Anthony Richardson injury: Updates, return date, Colts QB statusWhat will the new year bring? Based on this year, we can expect a wild ride. Here are 25 predictions for 2025. 1) President Trump, having run out of relatives to appoint to high office, will leave politics to spend less time with his family. 2) Raygun will continue to be the biggest source of family arguments since the COVID mandates, with the only allowed views being “angel” or “devil”. 3) Prince Andrew, revealed as a close contact of both a convicted paedophile and an alleged Chinese spy, will admit that he’s in the pay of the Australian Republican movement, as it’s the only way to explain the last five years. Reviving past fashion is going to become more difficult in 2025. 4) Reviving the fashion and music of past decades will become more difficult, on account that every period has been used up due to a collective failure to have any new ideas. By February 2025, we’ll be bringing back the “looks and sounds of 2024”. By March, we’ll be bringing back the “looks and sounds of February”. By April 20, we’ll be bringing back the “looks and sounds of April 3.” 5) Gina Rinehart will buy a huge new sheep farm but keep the traditional name: “Western Australia.” 6) Peter Dutton will find himself so addicted to negativity he will find himself unable to accept any view put by the government - angrily dismissing the observations that “the sky is blue”, “water is wet”, and “Australia, by and large, is a pretty good place to live.” Toto is set for a name change! Credit: Alex Ellinghausen 7) Anthony Albanese will rename his dog, worried that the current name of Toto sounds enough like Tonto to create expectations that his owner will be a man of action.espn sport betting

Kushner "is a tremendous business leader, philanthropist, & dealmaker, who will be a strong advocate representing our Country & its interests," Trump said on his Truth Social website, adding that Jared "worked closely with me in the White House." The choice is in keeping with Trump's pattern, so far, of selecting people, often wealthy, who are close to his family or of proven loyalty. Kushner is a multimillionaire real estate executive and former attorney; his son was a senior adviser during Trump's first term. Trump did not mention, however, that the elder Kushner once served jail time -- a two-year sentence, most of it served in a federal prison. Kushner, who is now 70, pleaded guilty in 2004 to 18 counts of tax evasion, witness tampering and making illegal campaign contributions. The case, which was prosecuted by then US attorney Chris Christie, included sordid details, to which Kushner admitted: that he had hired a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law, a man cooperating in a campaign finance inquiry, and then videotaped the encounter and sent it to the man's wife, Kushner's sister, to dissuade her from testifying against him. Christie, who worked on Trump's first presidential transition team and then opposed him in this year's Republican primary contests, later said Kushner had committed a "loathsome" and "disgusting crime." In 2020, Trump issued a pardon to Kushner, whose conviction had resulted in him being disbarred in three states. Nominees for key ambassadorships are often business associates of a president-elect, or major political donors. But it is rare, if not unprecedented, to name a convicted felon. The first two men to fill the prestigious Paris post were famed inventor and statesman Benjamin Franklin and a future president, Thomas Jefferson. If confirmed, Kushner would succeed Denise Bauer, a former ambassador to Belgium who was a major Democratic fundraiser and donor. md/bbk/md

An online debate over foreign workers in tech shows tensions in Trump's political coalitionGus Malzahn is leaving his post as UCF's head coach to reunite with Florida State coach Mike Norvell as the Seminoles' offensive coordinator, ESPN reported on Saturday. Norvell, who served as a graduate assistant under Malzahn at Tulsa in 2007-08, relinquished his role as FSU's primary playcaller amid a staff shakeup this season. Florida State, 1-7 in the Athletic Coast Conference this season, entered Saturday's season finale against Florida at 2-9 and ranked No. 131 in the nation in total offense. UCF also endured a tough 2024 season, going 4-8 after losing eight of its last nine games. During Malzahn's four-year tenure, the Knights went 28-24, including 5-13 in the Big 12 Conference the last two seasons. Malzahn, 59, is 105-62 in 13 seasons as a college head coach, highlighted by a 68-35 mark in eight seasons at Auburn -- which included a BCS title game appearance in 2013. He served as offensive coordinator and playcaller when the Tigers won the national title in 2010. Malzahn will be tasked with revitalizing a Florida State offense that helped produce a 13-1 campaign in 2023, when the Seminoles were denied a spot in the College Football Playoff. Over the last three seasons at UCF, his rushing attack has been in the Top 10 in the nation. In his 19 seasons as a college head coach or offensive coordinator, Malzahn's teams have averaged 447.7 yards per game, and three of his teams eclipsed 7,000 yards in a season. --Field Level MediaFormer Allianz employee spared prison time over $7 billion funds collapseThe Sacramento Kings fired coach Mike Brown on Friday, ESPN and The Athletic reported, halfway into his third season at the helm. Brown, 54, guided the Kings to the Western Conference playoffs in his first year on the job (2022-23), when he was voted NBA Coach of the Year, and to the play-in round last season. The team awarded him with a three-year contract extension reportedly worth $30 million in July. But Sacramento is 13-18 this season, 12th place in the 15-team West. The Kings have lost five in a row -- all at home -- after the Detroit Pistons beat them 114-113 on Thursday. It was unclear who would take over for Brown in the immediate future. The Kings visit the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday before returning home for three more games next week. Brown went 107-88 in his two-plus seasons leading the Kings, who hired him after a six-year run as an assistant coach with the Golden State Warriors. Brown went 305-187 in six seasons coaching the Cleveland Cavaliers and 42-29 in parts of two seasons with the Lakers. --Field Level Media

Norway plans to ratify trade pact next yearPresident-elect Donald Trump has swiftly replaced his first US Attorney General nominee, Matt Gaetz , amid scrutiny over sex trafficking and misconduct allegations, with Pam Bondi . The 59-year-old Florida Republican offers a more conventional image compared to the 42-year-old former congressman, though both are strong Trump loyalists. Bondi, a seasoned prosecutor with 18 years of experience, served as Florida’s attorney general from 2011 to 2019. She also defended Trump during his first Senate impeachment trial and supported his false claims of election fraud. Ahead of her potential Senate approval, here’s a look at Bondi’s current relationship status and her past marriages. Is Pam Bondi Married? Bondi is not currently married but has been married twice before and was engaged to ophthalmologist Greg Henderson in 2012. Henderson, a widower whose wife Kathy passed away in 2002, has four children— Greg Jr. , Kristen , Matt , and David . The couple, who had been together for some time, sparked rumors that they had secretly wed the same year after being photographed at a luxury Caribbean resort, with Bondi wearing a white dress. However, Bondi later clarified that they had canceled their planned destination wedding and intended to marry in a private ceremony at a Tampa-area Baptist church. In 2015, rumors surfaced suggesting that the couple had parted ways. Bondi’s first marriage was in 1990, when she was 24, to Garret Barnes . Their marriage lasted just 22 months before they separated. In 1996, she married Scott Fitzgerald , but their relationship ended in divorce in 2002, after nearly six years. Is Bondi in a Relationship? Bondi has kept her romantic life largely private, but it seems she may have found love again with boyfriend John Wakefield . Her Instagram profile picture features the couple, and the most recent photo of them together was shared on October 22 this year, taken at a Buccaneers game with friends. Wakefield first appeared on Bondi’s Instagram in October 2017, when they took a selfie together at a Bruno Mars concert with friends. A post shared by Pam Bondi (@pambondi) He appears to have three children, according to his Instagram bio, which reads, “my 3 monster children are roaming the world.”Gus Malzahn is leaving his post as UCF's head coach to reunite with Florida State coach Mike Norvell as the Seminoles' offensive coordinator, ESPN reported on Saturday. Politico reporter Jonathan Martin on Sunday dispelled a claim — perpetuated by House Republicans — that President-elect Donald Trump "dragged" the Senate "into the majority," as GOP infighting takes center stage leading up to Trump’s second term. CNN on Sunday reported a rift between Senate and House Republicans over the “sequencing” of Trump’s agenda. Meanwhile, Trump is trying to push a slate of controversial Cabinet picks through the U.S. Senate. Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MI) on Thursday tweeted a “message to GOP senators who don’t want to confirm Trump’s nominees.” READ MORE: 'Much bigger lift': Trump bets on 'huge slate of lawyers' to overcome GOP’s 'nothing-margin of control' “Trump took a bullet to the head and then dragged you into the majority,” Burlison wrote on X. “The American people sent a mandate and the American people are watching.” That message was boosted by Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ), who claimed Burlison’s assessment was “spot on.” But as Martin explained Sunday, while “Trump should get credit for helping pick up" Pennsylvania for Republicans, “the bottom line is if Trump had longer coattails,” the president-elect’s nominees “would be a lock.” Indeed, while Trump claimed an “ unprecedented and powerful mandate ” after his 2024 victory, “Trump’s margins — both in raw votes and in percentages — were small by historical standards, even for the past quarter century, ” PolitiFact reports. Researchers looked at information from a group of more than 12,000 adults in England aged 50 to 89 who were tracked over a 13-year period. At the start of the study, 8,225 adults had no mobility difficulty and did not use mobility assistive products (MAPs). Some 2,480 were deemed to have “unmet need” and 1,375 were using mobility aids. During the follow-up period, there were 2,313 “transitions” where people went from having no mobility issues to needing some help with getting around. And 1,274 people started to use mobility aids. Compared with men, women were 49% more likely to transition from not needing mobility aids to needing to use them, according to the study which has been published in The Lancet Public Health. But were 21% less likely to go on to use mobility aids when they needed them. The authors said their study showed “barriers to access” for women. For both men and women, with every year that passed during the study period the need for mobility aids increased. People who were older, less educated, less wealthy or reported being disabled were more likely to “transition from no need to unmet need, and from unmet need to use”, the authors said, with this indicating a “higher prevalence of mobility limitations and MAP need overall among these groups”. They added: “Finally, marital or partnership status was not associated with transitioning to unmet need; however, single people were more likely to transition from unmet need to use compared with married or partnered people.” Jamie Danemayer, first author of the study from UCL Computer Science and UCL’s Global Disability Innovation Hub, said: “Our analysis suggests that there is a clear gender gap in access to mobility aids. “Though our data didn’t ascertain the reason why participants weren’t using mobility aids, other research tells us that women are often more likely than men to face obstacles such as cost barriers as a result of well-documented income disparities between genders. “Many mobility aids are designed for men rather than women, which we think may be a factor. “Using mobility aids can also make a disability visible, which can impact the safety and stigma experienced by women, in particular. “There’s a critical need for further research to identify and break down the barriers preventing women from accessing mobility aids that would improve their quality of life.” Professor Cathy Holloway, also from UCL, added: “Not having access to mobility aids when a person needs one can have a big impact on their independence, well-being and quality of life. “Our analysis suggests that women, in particular, regardless of other factors such as education and employment status, are not getting the support that they need.” Professor Shereen Hussein, senior author of the study and lead of the social care group at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, said: “The research provides compelling evidence of gender disparities in accessing assistive technology, suggesting that cost, design bias, and social stigma are likely to disproportionally affect women. “This underscores the need for inclusive, gender-sensitive approaches in the design, production and inclusivity of assistive technologies.”HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Aidan O'Connell might not be Mr. Right for the Raiders, but he is Mr. Right Now. He did enough in Friday's 19-17 loss at Kansas City to show that Las Vegas' quarterback job will be his for the rest of the season — barring, that is, another injury. O'Connell didn't look like a quarterback who hadn't played in nearly six weeks because of a broken thumb . Plus, the Raiders had a short week to prepare for the Chiefs, meaning O'Connell only went through a series of walk-through practices. Even so, he completed 23 of 35 passes for 340 yards, including touchdown passes of 33 yards to tight end Brock Bowers and 58 yards to wide receiver Tre Tucker. He didn't throw any interceptions. “Thought he competed,” coach Antonio Pierce said Saturday morning. “I thought for what we knew we were getting with Spags (Kansas City defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo) and that defense, that he stood in the pocket, made some tough throws, took some hits, took the shots down the field like we wanted. We had some opportunities to take shots down the field, he threw them. And I thought our skill guys did a hell of a job competing and making some really good plays for us.” O'Connell's performance would've shined even more if not for the Raiders' final offensive play. He led the Raiders from their 8-yard line to the Chiefs 32 with 15 seconds left. The plan was for O'Connell to take the snap and throw the ball away to run off a few more seconds, then send Daniel Carlson out for the potential winning field goal without giving Patrick Mahomes enough time to mount one of his signature comebacks. But rookie center Jackson Powers-Johnson snapped the ball before O'Connell was expecting it, and the Chiefs recovered to secure another close, last-minute victory. The Raiders were called for illegal shift, which Kansas City declined. But there was some question about whether officials intended to call a false start instead. Though that infraction would have cost Las Vegas 5 yards, the pre-snap penalty still would've given Carlson a shot at the field goal. Pierce said his team heard an official's whistle before the snap, and that will be included in the Raiders' report to the NFL. “We do that every game,” Pierce said. “Typically, anywhere from three to five questions, and then we’ll get a letter within 24 to 36 hours, and we’ll read it and learn from it.” Bowers had another sensational game. He was targeted 14 times, catching 10 passes for 140 yards. For the season, he has 84 receptions for 884 yards and four TDs, making him a strong contender for Offensive Rookie of the Year. “We’re seeing double-teams and them really shifting their zone to him, and I don’t really think it matters,” Pierce said. “I think we've got a really special player on our hand.” The Raiders need to do better on first and second downs to set up more favorable third-down conversions. They have faced 47 third downs from 7 to 10 yards, tied with the Dallas Cowboys for fifth most. Las Vegas' conversion rate on those plays is 36.2%, which actually is favorable compared to the rest of the league, but the Raiders are still creating too many of those situations. Las Vegas made life difficult for Mahomes, sacking him five times. And it wasn't just Maxx Crosby bringing the heat. Four players had at least one-half sack, including K’Lavon Chaisson, who had 1 1/2. It was a season-high total for the Raiders, and they have taken down the opposing quarterback in 30 consecutive games, the third-longest active streak. Carlson is usually money, but he missed field goals from 56, 55 and 58 yards. Hardly chip shots, but he is capable of converting from those distances. He had made 30 of 38 field goals from 50-plus yards entering the game, with a career long of 57 yards. WR DJ Turner injured his knee in the second half. 12 — The Raiders are one of three teams to fall behind double digits in each of their first 12 games of a season. The others were the 1986 Indianapolis Colts and 1972 New England Patriots. The Raiders visit Tampa Bay on Dec. 8. AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/nfl

By Molly Farrar Rachael Rollins, the former U.S. Attorney who resigned amid a federal investigation into ethical violations last year, weighed in on the public corruption charges against Boston City Councilor Tania Fernandes Anderson. Rollins appeared with At-Large City Councilor Julia Mejia online for “Woke Women Wednesdays,” hosted through WWOC Media . Mejia asked Rollins questions about the indictment against Fernandes Anderson, who represents District 7 consisting of Roxbury, Dorchester, Fenway, and part of the South End. Fernandes Anderson, who was arrested last week , is accused of orchestrating a kickback scheme involving a family member who she hired as part of her staff. She allegedly gave a large bonus to the staff member who agreed to give $7,000 back to the councilor. Rollins called into question the federal jurisdiction of the case. The bonus check involved in the scheme was made payable from a city account with Citizens Bank, a Rhode Island-based bank that processed the payment “via interstate wire communications,” federal prosecutors allege as part of their justification for a federal case. The City also received $10,000 in federal grants money in 2023, the indictment says. “Do you see what bullsh– this is? Excuse my language,” Rollins told Mejia. “This isn’t ‘Rachael Rollins was running drugs from Massachusetts to Rhode Island to New Hampshire, human trafficking people from Maine’... It seems petty.” Rollins hinted that prosecutors chose to target Fernandes Anderson with federal charges. The councilor is facing five counts of aiding and abetting wire fraud and one count of aiding and abetting theft concerning programs receiving federal funds. “I’m not saying she’s innocent, I’m not saying she’s guilty,” Rollins said, but “we can find a federal nexus for anything we want,” referring to the fine details of the allegations of Fernandes Anderson. Rollins also mentioned the 28 alleged customers of the brothel network in Boston that prosecutors have said included “wealthy and well-connected clientele” like politicians, military officers, lawyers, and tech and pharmaceutical executives. The alleged customers are facing charges in district court. “They don’t want to find a federal nexuses for people who look and live like them,” Rollins said. Rollins did not return a request for comment about her statements. Molly Farrar Molly Farrar is a general assignment reporter for Boston.com, focusing on education, politics, crime, and more.
