Customers of UK energy firms who drive electric vehicles are facing higher electricity costs to recharge their cars . This follows the latest rise in the energy price cap by the regulator Ofgem. Marc Dal Cin, energy expert at EV Charger Installation, has told Digital Journal that charging an electric vehicle at home increases the home electricity bill, since the overall energy consumption goes up. The average UK energy tariff is around 32p per kWh for home charging. A full charge for a popular model like the Nissan Leaf 3.ZERO e+ will cost approximately £17, while a larger vehicle such as the Mercedes-Benz EQE will cost £24.50. Over the course of a year, this could add up to around £884 for weekly charges, following the energy price cap increase. Cin advises that charging at home is remains more economical than using public charging stations, which average 48p per kWh. So far, ACB officials have identified assets valued at Rs 100 crore registered in the name of the assistant engineer. The searches revealed bank lockers, fixed deposit receipts as well as properties including agriculture land, plots, flats and a villa. The search operation is still going on at the time of publication. Assistant engineer Nikesh Kumar was previously caught in May by ACB for bribery charges. Apart from him, executive engineer K Bhansi Lal, assistant engineer K Karthik and MRO surveyor P Ganesh were also arrested. These officials had demanded a bribe of Rs 2.5 lakh for doing official work. The complainant had already given Rs 1.5 lakh and was harassed to pay the remaining bribe amount. After lodging a complaint with the anti-corruption bureau, a trap was laid and the above mentioned officials were arrested.Seeking an end to “siloed data,” Utah State University (USU) last week unified its systems into a single platform, , in partnership with Salesforce Education. The project is designed to centralize data, improve how the university supports students throughout their journey, and lay the groundwork for other improvements like artificial intelligence-powered decision-making. It follows two years during which the university analyzed recruitment, admissions, student success, alumni engagement and marketing ecosystems. Officials found the programs relied on a variety of separate systems to manage student interactions, creating inefficiencies and communication challenges — and constraining data. Rene Eborn, USU associate vice president of digital transformation, who led the integration, said the new system will replace nine separate tools with five integrated ones. This will save time with administrative tasks and simplify the user experience. “People had to run manual reports and send them to each other off manual lists,” she said. “Our hope is to streamline not just the student experience but our staff and administration workloads, so that we can take that time that we used to spend doing all those manual processes and use those times to do more effective advising or more effective teaching and learning and really focus on what we're there to do.” The Salesforce Education Cloud draws data from sources across USU’s ecosystem, including learning management systems and advising records, using tools like MuleSoft to centralize all the information. From the student perspective, the integration allows students to turn to one platform that updates as they progress in their journey. Information they supply in the application process will follow them, preventing redundant work on their end. For staff, it provides a simple platform across departments to view student data and previous interactions, allowing them to coordinate messaging and avoid overlapping or irrelevant outreach. It also helps target outreach to a student’s specific needs, like providing information on academic support resources based on a student’s grades. Years of information about a student will remain visible even after they graduate and can shape alumni outreach strategies. The new system, Eborn noted, lays the groundwork for incorporating predictive analytics and AI features in the future, part of a trend toward data-informed decision-making at USU. In June, the school appointed its first chief data analytics officer. The full rollout of the OneUSU platform is expected to take 18 months, to ensure time to train staff and gather feedback from stakeholders. The school is starting with recruitment and admissions processes and expects the change to continue even beyond the next year and a half. “It does look like we're taking it slow, but when you actually look at the work that's got to be done, how we've got to change our processes and redesign the way we do our business models, 18 months is probably not long enough,” Eborn said. However, the platform is expected to be in its pilot stage by fall 2025. In addition to gathering feedback from students, parents and staff, USU will use the interface to monitor student success markers. “The metrics that institutions care about are retention, enrollment and the time of their staff,” Margo Martinez, vice president of education at Salesforce, said. For schools considering a similar integration, Eborn suggests reflecting on which user interfaces are effective in your personal life. For example, she took inspiration from Netflix, which also uses Salesforce to personalize suggested viewing. “The ones that you like the most are the ones that are the easiest,” she said. “And that's what we’re trying to do, is we're trying to make higher ed a better experience.”

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Lynne Roberts wasn’t looking to leave the Utah women’s basketball team. Then she got a call from Los Angeles Sparks general manager Reagan Pebley that changed her thinking. Roberts was introduced Thursday as coach of the Sparks, becoming the second coach to make the leap from college to the WNBA this month. Karl Smesko of Florida Gulf Coast got the Atlanta Dream job last week. “I was 100 percent invested at Utah,” Roberts said. “It just kind of felt like this is a golden opportunity. As a competitor, the chance to coach the best in the world, it’s what I want.” She replaces Curt Miller , who was let go in September and now is general manager of the Dallas Wings. Roberts inherits a team that has a strong young nucleus of Rickea Jackson, Cameron Brink and Dearica Hamby. The Sparks have the No. 2 pick in next year’s WNBA draft. “We’ve got kind of a cool combination of some veteran leadership and then we’ve got a really dynamic young group,” Roberts said. “That’s a good roster right there and then we can keep working with it.” Los Angeles finished 8-32 last season for the league’s worst record and has missed the playoffs for four straight years. “I want to compete, I want to win now,” Roberts said. “I know that’s easier said than done, but I’m up for the challenge and I can’t wait to get started.” Roberts is friends with Southern California women’s coach Lindsay Gottlieb and UCLA coach Cori Close. “That was intentional,” Sparks general manager Reagan Pebley said. “That we were bringing somebody into this role that had existing relationships because again this is a community of women’s basketball that is exceptional.” Roberts added, “I want to be the top of that pyramid with the Sparks.” Roberts is returning to her native California. The 49-year-old coach grew up in the Northern California city of Redding. She played college ball at Seattle Pacific and then began coaching at Chico State before moving to Pacific and then Utah. Roberts was 165-116 in nine-plus seasons at Utah and recently signed a six-year extension. She led the team to three straight NCAA Tournament berths and was the Pac-12 Coach of the Year in 2023. The Utes have started this season 3-1 and will be coached by Gavin Petersen, who was promoted from associate head coach. “I poured 10 years of my life into that place and I loved it. Iowa quarterback Cade McNamara released a statement Friday slamming the "100% false" media reports that suggested he had thrown his final pass for the Hawkeyes. McNamara has been sidelined since sustaining a concussion during the Oct. 26 win against Northwestern. Backup quarterback Brendan Sullivan has started the last two games for the Hawkeyes (6-4, 4-3 Big Ten) but is out with an ankle injury for Saturday's game at Maryland (4-6, 1-6). Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said earlier this week that Jackson Stratton will be the likely starter against the Terrapins if McNamara is unavailable. McNamara's cloudy status prompted speculation on a podcast this week that he was "not mentally ready to play." The podcast hosts from the Des Moines Register and The Athletic also suggested that McNamara -- who played three years at Michigan (2020-22) before transferring to Iowa -- is not "fit to play quarterback in the Big Ten right now." (AP) — Tua Tagovailoa wouldn't want to repeat everything that was said in the Miami Dolphins' huddle Sunday when they trailed the New York Jets in the fourth quarter. “Just know we were getting after everyone inside the huddle," Tagovailoa said, "to make sure you're blocking the way you need to block, you're running the routes the way you need to be — you need to be in the right spots." Whatever was said helped keep Miami's slim playoff hopes alive as the Dolphins (6-7) overcame 8- and 3-point fourth-quarter deficits, as well as one of Aaron Rodgers' best games in years, to beat the Jets 32-26. Tagovailoa sealed it with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Jonnu Smith in overtime to help the Dolphins spoil Rodgers' first 300-yard passing game in nearly three years and beat the Jets for the ninth straight time in Miami. After Jason Sanders tied it with 7 seconds left in regulation with a 42-yard field goal, Tagovailoa quickly moved the Dolphins down the field.
