USC’s JuJu Watkins has to prove it against Notre Dame’s guards in first great game of women’s college basketball seasonPolice accused of wasting time by probing ‘hate’ crimes including ‘rough’ haircut and person being called ‘Rottweiler’Former Democratic Rep. Tim Ryan of Ohio criticized his party Monday for misleading the public following President Joe Biden’s pardon of his son Hunter Biden. The president issued the pardon Sunday after he claimed for several months that he would not interfere in his son’s legal issues. During an appearance on “The Story with Martha MacCallum,” Ryan echoed radio host Charlamagne Tha God’s comments on “The Breakfast Club,” saying the pardon undermines the notion of Democrats having moral authority over Republicans. (WATCH: Lunden Roberts: Out of the Shadows) WATCH: “I agree with Charlamagne. The Democrats have tried to say that [President-elect] Donald] Trump is the liar. And in many instances he is the gold medalist of liars, in my own opinion, and I think many others,” Ryan said. “But when you say Trump’s anti-democratic, but yet you shut down the primary, no debates, you say that the border’s fine, it’s secure, we’re not for open borders, but yet people are pouring in over the border, when you say that you had a cold and that was the reason for the debate — all of these things — the economy’s going well, people know that that wasn’t shooting straight with them.” “And so that’s been the narrative and I think people have stopped trusting the Democratic Party. I don’t think people necessarily trust Donald Trump either. But this is the world we’re living in and I think as Democrats, you listen to what Charlamagne’s saying,” he continued. “Like get off of our high horse. Let’s stop pretending like we’re always holier than thou.” Ryan also criticized Trump for pardoning his daughter Ivanka Trump’s father-in-law, Charles Kushner in December 2020 following his conviction for tax fraud and other crimes in 2004. “The reality of it is, there’s going to be a reset,” the former congressman added. “Democrats got to get their act together and rebrand the party.” The president’s statement announcing the pardon included an allegation that his son “was singled out” due to their relationship, a claim which Charlamagne disputed. “Hunter was ‘singled out’ because he broke the law. That’s number one,” the radio personality said. “He was singled out because he had an illegal gun and tax evasion charges, not because he was the president’s son.” “I just want Democrats to stop acting like they are on this moral high ground politically when they have shown us they’re not. You know, whether it’s skipping the primary process when Biden had stepped down and things like Biden pardoning his son,” Charlamagne continued. “Stop acting like y’all are the pure party and Republicans aren’t. And it also shows me elected officials can do whatever they want as long as they have the political will and courage to do it.” All content created by the Daily Caller News Foundation, an independent and nonpartisan newswire service, is available without charge to any legitimate news publisher that can provide a large audience. (AP) — The Miami Dolphins' playoff hopes are not in their hands, but they did their part with a gritty win over San Francisco on Sunday. Coach Mike McDaniel knows that's not enough, and his team will need to do it two more times to even have a shot at making the postseason for the third straight year. “I was just proud of this effort and proud of the guys’ effort in general,” McDaniel said. “And that gives you a chance to win December football. Regardless, unless you’re playing in February, you also have to get adept at experiencing that, going through that, having some momentum and then going back and applying it to the next opponent, because no one cares about one win in December or January realistically. It’s about accumulating those.” Miami (7-8) is on the bubble for a wild-card spot along with Indianapolis (7-8) and Cincinnati (7-8). Even if the Dolphins win their remaining two games, they'll need help from other teams to get in. In one scenario, Miami would make the playoffs with two wins and two losses each by Denver (9-6) and the Los Angeles Chargers (9-6). “This team, we know when we do it well, we can do it very well,” defensive tackle Calais Campbell said. “We know that our chances are slim, but there’s a lot of fight left. And if we have a chance, we’re going to fight for it.” Miami closed out Sunday's game with a strong fourth quarter in all three phases. The offense converted on all three of its third-down attempts. Running back De'Von Achane had 93 of his 190 scrimmage yards in the quarter, including a 50-yard rushing score that put the game out of reach. Jason Sanders nailed a 48-yard field goal just before the two-minute warning. And the defense intercepted Brock Purdy on one of the Niners' last-ditch efforts. “I think that was something that we needed to see as a team together,” quarterback Tua Tagovailoa said. “You could see in all three phases that we were able to play the complementary football that we said we wanted to play. The defense giving the offense opportunities to go put points on the board. Then when there were times where we didn’t do what we wanted to do offensively, the defense held.” With both of the Dolphins' final games on the road, they'll need to play better than they have in away games for much of the season. Miami is 5-3 at home, its fifth straight home winning record, but the Dolphins are 2-5 on the road. McDaniel expressed confidence that those home efforts can travel in this final stretch. “When you’re trying to play football so that in the inevitable situation that you face every season,” McDaniel said, “an elimination game, whether it’s to get in the playoffs or it’s in the playoffs, you want to be tooled with a team that can succeed or execute in those types of situations.” Miami's run game finally got going with 166 yards. It was the Dolphins' first time topping 100 yards rushing since Week 9. Achane led the charge with 120 yards. His 50-yard rushing score was Miami's longest run this season. The Dolphins moved the ball well but scored touchdowns on just one of three trips to the red zone. Sanders. He was 5 for 5 on field goals with a long of 54 yards, and 2 for 2 on extra points. Sanders has made 23 consecutive field goals and is 11 of 13 on kicks of 50-plus yards. He's one of two kickers, alongside Dallas' Brandon Aubrey, who have made a field goal in every game this season. WR Tyreek Hill. The All-Pro receiver caught just 3 of 7 targets for 29 yards and a touchdown. He had a third-down drop on the Dolphins' opening drive and dropped a potential touchdown later in the game. The NFL's receiving leader last year is averaging just 55.6 yards per game and has only two 100-plus yard receiving games this season. WR Jaylen Waddle missed the game because of a knee injury. ... CB Kendall Fuller (knee) and LB Jordyn Brookes (quad/knee) both went down late in the second half. 76 receptions, 802 yards — Both single-season Dolphins records for a tight end, which Jonnu Smith broke with six catches for 62 yards on Sunday. The Dolphins will continue their efforts to sneak into the playoffs when they play at Cleveland (3-12) on Sunday. They'll need to beat the Browns and the New York Jets (4-11) in their regular-season finale to give themselves a chance. AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/NFL

Cougars offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle is leaving for the same job at SEC school Oklahoma, according to multiple reports, which comes hours after the school announced it’s parting ways with defensive coordinator Jeff Schmedding . Arbuckle coached two seasons at WSU, which finished the regular season No. 12 nationally in scoring offense, putting up 37 points per game. The Cougars averaged 269 passing yards per game, No. 24 nationally, and 172 rushing yards per game, No. 55. Quarterback John Mateer leads the country with 44 total touchdowns, including 29 through the air and 15 on the ground. Arbuckle, 29, came to WSU by way of Western Kentucky , where he worked two seasons, one as an offensive quality control coach and the second as co-offensive coordinator and QBs coach. At 27, he was the youngest Power Five offensive coordinator in the country when he was hired by WSU in January 2023. In Arbuckle’s offense this season, senior receiver Kyle Williams cleared the 1,000-yard receiving mark, becoming the first WSU receiver to do so since Brandon Arconado in 2019. Transfer receiver Kris Hutson also piled up 683 yards and two scores on 54 catches. In recent games, though, Arbuckle and the Cougars’ offense scuffled at times. In WSU’s 15-14 loss to Wyoming last weekend, the Cougs didn’t score in the second half, recording just 57 yards of offense in the second half. Thanks to a late fumble against Oregon State, WSU missed a chance to tie that game up, and the Cougars were prone to third-quarter lulls, especially away from home. In fact, when Williams scored on a long touchdown reception against Oregon State on Nov. 23, it was WSU’s first third-quarter touchdown away from home since a win over Washington on Sept. 14. It underscores a bit of inconsistency that the Cougs’ offense couldn’t shake this season, particularly in road games. But Arbuckle and WSU’s offense also racked up 70 points against FCS Portland State, 37 against Texas Tech, 54 in a double-overtime win over San Jose State, 42 against Hawaii and 49 against Utah State. The Cougs played eight Mountain West schools this season as part of a Pac-12/MWC scheduling agreement that provided WSU and OSU games for this season.
