A wild first season of the expanded Big 12 is down to what should be a chaotic final weekend. Through all the upsets, unexpected rises and falls, there are nine teams still in the mix to play in the conference championship game. No. 14 Arizona State and No. 17 Iowa State have the best odds, yet a multitude of scenarios could play out — 256 to be exact. There's even the possibility of an eight-team tie. It may take a mathematician to figure out which teams are in the Dec. 7 game in Arlington, Texas — even for the ones who win. Travis Hunter, Colorado. The Buffaloes' two-way star has excelled on both sides of the field, making him one of the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy. Cam Skattebo, Arizona State. The senior running back can do a little of everything, but excels at punishing would-be tacklers. He's one of the nation's leaders in yards after contact and the focal point of the Sun Devils' offense. Shadeur Sanders, Colorado. If it weren't for Hunter, Sanders might be the Heisman favorite. The son of coach Deion Sanders, Shedeur is fifth nationally with 3,488 yards passing and has been a big part of the Buffaloes' turnaround. DJ Giddens, Kansas State. The Wildcats' running back is one of the nation's most versatile players. He is ninth nationally with 1,271 rushing yards and has added 21 receptions for 258 yards. Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona. The Wildcats have struggled this season, but McMillan has not. He is third nationally with 1,251 receiving yards with seven touchdowns on 78 catches. Jacob Rodriguez, Texas Tech. The Red Raiders' junior linebacker leads the Big 12 with 68 tackles, averaging 10.2 per game. He also has four sacks. Brendan Mott, Kansas State. He's a menace to opposing quarterbacks, leading the Big 12 with 8 1/2 sacks. The Big 12 has nine teams already bowl eligible and two more a win away. The winner of the Big 12 championship game will be in the mix for a College Football Playoff spot. Arizona State, Iowa State, No. 19 BYU, Colorado, Kansas State, Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech and West Virginia have already clinched bowl berths. Kansas and Cincinnati can get into the postseason with wins this weekend. Gus Malzahn, UCF. Despite successes in recruiting, the Knights are 10-14 in two seasons since moving to the Big 12. Maybe not enough to get shown the door this year, but another mediocre season could lead UCF to make a change. Kyle Whittingham, Utah. Whittingham was one of the Pac-12's best coaches, leading the Utes to consecutive conference titles. Utah was expected to contend for the Big 12 title its first year in the league, but enters the final weekend 1-7 in conference play, which could push Whittingham toward retirement since it's doubtful he'd be fired. Neal Brown, West Virginia. The Mountaineers' coach was in a precarious spot at the end of last season and West Virginia hasn't lived up to expectations this season. The Mountaineers are eligible to go to a bowl game for the second straight season, but Brown could be on the hot seat even after signing a contract extension before the season. Josiah Trotter, West Virginia. The redshirt freshman is the latest Trotter to have success at the linebacker position, following the footsteps of his father, former Philadelphia Eagles player Jeremiah Trotter, and brother Jeremiah Trotter Jr., a current Eagles linebacker. Sam Leavitt, Arizona State. The Michigan State transfer has been just what the Sun Devils' needed: an agile quarterback who extends plays with his legs and rarely makes bad decisions. Bryson Washington, Baylor. The Bears' running back has rushed for 812 yards — 196 against TCU — and 10 TDs. TCU has the Big 12's highest rated 2025 recruiting class with six four-star players among 26 commitments, according to the 247 Sports composite. Receiver Terry Shelton of Carrollton, Texas, is the highest-rated recruit at 71st nationally. Baylor is next with five five-star players among its 20 commitments, including running back Michael Turner, rated 13th at his position out of North Richland Hills, Texas. Texas Tech is ranked seventh in the Big 12, but has four four-star recruits. The lawsuit was filed by Medier, a media company promoting gambling brand Rabona, accusing Tyson of failing to honor a deal signed with the Cyprus-based business in January. The legal action was initiated at London's High Court in October, prior to the fight. Tyson and his fighting venture Tyrannic are said to have reneged on their agreement with Medier in March, citing a breach of their own. The fight against Paul , initially scheduled for July 20, was announced on the same day. Jake Paul trolls Tommy Fury after old rival pulled out of Darren Till fight Tyson Fury going into 'destroy mode' against Oleksandr Usyk as plan emerges Paul emerged victorious over Tyson by unanimous decision at the A&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas on November 15, before a crowd exceeding 73,000 spectators. In the lawsuit, Medier argues that their actions did not warrant a breach and Tyson's abrupt exit resulted in €1.46 million in damages. "The true reason for Mr Tyson and Tyrannic's hasty and unlawful termination was because Mr. Tyson had agreed [to] a deal, sponsored by Netflix, to fight the influencer Jake Paul," stated Medier and their legal team. Tyson and Tyrannic have yet to formally respond to the lawsuit but are expected to file a defense in the near future. Both parties were contacted for comment by the Mirror U.S. Despite the fight's lack of powerful punches and numerous streaming delays, it proved to be a significant commercial success for Netflix . The media behemoths announced that streaming "peaked at 65 million concurrent streams watching around the world, with 38 million concurrent streams in the United States," according to a Netflix press release. A mum has lashed out at teachers who made her autistic son wear a comic Christmas tie at school. Year 9 pupil Lenny Walton goes to the Royal Harbour Academy in Ramsgate. On Tuesday, the 13-year-old arrived at school without his tie - contrary to the school’s uniform policy, and was given the comic tie to wear instead. His mum, Natasha Parry, said: “It was the first time he forgot his tie in two years at the school. “I was taking my mum to hospital that morning and couldn’t go back for it. “I told him to apologise to the teachers and explain. Instead two teachers from student services gave him a Christmas tie to wear - laughing as they did so. “They said if he didn’t wear it, he would get a detention.” Ms Parry continued: “When he got home from school that day I could see straight away something was wrong. “At first I couldn’t get it out of him, but then he blurted it out. “Because of the tie he had felt humiliated and he had been bullied all day. He was so upset. He said he never wanted to go back.” So far Lenny has not returned to class. Ms Parry said she had tried phoning the school every day since, to explain the effect the incident had had on her son, but she did not get a reply until 4.10pm today (Friday). By that time, Ms Parry had posted about the incident on Facebook, asking: “Am I overreacting? Or is this genuinely not OK? “I just want to know if this is appropriate behaviour on the school’s part or if I’m being unreasonable to expect more understanding.” Her post quickly garnered more than 300 responses, all condemning the school’s behaviour. Typical comments were: “Adults bullying an already vulnerable child is not ok!” “Causing a child to be the laughing stock of the school is bullying!” “No, I’d be absolutely livid. Surely this is worse than no tie at all!” “Shame on the school!” Another said: “They publicly humiliated him. Autism or not, no child should have to go through this.” “That’s setting him up to be picked on!” “Regardless of any conditions etc this is sickening. To humiliate anyone let alone a child is cruel.” Ms Parry said: “When I got the phone call, it wasn’t an apology. “It was to ask me to take the Facebook post down. “They said they had a good relationship with Lenny but felt the post might spoil that. I don’t know if that was some kind of veiled threat.” Ms Parry described her son as already a nervous child with a lot of social anxiety. The incident had just made matters worse. She is hoping to get Lenny back to school on Monday. FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Republican senators pushed back on Sunday against criticism from Democrats that Tulsi Gabbard , Donald Trump's pick to lead U.S. intelligence services , is “compromised” by her comments supportive of Russia and secret meetings , as a congresswoman, with Syria’s president, a close ally of the Kremlin and Iran. Sen. Tammy Duckworth, D-Illinois, a veteran of combat missions in Iraq, said she had concerns about Tulsi Gabbard, Trump's choice to be director of national intelligence . “I think she’s compromised," Duckworth said on CNN’s “State of the Union," citing Gabbard's 2017 trip to Syria, where she held talks with Syrian President Bashar Assad. Gabbard was a Democratic House member from Hawaii at the time. “The U.S. intelligence community has identified her as having troubling relationships with America’s foes. And so my worry is that she couldn’t pass a background check,” Duckworth said. Gabbard, who said last month she is joining the Republican party, has served in the Army National Guard for more than two decades. She was deployed to Iraq and Kuwait and, according to the Hawaii National Guard, received a Combat Medical Badge in 2005 for “participation in combat operations under enemy hostile fire in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III." Duckworth's comments drew immediate backlash from Republicans. “For her to say ridiculous and outright dangerous words like that is wrong," Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Oklahoma, said on CNN, challenging Duckworth to retract her words. “That’s the most dangerous thing she could say — is that a United States lieutenant colonel in the United States Army is compromised and is an asset of Russia.” In recent days, other Democrats have accused Gabbard without evidence of being a “Russian asset.” Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat, has claimed, without offering details, that Gabbard is in Russian President Vladimir “Putin’s pocket.” Mullin and others say the criticism from Democrats is rooted in the fact that Gabbard left their party and has become a Trump ally. Democrats say they worry that Gabbard's selection as national intelligence chief endangers ties with allies and gives Russia a win. Rep. Adam Schiff, a California Democrat just elected to the Senate, said he would not describe Gabbard as a Russian asset, but said she had “very questionable judgment.” “The problem is if our foreign allies don’t trust the head of our intelligence agencies, they’ll stop sharing information with us,” Schiff said on NBC's “Meet the Press.” Gabbard in 2022 endorsed one of Russia’s justifications for invading Ukraine : the existence of dozens of U.S.-funded biolabs working on some of the world’s nastiest pathogens. The labs are part of an international effort to control outbreaks and stop bioweapons, but Moscow claimed Ukraine was using them to create deadly bioweapons. Gabbard said she just voiced concerns about protecting the labs. Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Missouri, said he thought it was “totally ridiculous” that Gabbard was being cast as a Russian asset for having different political views. “It’s insulting. It’s a slur, quite frankly. There’s no evidence that she’s a asset of another country,” he said on NBC. Sen. James Lankford, another Oklahoma Republican, acknowledged having “lots of questions” for Gabbard as the Senate considers her nomination to lead the intelligence services. Lankford said on NBC that he wants to ask Gabbard about her meeting with Assad and some of her past comments about Russia. “We want to know what the purpose was and what the direction for that was. As a member of Congress, we want to get a chance to talk about past comments that she’s made and get them into full context,” Lankford said.

BOSTON (AP) — Jaylen Brown scored the Celtics’ first 15 points on five consecutive 3-pointers and finished with 29 points, before Boston withstood a late charge to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 107-105 on Sunday. Jayson Tatum added 26 points and eight rebounds to help Boston post a season-high fifth straight victory. Anthony Edwards had 28 points and nine rebounds for Minnesota, which has lost five of its last seven. Julius Randle added 23 points, and Rudy Gobert finished with 10 points and 20 rebounds, his eighth double-double of the season. Minnesota got within 55-54 early in the third quarter, before a 14-0 run by Boston. The spurt featured four 3s by the Celtics, including two by Tatum. The lead grew to 79-60 with 4:26 to play in the period. But the Timberwolves chipped it all the way down in the fourth, getting within 107-105 with 34 seconds left on a driving layup by Randle. Timberwolves: Minnesota will be looking to for some wins at home, after dropping four of its last five on the road. Celtics: The Celtics have struggled at home at times this season but improved to 6-2 at the Garden. The Timberwolves had the ball with 7.1 seconds and a chance to win. Edwards got the inbounds and tried to drive on Brown. But he was cut off, and the ball swung to Naz Reid, who failed to get off a 3 as time expired. Boston assisted on 25 of its 37 made field goals. Mask-wearing arsonists set a synagogue ablaze before dawn on Friday in the Australian city of Melbourne, police said, as the attack was widely condemned. The fire broke out at 4:10 am (1710 GMT Thursday) in the Adass Israel Synagogue when some congregants were already inside, police said, gutting much of the building in the southeast Melbourne suburb of Ripponlea. No serious injuries were reported. A witness entering the synagogue for morning prayers saw “two individuals wearing masks”, according to Detective Inspector Chris Murray of the Victorian police arson and explosive squad. “They appeared to be spreading an accelerant of some type in the premises,” he said. The synagogue was “engulfed in flames”, he added. “We believe it was deliberate. We believe it has been targeted. What we don’t know is why.” Police will increase patrols as they hunt for the arsonists, who were wearing dark clothing, he said. Detectives would be looking at CCTV footage and interviewing any witnesses, Murray said. Television images showed firefighters hosing down the embers through the blackened door of the single-storey building, which has a grey concrete facade. A board member of the synagogue, Benjamin Klein, said a few congregants were sitting and praying inside when the fire started. “They heard loud banging,” Klein told AFP. Liquid was poured inside the synagogue and set alight, he said. “If this had happened an hour later, there would have been hundreds of people inside,” Klein said. The congregants “ran out the back of the synagogue. One man who ran out — his hand got burnt,” he said. “The fire was extensive,” he told AFP. Books and furniture were destroyed, he said, vowing that the community would “rebuild”. Members of the congregation formed a human chain to remove religious items from the damaged synagogue, including Torah scrolls — one of which was brought to Australia from Germany in World War II, the Age newspaper reported. Klein said the synagogue had increased security over the past 12 months amid safety concerns, without giving further details. In 1995, the synagogue was damaged by a deliberately lit fire, with walls and Torah scrolls burned. Klein, who was a child at the time, said he remembered standing inside the synagogue with his grandfather, who he said was a Holocaust survivor. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese “unequivocally” condemned the fire and said federal police would help the state to investigate it. “This violence and intimidation and destruction at a place of worship is an outrage,” Albanese said in a statement. “This attack has risked lives and is clearly aimed at creating fear in the community.” The prime minister said he had “zero tolerance” for anti-Semitism. “It has absolutely no place in Australia.” Israeli President Isaac Herzog said he spoke with Albanese on Friday and expressed his “firm condemnation of the horrific arson attack”. He added that “the increasingly serious antisemitic attacks on the Jewish community required firm and strong action”. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the “heinous act cannot be separated from the anti-Israel sentiment emanating from the Australian Labor government”, citing Canberra’s decision to vote for a UN resolution demanding the end of Israel’s “unlawful” occupation of Palestinian territory. The war in Gaza has sparked protests from supporters of Israel and Palestinians in cities around Australia, as in much of the world. Executive Council of Australian Jewry president Daniel Aghion said the community had been living in fear of such an incident since the start of the war in Gaza. “This for us is just evidence of that fear,” he told reporters. “This is something that is the greatest manifestation of what we have been seeing and hearing in terms of threatening e-mails, threatening social media, threatening letters and all sorts of other material.” Hamas’ October 7, 2023 attack which triggered the Gaza war resulted in the deaths of 1,208 people in Israel, mostly civilians, according to an AFP tally based on official figures.
