Trump calls for ending daylight saving timeBig Ten slate features Indiana-Ohio State showdown and Penn State-Minnesota matchup Things to watch this week in the Big Ten Conference: No. 5 Indiana (10-0, 7-0 Big Ten, No. 5 CFP ) at No. 2 Ohio State (9-1, 6-1, No. 2 CFP), Saturday, noon ET (Fox) This marks the 98th matchup between these two teams, but it's only the fourth time both teams have been ranked. Although Indiana is unbeaten, its soft schedule means the Hoosiers aren't assured of making the 12-team field if they lose this game. The only team with a winning record that Indiana has beaten is Washington (6-5). Ohio State needs a win to have a realistic shot at a rematch with top-ranked Oregon in the Big Ten championship game. Ohio State has beaten Indiana 28 straight times since the Hoosiers posted back-to-back victories in 1987-88. No. 4 Penn State (9-1, 6-1, No. 4 CFP) at Minnesota (6-4, 4-3), Saturday, 3:30 p.m. (CBS) This is likely Penn State's biggest obstacle on its way to a potential playoff berth. The Nittany Lions' lone remaining regular-season game is a Nov. 30 home matchup with Maryland (4-6, 1-6). Minnesota has had an extra week to prepare this game since its 26-19 loss at Rutgers on Nov. 9, which snapped a four-game winning streak. Penn State and Minnesota have split their last four meetings, with the home team winning each time. Penn State DE Abdul Carter has multiple tackles for loss in each of his last three games. He ranks second among all Bowl Subdivision players in tackles for loss (17 1⁄2). Southern California RB Woody Marks rushed for a career-high 146 yards in a 28-20 win over Nebraska. Marks has six 100-yard rushing performances this season. Rutgers RB Kyle Monangai is the first Scarlet Knight to rush for 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons since Ray Rice did it three straight years from 2005-07. Monangai has run for 1,028 yards this season and rushed for 1,262 yards last year. Oregon OLB Matayo Uiagalelei recorded a sack and had a game-clinching interception as the top-ranked Ducks won 16-13 at Wisconsin last week. He has 8 1⁄2 sacks this season to rank second in the Big Ten. Four of the top seven Bowl Subdivision quarterbacks in passer rating are from the Big Ten. Indiana's Kurtis Rourke is second, Ohio State's Will Howard is third, Penn State's Drew Allar is fifth and Oregon's Dillon Gabriel is seventh. ... Illinois QB Luke Altmyer has thrown 18 touchdown passes with only three interceptions. The only Power Four quarterback with a better touchdown/interception ratio while throwing at least 10 touchdown passes is Clemson's Cade Klubnik, who has 26 touchdowns and four interceptions. ... Rutgers' three Big Ten wins matches its largest total since joining the league in 2014. Rutgers also had three conference wins in 2014, 2017, 2020 and 2023. A victory Saturday over No. 24 Illinois would give Rutgers three straight Big Ten wins for the first time. ... Washington's 31-19 win over UCLA was its 20th straight home victory, representing its second-longest such streak in school history. The Huskies won 45 straight home games from 1908-17. ... Wisconsin heads to Nebraska this week having won its last 10 matchups with the Cornhuskers. Penn State justifiably is favored on the road against Minnesota, but Bet MGM's 12 1⁄2-point spread seems way too big. Expect this game to have a single-digit margin. Man Utd flops BOOED OFF by furious fans after woeful 2-0 humiliation at Wolves leaves them eight points off relegationUniversities are liking and following the idea of content creation as a viable career choice. The move comes as the influencer marketing industry — now valued at more than $21 billion, according to Statista — has become popular among a generation of heavily influenced young people. In fact, more than half of Gen Zers believe they could easily make a lucrative career out of content creation and digital product pushing and many universities and experts are beginning to take them seriously. The University of Texas has even partnered with the United Nations to create a class to teach influencers how to handle misinformation. The free, online four-week course, is being offered in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French. Nearly 10,000 people from 170-plus countries have enrolled so far. “It’s incredible. It’s probably one of the most successful courses that we’ve done in terms of the number of participants, and then also in terms of engagement for the very first live session that we had,” Summer Harlow, the associate director of the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas, told The Hill. The UN-backed partnership came together as experts “kept seeing these different voices having influence on the news,” and wanted to “understand how digital content creators were changing the journalism field.” Other universities have even gone as far as creating an entire major for influencing. Arkansas Tech University recently began offering a “Bachelor of Arts in Social Media Influencing,” which incorporates classes in film production, journalism and public relations. “I think it’s communication, I think it’s production and I think it’s business,” Kate Stewart, assistant professor of public relations at Jacksonville State University, said of influencing and content creation. “I think it’s that idea where communication and marketing is going to give them the strategies and the ethical grounding to understand what they’re about to embark on as an influencer. Two, I think production is needed because it’s highly visual. They’re producing videos. They’re editing videos. They’re putting text on video. There’s a production value,” Stewart explained. “And then, lastly, business, they have to understand the business behind the management companies, the agencies, the brands, the other media companies that they’re working with to be able to have the background to be successful.” ATU isn’t the first university to offer a degree or courses in the field. Last year, the South East Technological University in Carlow, Ireland announced it expanded its “Digital Hustle,” a summer crash course taught by viral TikTokkers and field experts, into a bachelor of the arts degree. Other universities including the University of Alabama, USC, Cornell, Duke, Chapman and Columbia offer courses in influencer strategy, business and communications. “One thing that’s really great about teaching college classes is that I’m teaching digital natives — they live and breathe this stuff,” Tom Hafen, professor of brand management in the digital age at Columbia University, previously told The Post. Rather than explaining execution — like how to post on Instagram or piece together a TikTok — he can focus on the theories behind influencer advertising. This is especially pertinent as social media platforms and algorithms constantly change — will TikTok even be legal next year? IIn recent years, there has been increased demand from employers for content creation and social media savvy from Gen Z, Hafen pointed out. “So it’s absolutely critical, particularly for entrepreneurs, but big companies are using it more and more,” he explained. But it’s not just about posting strategic and creative TikTok videos, some experts point out — content creation as a career choice can be a risky one, given the fickle nature of markets and viewers limited attention spans, for example. “As we think about what it would be like to have a degree program focused on influencers, it’s important that there is recognition of the often overlooked downsides of the career, and that includes the volatility,” Brooke Erin Duffy, an associate professor in the Department of Communication at Cornell University, told The Hill.AGNC Investment Corp. The volatile tribal district of Kurram witnessed another scene of carnage, death and destruction on 21 November 2024. On this fateful day, a convoy of about 200 vehicles was travelling from Parachinar to Peshawar when at about 1:20 PM, gunmen jumped out of their vehicles and poured deadly gunfire on the travelling vehicles on the road, to extinguish the lives of 40 innocent residents of Parachinar including women and children. The attacked convoy consisted of mostly Shia Muslim members of the community. According to local sources, this attack was in retaliation for a 12 October attack that had left 15 people dead, including two women and a child. No group has so far claimed responsibility, but it is very likely that the banned TTP is behind this atrocity, because it has been quite active in this region in the recent past. State security agencies are either responsible for criminal negligence or have made no efforts to curb the acts of violence in this sensitive area. Since July this year, over 80 people have been killed while travelling by road and the people of the region have protested, demanding peace and security. But the state agencies have so far failed miserably to provide relief to the people of the area. The government now must make it priority number one to secure this region, or else this scourge will most likely spill over and then sectarian outfits could exploit the situation to create tensions across the country Quite oblivious of the plight of these communities, today the federal government and the provincial authorities of KP province are embroiled in a bitter dispute because of the 24th November protest day announced by the PTI. Due to their infighting, both the federal and provincial authorities are least bothered about the security conditions in Kurram or other parts of KP. Government sources tend to express their indignation and condemnation of the acts of terrorism, and promises are made to deal with the terrorists with an iron hand and bring them to justice. But in practice, the poor residents of the areas are left to their own devices when bloodthirsty militants rule the roost. Kurram district is extremely sensitive because of the sectarian divide and its proximity to Afghanistan along with the presence of obscurantist militants of the TTP. So far the government has not been able to control militancy or to settle tribal disputes that explode into tribal vendettas. The government now must make it priority number one to secure this region, or else this scourge will most likely spill over to other areas of the province and then sectarian outfits could exploit the situation to create tensions across the length and breadth of the country. Elements responsible for the latest atrocity must be tracked down and punished and our state agencies must come up with practical plans for the security and safety of the people of Kurram or this violence could engulf the entire country. PBC Condemns Horrific Attack In Lower Kurram, Calls For Immediate Action The resurgence of violence has escalated since the TTP ended a fragile ceasefire agreement with the government in 2022 and vowed to intensify its attacks. The group's activity has added another layer of insecurity in a region already plagued by sectarian and tribal conflicts. The latest atrocity in Kurram is a stark reminder that the country is now at war with itself. Our brave soldiers are losing lives every day, and the enemy is not across the border but within the national boundaries. The hurried departure of the US forces from Afghanistan resulted in the Taliban control of Afghanistan and the Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan was the only world leader who openly welcomed the Taliban regime in Kabul and rejoiced at their victory declaring “The Taliban have broken the shackles of slavery.” Subsequently the then PTI-led federal government decided to release about 5,000 terrorists and militants of the TTP who had been languishing n Pakistani jails, and allowed them to settle down in the areas of their choice. An outdated and wrong concept of ‘strategic depth’ seems to be guiding our policy planners even today. The attitude and behaviour of the Talban regime in Kabul should be a lesson to scrap the old policies of seeking such ‘strategic depth’ and start with a clean slate regarding our policy towards the Afghan Taliban. The province of KP in the direct line of fire, and facing the brunt of the attacks by the militant forces of obscurantism and sectarianism. Far from the miscalculations of policy-makers, our soldiers on the ground are facing this danger with great courage and determination and almost everyday lives are being lost. So, far the total loss of lives at the hands of the militant forces of the Taliban has been more than the total loss of lives suffered in all the wars with the country’s traditional arch-nemesis India. It is now time to take the war to the enemy, hit them in their safe sanctuaries and nip the evil in the bud – before further damage is done to our state institutions and social fabric. According to the army chief, the army is now paying a price in blood because of the incompetence of political forces. This unfortunate state of affairs since 2021 has not been settled. Beginner’s Guide To Writing About Old Buildings In fact, the blame rests not just on the security establishment and federal governments. The provincial government of KP leaves much to be desired. The Chief Minister of the volatile province is neck deep in promoting the party agenda while criminally neglecting his role as an administrator of the province that is under threat by a bloody insurgency. When he devotes all his time to planning agitations against the federal authorities instead of fighting and curbing militancy and terrorism in his own province, the Chief Minister also becomes guilty of gross neglect.YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — EJ Farmer scored 20 points as Youngstown State beat Toledo 93-87 on Saturday.
