research laboratory has developed a product called HydroSkip, which repels water from aircraft transparencies. The product aims to improve visibility during heavy rain, allowing pilots to navigate and land safely. HydroSkip is designed to prevent rain from pooling or remaining stagnant on the F-16 canopy, the transparent enclosure over the cockpit. The product will soon be available to the entire F-16 Fighting Falcon community. In November 2024, Turkey decided to modernize its Air Force's F-16s using resources developed locally in recent years. Their indigenous system replaces the Modular Mission Computer MMC and offers a flexible architecture for integrating new weapons and sensors. Turkey has also developed advanced avionics displays and interfaces for cockpit upgrades similar to those found in Lockheed Martin's F-16V Block 70/72 variant. This can be concerning, remembering the Mitsubishi F-2, Japan's fighter based on the US F-16, which was involved in a midair incident during an aerial interception on October 10, 2021. The aircraft was on its way to intercept a foreign aircraft that could trespass on Japanese airspace. However, five minutes after takeoff, the F-2's cockpit canopy and emergency ladder fell off, exposing the pilot to air mid-flight. No injuries or damage to property due to the incident have been reported. Advancing to the latest Models The US Air Force is retiring older F-16s; the newer Block 40 and Block 50 are expected to fly into the 2040s and will upgrade 608 "Post Block" F-16s through the Post Block Integration Team PoBIT project, managed by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center's Fighters and Advanced Aircraft Directorate. " In one of the largest modernization efforts in U.S. Air Force history, 608 F-16s – comprised of Blocks 40 and 50 – will undergo up to 22 modifications designed to improve lethality and ensure the fourth-generation fighter remains effective in meeting current and future threats." The US Air Force on Feb. 28, 2022 The new F-16 Block 70 fighter has a modernized Cockpit that simplifies pilot interactions and enables quicker decision-making in combat flying. Wicked Director Teases Dorothy’s Inclusion in Part Two By director Jon M. Chu has opened up about the possibility of Dorothy appearing in the film’s upcoming sequel, . What did Jon M. Chu say about Dorothy’s inclusion in Wicked: Part Two? Speaking to Variety following the film’s release, Chu was asked whether or not Dorothy — the iconic character from The Wizard of Oz — would appear in the film’s sequel, as she does in the musical that the films are based off of. While Chu wouldn’t give away any exact information, he did note it’s almost inevitable. “In the show, Dorothy is around. They have to intersect, and you can only tease it so much. I won’t say whether she’s a character, necessarily, in movie two. There’s a part of me that wants everyone’s Dorothy to be whatever Dorothy they want. And yet, there is interaction and some crossover. So I’ll leave that up to Part Two.” Dorothy does appear in the latter half of the Wicked musical, as the play intersects with the events of The Wizard of Oz. This is true of Gregory Maguire’s novel, as well. It’s unclear whether or not she’ll appear, although rumors have swirled about who could play her. The movies are directed by Jon M. Chu from a screenplay written by the musical’s book writer Winnie Holzman. It is based on Maguire’s bestselling novel and the Tony-winning stage musical. The ensemble cast is led by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, who play Galinda Upland and Elphaba Thropp in the film, respectively. The rest of the cast includes Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero Tigelaar, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard of Oz, Peter Dinklage as Doctor Dillamond, Bowen Yang as Pfannee, Keala Settle as Miss Coddle, Marissa Bode as Nessarose Thropp, Bronwyn James as ShenShen, Ethan Slater as Boq, and more. “The film tells the untold story of the witches of Oz: Elphaba, a young woman, misunderstood because of her unusual green skin, who has yet to discover her true power; and Glinda, a popular young woman, gilded by privilege and ambition, who has yet to discover her true heart,” reads the official synopsis. “The two meet as students at Shiz University in the fantastical Land of Oz and forge an unlikely but profound friendship. Following an encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads and their lives take very different paths.” Glinda’s unflinching desire for popularity sees her seduced by power, while Elphaba’s determination to remain true to herself, and to those around her, will have unexpected and shocking consequences on her future. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfill their destinies as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.” Wicked: Part One is out now in theaters. The sequel, , is currently set for November 21, 2025. (Source: ) Anthony Nash has been writing about games and the gaming industry for nearly a decade. Residents of Vaartbroek in Eindhoven are unhappy about the city council’s idea to add a thousand homes to the area. According to local residents, the first plan leads to unnecessary demolition of social housing. Balance More expensive housing in the neighbourhood does not always lead to a positive result. It can also lead to alienation and rejection of the current residents.“The balance is being rudely disrupted, no more cohesion, reduced visibility, loss of social control, increase in anonymity, a very large hidden problem as a result. Studies show that the behaviour and well-being of residents and the associated social cohesion cannot be designed in planning terms,” the letter states. Instead of demolishing social housing now located at the Amandelpark, it would be much better to build new housing at the Braambesweg, with spacious plots with bungalows. On the surface on which those three houses are located, there are 21 single-family homes at the Amandelpark, according to the residents. According to them, it would make more sense to buy out the residents of those buildings. The Socialist Party (SP) supports the residents. The faction is submitting a motion advocating that the city’s growth should not fall solely on the shoulders of tenants. The SP also sees the plots on the Braambesweg as a place where the city government’s plans can come to fruition. The faction generally calls on the city government to ‘look at the possibilities of private ownership’ when realising new construction projects. The motion and the plan will be voted on Tuesday evening, November 26. Source: Studio040 Translated by: Seetha Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment. JPMorgan Chase & Co. Reduces Stock Position in Royal Bank of Canada (NYSE:RY)Andrej Jakimovski hit a layup with 8 seconds left, and Colorado upset No. 2 UConn 73-72 in the consolation bracket of the Maui Invitational on Tuesday in Lahaina, Hawaii. Colorado (5-1) rallied from down 11 in the first half to get the win over the two-time defending national champions Huskies. Jakimovski finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds and Julian Hammond III and Elijah Malone each scored 16 for the Buffaloes, who advanced to the fifth-place game in Maui on Wednesday. Down 72-71, Jakimovski drove the right side of the lane and made a scoop shot as he was falling down. UConn called timeout to set up the final play but Hassan Diarra missed a 3-pointer with 2 seconds left. Liam McNeeley led UConn with 20 points, Solo Ball scored 16 and Diarra finished with 11. The Huskies (4-2) lost two straight for the first time since dropping three in a row from Jan. 11-18, 2023. Colorado trailed by eight at halftime and Diarra hit two 3-pointers early in the second half that made it 46-37. The Buffaloes scored the next 11 points to take a 48-46 lead, their first of the game. Hammond bookended that run with a pair of triples. UConn went back in front 55-52 on Tarris Reed Jr.'s driving layup but Malone's bucket with 8:34 left tied it at 59. McNeeley's hook shot gave the Huskies a 63-60 lead before Jakimovski drained a 3-pointer to tie it again with 5:16 left. Ball hit a 3-pointer and a layup to give UConn a five-point lead but Colorado got within 70-69 on two free throws by Malone with 2:04 left. A putback from Jaylin Stewart made it a three-point game with 1:29 remaining. Malone answered with a layup, Javon Ruffin blocked Diarra's shot and Colorado got an offensive rebound with 24 seconds left to set up the winning basket. McNeeley made his first four shots from deep and had 16 points by intermission to lead the Huskies. Colorado had opportunities to make it a close game by halftime but went just 12-for-19 from the foul line and trailed 40-32. UConn attempted only four free throws in the first half and had five players with two or more fouls, including Reed, who had three. --Field Level MediaORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov 27, 2024-- CDB Aviation, a wholly owned Irish subsidiary of China Development Bank Financial Leasing Co., Limited (“CDB Leasing”), announced today the completion of a sale transaction for two Airbus A330-200 aircraft with National Airlines (“National”). The five-year restoration is widely seen as a boost for French President Emmanuel Macron, who championed the ambitious timeline, and brings a welcome respite from his domestic political woes. World leaders, dignitaries, and worshippers gathered on Saturday evening for the celebrations under the cathedral's soaring arches. The celebration was attended by 1,500 dignitaries, including President-elect Donald Trump, Britain’s Prince William, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. For Catholics, Notre Dame’s rector said the cathedral “carries the enveloping presence of the Virgin Mary, a maternal and embracing presence.′′ Trump is welcomed by Macron to Paris with presidential pomp and joined by Zelenskyy for their talks PARIS (AP) — French President Emmanuel Macron has welcomed Donald Trump to Paris with a full a dose of presidential pomp. And they held a hastically-arranged meeting with Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy on a day that's mixing pageantry with attention to pressing global problems. Syrian insurgents reach the capital's suburbs. Worried residents flee and stock up on supplies BEIRUT (AP) — Insurgents’ stunning march across Syria is gaining speed with news that they have reached the suburbs of the capital of Damascus. The government on Saturday was forced to deny rumors that President Bashar Assad had fled the country. The rebels’ moves around Damascus were reported by an opposition war monitor and a rebel commander. They came after the Syrian army withdrew from much of southern part of the country, leaving more areas, including two provincial capitals, under the control of opposition fighters. The advances in the past week were among the largest in recent years by opposition factions. The factions are by a group that has its origins in al-Qaida and is considered a terrorist organization by the U.S. and the United Nations. Trump isn't back in office but he's already pushing his agenda and negotiating with world leaders NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump is making threats, traveling abroad, and negotiating with world leaders. He has more than a month-and-a-half to go before he’s sworn in for a second term. But the president-elect is already moving aggressively to not only fill his Cabinet and outline policy goals, but also to try to achieve his priorities. In recent days, Trump has threatened to impose a 25% tariff on goods from Canada and Mexico, two of the country’s largest trading partners. That led to emergency calls and a visit. And he's warned of “ALL HELL TO PAY” if Hamas doesn't release the hostages still being held captive in Gaza. South Korea's president avoids an impeachment attempt over short-lived martial law SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — South Korea’s embattled President Yoon Suk Yeol has avoided an opposition-led attempt to impeach him over his short-lived imposition of martial law. Most of Yoon's ruling party lawmakers boycotted a parliamentary vote Saturday to deny a two-thirds majority needed to suspend his presidential powers. The scrapping of the motion is expected to intensify protests calling for Yoon’s ouster and deepen political chaos in South Korea. A survey suggests a majority of South Koreans support the president’s impeachment. Yoon’s martial law declaration drew criticism from his own ruling conservative People Power Party. But the party also apparently fears losing the presidency to liberals. Days after gunman killed UnitedHealthcare's CEO, police push to ID him and FBI offers reward NEW YORK (AP) — Nearly four days after the shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, police still do not know the gunman’s name or whereabouts or have a motive for the killing. But they have made some progress in their investigation into Wednesday's killing of the leader of the largest U.S. health insurer, including that the gunman likely left New York City on a bus soon after fleeing the scene. The also found that the gunman left something behind: a backpack that was discovered in Central Park. Police are working with the FBI, which on Friday night announced a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. UnitedHealthcare CEO's shooting opens a door for many to vent frustrations over insurance The fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare's CEO has opened the door for many people to vent their frustrations and anger over the insurance industry. The feelings of exasperation, anger, resentment, and helplessness toward insurers aren’t new. But the shooting and the headlines around it have unleashed a new wave of patients sharing such sentiments and personal stories of interactions with insurance companies. Conversations at dinner tables, office water coolers, social gatherings and on social media have pivoted to the topic. Many say they hope the new amplified voices can bring about change for companies often accused of valuing profits over people. 100-year-old Pearl Harbor survivor recalls confusion and chaos during Japanese bombing 83 years ago PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii (AP) — The bombing of Pearl Harbor 83 years ago launched the United States into World War II. Two survivors are planning to return to the Hawaii military base on Saturday for a remembrance ceremony on the attack's anniversary. They are each over 100 years old. They will join active-duty troops, veterans and members of the public for a remembrance ceremony hosted by the Navy and the National Park Service. A third survivor was planning to join them but had to cancel due to health issues. The bombing killed more than 2,300 U.S. servicemen. An explosion destroys an apartment block in a Dutch city, killing at least 3 and injuring others THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — An explosion and fire has rocked a neighborhood in the Dutch city of The Hague, killing three people and injuring other people and destroying several apartments. The cause of the disaster is unclear. Emergency authorities said four people were rescued from the rubble and taken to the hospital. The mayor said rescuers were no longer looking for survivors but for eventual bodies, but could not specify how many people might still be unaccounted for. Residents of the northeastern neighborhood of Mariahoeve in The Hague heard a huge bang and screams before dawn. Dutch authorities have deployed a specialized urban search and rescue team to find victims. How 'Mufasa' rose with Aaron Pierre and Blue Ivy's voices along with new Lin-Manuel Miranda music SAN DIEGO (AP) — When Aaron Pierre was cast as Mufasa, the weight of following in the late James Earl Jones’ legendary footsteps was enough to rattle any actor. But instead of letting the pressure roar too loudly, he harnessed his nerves to breathe fresh life into his young lion character. Pierre found parallels between himself and his character while filming his leading role in “Mufasa: The Lion King,” which opens in theaters Dec. 20. He took the reigns as the new voice of Mufasa after Jones played the iconic King Mufasa in both the 1994 and 2019 versions of Disney’s “The Lion King.” The prequel offers a fresh exploration into Mufasa’s origin story.

NoneOn Football analyzes the biggest topics in the NFL from week to week. For more On Football analysis, head here . Saquon Barkley has become the Shohei Ohtani of the NFL. There’s no better home run hitter playing football right now. Barkley had touchdown runs of 72 and 70 yards for the Philadelphia Eagles in a 37-20 victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night. He now has five runs of 50-plus yards this season and is on pace to break Eric Dickerson’s single-season record of 2,105 yards set in 1984. Barkley’s historic performance against the Rams — his 255 yards set a team record — captivated a national audience and turned him into a fan favorite for the AP NFL MVP award. He’s not the betting favorite, however. Josh Allen has the best odds at plus-150, according to Bet MGM Sportsbook. Two-time MVP Lamar Jackson is next at plus-250 followed by Barkley at plus-400. Running backs have won the award 18 times, including three-time winner Jim Brown, who was the AP’s first NFL MVP in 1957. Quarterbacks have dominated the award, winning it 45 times. Only three players who weren’t QBs or RBs have been MVP. It takes a special season for a non-QB to win it mainly because the offense goes through the signal caller. Quarterbacks handle the ball every offensive snap, run the show and get the credit when things go well and the blame when it doesn’t. Adrian Peterson was the most recent non-QB to win it when he ran for 2,097 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Minnesota Vikings in 2012. Playing for a winning team matters, too. Nine of the past 11 winners played for a No. 1 seed with the other two winners on a No. 2 seed. The Vikings earned the sixth seed when Pederson was MVP. Barkley is a major reason why the Eagles (9-2) are leading the NFC East and only trail Detroit (10-1) by one game for the top spot in the conference. Does he have a realistic chance to win the MVP award? Kicker Mark Moseley was the MVP in the strike-shortened 1982 season when he made 20 of 21 field goals and 16 of 19 extra points in nine games for Washington. If voters once selected a kicker, everyone has a chance, especially a game-changer such as Barkley. Defensive tackle Alan Page was the MVP in 1971 and linebacker Lawrence Taylor won it in 1986. Running back Christian McCaffrey finished third in voting last year and wide receiver Justin Jefferson placed fifth in 2022. The Offensive Player of the Year award and Defensive Player of the Year award recognize the best all-around players on both sides of the ball, allowing voters to recognize non-QBs if they choose. Wide receivers and running backs have won the AP OPOY award seven times over the past 11 seasons. McCaffrey was the 2023 winner. The AP’s new voting format introduced in 2022 also gives non-QBs a better opportunity to get MVP recognition. Voter submit their top five picks for each award, with a weighted point system. Previously, voters made one choice for each award. A nationwide panel of 50 media members who regularly cover the league vote for MVP and seven other awards. The awards are based on regular-season performance. The Chiefs (10-1) and Bills (9-2) already are in position to lock up postseason berths right after Thanksgiving. Kansas City clinches a playoff berth with a win over Las Vegas on Black Friday and a loss by Miami on Thursday night, or a win plus a loss by Denver on Monday night. Buffalo can wrap up a fifth straight AFC East title with a victory over San Francisco on Sunday and a loss by the Dolphins. It’s not a given that the Dallas Cowboys will be looking for a new head coach after this season. Owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday on local radio that Mike McCarthy could end up getting a contract extension. “I don’t think that’s crazy at all. This is a Super Bowl-winning coach. Mike McCarthy has been there and done that. He has great ideas. We got a lot of football left,” Jones said. McCarthy led the Cowboys (4-7) to three straight 12-win seasons, but they went 1-3 in the playoffs and haven’t reached the NFC championship game since winning the Super Bowl 29 years ago. Injuries have contributed to the team’s struggles this season, but Dallas was just 3-5 before Dak Prescott was lost for the rest of the season. The Cowboys upset Washington last week and their next four games are against teams that currently have losing records. If they somehow end up 9-8 or even 8-9, Jones could make a case for keeping McCarthy. AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/nfl

Hyundai Motor and Kia's Robotics LAB Announce Plans to Launch 'X-ble Shoulder' at Wearable Robot Tech DayAbortion has become slightly more common despite bans or deep restrictions in most Republican-controlled states, and the legal and political fights over its future are not over yet. It's now been two and a half years since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and opened the door for states to implement bans. The policies and their impact have been in flux ever since the ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. Here's a look at data on where things stand: Overturning Roe and enforcing abortion bans has changed how woman obtain abortions in the U.S. But one thing it hasn't done is put a dent in the number of abortions being obtained. There have been slightly more monthly abortions across the country recently than there were in the months leading up to the June 2022 ruling, even as the number in states with bans dropped to near zero. “Abortion bans don’t actually prevent abortions from happening,” said Ushma Upadhyay, a public health social scientist at the University of California San Francisco. But, she said, they do change care. For women in some states, there are major obstacles to getting abortions — and advocates say that low-income, minority and immigrant women are least likely to be able to get them when they want. For those living in states with bans, the ways to access abortion are through travel or abortion pills. As the bans swept in, abortion pills became a bigger part of the equation. They were involved in about half the abortions before Dobbs. More recently, it’s been closer to two-thirds of them, according to research by the Guttmacher Institute. The uptick of that kind of abortion, usually involving a combination of two drugs, was underway before the ruling. But now, it's become more common for pill prescriptions to be made by telehealth. By the summer of 2024, about 1 in 10 abortions was via pills prescribed via telehealth to patients in states where abortion is banned. As a result, the pills are now at the center of battles over abortion access. This month, Texas sued a New York doctor for prescribing pills to a Texas woman via telemedicine. There's also an effort by Idaho, Kansas and Missouri to roll back their federal approvals and treat them as “controlled dangerous substances,” and a push for the federal government to start enforcing a 19th-century federal law to ban mailing them. Clinics have closed or halted abortions in states with bans. But a network of efforts to get women seeking abortions to places where they're legal has strengthened and travel for abortion is now common. The Guttmacher Institute found that more than twice as many Texas residents obtained abortion in 2023 in New Mexico as New Mexico residents did. And as many Texans received them in Kansas as Kansans. Abortion funds, which benefitted from “rage giving” in 2022, have helped pay the costs for many abortion-seekers. But some funds have had to cap how much they can give . Since the downfall of Roe, the actions of lawmakers and courts have kept shifting where abortion is legal and under what conditions. Here's where it stands now: Florida, the nation’s third most-populous state, began enforcing a ban on abortions after the first six weeks of pregnancy on May 1. That immediately changed the state from one that was a refuge for other Southerners seeking abortion to an exporter of people looking for them. There were about 30% fewer abortions there in May compared with the average for the first three months of the year. And in June, there were 35% fewer. While the ban is not unique, the impact is especially large. The average driving time from Florida to a facility in North Carolina where abortion is available for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy is more than nine hours, according to data maintained by Caitlin Myers, a Middlebury College economics professor. The bans have meant clinics closed or stopped offering abortions in some states. But some states where abortion remains legal until viability – generally considered to be sometime past 21 weeks of pregnancy , though there’s no fixed time for it – have seen clinics open and expand . Illinois, Kansas and New Mexico are among the states with new clinics. There were 799 publicly identifiable abortion providers in the U.S. in May 2022, the month before the Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade. And by this November, it was 792, according to a tally by Myers, who is collecting data on abortion providers. But Myers says some hospitals that always provided some abortions have begun advertising it. So they’re now in the count of clinics – even though they might provide few of them. How hospitals handle pregnancy complications , especially those that threaten the lives of the women, has emerged as a major issue since Roe was overturned. President Joe Biden's administration says hospitals must offer abortions when they're needed to prevent organ loss, hemorrhage or deadly infections, even in states with bans. Texas is challenging the administration’s policy and the U.S. Supreme Court this year declined to take it up after the Biden administration sued Idaho. More than 100 pregnant women seeking help in emergency rooms and were turned away or left unstable since 2022, The Associated Press found in an analysis of federal hospital investigative records. Among the complaints were a woman who miscarried in the lobby restroom of Texas emergency room after staff refused to see her and a woman who gave birth in a car after a North Carolina hospital couldn't offer an ultrasound. The baby later died. “It is increasingly less safe to be pregnant and seeking emergency care in an emergency department,” Dara Kass, an emergency medicine doctor and former U.S. Health and Human Services official told the AP earlier this year. Since Roe was overturned, there have been 18 reproductive rights-related statewide ballot questions. Abortion rights advocates have prevailed on 14 of them and lost on four. In the 2024 election , they amended the constitutions in five states to add the right to abortion. Such measures failed in three states: In Florida, where it required 60% support; in Nebraska, which had competing abortion ballot measures; and in South Dakota, where most national abortion rights groups did support the measure. AP VoteCast data found that more than three-fifths of voters in 2024 supported abortion being legal in all or most cases – a slight uptick from 2020. The support came even as voters supported Republicans to control the White House and both houses of Congress. Associated Press writers Linley Sanders, Amanda Seitz and Laura Ungar contributed to this article.None

fb777 apk Mumbai: Ultra high networth investors, primarily from several family offices , made inquiries with foreign banks and bond dealers to buy Adani Group bonds as the instruments lost nearly 10 points in the aftermath of the US indictment in an alleged bribery case involving a locally listed unit of the infrastructure conglomerate. "Family offices were active in the market late Wednesday and Thursday, with trades worth about $50 million reported," said a debt market source. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) bonds, which fell from 96 cents to 92 cents Thursday, were trading at 90-91 cents Friday evening. Adani Green Energy 's 6.7% March-issued bonds, which traded at 84/85 cents Thursday, held steady at the same levels Friday evening. "There was activity in the Adani bond counters, with most institutional holders acting as sellers," said a trader familiar with the matter. "Mutual funds primarily offloaded their positions, while family offices are believed to have been buyers." Agencies Family offices often operate through private banking accounts with institutions such as Barclays or Nomura, which purchase bonds on their behalf, the trader added. Adani Green Energy's (AGEL) $600-million bond issuance, scheduled for launch Wednesday night, was scrapped after the indictment became public. The proceeds from this issue were intended to refinance $340 million in project-level loans due by March 2025 and $260 million by March 2026. The bond withdrawal raises significant refinancing risks for AGEL, CreditSights said in a report. AGEL has an additional $600 million in project loans tied to other restricted groups maturing by March 2025. The company had planned to refinance the loan through the Indian bond market. However, CreditSights said that the negative cash flow position and prolonged legal overhang could deter banks from rolling over or refinancing the debt. Given its debt payment needs, AGEL may need to explore alternative funding avenues, including equity support from the Adani family, strategic asset sales to partners like TotalEnergies, or private credit funding, CreditSights added. fb777 slots login philippines TWO more celebrities have been booted out of the jungle tonight – with just days before the final. Alan Halsall and GK Barry said goodbye to their campmates after being told they had narrowly missed out on a place in the semi-final by Ant and Dec . Just four celebs now remain and they will be taking on the celebrity cyclone ahead of someone being crowned king or queen of the jungle this weekend. They are Coleen Rooney, Richard Coles, Danny Jones and Oti Mabuse . Dancing on Ice judge Oti won a ticket to Celebrity Cyclone and immunity from eviction yesterday after beating Danny Jones , Maura Higgins and Coleen Rooney in a trial. The news didn’t go down well with those watching at home, with many particularly upset about losing GK. Read More on I'm A Celebrity One person commented: “I'm sick at who went home tonight. she should be there instead of colleen sorry.” A second added: “SO gutted GK Barry is gone. Colleen is nice and all but this series wouldn’t have been the same without GK! Absolutely robbed of the final in my opinion.” And a third said: “This has been a good series but how has the UK voted out the two most entertaining people within the space of 24 hours.” Speaking after her exit, TikTok star GK said: "I can’t believe I looked like that on television." Most read in I’m A Celebrity 2024 Asked how she found it, she told Ant and Dec: "It was worse, it was so difficult. I thought it would be tanning, a few trials. But that was hell, I wouldn’t put my worst enemy through that." Yesterday the camp were left gobsmacked as they said goodbye to boxing champ Barry McGuigan , known as the Clones Cyclone, who was booted out with Love Island star Maura. They follow Jane Moore , Dean McCullough , Tulisa Contostavlos , and Melvin Odoom in leaving the camp. It was a highly emotional episode this evening as the stars were reunited with their loved ones. Coleen was stunned to see Kit, eight, and six-year-old Cass along with her mum Colette McLoughlin in the Aussie jungle. They were snuck in by producers for a special friends and families reunion episode after spending nearly four weeks apart – leaving her in floods of tears. McFly singer Danny Jones, 38, embraced wife Georgia , 37, and their six-year-old son Cooper, while Oti had a reunion with husband Marius Iepure, 42. i'm A Celebrity is back for its 24th series, with a batch of famous faces living in the Aussie jungle. Barry McGuigan - Former pro boxer Barry is the latest fighting champ to head Down Under following in the footsteps of Tony Bellew and Amir Khan . Maura Higgins - The Irish TV beauty first found fame on Love Island where she found a brief connection with dancer Curtis Pritchard . Since then, she has competed on Dancing On Ice as well as hosting the Irish version of the beauty contest, Glow Up. Since last year, she has been working on building up her career in the US by being the social media correspondent and host of Aftersun to accompany Love Island USA. Richard Coles - Former BBC radio host the Rev Richard Coles is a late arrival on I’m A Celebrity , and he's ready to spill the beans on his former employer. The former Communards and Strictly star , said the BBC did not know its a**e from its elbow last year. An insider said: "Rev Coles will have a variety of tales to tell from his wild days as a pop star in the Eighties, through to performing on Strictly and his later life as a man of the cloth."Global stocks mostly rose Tuesday, with US and German indices posting records, as markets weighed Chinese stimulus hopes, political tensions in France and the US interest-rate outlook. Germany's blue-chip DAX stock index jumped above 20,000 points for the first time and Paris rebounded even as France braced for new political turmoil. In New York, both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq narrowly rose to finish at records, while the Dow pulled back. Oil prices jumped more than two percent following reports that crude exporters were near an agreement to extend production limits. A closely-watched labor market report showed an increase in US job openings in October, but also a decline in new job postings during the month, a less upbeat sign. Samuel Tombs, chief US economist at Pantheon Macroeconomics, said the data overall provides "good grounds" for the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates again this month. Still, the choppiness of Tuesday's trading session in New York points to reticence among US investors following a series of post-election records that many pundits believe have left stocks overvalued. "There wasn't a lot of conviction behind the upside moves," said Briefing.com . "The overall vibe in the market was more negative." Stocks in Paris edged higher even as France headed into a new political crisis as opposition lawmakers vowed to topple the minority government of Prime Minister Michel Barnier in a no-confidence vote after just three months in office. Germany's DAX, meanwhile, scored a fresh milestone, defying multiple headwinds battering Europe's biggest economy. The German economy, hit hard by a manufacturing slowdown and weak demand for its exports, has struggled in 2024. Yet the DAX has advanced in large part because companies in the index do heavy business abroad. In addition, the euro's recent weakness has boosted Germany's export-oriented companies, while easing interest rates both in the eurozone and the United States have also helped sentiment. Investors greeted a Bloomberg report that China's top leaders, including President Xi Jinping, would hold a two-day economic work conference next week to outline their targets and stimulus plans for next year. The report followed manufacturing activity data on Monday that suggested China's economic struggles may be coming to an end, but investors are looking for Beijing to step up support for the economy. The news helped push Hong Kong and Shanghai stock markets higher despite Washington announcing new export restrictions taking aim at Beijing's ability to make advanced semiconductors. The moves step up existing US efforts to tighten curbs on exports of state-of-the-art AI chips to China. Beijing hit back by saying it would restrict exports to the United States of some key components in making semiconductors. Oil prices jumped ahead of a meeting Thursday of members of the OPEC oil cartel and its allies "The forecast is that they will announce an extension until the end of the first quarter of 2025, and this should help put a floor under prices," said Trade Nation analyst David Morrison. The streets of Damascus are uncharacteristically empty on Saturday night, Zaina Shahla, a 42-year-old journalist living in the centre of the Syrian capital, tells the BBC. After a "normal" morning, she said the streets were filled with people trying to stock up on supplies as reports emerged of rebel fighters heading for the city from both north and south. Now, everyone seems to have gone home - the uncertainty of the situation creating a "sense of fear" among residents. "We are afraid because we really don't know what's going to happen," Ms Shahla said. "Nobody wants to see fighting in Damascus." She added: "Everything is ambiguous and nothing is clear for anyone." Her sentiments are echoed by Rim Turkmani, director of the Syria Conflict Research Programme at the London School of Economics. Her sister in Damascus told her that shops are closing, supplies are running low and ATMs are out of cash, she said. "No one knows what's happening," Ms Turkmani told the BBC. Damascus has not seen the same degree of violence in Syria's decade-long civil war, creating a sense of stability among some of its residents, Ms Shahla said. "If any change is going to happen, it won't be easy." But reports suggest a turning tide is already sweeping through the city's suburbs as rebel fighters led by opposition group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) make sweeping territorial gains from the north of the country. An unnamed US official told the BBC's US partner, CBS News, that Damascus appears to be "falling suburb by suburb to the rebels". The rebels themselves claim to have "encircled" the city. Video footage appeared to show a statue of President Bashar al-Assad's late father, Hafez al-Assad, being torn down by protesters in the southern suburb of Jaramana. Syria's state news agency claimed "sleeper cells" were publishing clips on social media from public areas of Damascus to suggest they had taken control of them "with the aim of spreading chaos among citizens". The Syrian government meanwhile denied rumours that Assad had fled the city. Moreover, the interior minister has said there was a "very strong" military cordon around the capital. But government forces have notably failed to provide any such defence in the cities, towns and villages that have fallen to rebel factions. Rebel forces led by the Islamist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) have made a lightning advance over the past fortnight after launching a surprise offensive, capturing the north-western cities of Aleppo and Hama before continuing south and entering parts of the strategically important city of Homs. Their progress has sparked an uprising by allied rebels in the southern region of Daraa, who have taken control of parts of the region. The UN has said it is withdrawing "non-critical" staff from Syria amid the evolving situation. HTS has pledged to protect international organisations operating in the country. The UN envoy to Syria has called for an orderly transition of power, as well as "urgent political talks" to implement a Security Council resolution that seeks a negotiated transition between the Syrian government and opposition. Speaking in Doha on Saturday, Geir Pedersen said representatives of Iran, Russia, Turkey, the US, France, the UK, Germany and the EU had expressed their support for a diplomatic resolution. Damascus's residents have differing views about a rebel takeover, Ms Shahla said, but are bracing themselves for the possibility of armed conflict on their doorstep. Her family have remained throughout Syria's civil war, and have not considered fleeing - until now. While they are not planning on leaving yet, she said, "if things escalate in a dramatic way or a dangerous way, maybe we will think about it". Additional reporting by Jake Lapham

SAINT PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Kendall Blue and Nolan Minessale had 22 points each in St. Thomas' 88-81 victory over Montana on Saturday. Miles Barnstable had 17 points for the Tommies (7-4). Malik Moore led the Grizzlies (6-4) with 30 points. Money Williams added 14 points, six rebounds and four assists for Montana. Jensen Bradtke had 11 points. The Associated Press created this story using technology provided by Data Skrive and data from Sportradar .The Gunners took two points out of Liverpool’s lead at the summit of the Premier League after Jurrien Timber and William Saliba struck in the second half – both from corners – to condemn Amorim to his first defeat as United boss. The hosts’ second-half strikes took their goals-from-corners tally to 22 since the start of last season – a statistic that is unmatched by any other team in the division. Asked if Arsenal are one of the best teams he has come up against on corners, Amorim replied: “If you follow the Premier League for a long time you can see that. “They are also big players and you see every occasion when (Gabriel) Martinelli and (Bukayo) Saka have one-on-ones, a lot of times they go outside and they cross, and they know that if the cross goes well, they can score, and if it is a corner they can score, too, so we have to be better on that. “You have seen in all Arsenal games that every team have had problems with that (corners). And the difference today was the set-pieces. “You see a goal and then the momentum changed, and it is really hard for us to take the full control of the game after that.” Timber leaned into Rasmus Hojlund at the front post before diverting Declan Rice’s set-piece into the back of Andre Onana’s net after 54 minutes to send Arsenal into the lead. Thomas Partey’s header from Saka’s corner then deflected in off Saliba’s shoulder with 17 minutes left. Arteta and the club’s set-piece guru Nicolas Jover embraced on the touchline as Amorim was left with his head in his hands. The Arsenal supporters cheered raucously every time they won a corner – landing 13 in all without reply. However, Arteta moved to play down the significance of Arsenal’s set-piece threat. “We need that, but we want to be very dangerous and very effective from every angle and every phase of play,” said Arteta. “Today we could have scored from open play like we did against West Ham and Sporting. Last year we scored the most goals in the history of this football club. Arsenal have won four consecutive Premier League matches against Man Utd for the first time ever! 💫 pic.twitter.com/biv1kvsJEP — Premier League (@premierleague) December 4, 2024 “Not because of only set-pieces, but because of a lot of things that we have. We want to create individual and magic moments, too.” Arsenal’s win against United – the first time they have recorded four victories in a row against the Red Devils in the league – was their fourth in succession since the international break. They will head to Fulham on Sunday bidding to keep the momentum going. Arteta continued: “The will to win is there. We try our best to do that. We won four in a row, but it doesn’t matter. We have to go to Fulham now, try to be better than them and try win the game. “It’s every three days that we play. It’s a crazy schedule. We’re going to need everybody and to mentally be very strong.”

Ottawa man and woman face drug charges after south-end traffic stopA meeting on agricultural sector development coordination was held yesterday morning at the meeting hall of the Union Minister’s Office of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation. It was attended by Union Minister U Min Naung, deputy ministers, permanent secretaries, directors-general of the departments, officials, heads of regional and state agriculture departments, heads of oil crop special zones, and heads of training schools. During the meeting, the Union minister delivered a speech stating that the government has formulated policies for the development of the agricultural sector to ensure domestic food security, increase export production, and boost the national economy. He also mentioned that the needs of all sectors are being addressed. In efforts to significantly improve agricultural production, the performance of the heads of the regional, state, district, and township agriculture departments — who work closely with farmers — is crucial. Therefore, it is necessary to implement measures to effectively enhance farmers’ interest in farming, including improving crop quality, strengthening the market, fetching good prices, and focusing on seed, soil, water, and technology-related activities. The deputy ministers then discussed ways to promote cooperation between relevant departments for the development of the agricultural sector, ensure strict compliance with financial regulations, enforce the rental of departmental buildings following procedures, and effectively utilize digital communication technology to ensure continuous interaction between civil servants, experts, researchers, and farmers. The permanent secretary and directors-general of the departments continued the discussion by presenting issues related to achieving target yields of major crops, including rice and oil crops, expanding the cultivation of industrial raw materials and market crops, and ensuring the accuracy of basic statistics on acreage and yield by crop. The Union minister delivered a concluding speech. — MNA/TKO

fb777 app download for android What is an Enclave? An Enclave is a midsize SUV built in the General Motors Lansing, Michigan assembly plant and sold in North America by Buick. The Enclave is a good midsize SUV with a lengthy list of standard infotainment features, a cushioned ride and a powerful turbo engine. It also has some of the roomiest accommodations in the entire midsize SUV segment, with 3 rows of seats for 7 passengers and all their gear. The 2025 Buick Enclave Sport Touring is a sporty SUV that offers sophisticated features like a blacked out mesh grille and sleek 20′′ styled alloy wheels with a glossy black finish that makes it a sharp looking SUV. And one that you can instantly recognize as a Buick, as the tri-shield Buick logo is on the hood, deck lid, steering wheel and on all 4 wheel center caps. The tri-shield red, white and blue colored logo and its American symbolism, came to represent Buick in 1960. It remains in place on every Buick they build today. The 2025 Enclave is offered in 3 trim levels: Preferred, Sport Touring and Avenir. All Enclave models are powered by the same turbocharged 2.5 liter 4 cylinder gas engine with 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque. This engine is shared with the Chevrolet Traverse and the GMC Acadia and like those models, the Buick Enclave has an 8 speed automatic transmission and comes in either front wheel drive (FWD) or all wheel drive (AWD). Fuel economy for this AWD model is 19 MPG highway, 24 MPG highway and a respectable 21 MPG in combined everyday driving. To showcase this new 2025 Enclave, this week Buick sent me a Sport Touring edition to test drive and review. The base window sticker price for this AWD model is $47,400. The options on the test SUV are: the Super Cruise package for $3,255, the special tintcoat paint for $645, and the AWD system for $2,000. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP), including the $1,395 destination charge, is: $53,300. After adding in the state and local sales tax, plus the DMV and dealer fees, the out the door and in your garage total purchase price came to: $59,963. At just $37 bucks under $60 Grand, this 2025 Buick SUV has all the best equipment for a great Sport Touring SUV. It includes over a 300 HP engine, AWD, Super Cruise and a super comfortable interior with power everything that is loaded up with high tech features.. For just under $60,000, you get everything you need with none of the silly stuff. Some of the special features included are enhanced automatic parking assist, super cruise, rear seating safety alert, forward collision alert, following distance alert, rear parking assist, blind zone steering assist, front pedestrian and bicyclist alert, reverse automatic braking, advanced adaptive cruise control, enhanced intersection automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, rear pedestrian alert, high definition surround vision, and traffic sign recognition; just to name a few of the best ones. According to recent reviews and reliability studies, Buicks are considered to be very good cars today, ranking highly for reliability and offering a comfortable driving experience with a focus on luxury features, particularly in terms of their interior quality. Many consider them a solid choice for those seeking a dependable and comfortable vehicle with a premium feel, at a relatively accessible price point. Plus, Buick is the oldest surviving American auto brand, founded in 1903, that made the first production vehicles with an automatic transmission, traction control, and CRT screens in their cars. You should consider buying a 2025 Buick Enclave SUV if you prioritize a spacious, comfortable, and luxurious interior; particularly for large families. While also wanting a good selection of advanced technology, including hands free driving capabilities, it is all wrapped up in a stylish and refined design, with agile handling and one with the largest interior space in the 3 row midsize SUV class. So, call, click or visit your local Buick dealer for a test drive, and a Bottom Line price review, on the 2025 Enclave Sport Touring AWD SUV. Celebrate the Season with Snoopy Decorations at Lowe's

In the last two years, artificial intelligence (AI) has attracted more investment interest than any other theme. To me, the real start of the AI frenzy was November 30, 2022. That's the day OpenAI released ChatGPT to the world. Since then, the S&P 500 index ( ^GSPC -0.00% ) has gained 49% while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite ( ^IXIC 0.12% ) has surged by 75% (as of market close on Dec. 11). During times like these, it is easy for investors to fall into the trap of bubble psychology, believing that the market will continue to go up in perpetuity. A related topic for this phenomenon is called the Greater Fool Theory -- an idea that explores the notion of investors paying a premium for assets because they think prices will continue appreciating, causing someone else (the greater fool) to pay even more. In the piece below, I'm going to break down how influential megatrends have fared in years past. I will also examine historical capital market performance after similar periods of rapid growth. Could AI stocks be on the cusp of breaking out even further in 2025, or are you about to become the Greater Fool? Let's find out. Focused view: How have recent megatrends fared? In my opinion, the last big megatrend before AI mania was the introduction of blockchain technology . A simple explanation for blockchain is to think of it as a giant ledger for transactions. While there are myriad use cases for blockchain, two of the more common applications sit in the worlds of cryptocurrency and fintech. Although the idea of blockchain has been floating around for decades, I'd argue that the technology only became mainstream over the last 10 years or so. In the chart below, I've benchmarked a number of blockchain exchange-traded funds (ETF) against the S&P 500 and Nasdaq over the last several years. BLOK data by YCharts . As you can see, the Amplify Transformational Data Sharing ETF actually performed relatively on par with the Nasdaq and even outpaced the S&P 500 since 2018. Moreover, the First Trust Indxx Innovative Transaction & Process ETF 's return of 59% is quite impressive in its own right. Let's take a look at what is actually in these ETFs before jumping to the conclusion that blockchain is a superior opportunity to that of the broader market. Amplify Transformational Data Sharing ETF: According to the fund's website, some of the ETF's largest holdings include Core Scientific , Galaxy Digital Holdings , Coinbase , MicroStrategy , Robinhood , and PayPal . The biggest outlier on this list, by far, is MicroStrategy -- which has gained nearly 3,000% since January 2018. The primary reason for MicroStrategy's surge is due to the company's adoption of Bitcoin on its balance sheet. In other words, if the price of Bitcoin appreciates, shares of MicroStrategy tend to follow suit. First Trust Indxx Innovative Transaction & Process ETF: According to the fund's website, some of the ETF's largest holdings include JD.com , Baidu , Alibaba , Intel , Micron , and Advanced Micro Devices . What's a little ironic about this one is that many of the stocks listed above have negative returns since the beginning of 2018. But similar to MicroStrategy's outlier influence explored above, AMD's gain of nearly 1,200% over the last several years (thanks in large part to AI) has helped the overall performance of this ETF. Big picture view: What does history tell us? In addition to exploring megatrends, I think it would also be worthwhile to assess the historical performance of the capital markets in a broader sense. While AI is a ubiquitous technology that can serve all industries, the majority of stocks that have gained so far from the movement reside in the technology realm. For this reason, I will first be looking at how the tech-centric Nasdaq Composite index has fared over the years. Since its inception in 1971, the Nasdaq has only generated consecutive years of negative returns on two occasions. Of note, this has not occurred in over 20 years. This dynamic suggests that the Nasdaq should continue gaining in 2025. Below, I've shown the respective gains between the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite since the beginning of the current bull market (Oct. 12, 2022). With a chart like that, I wouldn't be surprised if you're at least considering trimming some exposure to equities. After all, how much higher can the markets actually climb? ^IXIC data by YCharts . Well, apparently the answer is much higher. Generally speaking, the S&P 500 continues to soar both in the near term and long term after reaching an all-time high (such as now). It's a mixed bag Given the details above, I'd say investing in any given megatrend is a mixed bag. While there have been some winners in blockchain, such cases were few and far between. And candidly, the two outliers I explored (AMD and MicroStrategy) are not inherently blockchain specialists. Moreover, timing was also a big factor in whether or not you made any money in these funds or the individual stocks that comprise them. Although I would not say that blockchain is a "bad" investment per se, I wouldn't necessarily encourage investors to buy shares in many of the stocks I specifically called out above. While past performance is not a guarantee of future results, history is giving us a pretty clear indication that the Nasdaq and S&P 500 should keep moving up throughout 2025 . My takeaway from the analysis explored here is that while the markets will likely rise next year, not all megatrends or the companies involved with them are created equal. If you want to invest in AI stocks, I'd encourage buying shares in players that are already established or passive index funds that hold more mainstream opportunities as opposed to speculating on what stock could be the next to break out.DJI Air 3S review: The go-to quadcopter drone

NoneThe cost of building a home in NSW and Victoria has jumped by more than 25 per cent in four years, after completion times blew out during the pandemic. The national average construction cost for a home – including houses, townhouses and apartments – rose from $345,410 to $443,828 between 2019-20 and 2023-24, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics data published last week. The cost of building a home in Australia has increased by almost $100,000 in four years. Credit: Louie Douvis Costs surged across all states during the period, rising by 25.5 per cent in Victoria and 30.2 per cent in NSW. The biggest leap took place in Queensland, with a 44 per cent rise. The cost of building a home soared during the pandemic due to higher demand, boosted by record low interest rates and government grants such as HomeBuilder. At the same time, disruptions to global supply chains pushed up material and freight costs, and worsened labour shortages. Housing Industry Australia chief economist Tim Reardon said construction costs grew at the fastest rate in June 2022 as supply chain disruptions filtered through to the building process. “You only need one disruption to disrupt everything else and the whole dynamic,” Reardon said. “If you’re missing one component, like the glue for a benchtop, you can’t manufacture that product, you can’t complete the kitchen, and you can’t sell the house.” Reardon said timber prices have fallen about 20 per cent over the past year as global supply chains improve, but other costs – particularly for energy-intensive materials such as aluminium, glass and cement – continue to rise. “The further we get away from the pandemic, the more settled those price changes will be,” he said. AMP deputy chief economist Diana Mousina said construction costs were among the fastest rising components of inflation. “It has moderated a lot over the past six to nine months, but it’s still growing faster compared to headline inflation,” she said. “It started off as a supply issue, but the problem became worse because people were demanding materials to do renovations or to build their home.” The influx has created a bottleneck: the number of houses under construction nearly doubled from 56,000 in June 2020 to 104,315 in March 2023, a number 48 per cent higher than the pre-pandemic record of 70,000 six years ago. This figure dropped to 87,149 in June 2024, but building times remain long, increasing from six months and three weeks in September 2019 to nine months and four weeks in June 2024, the ABS reported. Reardon said the ABS data was likely coming in with a lag. “Build times are now less than what they were pre-pandemic, though only by a week or two,” he said. However, labour shortages would remain constant for at least the next two years, Reardon said, because of the large volume of government construction work under way that is taking up any excess capacity in the labour market. Mousina said construction cost inflation, while down from its peak, could remain higher than overall inflation for some time, partly due to competing government infrastructure projects. The European Union ’s former Brexit negotiator made a surprise political comeback in July years after being a thorn in Britain’s side as it sought to leave the bloc after the 2016 referendum. The 73-year-old was appointed by beleaguered Emmanuel Macron to head a minority government after an inconclusive set of parliamentary elections that humiliated the French president. But his administration looks increasingly likely to fall over its budget, which opponents refused to vote through . Without a majority in parliament, Mr Barnier – the fifth French prime minister in seven years – used special powers to force through the budget without a vote. Furious opposition parties have now said they will back a no-confidence motion to oust him. Two motions of no-confidence will be debated in the National Assembly in Paris from 4pm on Wednesday, with a vote at around 7pm. Mr Barnier could be out of power by Thursday – the three-month anniversary of when he was appointed. No French government has been forced out by such a vote since 1962 and it would make Mr Barnier the shortest-serving prime minister in the history of the Fifth Republic. Bernard Cazeneuve spent the least amount of time in the role – just over five months – while Mr Barnier’s predecessor Gabriel Attal held the post for eight months . Mr Macron is also facing calls to resign as a recent poll showed well over half of the French people would be in favour of him quitting if Mr Barnier’s government falls. Mr Barnier’s brief was to rescue the French economy by getting the GDP deficit ratio back below 3%. To do that, his budget included deep cuts to public spending totalling £33billion (€40billion) and steep tax rises amounting to £16billion (€20billion).Scott Bessent a credible, safe pick for Treasury: experts

From Maui to the Caribbean, college hoops' Thanksgiving tournaments a beloved part of the sportThe unresolved case of JonBenét Ramsey has been the subject of countless documentaries and dramatic television retellings throughout the last 28 years. The latest content about the case is Netflix’s “Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey” — a three-part docuseries about the 6-year-old child beauty queen who was brutally murdered on Dec. 26, 1996, in Boulder, Colo. JonBenét’s parents, John and Patsy Ramsey, woke up the morning after Christmas in 1996 and discovered a ransom note in their kitchen. Later that same day, John Ramsey found his daughter’s body in the basement, revealing that JonBenét had not been kidnapped but was instead sexually assaulted and killed in the family home. Soon after, the Boulder police, who had little experience in homicide investigations, quickly turned their suspicions toward the Ramsey family, igniting a media frenzy that painted JonBenét’s parents as the prime suspects. Directed by Oscar-nominated director Joe Berlinger, “Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey” investigates the mishandling of the case by law enforcement and the media. Berlinger chronicles how Boulder police fed the media false information, which led to one-sided reporting that fueled a national obsession with the case. Close to three decades later, no one, including John and Patsy Ramsey, has been charged with the murder of JonBenét. For the documentary, Berlinger spoke to John Ramsey, 80, as well as lawyers and journalists who covered the case. (Patsy Ramsey died in 2006.) The doc also features recordings made by the late Colorado Springs homicide detective Lou Smit, who, after JonBenét’s murder, came out of retirement to help the Boulder DA’s office investigate the case. He left 18 months later because he was frustrated that Boulder Police would not seriously consider that an intruder had killed JonBenét. “No one really has looked at the work of Lou Smit, who I think was a pioneering genius in this space,” says Berlinger. “My series ultimately takes a very strong point of view that the Ramsey’s are innocent and that the police and the media completely abused them.” Although there have been many docs made about JonBenét’s murder, Berlinger says that he never wavered on making “Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey.” “I want to do something when I have something to say, and I feel like I have a number of things to say here,” he says. “Most importantly, I think that this crime can actually be solved.” While previous docs about the crime don’t bother him, Berlinger did admit that the upcoming about the case, which will star Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen, has him worried. “I am deeply concerned about that production perpetuating false ideas. I don’t know the [route] that they are taking, but it was somewhat shocking for me to hear from John Ramsey that that production hasn’t reached out to him,” says Berlinger. “I don’t want to knock other filmmakers, but Ryan Murphy also had no interest in talking to the Menendez brothers [for ‘Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story’], from what I read. If you are going to take on somebody’s life and not talk to them, how do they know the nuances of so many situations?” spoke to Berlinger ahead of the Nov. 25 of “Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey” on Netflix. The first is that there were a bunch of crime scene objects that were sent to the crime lab in 1996 but were never tested. We need to do that testing. Also some things were tested, but the technology was primitive at the time. Those things need to be retested. But the most important DNA test that I think would provide a really good opportunity to solve the crime is the existing DNA in the case that involves a mixed sample of JonBenét’s blood and the unidentified male DNA — not linked to any family member — mixed in with her blood. If JonBenét’s DNA is separated from the perpetrator’s DNA, then the perpetrator’s DNA can then be expanded and put into genealogical DNA, like 23andMe. That is a new technology that has been used very successfully and has recently become a major tool for solving cold cases. The Ramsey family have been so brutalized for close to 30 years. One of the new things about my show that hasn’t been highlighted in other shows is the degree to which the Boulder Police, who, from day one, “had a feeling” that John Ramsey was the killer, started that suspicion. They couldn’t get off it. We approached him. This is not me picking up his advocacy. This is me thinking this would be a good show and reaching out to him and giving him my usual wrap — I have final cut. You will not be paid. You will have no editorial input. He agreed to all of that. While it’s not overtly in the show, this [series] was a way for me to comment on the dangers of all these armchair sleuths and people who go down these Reddit rabbit holes. This series was meant to remind people that as popular as true crime is, you always have to remember that there is a victim on the other side. All of these people who are convinced that the family did it and trade in conspiracy theories and half-baked ideas to continue to pound that drum, to me, it’s unethical. Sign up for .
